Having inherited the estate of her Great-Aunt Alice, Becky soon finds the mysterious Frippe House is hiding some dark secrets. She faces a choice of dealing with her chequered family history, or going home and abandoning her inheritance.
Well, when Eden told me she was a more than a little spooked when writing this book, I had no idea of what lay ahead. She very kindly offered me a preview of the standalone a week before release. I honestly don't think I've read a ghost story for a number of years and always being one to watch scary films instead I had no idea what to expect from it. But what a book it is!
Becky is a single parent, works hard to support her family but suddenly gets contacted about an inheritance she has received; Frippe House. An old house that has remained in the family for a number of years has more than it's fair share of bumps in the night!
With Becky's newly inherited house she builds new friendships (and maybe more!) but not before she finds secret passageway that leads to something that has everyone baffled and me? Spooked!
A truly awe inspiring read and a real page turner. As someone who likes a wide variety of different genres this did not disappoint. A brilliant standalone from the talented Eden Elsworth.
Not a story to read at night when you are home alone - yes this story did spook me lol What would you do if you inherited a house that turned out to have a malevolent spirit ? I'd run as fast as my little legs could carry me but not Becky Frippe, nope, she's determined to bring to an end the curse that's plagued her family for generations. Again and again this Authors talent and imagination never ceases to amaze me. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.
I'm not sure if I'm a 3 or a 4 star for this because I figured this was more romance than it was and I'm a little disappointed if I am honest. On one hand, I am so happy this was more than a romance. I liked the story underlying in this more than I like the romance. On the other hand, I was expecting and wanting romance.
I was expecting light bedtime reading and was instead so terrified I stayed up listening for every bump in the night. Regardless, it was a delightful read!
