Fay Keenan lives and works in Somerset. When Fay is not chasing her children around or writing, she teaches English at a local secondary school. Fay writes ‘heart thumping romantic fiction’ and likes to cover subjects of interest in her novels, including UK Parliament, the Air Ambulance and the international cider making industry. Her novels explore relationships, country living and hopefully have a good sprinkling of escapism, too!
Bella works at a cat rescue and supplements her income by working a few night shifts at the local bar. She needs to find a new place to live when she is offered an unusual opportunity from an unexpected source.
Noah is a city guy whose beloved grandfather has died and he asks Bella to live in the house and interface with various construction crews and care for his cat as he commutes back and forth to the city for work. This arrangement will benefit both of them.
This heartwarming story is full of small town charm and includes many poignant and thoughtful themes including cat rescue, grief, complicated family drama, new beginnings, taking risks, friendship, slow-burn romance, and healing.
Fans of the author will want to add this to their TBRs.
Thanks #Netgalley @BoldwoodBooks for a complimentary eARC upon my request. All opinions are my own.
I have authors that i just know their books are going to be brilliant and Fay is one of them. There hasnt been a single book ive not enjoyed and this one was part of a gorgeous series which again ive loved.
I loved being back in Lower Brambleton and see what past characters are up to and I really enjoy Bella's and Noah s journey.
Gentle, uplifting, and full of charm—this is exactly the kind of book that feels like a deep breath out.
Returning to Lower Brambleton in this new instalment feels like stepping into sunshine. Fay Keenan once again creates a village that wraps around you like a warm hug—full of kindness, character, and that unmistakable small‑town magic.
Bella West is such an easy heroine to root for. After a childhood that taught her not to get too comfortable anywhere, watching her slowly settle into the rhythms of Brambleton is genuinely heartwarming. Her work at Purrfect Paws is adorable, and her tenderness toward the animals (even the prickly ones!) gives the story a lovely emotional anchor. Monty the Bengal—gloriously grumpy and stubborn—absolutely steals the show.
Noah Hathaway is a perfect contrast: city‑polished, busy, and suddenly knocked off balance by grief and responsibility after his grandfather’s death. His return to Lower Brambleton—and to Monty—is full of gentle humour, nostalgia, and the kind of quiet moments that sneak up and soften you. Watching the countryside slowly work its magic on him is one of the biggest joys of the book.
Bella and Noah’s connection is warm and steady, built on shared compassion, community ties, and the healing power of taking things at the village’s pace. There’s a lovely softness to their romance—no drama for drama’s sake, just two people finding home in exactly the place they least expected.
This story has everything I want from a cosy contemporary romance: a welcoming village, lovely friendships, animals with big personalities, emotional growth, and a slow-burn love story that leaves you smiling.
If you’re looking for a feel‑good escape into rolling countryside, sunshine‑filled afternoons, and a community you’ll wish you could join, Home Sweet Home in Brambleton is the perfect pick.
My thanks to Fay Keenan, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC
Home Sweet Home in Brambleton is exactly the kind of cozy, feel-good read that just makes you want to curl up and stay in that world a little longer.
From the start, the small-town setting completely pulled me in. Brambleton has that warm, close-knit community vibe where everyone knows each other, and it honestly feels like a place you’d want to live. Between the charming village life, the friendships, and the sense of community, it just had that comforting atmosphere all the way through.
Bella was such an easy character to root for. She’s trying to find her footing, juggling work and figuring out her next step, and I loved watching her slowly build a sense of stability and belonging. And I have to mention the cat rescue storyline- such a cute and heartfelt addition. Monty absolutely stole a few scenes for me.
Noah was a great contrast to Bella. He’s dealing with grief and responsibility after his grandfather’s death, and I liked seeing how being back in Brambleton slowly changes him. His relationship with Bella develops in that soft, slow-burn way that feels natural and not rushed, which I always appreciate in a romance.
This isn’t a high-drama story, and that’s kind of the point. It’s more about healing, new beginnings, and finding where you belong. The pacing is gentle, and while it’s definitely a bit predictable, it’s the kind of predictability that feels comforting rather than boring.
Overall, this was a really sweet, uplifting read with lots of heart. If you love small-town romances, strong community vibes, and a story that leaves you smiling at the end, this one is definitely worth picking up.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Home Sweet Home in Brambleton by Fay Keenan is a warm, comforting return to small-town life filled with heart, community spirit, and second chances.
From the first few chapters, I felt completely immersed in Brambleton. Keenan has a lovely way of bringing a village to life—the cozy homes, familiar faces, and that unmistakable sense that everyone knows everyone’s business. It gives the story such a welcoming backdrop, while still leaving room for personal struggles and emotional growth.
What really stood out to me was the focus on rebuilding—not just physically, but emotionally. The main character’s journey toward finding stability, belonging, and happiness felt genuine and relatable. There’s a quiet strength in the way she faces challenges, and I loved watching her slowly open herself up to new possibilities. The romance develops naturally, sweet without being rushed, and it adds just the right amount of hope and tenderness to the story.
The supporting characters are another highlight. Friends, neighbors, and family all contribute to that strong sense of community that makes this series so enjoyable. Their interactions add warmth and even a few lighthearted moments that balance out the more emotional scenes.
The pacing is steady and gentle, very much in keeping with the small-town setting. It’s not a high-drama read, but rather one that unfolds thoughtfully, focusing on relationships and personal growth.
Overall, Home Sweet Home in Brambleton is a charming, feel-good story about finding where you truly belong. It’s perfect for readers who love community-centered women’s fiction with heartfelt romance, emotional resilience, and plenty of cozy village charm.
This was a new author for me - but the book caught my eye being centred in a Somerset village that I could well imagine having been born and brought up there.
This was a heartwarming story - involving a one album singer, a high flying London estate agent and a cat sanctuary. The cats were an immediate draw. Bella - the itinerant singer helped out at the Cat Sanctuary and the local bar, Noah the estate agent was executor to his Grandpa Jack’s will and Millie ran the sanctuary. The village has its own community of characters who play a vital role when the Cat Sanctuary and associated charity shop needed help to keep carrying on. Bella becomes Monty - Jack’s cats - .honorary keeper and tenant of Noah while work is carried out on Jacks cottage. Decisions need to be made about Monty’s future and Noah’s brothers say there is one outcome.
Bella and Noah of course fall for one another, Bella reignites her singing and sone writing to help Mollie out and alls well that ends well.
Sounds very cliched? Well yes it is a book that you can predict the outcome but there are various bits and pieces along the way before the happy ending happens.
Personally I had hoped that Noah would keep the cottage and buy his brothers out - he seems to have enough cash to do so by the way the tale ends.
I also didn’t need the language that was encountered, swearing added nothing to the prose and in my particular view grated rather than an addition.
I think I would look out for more from Lower Brambleton but the style of writing slightly put me off.
Bella West, 31, works at Purr-fect Paws Cattery and Rescue Sanctuary. She also works nights at a pub in Lower Brambleton. Having lived overseas for some years she is now back in the UK and enjoying her life as she makes new friends.
Noah Hathaway is aa successful estate agent in London. His beloved grandfather, Jack Hathaway had lived in Lower Brambleton for years. When he became ill, Noah moved him to a nursing home where several months later he passed away. As the Executor of Jack’s will, Noah is tasked with trying to get Jack’s home in shape so he can sell it. His two brothers keep pushing him to get it done. In addition, Jack’s beloved 18-year-old Bengal cat, Monty has been housed at the Cattery for several months and they need to know what to do with him. Monty tends to be a difficult one to warm up to. Bella can attest to that as she gets scratched by Monty often. However, she is determined to make a friend of him.
When Noah was in town to check out Jack’s place, he met Bella and was quite taken with her. He and his brothers decide to put Monty to sleep which breaks Bella’s heart. She is rooming with someone so she can’t take him herself. Can Noah and Bella find a solution to keep Monty alive and help each other as well?
Oh my goodness! As a Cat Mom to 3 gorgeous kitties, putting Monty to sleep had me crying copious tears. But the story does work out to having a happy ending.

This is my second book by Fay Keenan, and it is also the second instalment in the Brambleton series. I have rated both books with three stars. Brambleton #2 Could It Be Magic? While I found the story to be engaging, I felt that the pacing was a bit slow for my taste. Although the narrative had enough intrigue to keep me reading during my spare moments, it didn’t completely draw me in or make me feel compelled to escape into its world.
The Star and Telescope, the local pub featured in the story, sounds like a delightful place to visit. It appears to be not just a gathering spot but the very heart of the community, where friendships are forged and stories are shared. Unfortunately, I found the romantic elements to be lacking, which was a disappointment. Instead, the book focuses on various themes such as cat rescue, grief, the complexities of family relationships, the excitement of new beginnings, the importance of taking risks, the value of friendship, and the journey of healing.
Interestingly, this is the second book I've read in a row where cats play a significant role in the narrative, which may have affected my overall enjoyment. As a dog person, I felt less connected to the story because of this focus on felines. Still, there were moments that shone with warmth and depth, and I appreciated the exploration of the characters' struggles and triumphs, even if they didn't fully resonate with me personally.
This was a really sweet story of Bella, who had a less-than-fabulous early life and who put down roots in Brambleton, working between a cat shelter and a pub. I didn't know when I started reading this book that it was part of a series, but it can easily be read as a standalone :)
Bella loves all her charges at the cat shelter, but one in particular, Monty, has stolen her heart. It isn't that Monty is a sweet kitty, not even close, but somehow his grumpy personality is part of his charm. The problem is that Monty's owner has recently died and his grandchildren seem content to just leave Monty at the shelter indefinitely, which isn't great when you are an elderly moggy.
Noah is very busy in London, building up his business. The last thing he needs to be thinking about is Monty, his grandfather's cranky cat. Nevertheless, because he is the only grandchild in the country, it is up to him to make a decision about Monty. And this is how Bella and Noah meet :)
I am a mad cat woman from way back so reading about Bella with the kitties really endeared her to me. I got totally emotionally involved with all the characters, human and feline!
A lovely story and I am looking forward to the next one in the series, now that I have discovered it :)
This was my second Fay Keenan book, the first being Charlotte and Tristan’s story in 𝘈 𝘚𝘬𝘺 𝘍𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘴.
A full year since my last Keenan read, I forgot how incredibly slow-paced her writing is. The stories are interesting enough to keep reading, but it took me ten days to finish this book. That’s a long time for me. It took me so long because I kept getting BORED. There is such a thing as slow-burn romance, but there was no burn that I could see. The storyline proceeds at a glacial pace.
The characters are also very two-dimensional. I appreciate far more insight into what makes a character tick than what I get from these books. There were hints of backstory that could’ve been fleshed out far more.
Also, Keenan uses far too many exclamation points where they’re not needed.
Overall, a decent book, but not my cup of tea.
I have included some cautions below this line, which could be considered spoilers. Please do not read further if you wish for your reading experience to be completely unspoiled. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
CAUTIONS: POTENTIALLY UPSETTING OCCURRENCES IN THIS BOOK:
detailed talk of pet euthanasia, death of a pet on-page
This is my first book by Fay and I cannot wait to read all of her previous books. I could not get enough of this story and read it in a day. Bella is living in the Village of Lower Brambleton which just sounds so idyllic that I wanted to move there straight away. Bella works at the local pub in the evening and during the day she works at the the cat rescue centre which would be my ideal job as I love cats and have one of my own. The team at Purrfect Paws are looking after a very grumpy cat called Monty after his owner died and the family don’t want him but when things need to be sorted out. Noah is sole beneficiary of the house and Monty but he lives and works elsewhere so he needs to decide what to do. This is book 3 of 4 in the Brambleton series but can be read as a standalone, I am going to make sure Fay is now on my radar as I just loved how well the story flowed, I felt as though I was there looking after the cats with Bella and I felt as though I was her friend. I just wanted to help her in the situations she gets herself into. I loved it, one of my top ten books of this year.
Noah’s grandfather has recently died, naming him as the executor of his will. Not ideal for Noah as he has a busy, thriving estate agency in London which doesn’t leave him with much spare time to deal with his grandpa’s cottage in Brambleton. Not to mention what to do about grandpa’s old cat, Monty, who is currently boarding at the local cat rescue centre. The worst bit is the constant requests from his brothers, both of whom live abroad, for updates on when the cottage will be on the market.
Working at the cat rescue centre, and the local pub, is Bella, who’s been a bit of a nomad most of her life, but she’s finding that life in Brambleton is growing on her. Liking a challenge, she’s trying to get Monty, a cantankerous cat, to accept her friendship.
The first encounter between Noah and Bella doesn’t go well!
Enjoyable and easy to read, the growing relationship between Noah and Bella hits a few hurdles and one of Noah’s brothers nearly ruptures it!
Thanks to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for an ARC for my honest review.
Another fabulous read from Fay Keenan in this latest instalment in the Brambleton series. Bella West has not had the most idyllic childhood and as such has always struggled to settle anywhere. However Lower Brambleton feels like a place where she could put down roots. Working at Purrfect Paws cat rescue and the local pub she is part of the community. When Noah Hathaway’s very much loved grandpa Jack dies his grumpy Bengal cat Monty finds himself a resident at Purrfect Paws. Noah starts to visit Lower Brambleton to sort out Jack’s cottage and make it ready to sell but the more he visits the more drawn to the place he feels. Also meeting Bella changes things for both of them. This is such a lovely story and flows so beautifully with a bit of drama, family dynamics, a sense of community along with romance and new beginnings. I loved the characters and how they interacted, plus how each characters storylines were woven through the main story. Really looking forward to the next one in the series. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC
I loved the previous two books in this series, the setting in the Somerset village of Lower Brambleton is the type of place that I'd love to live in. I'd certainly much prefer living there to being in London as Noah does, and certainly not in a high pressure environment as his. Bella helps out in the Purrfect Paws cat rescue where one of her favourites is Monty, a Bengal cat and a long term resident who had belonged to Noah's grandfather. My wife and I have had cats all of our married life, so can relate to the joys (and otherwise) of living with a cat, although we lost ours last year unexpectedly. The problems being experienced by the rescue centre must be the same as most of other similar centres and we are looking for a rescue to join us soon, so the story really resonates with me. In summary a lovely, warm, cosy story that I really enjoyed. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
This is a sweet, clean small town romance whose characters will have you falling in love with them. Bella is struggling to find her way. She doesn't have a permanent place to live and even with two jobs is unable to get a place of her own. Jack is dealing with the death of his uncle and trying to deal with everything he left behind--including his old curmudgeon of a cat.
This really is a story of dealing with the past and trying to move forward in a productive way. Bella and Jack end up helping each other and growing some feelings along the way. The town is also supportive of those who need help.
This was a pleasant read that had it's sad moments, but overall was heartwarming. The characters were likable (for the most part) and the backstories of Bella and Jack were interesting. This can be read as a standalone.
Thanks to Boldwood Books for the digital copy. All thoughts are my own.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! I absolutely loved this story—it provided so many feel-good vibes. This is a warm, cozy tale filled with an interesting cast of characters and wonderful moments.
The story is centered around a cat sanctuary, which was just delightful. I especially loved the fun of comparing American to English words throughout the book! It’s a light, pleasant read with a very sweet romance at its heart. This was exactly the kind of "warm hug" a reader needs, and I truly hope there will be more to come in this series.
Obsessed with cozy village vibes? Head over to my profile @TheLitWhisperer to see more of my Brambleton favorites!
I loved this story, so many feel-good vibes! Bella is usually a bit of a nomad but she's been in Lower Brambleton longer than most other places, working for the cat sanctuary and the local pub. Noah's grandad lived in the village and Noah grew to love the place. After his grandad passes away and he needs to sell the cottage, he's unsure as to whether he really wants to leave. Between Bella and her secret past (a good one), Noah and his desire to stay in the village, and Noah's grandad's curmudgeonly Bengal cat, Monty, this is a warm, cosy story filled with great characters and wonderful moments. Hopefully there'll be more to come in the series. Thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Fay Keenan for the free ARC. All opinions are my own.
Great book. Noah is home to his Grandpa Jacks house after his death. It’s not in great shape and as an estate agent he knows it needs work. He is tied, he has emotional Attachment this house, he is being pressured by his two brothers who want their inheritance - both of them seem deeply unlikeable too. He also has to decide what to do with Monty his grandpas old cantankerous cat who is residing it’s lucky paws a cat sanctuary and boarding cattery. He meets Bella, titan haired barmaid and cat carer at the sanctuary. She loves Monty but has no home of her own to keep him. The friendships in this book are great. The scenery too. This is a lovely read and I sunk into it. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
A sweet, heartwarming romance involving cats - what is there not to love?! Lower Brambleton is such a cosy setting and watching Bella and Noah’s love story unfold was really lovely, but Monty has to be my star of the show. As a kid I was obsessed with the Animal Ark books and this felt like an adult extension of that kind of world, which I really enjoyed! Bella’s subplot also added a new layer to the story which kept things interesting and made it stand out from some of the other books in this genre - she definitely isn’t a cookie cutter protagonist which I love. This was my first time reading Fay Keenan and I’m sure it won’t be the last as I breezed through it. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!
This is my fifth Fay Keenan novel, and the first from the Brambleton series. Although I was temped into the novel by the beginning with the mention of cats, I found the book took way too long to really get started (I felt more interested from 29% onwards).
There was some touching backstory here and there, but I felt like I didn’t know the characters. I did like Bella’s housemate, Marieke and her backstory.
I liked the focus on characters having come to be there from abroad: Marieke being from Holland, and Bella having been there for work. Noah’s brothers in France and Dubai, and Noah in London. All this made the characters’ backstory, at least in terms of location, interesting. I did want them, and the settings, to be better fleshed out, though.
I felt the exception to this was the pub, The Star and Telescope. It is obviously the center of the village. I liked the dark blue paint and constellations to give it atmosphere.
Lower Brambleton fits the typical image of a small village. I felt it was described in a rush, though.
I liked the cats, and didn’t like Bella much. I also didn’t like Noah much. He seemed very ungrateful about his inheritance of the cottage and uncaring about Monty the cat and his welfare.
I had cats as pets at various points in my life, and each of them was special and very loved.
The romance is nonexistent and then barely there amongst annoyance and bad atmosphere from both Bella and Monty. Both of them had me annoyed at how they treated each other.
1 star.
Thanks to Faye Keenan and Boldwood Books for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
Bella has made Brambleton her home after a nomadic life. She works at the cat rescue and the local pub, has a room in a friend's house, and is content until she meets Noah, who unsettles her calm existence. Noah is financially successful, but his family is fragmented and is grieving the recent loss of his beloved grandfather. I like this story's focus on cat rescue, which gives it a unique appeal. It's an emotional and realistic tale of moving on and learning to trust with characters that you invest in. The animal characters add authenticity and depth to the story. I like the gentle, small-community ethos, the Somerset setting, and the characters who bring the story to life. I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
This is a sweet romance set in a tiny town three hours from London. I have read the other books set here and this one is just as good. Bella has been a wanderer since she left school to pursue a music career and then quit. Her time in Brambleton has been the longest stop and she likes her work at the cat rescue and boarding plus working as a bartender at the local pub. One cantankerous senior cat has been there a while since his owner went into a nursing home and died there. Finally one of the grandsons, Noah, has come back to town to start dealing with the estate. After things start off on the wrong foot, it takes some convincing to go forward.
Home Sweet Home in Brambleton is a comforting, feel-good story about fresh starts and the power of community. The small-town setting is full of charm, warmth, and familiar faces that make it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The story unfolds at a gentle pace, focusing on relationships, healing, and finding where you truly belong. It’s uplifting without feeling overly dramatic, which makes it perfect when you want something reassuring and hopeful. A cozy, heartwarming read that feels like catching up with old friends and being reminded that new beginnings can happen at any stage of life.
If you are a cat lover, you will be delighted to know that most of the book revolves around Bella as she works at a cat shelter. She “falls” in love with a grumpy cat, Monty, and ends up being intertwined with its reluctant owner, Noah.
As Noah goes through his own journey of discovering what he wants in life while coping with grief, his connection with Bella grows progressively stronger. I loved how their initial animosity soon turns into close friendship. My favourite scenes were definitely those intimate chats between them.
I know I am not the only one who thought this book was so sweet. Bella who the town sweetheart, she’s new there but has amazing people always looking out for her and she her true identity, Noah is going through it losing his grandfather and having to sell his home which has always felt like home to him. This book was all around sweet, these two are perfect. Small town romances always win, I did not mind the slow burn in this book which is a first for me.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
Wow this was a tough read. Does the author hate cats? It seems so. Why would the main character even consider for a second dating a man who wanted to euthanize a cat just because he didn’t want the responsibilities of taking in his late grandfathers beloved pet? And spurred on by his evil brothers too! What in the actual heck. Bella is no animal lover if she’s willing to date a man like this. And honestly a pet dies in this novel and people just do not seem to care. I expected a party thrown at that point.
Avoid this if you love cats. The story isn’t even worth it.
Home Sweet Home in Brambleton by Fay Keenan is a heartwarming story about fresh starts, community, and the courage it takes to open your heart to new possibilities. Set in a charming countryside village, the novel beautifully blends romance, friendship, and the comforting magic of small-town life.
With lovable characters, a delightful setting, and even a stubborn cat adding a touch of humor, this uplifting read offers the perfect escape for fans of feel-good contemporary romance.
Just from the title alone you know it's going to be a heartwarming story and it did not disappoint! Fay Keenan's writing style is just a like a warm hug and I love it so much. Noah and Bella were so sweet and I just loved everything about them. Thank you so much to NetGalley and to the publisher for my digital ARC!!
A good, easy read that sees us back in Lower Brambleton. It’s a bit of a slow burn romance, but the star of the show for me was Monty, who I think was the best described character with the most personality. I do wish the book had revisited some of the characters from the previous books as I would have loved to hear more about the,, but overall, a good read.
A sweet read that will have you reaching for tissue one moment and happy the next. Dealing with hardships and getting a second chance make this a read to remember. It is part of a series, but it is a stand alone read. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Boldwood and leaving a review by my own choice.
