This book is a must read especially for anyone who's ever felt dismissed about their menstrual health. As a science student, I was just drawn towards this book when I saw it. People ask me why I love science, and my answer to this question is that I love knowing about things, more specifically about the human body. This book taught me a lot that I did not know before, and as a woman, it was needed. She addresses so many myths which even today prevail in so many region and families.

Dr. Liz Murray is a doctor and a woman who's lived with endometriosis and other illnesses which affected her life, so you know that this book is not just filled with factual knowledge but also her personal experience and how she navigated through all of that. What's incredible is that she doesn't overwhelm you with complex conditions right away. She starts by building a solid foundation, breaking down the basics of the menstrual cycle, the roles of hormones, and how they interact. Then, step by step, she introduces conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, and PCOS, making each one feel approachable. Even if you have no prior knowledge, you walk away with a clear understanding. She doesn't just assume you already know stuff ; she starts from the basics, which is such a commendable aspect of the book because it shows that the author cares that this book reaches a wider audience regardless of their background.

In every chapter she shares her story and her experience, which makes the book all the more relatable. At the end of every chapter there's a summary and key takeaways, so if you missed a certain point or if there is a point which needs more attention, it gets addressed. There are different diagrams and charts accompanying the text as well, which make the whole experience much simpler, more readable, and easier to understand.

I know for a fact that every one of us will find some part of ourselves in this book, whether it be heavy flow, unbearable pain, not just during the cycle but throughout the month, or so much more.

This book is not just for women. This is a book everyone should read because if we all understand these changes and what is going on, we can be better support systems for the people we love. I took so much from this book, and I feel so grateful for it. It's honestly such a powerful reminder that knowing your body is a form of empowerment.
