My scorching hot new neighbor offered me $300K to be his fake wife for six months. Plot he’s the nameless hookup from my all-expenses-paid era.
Dr. Parker Matthews needs a wife fast, or he loses a fortune and hands his future to his controlling father.
I told myself six months would be easy. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Now it’s not only my spa on the line. Our reputations, and whatever this is between us, could go up in flames if his father gets his way.
That’s when it hits me—this was never about the money for Parker. He’s not chasing a fortune—he’s breaking free from the man who’s always pulled the strings.
Somewhere along the way, between the landmines and orgasms, he stopped pretending. And I’m lying through my teeth, acting like I don't want the same thing.
Turns out, the hardest part isn't faking love. It's believing I can walk away when the clock runs out.
Six Month Wife: A Fake Marriage Doctor Neighbor Romance, book one in Blakely Stone’s One-Night Billionaires series, was unfortunately a DNF for me at 39%. The writing didn’t hold up, and several story elements lacked internal logic.
Parker Matthews, an ER doctor, and Adair Carpenter, a health store owner, had a one-night stand six months before the book begins. Adair doesn’t remember much about the encounter—or Parker—but he remembers her. They cross paths again at the local hospital when Adair’s friend sprains her ankle, and later, Parker visits Adair’s shop for a massage. They end up having sex. Meanwhile, Parker has just inherited a fortune from his uncle, with one condition: he must marry within thirty days and remain married for at least six months to receive the inheritance. He proposes a deal to Adair, and since she’s struggling financially, she agrees.
There were a couple of refreshing elements. Unlike the usual trope where the MMC forgets the FMC after a one-night stand, here it’s Adair whose memory fails her. I also appreciated that they acknowledged their mutual attraction early on and agreed to date outside the “contract” to explore a real connection. Parker’s character felt more developed than Adair’s, which helped anchor the story somewhat.
That said, the writing ultimately prevented me from finishing. Several plot points lacked coherence. The will clearly states that Parker must marry and give the relationship a genuine six-month effort. If it doesn’t work out, he can divorce and still receive the inheritance. Yet, Parker and Adair go to great lengths to convince friends and colleagues that their marriage is a love match. Even Parker’s father gets involved, offering to help make the union appear legitimate—despite the fact that the will doesn’t require the marriage to be real. This added layer of deception felt unnecessary and illogical.
Then, less than seventy-two hours after the wedding, Adair is already thinking that Parker’s monthly payments are helping her business stay afloat. Not will help—are helping. This felt premature and unrealistic, given the timeline.
Adair also came across as overly brazen, too soon. In the two sex scenes I read, she initiated and led both times. Parker’s role was essentially to have condoms conveniently on hand—including one pulled from his gym shorts while at the gym. Maybe I’m naive, but who goes to the gym with condoms tucked into their workout gear? The scenes themselves lacked finesse—no foreplay, just straight to thrusting. The second encounter felt especially abrupt, as if the author decided, “It’s time for some intimacy,” without any narrative buildup or emotional progression.
Then there’s Parker’s dad, inserting himself into the situation and offering help that wasn’t needed—again, because the will didn’t require a real marriage. On the contrary, it allowed for divorce after six months.
All of this combined led me to throw in the towel within the first third of the book.
She is a business owner that needs financial security to move forward. He is a traveling doctor that landed in Palm Beach and may find roots in a marriage of convenience.
Adair owns her own wellness brand and store front. But she has hidden from everyone that her business is quietly failing. When she bumps into a handsome stranger in the ER, she is confused when he knows her name.
Parker takes joy in not having roots. As a traveling doctor he decides to take a place in the Palm Beach ER. When he is reunited with a stranger he knew for one night, he finds himself seeking her out for more than one reason.
Parkers eccentric uncle left him a large inheritance contingent on marriage for at least 6 months. Parker is still in shock when the woman his uncle suggests to marry is someone he already knows and is his next door neighbor?
Astrid agrees to marry the hot doctor for purely financial reasons despite Parker being up front in his authentic interest in dating her. As someone who hates to ask for help she keeps things close to the chest even from the one person who has her back.
Dual POV, Marriage of Convenience to a one night stand, open door sex scenes. (very little love tbh)
The editing and grammar errors alone took off one star for me. Sorry. The lack of care from the author to edit her content is disappointing. I've read many many works of fan fiction that were better written. That aside, this was an interesting plotline. I did appreciate the author keeping the interest of the reader with good pacing. Parker is a healthy MMC who just wants to have a chance with an amazing woman. Astrid is throwing so many red flags. This story could have been much better. Nice HEA and abrupt Epilogue.
May I suggest a beta reader to help before publishing? Beta readers are heroes. Also, may I suggest adding the MCs for book 2 or more as secondary characters to build interest for continue the series?
Adair took her friend to the Emergency because she fell and hurt her ankle , a nurse took them inside but said you have to wait until a nurse will come to check you out. She noticed a handsome doctor and went to him , he tells her that they are busy but he tells them it’s likely a sprain , some rest maybe ice and she’ll be fine , she was angry because how can you dismiss her without seeing her and you say it’s not broken. He decided to check her ankle and how he said it was just a sprain. Jenna her friend tells her that they were flirting with each other but she didn’t admit it. He came back to ask her if she ever was in Miami and a memory came back to her, but she wasn’t sure that it was him. He received a call from his uncle lawyer about his will, he tells him ,that if he wanted everything went well he has to be married for at least six months. After he read his uncle will, he found a magazine, when he opened it ,there was a picture of her and that was he was waiting to get to her.
An amazing story, I will recommend this book because it’s very good.
I did like the idea of this story and I do think that this author is capable of writing a good contemporary story. And I did enjoy the story for the most part.
Parker Matthews, an ER doctor, and Adair Carpenter, a health store owner, had a one-night stand a year before the book begins. Adair doesn’t remember Parker, but he remembers her. They cross paths again at the local hospital when Adair’s friend sprains her ankle, and later, Parker visits Adair’s shop for a massage. They end up having sex, again. Meanwhile, Parker figures out he has been living beside her for the last six months and he just inherited a fortune from his uncle, with one condition: he must marry within thirty days and remain married for at least six months to receive the inheritance. He proposes a deal to Adair, and since she’s struggling financially, she agrees to be his temporary wife for $8,000 a month, with a payout after six months.
Here's my problem: three days after the wedding, Adair is already talking about how Parker’s monthly payments are helping her business stay afloat. Not will help—are helping. This felt premature and unrealistic, given the timeline, and she mentions this numerous times thoughout the story. Also, if he was paying her $8,000 for six months, her final payout would only be $202,000 not $232,000. The math didn't add up, again leading to more frustration with the lack of care the author took, making me as a reader feel a bit unappreciated.
And
So I will give this one 3 stars, even though I was a bit frustrated by the timeline and math issues.
Blakely Stone proves her mastery of the contemporary romance genre with this compelling, trope-rich novel. Known for crafting stories that balance heartfelt character growth with undeniable passion, this book is a prime example of her signature style. Readers are immediately drawn into a high-stakes scenario involving a favorite trope—the fake relationship—which quickly escalates through the intensity of forced proximity. Stone skillfully uses this setup to explore deep emotional connections, proving that even the most calculated arrangements can't stand a chance against genuine chemistry. Expect a fast-paced, engaging narrative filled with the kind of sizzling tension that Blakely Stone's fans have come to anticipate. The story is a satisfying journey where two individuals, driven by their own professional and personal pressures, find their lives entwined in a way neither of them planned. If you enjoy romances where the stakes are high, the attraction is immediate, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after is delivered with both heart and heat, this is a must-read.
Besties, we have a new contender for 'Best Book Boyfriend, Without Magical Powers'!! I 💖🧡❤️ Parker!! He has the best heart 🫶🏼 he's kind, intelligent, charming, and HOT 🥵 -oh yeah, he's also a rich doctor, who just inherited close to a billion dollars. The FMC is everything we want to be when we grow up! 1 more thing- WE hate Leeland! This book had me captivated from the first few pages- they had the most amazing one night stand, the kind that repeatedly stalks your dreams and shatters you over and over, BUT when they cross paths a year later- she doesn't recognize him. There are death(s), drama, banter, and (not graphic) spice. I loved the overall architecture of the marriage- the story flowed easily and I could not put the book down. @Author Blakely Stone has multiple themed series, but each book is a standalone. This one is available on Amazon https://amzn.to/4pvgGOG
It's cute that Parker be honest with Adair since the beginning. He didn't put any pressure, but Adair can't let opportunity pass. But the chemistry between them was like flame in the beginning, then thinning out throughout the book.
The way Adair treated Parker is disrespectful. Plus, if they pretend to be married, would be at least they share the same house? No matter how you twist it for the estate lawyer, for me it doesn't make any sense. Plus no one seems to bother by this, how?
Adair and Parker also seems not be able to decide wether keep their arrangement a secret or not. It's like one chapter they admit that they're just pretending, while on another they want to make it as real as possible.
Not a bad book to read. Good story, really good characters. Some stereotypical jumping to conclusions. My only real gripe was quite a bit of in-continuity. There are mentions of “months of check received” when it’s only been a week since the agreement, dialogue lines that have nothing to do with the rest of the words, like a paragraph was edited and they forgot to remove a line. The character of Cam and Milo pop up out of nowhere but read like you should already know their backstory. Things like that easily jar you out of the story because it makes you wonder if you missed something. An editor really could stand to give this a go through to clean up those issues.
A one night of pure raw sexual pleasure in Miami is the perfect way to start forever. But that starts in Palm Beach for both of them. Parker and Adair reconnect at the hospital her works as an ER Doctor. It is very volatile with the chemistry between them. He connects the dots before she does. He seeks her out with a proposal that is life altering. They have many battles to conquer before they get their HEA. There is just enough drama to keep you guessing where the storyline will go next. I enjoy the story very much.

I want to be fair,I wasn't sure I would finish this story, but I kept going and I'm glad I did.Parker has a heart of gold,it's a shame his father doesnt.Adair is just trying to get her life started but nothing goes right for her and her vision, and she doesn't want to ask for anymore help from her friend Bets,in part because she doesn't have the heart to tell her that the business is just hanging by a thread.Along comes Dr. Parker(Mr Hottie!)and he needs a favor,he needs a wife and he wants Adair. This story is funny, serious, jealousy and lies but Parker may get push away but he always is by his fake wife(Adair) until she realizes he is for real!
Adair and Parker enter into a six-month agreement so that he can obtain his inheritance but get a whole lot more than they bargain for. When Parker's father tries to manipulate his life, he and Adair stand their ground leading to complete chaos from his father. This fake marriage of convenience is filled with emotional twists and turns that kept me glued to Parker and Adair as they worked to overcome the obstacles created by his father.

Pros: the story is good. The characters are likable. The writing is excellent, barring some editing issues.
Cons: the flow is a little off. It feels like it speeds up, slows down, repeats, and skips. I found myself re-reading a few sections to decipher who was talking or how I missed something, only to find out that it wasn't mentioned like following paragraphs alluded it had been. A few spelling and grammatical errors as well as punctuation issues.
-A one-night stand turns into a fake marriage with very real stakes. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Adair and Parker’s chemistry sizzles as they battle manipulations and growing love. Family drama, emotional twists, and business entanglements keep it engaging.
A steamy, heartfelt romance with a satisfying blend of tension and tenderness.
This is a heartfelt romance between Adair and Parker. These two flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an interesting read. What starts out as a one night stand evolves into a marriage of convenience that turns into something more. It is a love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and twists and turns. An engaging page turner.

I love Parker and Adair’s story, they went through so much, his father was a real snake pretending to care for Parker, while the only thing he truly cared about was keeping them apart and getting his hands on the money that Roger left Parker. Adair had to deal with the lies that was printed. After all was said and done they were together. This is a wonderful love story.
This book started off strong. I liked the chemistry between Adair and Parker. And then the chemistry mellowed out and it was eh. I did like how strong Adair was but it also hindered her at times. The whole plot didn’t really make sense. Like why was the dad meddling? Who was going to care if it was a fake marriage? Like the estate didn’t know it was fake? Parker was asked to get married within a 30 day period. Of course it’s fake!
I truly need to stop finding books by new ‘to me’ authors. It’s getting ridiculous because I already have so many on my shelf to read but I keep adding more. Oh well…❤️📚
Great story, I was rooting for Adair and Parker even though I knew they would fall in love. It was a great ride getting there full of self-discovery, growth, trust and just believing in each other. I loved the ending, so romantic!
Parker and Adair had a brief night together in Miami, and when fate beings them back together, everything shifts. This was a fantastic read with emotional moments that pulled at your chest. It was beautifully written, and the characters were interesting.

Parker needs a wife to get his inheritance and Adair needs a boost for her business. With some dramatic touches, a few secrets and twists for good measure, fake to real, and a marriage of convenience later, this is a steamy read that won't take six months to read.

The FMC was an idiot. I couldn’t even finish the last quarter of the book. I got tired of her blaming the MMC for everything. She was clearly blind. He was totally in love with her, but she was ignorant, and too quick to blame him for everything. Sigh…disappointed.
Was a promising story. But there are so many time inconsistencies, unexplained backgrounds for characters, duplicate lines, that it took away from the story. It’s like thoughts were written at various times and then cut and pasted together. There was no reading or editing done. It was extremely disappointing.
This was such a good read. Adair and Parker have a one night stand and as luck would have it they run into each other again. After agreeing to have a fake marriage for him to get his inheritance and to help her with her business they soon find out it’s not fake and they develop real feelings for each other. I thought this book was refreshing and cute with some spicy moments between the two.
First impressions are everything and lasting in their case familiar on second meeting; by the third meeting a match made in heaven. The journey that comes next bond their love with truth, respect, honestly, friendship, and companionship, and commitment
This book was worth reading, but I found myself getting a little bored with some of the thoughts running through their heads, especially Adair's. She was the kind of "heroine" I dislike.
