看前几回觉得好无聊，不过几个主要女角出场之后就稍微活泼起来，及至后面那些melodramatic的东西（误会、巧合、多角情感）出现就正式进入类型化，开始典型地“好看”了。虽然现在的眼光看来不甚新鲜，但是那个年代能把这些桥段铺排好同时又能拿捏一定的生活情致也是不错了，写景写细节挺有况味。不过人物方面真的要吐槽一下，如果说男主是个prototype张无忌，那何丽娜大概就是prototype任盈盈，都很扁平（不过书生男主大概带点自我投射还比较真实点），关秀姑是善柔吧所以最博得现在人的好感。续书的前半还不错，有点生命不息恋爱不止的意思，但写死凤喜又硬转家国大事就很强行……最后还是祖师奶奶点评得精准：不高不低。

A very typical melodramatic book. Good thing is the writing, it is very well balanced in terms of plots and prospects. Passages about city views and life details are vivid and clean. But most of the characters are rather flat. First half of the sequel is nice, but the second half is changes too abruptly into this revolutionary model play which the writer is not good at.

I gather some immediate reflections on A Fate of Tears and Laughter (Tixiao Yinyuan 啼笑因緣) on my blog (~1300 words, plus images of original cover art and screenshots from a 1960s film adaptation). A highly recommended work!

想来很久没在豆瓣标记书籍了（四个月吧），虽然有几个长篇在看，不管怎么说，看书还是少了。电影倒是看得多了。最近没有紧要的事，看看书也好吧。说是没有紧要的事，本来今天（清明节第一天假期）想多看看论文，结果“一鼓作气”把这本书剩下的都看完了。密斯脱樊与三位奇女子的故事确实令人啼笑因缘。我在想，倘把自己代入到密斯脱樊身上，会更喜欢谁呢？大概是密斯何吧。有机会再看看张恨水的其他作品。
