When corporate greed meets ancient magic, war is inevitable...Pete has finally found his place as the Harvest Champion of Fertile Valley. With his farm thriving, his family growing, and peace restored between the valley's feuding factions, life seems perfect. But when his old friend Christine Woods returns to the valley with deep pockets and corporate backing, everything he's built comes under threat. Armed with corrupted magic and a monstrous ally, she's systematically destroying the valley's homes and businesses to force residents into selling. But why? Between the missing fairies, sabotaged buildings, and his own daughter's wellbeing at stake, Pete must forge an unlikely alliance with former enemies to protect his home.
Can he unite the light and dark forces of the valley against a common foe? Or will corporate corruption succeed where ancient evils failed?
I've been enjoying the story, even though it's become a bit formulaic (at times). That is, " Boy meets Girl; Girl is evil/nasty/wrong. Boy fights Girl, defeats her. Boy forgives Girl, screws the daylights out of her and impregnates Girl (Girl is always thrilled). Boy adds Girl to his harem." Happily, there is usually a lot of variety added around the routine, keeping it from becoming boring.
The authors do have a sense of humor and don't mind making some quirky characters (horny fairies, etc.). I also salute their inventiveness!
Some devoutly religious folks may object to the spirits (the Harvest Goddess, for example) and to some actions (such as the Summer Solstice celebration orgy. To them I say this: This is FANTASY.
Come for the smut stay for the story. I know yall will hear that a lot in these reviews, but it's true. The complex relationships founded in the first two books have settled into a more comfortable family relationship in the third.
This book is yet another chapter in fertile valley and has all that hot plot development and future setup you could want. Some threads are tied up nicely, some are added, and some get a little more tease to keep you coming back.
