Reāli gaidu nākamo sērijas grāmatu 9 no 10.

Rambling narrative

Ok story, though its getting a bit drab and repetitive at this point. And to make it worse, it's written in a such a way that extends the book with about 300 pages of random nonsense that really felt like a drag to get through.

I'm not a fan of having to skip paragraphs (or in this case entire chapters - 10 chapters for one fight! Dragonball took less episodes to do that!!), but found that I needed to for this book.

could not be a better example of quitting while you're ahead. this has been dragged out so far that it is ridiculous. even at the point of ending a story arc, it still bloats it unnecessarily.

I absolutely love this this series. Seeing these chapters release day by day and week by week was 100% worth it. I won’t spoil it but the fights are getting better and better every book. Zogarth has really improved his already great writing skills and it shows here!

Really not sure how to rate books in series this long. Am I rating the actual book or the series. Pretty much the series at this point. I am not even rating the story; I am rating my enjoyment from reading about these characters. There is a familiarity with them that always puts a smile on my face. The story part is secondary to me at this point, though there were some pretty big developments in this one. Yip of Yore versus the Viper? Yeah, that happened in this one. Jake's confrontation with Ell ’Hakan? Yep, that also happened in this one. What about everything with the first sage? Yep, that was addressed as well. Again, to me all that was secondary to really enjoying the characters and how the interact with each other. That's it. I had fun. I liked it. Looking forward to the next one. My only complaint is that Travis Baldree takes so long to do audiobooks now that I have had to read the books instead of listening to the narration since I don't feel like waiting 9 months after the book comes out to listen to the audiobook.

4/5 - Not my favorite of the series, but glad that it concluded a major arc. That patron of his is rather tricky and I like seeing the hints of who he is beyond friend to mortal. There are definite hints to what the future for the main character will hold, but I'm curious to see what the next arc in his development is. The last third of the book seems to be setting him up for a strong foundation for something - but there's a lot more of the world to explore.

Zogarth is obviously a fan of "Dragonball Z"

The first almost 40% of this book is way too political. I understand it had to happen this way as Villy was running the show and he is a cunning snake god. We get to see the end results of the Villy and Yip story arch, and as expected, the twists were wild.

46% of the book marks the official fight or culmination of Jake and Ell' Hakan. And it is at this point that I personally felt the story turned four stars instead of five stars. The entire fight I kept picturing the main character from "Dragonball Z" and a certain pink/purple bad guy (if you know, you know) and the fight that... Just... Wouldn't... End. I actually just started skimming as this fight lasted well past the 60% mark. That's right, one quarter of the book was dedicated to this fight.

The Augur is absolutely up to something sneaky!! Can't wait to see what Jacob is doing.

Anyway, we finally get to see a long awaited Cameo and the results from that meeting were wild!!

Have Fun!!!

Probably the best book in the series! I’m excited to see what’s in store for Jake since a lot of things were wrapped up in this book.

This book was a great culmination of many of the long plot lines in this series.
So far the primal hunter series has been able to maintain a solid level of growth, and interest throughout the series. I would highly recommend for any lit rpg enjoyers.

Long series - long descriptions?

Some big story arcs have come to a close in this book, and the next promise some new paths. Jake and his patron manage what seems like the impossible, and Jake certainly learns from his experiences.

I wonder if it is the nature of long series, but this entry gives us several long sequences of conflict - granted that’s what the main character is about - but I nearly gave up through the big battle encompassing a good chunk of chapters.

Better than the previous installment content-wise, and I would have given it four stars if the prose hadn't been what it was. It's ugly and continues to create unnecessary bloat I have to skim for sanity's sake.
To be fair, I could tolerate it if it was limited to narration, but the dialogue is as awful. My suspension of disbelief doesn't extend to literal gods (and everyone else) using the vocabulary and grammar of our protagonist and narrator.
"Don't get me wrong," I'm so critical of it *because* I like the story that's being told — I'd wish the execution matched it. It gives me the impression the author doesn't give a fuck, so maybe I should neither.

Btw, the covers are chef's kiss. If I stop reading, I'll at least come by to check out future artwork.

Less Lit Than RPG

I still really like the story, but there's less story going on than self reflection and upgrading. It was kind of disappointing. Still looking forward to the next one though.

Slowed pacing

Definitely slowed compared to the pacing of previous books a great deal. It was truly a long drawn out section for the pinnacle fights. Jake’s fight alone was 10 chapters almost 100 pages. Seems like there was a lot of repeat of Manny concepts already discussed in the current chapter in previous chapters. This, along with a Drawn out fights just served to increase the word count. Being said, I still love the character and the storyline of the books, and will continue to read series in the future.

Ok story, Not the best of the series

It feels like Zogarth gets bogged down in word count. There is a lot of unnecessary descriptions that go on forever and kinda of repeat. Not going to lie there were several times I just skimmed through the fluff of the chapters just to get to the meat. The fights dragged on for too many chapters. I'm hoping the next book isn't as bad. Jake is one of my top 3 favorite characters but, I'm not sure if I can keep going much longer.

Finally we wrap up the Yip/orange-dude plot!

I’m giving this book five stars as a bonus to the author for finally doing what I’ve been gaining more and more annoyance with in finally finishing a main plot line. However, this book is more like the final act of that story plus a hefty dose of filler and setup for the next. So it’s more fair to say I have mixed feelings.

As I said, this isn’t a self-contained story. There’s no main story arc within this book, just the conclusion of one. So it starts off like we start just started watching Star Wars at the final battle scene. I don’t personally like books in this genre like that. I understand the need for overarching plots, plots within that and plots within those, but when you’re caught up in a series, this becomes an annoyance. That said, this author always gives us a good summary to start and so big thanks for that. It’s shocking how many authors ignore this, and those publish less frequently than Zogarth.

As for the conclusion of what is so far, the biggest plot line of the series, outside of Jake’s path itself, the author did his best to live up to that overly long setup. So the fight between the patrons was lengthy with a satisfying payoff, and even gave us a little doubt in there wondering if the author had something entirely else planned for the rest of the series. But in the end, he knew we like this character too much to do him (and us) like that, so we got what we expected.

For the second climax, between Jake and orange dude, the author also delivered his longest battle of the series yet, fought within the shooting geysers of magma and world-shaking fissures of a planet about to be explode. As cool as all that was, it went on for eleven chapters, and I checked out after the first it’s-over-it’s-not-over twist, only skimming the the actual end as we all knew how it was gonna end. I’m torn on how I feel about this fight. For one, Jake (MC) should never have struggled with someone who isn’t a fighter first, as Jake is, but orange dude did fight very competently in Nevermore, so I guess it is logically consistent. For another, this genre has tropes, one of which is the good guys win, so the end was never in doubt. This is why I feel the best fights in this genre are concise.

Fights could be more concise without managing the skill sheet debt series like this have. Now, it’s much less in this series than others. Jake has a slightly more than reasonable amount of skills, unlike some with so many the author gives up tracking them (Path of Ascension). But even when your Mac has a little too many skills, authors feel they have to use them on the page, especially in a climatic battle like this one, so it runs super long so he can do so.

The rest of the book consists of Villy’s reaction to the battle, another Great Sage Experience, Villy’s reaction to the experience, search for a new bow (nothing great), and setup for the next story, taking on The Holy Church to reclaim orange dude’s soul and prevent them from using his bloodline in nefarious ways (taking people’s agency).

All in all mixed feelings. Ecstatic about finishing this overly drawn out plot that could have been told in one book by mixing the last one and this one, but annoyed by the fact it was in two books and the too long final fight. I look forward to the next arc, mainly because it’s not big enough to warrant multiple books. Right? God, I hope I’m right. I think the right narrative direction for series like this one, open-ended with high power ceilings and thus dozens of potential books, is in telling one-book stories on the way. I don’t think we need some overarching plot thread hanging over the series, at least until the endgame is in sight. It’s my hope this series follows that pattern, and thus its stability and worth in investing our time and money into.

Outstanding!@!

Bringing two long simmering conflicts between Chosen and their Patrons to a head in the same novel, while also delving fairly deep into the soul of our Hunter, Zogarth does not miss a beat. The “battle” between Yip and Villy is written so well that even though we all knew what the outcome would be many books ago, the lead in and actual battle were thoroughly exhilarating. He is the Malificient one after all so not much of a challenge from a “god” named Yip who actually turned into a tasty little snack for the Viper. It seems even dragons like to play with their food first…. As for El Hakken? A delusional madman hyped up on his own lies and “fake news” … which of us didn’t want to see that dirt bag obliterated? Well that would be the Holy Church where a small faction believes that resurrecting what Jake left of the poor bastard’s true soul, containing his bloodline, so that they can use the bloodline to turn their believers into fanatics? Yeah, no that’s definitely a ninja loot by the Church and the Primal Hunter WILL NOT stand by and allow that to happen to his kill! Cannot wait for Jake’s visit with his old boss Jacob - who is also up to something and seems to have him aligned with Jake regarding the destruction of El Hakkan’s bloodline - which Jacob is ordered to protect until the 93rd universe opens up to the rest of the multi verse. Oh and I’d bring up the really interesting “vision” involving the 1st Sage, you know the guy who took on a young talented viper as a disciple only to help him to reach the pinnacle as a Primordial? Yeah, sorry, that’s Forbidden Knowledge so you’ll have to read this novel if you want to learn the truth …

In which Jake becomes an actor...

As usual, Jake's Patron, The Malefic Viper, concocts an elaborate scheme. The biggest issue? Getting everyone else to believe Jake's has turned on him.
What follows is some pretty bad acting, followed by intense fighting, the murder of a planet (the actual rock in space, not the people), a cool stroll down memory lane (can't say who's memory, it's Forbidden Knowledge you know), and some hilariously awkward conversations Jake tries to have with some females of the species. Throw in some mind bending metaphysical System Fu@&ery and there you have it.

Honestly, there is so much to this book I could NOT read it in one sitting. I had to take breaks to let some of it settle in my brain before moving on. I love it! These kinds of books are rare, and few authors put so much into a single book. Thank you, Zogarth.

I rate this one 18 and up just for violence and the sheer scale of death and mayhem. Also, the promotional visit to a Vahal world had lots of drinking & fighting even though it was good-natured.
No typos, good editing, comprehensive storylines, excellent world-building, and realistically flawed main characters.

I can't rate this higher than 3/5. Not when the first half of your book is that bad.

Honestly, I can't stand the "It must be said, It must be stated, It's important to remember, etc." Every other paragraph, I'm told completely irrelevant stuff. When an author tries to justify something, it's honestly best not to tell the reader what's important. Show them.

Now let's get to the bad. Firstly, if Jake doesn't care about what's happening, neither do I. Don't just write monotonous stuff for the sake of it. It makes the reader want to skip pages. Jake doesn't want to be there, and neither do I.

The fight scenes seem to drag on way too long.

At the 50% mark of this book, I nearly put it down. I'd rate it 1/5... if that. Keep in mind, this book didn't appear to have an editor. I found many run-on sentences that took me out of the reading sometimes.

So how did this book end up being a 3/5?

The good news is, it does have redeeming qualities. The second half of the book was filled with mystery and intrigue. And Jake's meeting with the sage was so heartfelt and emotional! It brought out the very reason readers actually read books.

The last third of the book found what makes an author good. And if I deleted all the other chapters, I'd rate it 5/5.

Finally, book 14!
As usual it felt too short (which is rather amusing with LitRPG, I know - and no worries, amazon says it has 733 pages, so my too short is relative) and I already am looking forward to the next one again, which is a feat few other authors have managed to get me to. I'm fully engaged in the story, outraged on behalf of some characters, happy for others, and shaking my head at the escapades of a third group. Which means character building is definitely a prime skill of ths author, one he keeps showing off.

I finally got the grand conclusion of the storyline that was built up over the last few books, and it was a real nail-biter. I absolutely loved it, and loved mentally cheering for the crew. Lots of my favorite snake god in this book as well, which I appreciate very much.

The world and the whole system still feels incredibly believable, gets fleshed out more the further we get, and I will keep looking forward to a lot more books in this series! Thanks to the author for his incredible skill at writing these. I hope he won't ever get bored of them.

very verbose

Imagine the Primal Hunter pursuing an apex predator, planning for months, and training skills for this single foe. An enemy which this Hunter has a special loathing for, along with an extra special alertness when around. And at the peak of battle, when this enemy is on the ropes, this mighty hunter stops? For pity, mercy, science, curiosity, or laziness? Does it matter? His own bloodline should have stopped him from quitting and submitting to stupidity. Let’s put away our super effective bow that defines us and get close to the foe who has the advantage up close. At least his buddy the Viper wasn’t a pansy in his fight, fighting to the very end. We should have had a THUMP thumping when the mc bowed to his arch enemy early in the fight. Totally out of character but the books must keep multiplying and that fight scene just had to be extended well beyond what it should have.

Wow! Soooooooo! Epic! And cranked all the way to Eleven!

Wow! Soooooooo friggintastic! And as I had augured correctly the showdown between Jake and Ell'Hakan happened and it was a no-holds-barred fight cranked all the way to Eleven! However I had forgotten that Yip of Yore, Ell'Hakan Patron, needed to be dealt along with his allied gods. But that was Vilastromoz, the Malefic Viper, Jake's Patron's job. Of course with gods fightin you know it had to be epic! Up to and including a philosophical argument as the Malefic Viper defended his domain against Yip of Yore. And wow Jake's power-ups! Then getting the records! Just for fun I augur there's gonna be a lotta, lotta readin in Jake's future...
So yeah you'll absodamnlutely hafta snatch up this action-packed litRPG adventure.

Really good series and good book

I like the series, and this book was a good addition. My single gripe is that the author can tend to get a bit bogged down in details. For real LitRPG fans, I suppose that’s a good thing, but I’m in it mostly for the story. I’d prefer more character development and less about the magic, theory, and minute details of fights and spells. I also tend to prefer stories like this to move along a bit faster, but that’s just a personal preference. That said, it’s easy enough to skim those parts and keep the story moving on your own, so I wouldn’t put off reading the series/book over these gripes.

It's the day before Thanksgiving and I'm supposed to be preparing the food and cleaning the house but instead I'm glued to my phone because this book has hours of intense fight scenes that I can't put down. I can't figure out Villy's plan ahead of time. I want to believe he'll win the fight but I can't lie, I'm chewing my lip the whole time. Jake vs Ell’Hakan? I couldn't get enough. And just when he's gearing up to finally battle the church the book ends. I do have one question left unanswered, who picked up the child of desolation?

The Battles!

This series keeps getting better. The conclusion of the overarching rivalry was so well done even though it was obvious who would win. The fact that the author was able to make me genuinely dislike the antagonists, so I was happy to see them gone while also being happy to see where the story goes without them in it.
The MC’s progression is also so interesting. The growth is why I love this genre.

Best series in the genre!

Invested in the characters and the scope applied in the writing is fantastic, also my name is Jake so the character has a special place for me. Overall great writing and the series never dulls. Normally a series can stagnate at certain overall arcs in the storyline but each book builds on the overall scope and keeps each chapter sets interesting. Thanks for the series and can't wait for the next.!
