My collective reviews:
Book 5: His Highness the Duke = This is Bron & Aeron's story and it is a doozy! I do have to say that I truly respect Aeron for desperately trying to get to Qurilixen to do what she has to. I also respect her honesty throughout the book as well even though sometimes it was like pulling teeth. My fingers are crossed that she is wrong about one aspect of her life that I refuse to give a spoiler of.
Bron is so endearing he tugs at the heart strings. I was very shocked at what he was doing during the breeding ceremony procession & when he flat out broke a main tradition, my heart almost stopped. I was so worried about what that would mean for him. Oh and he's a sneaky one.
This book has it all. Apprehension, fear, loyalty, more fear, sweetness, hotness & love.
It also has something Michelle M Pillow hasn't done in this series yet. She left this book with not 1 but 2, TWO, cliffhangers!! Genius!
Book 6: The Stubborn Lord = This is going to be a short review because if I get going, I won't stop & I'll end up spoiling the whole book. This is by far my most favorite one yet!
This story is about Lord Alek and Kendall. My heart broke because of Alek's loneliness until finding Kendall & I was truly appalled by what Kendall's dad did until........they found each other in an unconventional way. The series world is opened up in this book which makes it an even better read.
Their relationship made my heart happy from beginning to end and I can't wait to read the next book!
Book 7: The Reluctant Lord = This is Vladan & Clara's story and it is riveting from the onset.
This is completely an opposites attract book & it is a glorious one. It is funny, adventurous, sexy & heartwarming all rolled up in one great book.
This does seem to be more Clara's story but I believe that is because she was always in isolation. She even finds out she has a particular special gift that I'd like to have.
This book is different from the others in the series but every bit as fantastic.
Book 8: The Impatient Lord = It is the story when we finally find out what happened/happens to Aeron's sister!!! That being said, it's Mirek & Riona's story.
I'm not going to spoil much with this review. I will say that it also sums up pretty much everyone else's stories as well and is a lovely ending. It also had a twist I never saw coming! This book goes from sad and heartbreaking to finding true love, true family and friends plus everything in between.
I can't wait to read book 9 Her Dragon's Queen!! It's a prequel about Queen Mede (who cracks me up) & King Llyr. Then there is The Savage King which starts the Var portion!!

Hi Highness the Duke - Aeron works as a communications analyst for the Federation and picks up a message that the Tyoe, a hostile alien race, are going to attack the Draig and take the planets rich minerals and ore, which is used to fuel ships. She asks her sister to help to get to this planet. Her sister, Ri is a gambler and itinerant traveller. They are the only known survivors of a planet which was destroyed by a war ship weapons test, which by a twist of fate also killed those of the war ship.
Aeron reports the transmission to her boss and tell her that the Draig planet is not in the federation and therefore no concern of theirs. She cannot except that with what happened her own planet. Ri forges them paperwork and gets them out of the area on the Galaxy Brides ship.
High Duke Bron sees Aeron, his crystal glows and he takes her back to the tent. All she wants to do is talk to the king, but Aeron knows if she removes Bron's mask she is considered married to him, she ask him if he can remove the mask without her being married to him but he tricks her when he says yes. She is drunk and ready to have sex, which goes against the rules of the ceremony and has dire personal consequences for her.
No spoilers about the rest of the story. A great read and very detailed plot, I loved the interaction between Aeron and Ri (reminded me of my sister and I!!) Great camaraderies between the princes and their cousins. I love the overlapping stories as you see things from other perspectives. I thought it did end a bit suddenly but didn't take away from a generally very well crafted story
The Stubborn Lord - Kendall had been studying to be a station engineer. Now she has been repossessed and sold due to her father's gambling debts. Who knew people could actually be repossessed!!! She awakes occasionally from the stasis she was placed in and finally awakes on the Galaxy Brides ship.
Alex has attended the breeding festival for 5 years now and still has not found his bride. He leaves the festival and finds Kendall in the forest, who had run away from the Breeding festival and his crystal grows. He vows to protect her from the men who sold her. He ensures her that if they marry he will et her to safety.
There was little interaction with the other brides on the ship in this book, possibly due to Kendalls stay in stasis. Kendall is a very smart adn capable. Her frantic attempts to get back home are to find and help her sister, not a rejection of Alex or his planet as in some of the other stories. Alex understand Kendall's resistance to their marriage so complications ensue.
Alex is stubborn and a closed off. He and Bron do come over as very chauvinistic and mysoginistic than their royal cousins. There is still lots of adventure and romance. When Kendall discovers just how much time has passed, it is truly heartbreaking. But it is good to know that Margot has her own story!!!!
THe Reluctant Lord - Lady Clara is from a planet where emotions are repressed (think Vulcan from Star Trek). She has a humongous amount of brothers and sisters. Her sisters are pregnant but cannot give birth until the last of their generation, Clara, is mated. She has sent off every suitor sent to her and as a last resort she is sent to meet the Dragon Princes and Lords.
Lord Vladan, adopted son and Ealdorman Honorary of the Draig. His parents were killed in a mining accident. He loves his brothers, but still feels more commoner than Lord, he yearns to shift and run free and wild. And that is what he wants in a wife, passion not perfection.
Lady Clara was hard to like at first, all that ice princess exterior. However, when you met her parents you kind of see how she ended up that way. I loved the get out clause her mother came up with!!! (You'll need to read it to find out what. Vladan is so down to earth, happy with his friends and family, no matter what their station. He takes is duties, and their safety, seriously.
Now to read Riona's story - really need to find out what happened to her!!!!
The Impatient Lord - Riona comes with the other brides but gets one of the workers to let her get off the ship through a employee door so she can duck out of the bridal parade. This is one bride who has no intention of getting hitched!!!
Mirek is sad at the thought of another year with no bride. When Riona sees a groom make off with her sister she chases after them. Mirek bumps into her whilst in his shifted form and she doesn't really flinch and his cyrstal glows. She is his!! He gets her to accept his tent for the night and they will sort things out in the morning. Little does she know what he has every intention of claiming her as his wife.
In the morning after smashing Mireks crystal she heads to where she last saw her sister and putting her face in the "yellow" sleeping flowers and has an allergic reaction for several months. On waking she thinks her pirate buddy has caught upto her and wants the money she owes. She finds that she's married to Mirek, who has been caring for her all this time. She agrees to stay there until she can make money to leave and he offers to make her his assistant to help her pay her way. Whilst also trying to find ways to make her accept him as her husband.
A brilliant conclusion to this 4 book story arc. We find out why Riona is so reckless and head strong and how alienated she feels amongst this close family unit of shifters and their wives.

I couldn't stay away...
and in some respects I almost like this second batch better than the first one. Especially with regards to the breeding festival, that kept really bugging me. I like that these girls are more actively involved in their encounters, no more "she was a virgin, whoopsie"...
Also, the guys history with the past festivals created a very different dynamic, as a whole they seemed a bit more flawed, ... "real"
I can't honestly say which of the girls or couples was my favorite, I know I never really warmed to Riona (was bound to happen eventually :)) and that I found Clara's background the most intriguing, cause it was just so different.
The most fun was probably the "nesting" and the brothers "project". Hilarious, it had me in stitches...
On a whole their stories seemed more separate and not nearly as interwoven as the princes stories
and sometimes they seemed to be a bit out of sync in terms of overlapping timelines, e.g. the meetup between Aeron and Alek+Kendall in book 1 it takes place on the second morning after the festival, in book 2 its the morning right after the festival
