Parke Godwin was an American writer known for his lyrical yet precise prose style and sardonic humor. He was also known for his novels of legendary figures placed in realistic historical settings; his retelling of the Arthur legend (Firelord in 1980, Beloved Exile in 1984, and The Last Rainbow in 1985) is set in the 5th century during the collapse of the Roman empire, and his reinterpretation of Robin Hood (Sherwood, 1991, and Robin and the King, 1993) takes place during the Norman conquest and features kings William the Conqueror and William Rufus as major characters. His other well-known works include Waiting For The Galactic Bus (1988) and its sequel The Snake Oil Wars (1989), humorous critiques of American pop culture and religion.
Parke Godwin also worked as a radio operator, a research technician, a professional actor, an advertising man, a dishwasher and a maitre d' hotel.
Godwin's short fiction has appeared in several anthologies. His short story "Influencing the Hell out of Time and Teresa Golowitz," was the basis of an episode of the television series The Twilight Zone.
This one was interesting because Cedric and Elyon are in disguise and try to led a rebellion through a portal into Earth. Cedric disguises as Mr. Collins (history teacher and mom’s boyfriend). Elyon disguises as Will’s swim trainer. Both are trying to mess with Will’s life to keep her busy so the rebels can get through the portal and attack Earth. Cedric’s loyal minion, Vathek is to lead the rebels through the portal to destroy the guardians but when they go to attack Cedric Will saves Cedric and tells them that they should change their world instead of moving to another one. So Vathek switches sides and is no longer on Phobos’ side and now fights with the people of Meridian now. They go back to Meridian and the guardians close the portal.
We also learn more about Elyon’s backstory. She is the princess of Meridian and her brother is Phobos. She was taken to Earth by Mrs. Rudolph. She hates the guardians because they kept her from her brother because they protect the veil which means she is was bound to live in earth away from her whole life. She has also learned many new powers from Cedric.

All of these books are really fun so far. There were some big reveals in this edition, and some creeping tension with side characters that I'm assuming will come up later. It has me questioning everything. I think it's safe to say that every new character probably has more going on than meets the eye, and right now, I am especially suspicious of the history teacher who is "friends" with Will's mom.
Just a side note: The art style gets a tad bit different and a little bit less detailed; I definitely prefer the illustration style from the first (and 4th) book the most.
This book is okay. My favorite character is Will. She is kind of the leader of the witches and knows that she is the leader but she also knows how to listen to maybe better ideas. These books kind of make you wonder because to find out what happens next, you have to read the next book. You have to read the books in order to really get them. If you want to read this book you kind of have to be into the whole magic and other dimensions thing but, other wise go ahead and read it.
