As Nathan faces the very real threat of becoming a slave to the owner of the bounty branded on his soul and skin, his brother Jim uses his changeling abilities more and more trying to save him. Every changeling throughout history has turned evil once their powers manifest fully, meaning time may be running out for them both as Jim nears True Awakening.
Fae hunter and incubus Sasha Kelly is prophesized to save Nathan, but while Nathan has embraced his feelings for the other man, he fears their time together will be cut short—either from his impending fate or Jim’s.

Review: So. Much. Emotion. Ugh, these books! I kept tearing up throughout the book not because of sad things but because I’m a sap, and there were all these little moments that were so touching, or so loving, or so meaningful, or so deep, or so perfect.
Something else I really liked was the way Nathan wasn’t invincible. I’m getting tired of normal human characters who get shot, stabbed, and beat up but are fine five minutes later. Nathan actually had pain, needed time to heal, took meds, got groggy, took naps, etc. Even though part of me wanted to slap him myself for constantly re-opening his wounds, he was also kinda cute when he was grumpy.
There was one line that kind of stole the show for me in this book though: “You’re not even lying…” I didn’t even know I was so invested in Jim and Alex’s lack-of-relationship, but I swear I almost melted into a puddle of sap (yes, I seriously just used that word twice in one review) when I read that line. So if you were already of fan of the Jim-Alex relationship in Book 1, you’ll be happy to know it gets a little more attention in this book.
But don’t worry, the Nathan-Sasha relationship was just as adorable as ever, but with even more depth as they became closer.
So overall, the characters were even more lovable, the plot had just as much going on, and it was another great book in the series!
*I've read this book multiple times. This review was written after my 2nd read.*
3rd Read Update: Five years later, and my first review still holds.
I just want to add, I think part of the reason these books make me so emotional is because bad things happen to these characters, but they always have each other, and because of that, they're able to get through to the other side. That's what gets me the most, the wonderful relationships between these characters.
Also, I want the relationship that Nathan and Sasha have. I read about a lot of great relationships, but I don't necessarily want a real relationship like all of them. There's something that these two have though that is just so beautiful and perfect though. Not perfect in the sense that they never have any issues to talk about, and sometimes talking is their issue (i.e. they have trouble communicating), but there's just such a strong feeling of love and understanding and rightness between them.

4 Stars Goodreads|Amazon Meg's Review: I was super excited when Amanda emailed me about reviewing book two in this series. I really enjoyed the plot line of book one. I was not disappointed with this one either. The characters are even better than the first time around.
With reading as many books I do, I find that I forget the small details when it had been a few months. With this book I was able to jump right back in without having to re-read book one. This story was so original and inventive that it stuck with me.
Nathan, Jim and Sasha are even more fantastic then I remember. Sasha especially. I forgot how much I loved him in book one. I loved how deep into everything we got in this book. More fae, more information, and more danger.
A fantastic read. It flowed well and kept your attention. I definitely recommend this for any Paranormal fan. It encompasses a lot of different interest points in its genera and lives up to its ratings. Synopsis: Nathan Grier’s dark fae bounty looms overhead. As he faces the very real threat of becoming a slave to the bounty’s owner, his brother Jim uses his changeling abilities more and more trying to save him. Every changeling throughout history turns evil once their powers manifest, meaning time may be running out for both of them as Jim nears True Awakening.
Fae hunter and incubus, Sasha Kelly, is prophesized to save Nathan, but while Nathan has embraced his feelings for the other man, he fears their time together will be cut short—either from his impending fate…or Jim’s.
I NEED BOOK THREE NOW! I really love this series so much. Nathan is such a great character. The love between him and Sasha is amazing. Jim is great, just be with Alex already! The world they live in is so interesting. My heart broke in quite a few places, especially the ending. That was a punch in the gut x 3. I need more.
Changeling is an intriguing read that combines solid writing with amazing characters, worldbuilding, and hot, sizzling romance. There are thee man characters: Nathan Grier, his brother Jim, and Sasha Kelly, a fae hunter and incubus prophesized to save Nathan. There’s a large rule for prophecies and fate, and the world of Changeling is truly interesting. There are different kinds of fae and a lot of fae lore. There’s never any infodumping though – the worldbuilding happens gradually.
The dynamics between the characters are amazing. They each have their own special skillset, and their own personality. Sometimes they match, sometimes they clash. It’s always entertaining. The book is suspenseful as well, and the characters develop throughout the book, growing and changing.
A solid read for fans of paranormal romance. The author has a keen understanding of how to write romance, and how to portray a character’s feelings.
This is an incredible continuation of an already amazing story. We continue to follow the trials of Nathan, his brother Jim, and the irresistible incubus Sasha. I have loved reading about these three as they continue their harrowing and difficult journey together. The dynamic between the three as a whole and between the individual men grows deeper as Jim draws nearer to his Awakening and they near the completion of the fae hunt set upon them by Malak. Bonds between brother and brother, man and lover, and friends are tested and strengthened as they strive to defeat an overwhelming foe at impossible odds. The only question you'll have after reading this next fabulous installment of The Incubus Saga is: At what price, love?
One of my FAVORITE book series of the YEAR! OMG OMG OMFG! This review is for all three books but I will not give out spoilers, don't worry!
Okay so, first of all , where my supernatural fans at? Can I just say, this pays some really great homage to that wonderful show. I'm not saying that there were things sprinkled in there that could possibly be supernatural references because I am not the author and can't say those things, but.... (I am totally saying that If there were then I totally caught them and they were fantastic! Sneaky Amanda Meuwissen, you). So yeah, anyway.. This was totally reminiscent of the supernatural world only with Fey instead of demons. The brotherly love and sacrifice struggle was still there though, and so real.
Alright, lets talk about Nathan, or as I like to call him, "you fantastic, naive, poor, (dean-like but younger and in love), awesome, conceited, funny, closeted for a bit, hottie, you". He gave me these mixed emotions all the time. I mean, half the time I loved him, the other half I wanted to punch him in the face, but then at the same time I wanted him to have more really hot sexy moments with a certain someone.. *cough cough* Anyways, Nathan's character did a lot of things to me. In fact, I have comprised a list. List of some of the things Nathan did to me: -made me laugh -made me cry -made me frustrated so I had no choice but to yell at my roommate about it -made me enroll my girlfriend into reading it because I had these FEELINGS and I didn't know how to HANDLE them -forced me to get yelled at by my girlfriend about how frustrated and in love she was and how she had these FEELINGS and now we BOTH had to deal with them... So yeah, Nathan was a really great and I will love his stupid ass forever.
Moving on, Sasha. Oh. My. Goodness. Sasha. As much as I love Nathan, Sasha was THE BEST! Omg he really had to be in order to deal with Nathan and his crazy baggage. He was so entirely lovable and endearing and patient and not AT ALL what I expected his character to be! I mean, in my experience, usually when the main character has to go get help from a bounty hunter, said bounty hunter usually fits a certain strong, tough, stereotype. Not that I have a problem with said stereotypical bounty hunter, but I am SO happy that Sasha did not fit this bill at all! Once you know his backstory it all makes sense but my goodness he is the most precious while simultaneous bad ass person ever!
Now for Jim, I loved him. He was such a great brother. He goes through so much throughout the series I don't even know what to say and I don't want to give any spoiler's so I won't say much, but he was awesome!
Now for the world building and plot. The world building was fantastic! They sprinkled in the information throughout so it didn't seem like too much at one time and they still left a bit of mystery that you uncover throughout the books. The plot was original and unique. Even though this book reminded me of supernatural a bit and it seems like it would follow a certain story line based on the synopsis, it really was unpredictable and not at all what I expected. I really thought I knew what was going to happen at certain points, but then Amanda would catch me off guard and go the other way. It made for an exciting read that kept me (and my girlfriend) on the edge of my seat. It was truly a roller coaster, but a really fun one! There were ups and downs and twists and hot sexy times (incubus, hello) and it was all around amazing!
So, if you want my humble opinion, yeah, it was pretty much epically awesome. I really did not want this book to end.. and it was 3 books! GO READ IT AND HELP ME (and my girlfriend) WITH ALL MY FEELINGS!
Picking up very soon after the conclusion of the previous story Ms. Meuwissen continues to keep readers on the edge of their seats as the clock is still ticking for brothers Jim and Nathan and the corruption of their souls. Along for the ride into danger is the sexy and supportive succubus Sasha who it's foretold with be the savior of Nathan. This trio is not only entertaining but the epitome of close-knit as each would die for the other and it's this closeness that put Jim and Nathan in this fight to keep their souls to begin with.
Throughout the previous story Nathan and Jim tried to portray a brave face not letting the other know their fears. In this story with the end feeling closer than ever they finally open up and express their fears of themselves and each other with these feelings of fear palpable. Their brotherly love was heartwarming and heartbreaking to see as they desperately tried to stay away from the darkness slowly overtaking them. Along with brotherly love we have the growing affection between Nathan and Sasha that had quite a rocky start. Things start off much calmer here which allows Nathan to slowly become accepting of his feelings for Sasha which made for numerous sweet and sexy encounters between these two strong-willed men. Nathan is grateful for the unconditional support and sense of safety Sasha brings him and gets closer to the L-word that flows so easily off Sasha's tongue. Sasha is utterly charming and a breath of fresh air that brings strength and optimism to two men struggling to stay true to themselves and the multi-layered relationship between friend and lover guides this story through an action-packed tale full of twists and turns.
Once again the worldbuilding is vivid, intriguing, and impeccable with creatures both fascinating and frightening. There's unrelenting tension from start to finish as the future of Jim and Nathan hangs in the balance tempered with an intense and flirty romance between Sasha and Nathan. Ms. Meuwissen has once again left me breathless with her dark paranormal tale imbued with flashes of sexiness and lightness and I'm greatly anticipating what comes next in this masterful series.
Changeling's storyline picks up right after Incubus' left off. This is a series that must be read in order, and continues to focus primarily on Nathan's perspective of events. I struggled with the initial world building and history in Incubus, but found none of those development problems in Changeling.
I loved how Meuwissen delved right into the emotional heart of her three main characters, Nathan, Jim and Sasha. The complexity of their multi-layered relationships with each other intrigued me from the very beginning. Friendship, loyalty, love and commitment are all weighed and measured. Asking the tough questions of 'What price would you pay to find love?' and 'What would you be willing to sacrifice in order to save the ones you love?'
Their paranormal world is crafted with detail, and while Changeling is ultimately a story about love, Meuwissen is not afraid to expose the darkness that dwells within its depths. I would recommend this book to readers who are looking to experience a detailed and complex story that reflects in fiction the reality of life. I am completely hooked on the Incubus Saga and anxiously await the final installment!
Ok so my review of the incubus (book 1) was random and seemed to just spout off my joy of what I just read in no particular order. Literally reviewed the book the moment I finished reading it.
All I want to say in this review of Changeling is how much I love Amanda Meuwissen for writing these books. I am so eager for the third book to come out its making me crazy. If what I read is true about its release date in August, it will be a very nice birthday present for someone to buy me :). I initially bought the kindle versions of both books but I will definitely be ordering the paper back copies as well to put them on my shelf as I can definitely picture myself reading this series at least 3 more times over.
Changeling was like the other reviews say better than the first but only because it was that much more packed with what made the first book so amazing. The 2nd book in no way puts the 1st to shame just makes the series that much exceptionally better.
The last 2 chapters had me going crazy but the brief glimpse of the third book we got made things a tiny bit better :)
I wish August was here already so I can have the third book in my hands! Again to anyone who reads this review PLEASE don't have any doubt that you will love this book as much as everyone else has so far. Read all Amanda's books, you will not be let down!
As wonderful as book one was, this sequel was truly brilliant. The relationships introduced in book one bloom into fullness beautifully. Casting aside the inhibitions that have kept their hearts desires at arms length, each brother allows themselves to break down emotional barriers, giving in to their desires and truly letting others into their hearts. This author has once again demonstrated a true understanding and appreciation of love, and the power behind that love that motivates each decision and movement that these characters make. The writing of these books, and the development of the characters allow a reader to emotionally connect with this story. This series, while still being an action packed and fast paced adventure, maintains a strong romantic quality. True to its niche. I am again thoroughly satisfied, and in love with this series. Many more thanks to the author (who is also very sweet and charming herself).
Another barebones summary because there is just too much going on in this book for me to do it any justice. Meuwissen continues to build on the amazing world that she created in Incubus, drawing us deeper into the story of this trio of men. This book builds on the first, delving deeper into the world of fae and monsters. One of the things I love most about this series is the way that these three guys care for one another. There is a tie between them, blood and love, and I love that they would do anything to keep each other safe.
This book is a great addition from the first. Still loving it. The characters really come to life and you get to know a title more from each one as you turn the pages. You can help but feel for them all and keep you fingers crosses that it will all work out in the end. Really well written and the reader get sucked into another world which is yet still so alike to ours. You can't help but fall in love with the main characters. Throughly enjoy this book and I will give a 5 starts there are no more to give. Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock
I just have to say WOW. This is definitely an interesting, action packed addition to the trilogy. It picks up fairly close to where it left off in the first book and then once things start happening they don't let up for a second. And I absolutely did not see that ending coming. I'm definitely so glad that there's another book and that it's already out so I don't have to wait to find out what happens!
First, I would like to thank the author Amanda Meuwissen for giving me this book for an honest review. I love enjoyed book very much. The world building is amazing. The story-line is really good. The characters are well developed and written. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
There's something to be said about a story which is a blend of adventure/supernatural and romance - and manages to do both quite well. Subtlety in moods and emotions, an engrossing plot (well, aside from the first part which describes a vacation; if you have a vacation with a plot, it usually isn't a vacation) and a world that sticks in your mind.
This novel demonstrated a wonderful understanding and appreciation of love, and motivates these characters. This is more emotional and showing a multi-layered relationships with each other; friendship, loyalty, love and commitment. I love the unconditional support the couple has and struggle to stay true to themselves. The book bought more action-packed with many twists and turns.
Gah! Now I have to wait for book 3! I love this series...it's so different from what I usually read, but the story just grabs me and I love the characters.
This is the continuing story of Nate, Jim and Sasha; while they're trying to find a way to get Nate out of the hold Malak has. They have a month to accomplish a task set by Malak and if they do, Nate is free of the dark Sidhe. With side quests and friends help will they get this done in time?
Pros: 😍 This is actually a good story. The chemistry between the characters is really good. I liked meeting Wade's brother Leven. He is an interesting person. I loved the part after they blew up the Animus House. It was hilarious. Getting to meet Sasha's friends was nice. I'm invested in their journey.
Cons:🤦♀️ Nate constantly making comments about things/people being girly was demeaning to women. And his preoccupation with things/him being manly and then he, Jim and Sasha crying over minor things. Nate getting hurt almost daily got old. Nate drinking a drink he knew was drugged because he thought he could handle it and the ensuing encounter was just bad writing. The group trying to catch the Spriggan at Leven's school reminded me of a Three Stooges skit. And lastly the book was way too long because there was too much of daily BS thrown in. We didn't need to hear about daily bathes, eating, sleeping, moving from place to place, step by step. It was too much filler that bogged the story down. A good editor should've cut these stories down by a third.
I appreciate the author wants to be generous with page length (almost 500) for this sequel, but it almost seemed like a grouping of short stories with the gang. There is still the overarching plotline that is the point of the series, but they run into various adventures that - while technically related to other stuff - feel disconnected like adventures that are short stories or could be fledged out into their own novellas. So, while they were interesting, it became a bit messy having it all in one book, so this one kind of felt like it wrapped up but then kept continuing. In other words a little too long for this type of story. I also am not a fan of the easily wounded Incubus - I know he has a sensitive history and is easily hurt, but angst or emotional upheaval every other chapter doesn't attract me. It was interesting how the author kept mentioning a traumatic bully event that Nathan went through, and how it kept flashing back to him - that's more realistic than the way authors typically put it instantly out of the characters minds when the story moves on.
There is so much STORY in this story.😏 Even at only halfway through the book the trio have already been through the wringer and then some. I had gotten the impression that this book would be more build up to the eventual finale, but I hadn't quite expected the different kinds of danger they'd encounter when not being tracked by anyone (namely Gabriel).
I've loved meeting all the new characters and allies in this story, especially Wally and Sasha's friends. After the halfway point of the story is really when the stress and action ramps up again. I cannot believe how many things happen to the team, and the cliffhanger ending ramped up my blood pressure (seriously, I measured it).
Changeling is an incredible continuation of the Incubus Saga, following our heroes as they try to save themselves through any means, even when they're not in agreement. I know the finale is going to be incredible, and I'll have to make sure I jump into Sidhe sooner rather than later, although I'm very unlikely to forget the details of this book anytime soon.
I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Wow. This is book 2 in the series and you must read book 1 as it features the same three characters and overall arc. This book is told in Nathan’s point of view. Sasha and Nathan are getting closer while Jim is still trying to fight his changeling nature. As the three of them go to different locations to try and find a way to get Nathan out of the contract. You also get to see Sasha’s old friends who, one in particular, didn’t like that Sasha became a seal. There is lots of action as they try to help Nathan with their quest. I loved this book and looking forward to reading the last one in the series.
Changeling by Amanda Meuwissen is book 2 in the The Incubus Saga series. I really enjoyed noon 1, but this one was even better! It picks up right after book 1 and we are not bogged down in the world-building so the action is more intense. Nathan and Sasha’s relationship continues to develop, but we are also gifted with more of Jim and Alex. The story does end on a cliffhanger but thankfully I don’t have to wait to read the conclusion of this one! I am so excited to see how everything plays out. This cannot be read as a standalone and must be read in order.
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review.
I loved Changling by Amanda Meuwissen. It's the second book in The Incubus Saga series. I loved Sasha, Nathan, and Jim. So much happened as they tried to find a way to break Nathan's contract. Sasha got reunited with some of the Incubus and succubus from his childhood. Jim continued to learn and harness his powers, and Nathan learned that no matter how powerful Jim became that at his heart he was still Jim and he would do anything to save Nathan. I also loved the relationship between Sasha and Nathan. I can't wait to read the next book to see how they beat the bad guy and get Nathan back.
