After Toni Gardner's husband died unexpectedly, Toni decided to retire from her job and move into an exclusive senior living community. Now, though, she is beginning to regret her hasty decision. She's bored and lonely...until the day when her next door neighbor Elaine walks into her life.
Elaine has a warm heart, a great sense of humor...and Toni can't help noticing that she's also really cute. Toni wants to be friends with Elaine, maybe even more.
But getting close to Elaine isn't easy. Elaine still carries scars from a bout with breast cancer and a double mastectomy. She is even more deeply scarred by years of her ex-husband's emotional abuse. But perhaps worst of all, she believes she is too old to open herself to a new love.
Can Toni convince Elaine that they are meant to be together? Or will Elaine's self doubt ruin their chances of finding love?
Judy was born in Oklahoma and raised in Kansas. With the end of a sixteen year same sex relationship, Judy has devoted her time to her love of writing.
In the past four years of the single life, and retirement, Judy has been busy writing lesbian romance novellas. To date she has published sixteen on Amazon, with another fourteen waiting to be edited and published. As usual, she is busy writing yet another book.
Judy’s books are lesbian romance but most include important social issues, such as, lesbian domestic violence, family incest, forgiveness, ghostly happenings, online dating, older women finding lesbian love, homophobia, childhood abuse, a young girl’s acceptance of having two moms, a female war vet with lasting physical and mental issues. Judy prefers to write with characters in their mid-thirties, with the oldest being sixty-nine and seventy years of age.
This is a moving story about two women looking for a new beginning. Toni wanted to make some changes after the death of her husband, so she moved into a new community for seniors and found the love of her life, Elaine.
Elaine had endured a lot of emotional and physical abuse from her previous husband. This is a story about being uplifted by a strong group of woman. I really enjoyed the story and this is a true work of beauty.
.
I love the way the women in the story were so strong and let Elaine see that there was kindness and that she can overcome even her fears of her physical appearance.
I also like that the two main characters were older. I feel like, no matter your age, you can always begin again. Age should not factor in the choices we make in order to be happy.
