There is more to Peyton than meets the eye and there is far more at stake than just her soul.
G.P. Burdon predominantly writes dark thrillers, taking his inspiration from authors such as Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King, but has his own delightfully twisted style. Anything can happen in his stories and he revels in shocking his readers, as he aims to provide original tales that readers will love and will haunt them long after finishing the final page.
Burdon currently lives in Hobart, Australia, and has recently gained international recognition after the release of book one of his 'Reaper' series, 'Angel of Death.'
I love this book. I enjoyed it from start to finish. I wish it has a series. I recommend this book to anyone who comes across this review. find it and read it. you will glad you did. I assure you. you rock Burdon
It’s a shame, because the story definitely had potential. Simply put, the story felt flat. It lacked the power to pull me in, had no shape, depth or distinct taste…like a dish looking tasty but lacking seasoning. The characters had a name but the essence that makes them ‘alive’ -the traits- were missing, there was not much emotion or thought coming from them. Interactions and dialogues were plain. The author had good ideas, but for my taste the quality of execution was lacking.
-I didn't finish it and will not continue the series, I'm sorry.
I wasnt sure at first when reading this. it took me a few chapters to really get in to the book, but from the point where Peyton and Darius meet Eve and was fighting all the animals in the Garden I was hooked.
It was a very good ending and did not expect the twist with Azeral. Looking forward to reading the seconds one to find out why Peyton still has no fate.

Unbelievable and yet so real and scary. So will written I could actually feel the places, the action. I've got to find the next book right away. I never write a review until I've finished a series, but now I'm letting everyone know to get the whole set right off.
I found it hard to work out why I didn't like this book, on the surface it has everything I usually enjoy, I think it just lacked emotion and I felt almost as though there was no real plot just random events if that makes sense.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
Overall this was an enjoyable read, it was gripping in the right places and although the writing was weak at times, generally speaking, it was pretty decent.
However.
I am really not a huge fan of books that end in such a way they are basically forcing you to read the next in the series. To me, if a book grips me and I like the writing I am probably going to pick up another book in the series/another book by the author - I don't want to read however many pages only to find the story hasn't really been resolved. Had this book ended with and not had the last scene in the garden, and then gone into the epilogue with Fate, I wouldn't have minded so much. But because of that last scene in the garden - I ended up feeling annoyed at the book. Now, that doesn't make a lot of sense because they both hint at future things to come but to me the conversation in the garden shows that story hasn't ended - so there was no real resolution for me (especially as we then find out that ).
Whilst I am on a moaning front I will add that some of the earlier action scenes (mainly ) were a bit... not jarring but.. not quite not well written ... but not quite right (a bit like the writing in this review - definitely not my finest hour this!). That said the author did really rather well with the creature whose name I forgot that was with the spiders... It doesn't help I have arachnophobia, but I really wasn't happy during that section of the book - so that shows good writing skill.
Also (final moan) there are some really predictable moments in this book that could have been better disguised ()
So... will I read on in the series. Mmmmm. Maybe. I am pretty certain this was another of my free Amazon downloads so it might be possible that I already have or will at some point get the next for free to. Will I actively go and look for the next book... no, probably not. But I wouldn't mind re-reading this again at some point.
This was free on Amazon, so decided to give it a try. Darius is a Reaper, helping souls to pass on to the afterlife. One of his innate abilities is that he can look at someone and know when their time is meant to expire. So he's confused when he comes across Peyton, a nurse whose trying to resuscitate a person who has just had their soul taken by him, that doesn't appear to have any time of death in her future.
As he starts looking into this, we are introduced to allies and enemies in the pantheon of mythical figures associated with life and death.
A good start to a series, some of the main characters could have been done a bit better but hopefully will grow in further books.
Angels, Archangels, Reapers (yes, more than one)- Heaven and Hell aren't what they used to be! In this fast-paced story, a Reaper saves the life of a mortal woman from a another Reaper gone rogue - Darius and Peyton, the two main characters, must find out why the rogue Reaper wants her soul, and have to travel through Purgatory and beyond to try and save Peyton. Fast paced, brilliant plot and narration style (although it could use re-editing for a couple of minor grammar and spelling errors), this was one of those books I could not put down until I finished it. And now I want more!!! Loved it!
The characters are awesome in this book and it most definitely makes you think of all the choices you make on a daily bases I recommend this book if you like Angels & Satan fighting...Thank U G.P Burdon
This book was really clumsily written, and lacked any sense of character journey or development. I could work out the ending at the beginning of the book, and the plot twists barely twist. It was a real struggle to finish
not my kind of book really but thought I would give it a go. Enjoyed it, kept me wondering what was going on right till the end. I have to admit, this book really made me think.
Burdon has written an interesting, and open-ended tale of Death and Life, with many references to traditional Western views and classic (as in classical thought) ideas of three thousand years past. Part philosophy, part adventure, this story is hard to characterize... but, I think, that is what Burdon intends.
In some ways I am reminded of Pilgrims' Progress, in other passages, the Odyssey, and The Inferno. However, this story is written in a modern style...almost a detective/ adventure tale. Reading this has put me in a very philosophical mood.
