On the way home from a diplomatic visit to the western territory queen, Kai stops at the mountain checkpoint for a nap and a nip. She expected to find an old, cantankerous mountain man working as the blood donor at the cabin, but what she found instead was Catherine. Cantankerous and a hermit, yes, but definitely not an old man. And maybe, another one of those people whose problems are creatures of her own creation.
