Daily readings to align you with God's great agenda
It seems that everyone has an agenda. People have plans, programs, things they want to accomplish, and the way they want to accomplish them. God has an agenda too, something He wants to accomplish His way.
This agenda, according to Scripture, is God's Kingdom, which is an alternative to the kingdom of this world. God's people are not limited by the choices the world offers but are called to live according to God's kingdom agenda.
Dr. Tony Evans adapts the core themes of his legacy work The Kingdom Life Under God into a format to be read daily—365 devotions to challenge, encourage, and inspire readers to live according to God's agenda in every area of life.

I really loved this book. Unfortunately, the format of it wasn't perfect for me. The copy I read was an eARC from the publisher, so it was not a finished copy. I am sure the finished copy does not have the formatting issues and ordered a physical copy for myself, which will hopefully be coming in soon! (Books being shipped to one makes it feel like Christmas!)
Yes, this book was so good, it deserves 1) a re-read and 2) to take up precious shelf space on my bookshelves. I really enjoyed reading it and it made me think, a lot. I took notes and I can't wait to sink my teeth into the finished copy. It's a daily devotional, so it's a year commitment, but well worth it.
I think what I enjoyed most was that it the themes were grouped in a way that both made sense and built on one another. They followed one another logically, and while some parts were repeated, it made sense in the grouping and with the understanding that it was a daily read meant to really drive home the message that was being explained. From what I understand, in order to really learn something, it needs to be repeated in upwards of three to seven different times (and ways, so this only hits the repetition, not the multiple ways aspect of learning).
I am looking forward to my physical copy of this book coming in and can't wait for the new year to start so I can start reading this all over again. Despite the formatting issues in the advanced read, I am giving this 5 stars, as I am going to have my own copy of it and I am sure the formatting issues were resolved for the final copy. If not, I will adjust my rating as appropriate.
If you are looking for a good daily devotional, I highly recommend this one.
My thanks to NetGalley and Moody Publishers for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.
What a great devotional, with daily readings from Tony Agenda on following God in this nation. It is chock full of great readings on virtually every aspect of the Christian life and Christian citizenship, i.e. living as a Christian in this nation and being a representative of our true home, the Kingdom of God. A great read!
Great devotional. I thoroughly enjoyed this material. Dr Tony Evans take you through many different areas in seeking God’s kingdom agenda and applying to one’s life. Recommended.
NOTE: A COPY OF THIS ARC WAS GIVEN TO ME THROUGH NETGALLEY.
I love devotionals! I have used many different kinds over the years in my prayer time, so I was excited to review this 365 daily devotional from Tony Evans. The devotional is set up wonderfully. At the top of the page is a quote from scripture, then Mr. Evan's explanation of the quote. This is followed by a Reflection section which provides questions that the reader can answer to go a little deeper. Finally, a short prayer, again written by Mr. Evans, that sums everything up. Mr. Evans uses plain language in his explanations and his prayers so everyone can understand. That's the good part of this devotional.
The disappointing thing about it: Because there were so many grammatical and spelling errors,it became increasingly difficult for me to read. Hopefully it will go through editing one more time before printing - once that's done I think it will be a great devotional for everyone.
