In the far future, Earth is ravaged by war. Deadly skirmishes between isolated human civilizations are frequent. New technologies are discovered, but others have been lost to time. Paige is trying to find her place in a shattered world. She’s determined to become a fighter pilot to impress her military father, but she yearns to explore the stars. After a dangerous risk in the cockpit, she’s left grounded. She must decide what's more important to her—her father’s pride, or her own happiness. Skylar just wants to protect his loved ones. When his flight is called up to defend his childhood home, Skylar’s militaristic lifestyle clashes with that of his pacifist parents. He must find a way to intertwine his colliding worlds, or risk losing those he cares about forever.
This little novella is an absolute delight! I loved the duel POV and how in less than 100 pages, I became fully invested in two families and several other people! Cozy and sweet and now adding small red potatoes to my grocery list.
This duet of stories starts in Paige's POV and switches to Skylar's for the second.
In an alternate Earth future where pilots fight space invaders, Paige must find her place. She follows her calling—leading her into family conflict and grueling flight training.
After a tragedy, Skylar shucks family expectations and joins the military. Can he find love and forgiveness even as he fights to save the world?
Contact Initiative has characters who grow, family drama, and heart-pounding sky battles. It's a great coming of age story.
If you're looking to dip your toes into sci-fi this is a fantastic place to start! It's so easy to step into this world and not feel overwhelmed like some sci-fi or fantasy books can do. The author has a way of placing you into the story right away with understanding and connects you with the main characters.
I loved these characters and you feel for them almost instantly. I wanted to hug them a few times and I even cried at moments.
Take a little time and cozy up with this book. you won't regret it.
This story is SO good ❤ It's short & sweet & honestly super emotional - I was definitely crying at parts. I read "To the Stars" before and loved it, but somehow with "Sky's the Limit" the story got EVEN BETTER! I just wanna scoop Skyler up and give him a big ol' hug 😍
