Todd grew up in upstate NY and fell in love with writing and storytelling at a young age. The entire process has always fascinated him - research, writing, re-writing, editing – as all of it is so important to creating a successful novel. He works diligently to create a finished product that's true to his vision as a storyteller. His writing is focused in two categories - Young Adult Fiction and Crime Fiction.
After high school, he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a musician and songwriter for many years. During this time he had a number of different day jobs to pay the rent. The only constant was his study of storytelling in the form of song, short story, novella and novel.
In the years following, he married, was blessed with two beautiful children (teenagers now), divorced and continued to make ends meet doing various occupations as music and writing remained constant passions, which took up most of his time. He spent some years in Nashville performing hundreds of shows on the songwriting circuit. Though he loves music, the study of songwriting led him to the love of storytelling in longer form, especially novels. Today, he is a novel writer, though occasionally sidetracked with a story of shorter length too.
Currently, he’s writing a YA novel, which will be released in late 2017.
His influences include Theodore Geisel, Cormac McCarthy, Elmore Leonard, Trevanian, and Edgar Allan Poe, to name a few. But his writing style is completely his own, born through years of studying voice and descriptive ability, focusing on saying more with less and developing an approach to storytelling that’s visual for readers.
This was gritty and dirty. The language was just repulsive, but fit the characters and storyline perfectly. I just think if it's going to be a conclusion it should be complete and full of information just like the meat of the story. I think the ending was very sudden like the author ran out of ideas and just gave up. I don't like that because there's more could've been told about the lead characters life and duty when all was said and done. It would make for great storytelling if The last antagonist came face to face in the end with his frenemy.
If you can get past the foul language in this book it's a realistically intriguing under cover police detective novel. Having experienced a drug enforcement agency employment, I can definitely relate to the intense involvement an agent has too be subjected to in the course his duties.
Great story line. Excellent characters and all is tied together. Read this book in 2 days. So well written couldn't put it down. Couldn't give it 5 stars because of the language. Story could have been told just as well without so much bad language. I will be reading more of Todd Lincoln Richards books. Hope he keeps some of the same characters.
Getting the behind the scenes of the drug trade is gritty and captivating. The "life" is both revolting and fascinating. Death is rampant but the money rewards almost make it seem worthwhile. Values for the undercover cop shift slowly but surely. I was sad when the book ended as I wanted more.
Great story. Interesting characters. Lots of action. I'm not sure about the ending....I was hoping for more. All and all, still a great, fast paced read. I will probably read more from this author.
a book worth reading, particularly if you believe that some of us are really deep down evil and also that truth and faith will conquer. The gory part of the killings are expected, but I personally could have done with out some of the sexual exploits.
Do you know who you really are after a time as an undercover agent? That is one of the questions I had as I read this book. Language is not always the best, actions are cruel. P art of a series.
It is a cliffhanger! And I don't believe the next book is out. It was well written and had a great story until the end. If I had known it was a cliffhanger I would not have read it.
Please don't be the end.....I wasn 't ready for it to end....really really great. Good character development, plot. A real nail biter right to the end!
This is a truly awesome book. You are taken right to the underbelly of the crime LORDS who deal with everyday problems. Only they deal with millions of dollars and life is the cheapest commodity around. But an undercover police officer has arisen in the ranks and is just about to pull their plug. Or will be trade sides for the money? Check this one out. It is great taking. I RECOMMEND. Will NOT DISAPPOINT!!
“Dirt” is a gritty story of an undercover cop embedded in a Mafia drug operation. It should appeal to fans of “Johnny Brasco,” “The Departed” and “Street Kings.” It’s told in the first person from the perspective of a cynical, self-loathing cop with a defective moral compass and greater admiration and respect for the discipline of the criminals than of the police. His irreverence gets him noticed and leads to a series of sink-or-swim assignments where he excels, ensuring rapid acceptance and promotion within the gang, but frequently putting his life in jeopardy. It’s a story of shifting loyalties and frequent betrayals among characters who demand absolute loyalty from sociopaths who are ultimately only capable of looking out for number one.
