The apples are ripening, the pie crusts are cooling, and Ginny Malone is finally off for a sunny day at the Rinaldi family orchard—until murder turns their sweet visit tart…
Business at Moonstone Bakery is booming, tourists are lining up for pies, and Ginny’s thrilled that Vince is going to introduce her to his brother Tony on their picturesque farm in nearby Wyattville. A few hours away from the ovens sounds blissful—right up until Ginny and Vince stumble onto a body among the trees and Tony lands at the center of a scandal that could ruin the Rinaldi name.
With the clock ticking and the local sheriff eager for an easy arrest, Ginny and Vince find themselves shuttling between Moonstone Bay’s boardwalk and Wyattville’s dirt roads—balancing pre-dawn baking, the mischievous cat Shortcake, and a growing list of suspects who all had reason to want the victim silenced.
Pie by pie and clue by clue, they’ll have to sift through tangled debts, small-town grudges, and a trail of apple cores that just might lead straight to the killer.
Author Nova Walsh writes culinary cozy mysteries full of humor, shenanigans, and friendships that last a lifetime. She mixes in a healthy dose of amateur sleuthing, some slow-burn romance, and a pinch of comedy in every book she writes. Nova is a former chef/caterer who still loves to cook but loves to write even more. She’s an enthusiastic, if not totally successful gardener who loves travel, wine, and hanging out with friends. Nova grew up in the southwest, and now lives in Galveston, Texas, with her husband, son, and dogs. When she isn’t writing, she’s often cooking, spending time with family, or reading a good book with a pup by her side.
I love how Ms.Walsh has evolved her characters. I enjoy each new story. As I open the pages I’m warmly greeted by Ginny. I quickly return the pages to find out how the next mystery unfolds! And Nova Walsh has not disappointed me yet. I’m all in … every page. I also like how hope and gratitude pop up throughout the story. I also now want Apple pies….and thanks to the recipe in the back….I can make it! ( or try). Another excellent adventure and I’m eagerly waiting the next yummy story!
I enjoyed the story but noticed discrepancies in the storyline. In the last book Vince’s old beat up car was a Honda in this book. It was a Toyota. In the last book Ginny’s car was a Volvo and in this book it’s a Mercedes. The little store in Wyattville was at first called a yarn store and then it turned into a quilt store. I still enjoyed the book.
Love this book. Great cozy mystery. Lots of layers. We have our detectives trio as well as our loving bakery crew working together to solve our mystery. Addinsome new characters and I hoping we have a new book series for our wonderful author.
Intriguing! New to me author I found in kindle unlimited! Well written mystery with underlying romance between Ginny and Vince. Can’t wait to read more of her books. Love the amazing towns in her book! A must read!
This was a cute read. It had a warm & cozy feel especially with the close knit type community. The characters are endearing and I loved the fall setting.
