It’s all about formal mathematics, and learning how to write and read them at the same time. It’s fast paced book that covers a wide variety of subjects, and each subject get looked at briefly enough for you to understand what it does, and how it works.
The main focus is put on theoretical computer science, and the subsets of complexity, computation, algorithm analysis and a lot more.
This book covers most of the theoretical foundations of Computer Science to an appropriate degree, which is neither shallow nor deep, and thus serves as a starting point, or a quick source for revision.
It is worth noting that the book's style is closer to a collection of lectures than to a purely academic writing, and therefore it is simpler than usual on such a subject.
This book was a game changer for my computer science class. My friend Daniel recommended it, and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without it this semester. It made complex topics much easier to understand. I can't recommend it enough. Definitely worth buying for my CS majors!
