Dennis "Denny" O'Neil
was a comic book writer and editor best known for his work for Marvel Comics and DC Comics from the 1960s through the 1990s, and Group Editor for the Batman family of titles until his retirement.
His best-known works include Green Lantern/Green Arrow and Batman with Neal Adams, The Shadow with Michael Kaluta and The Question with Denys Cowan. As an editor, he is principally known for editing the various Batman titles. From 2013 unti his death, he sat on the board of directors of the charity The Hero Initiative and served on its Disbursement Committee.

Hmmm.... I understand its place in history buuuuut that was underwhelming. Time has not been kind to the Jokers' Five-Way Revenge. The intro on the opening page as Joker returns to a rain-soaked Gotham and then the final fight at the aquarium (Batman the Animated Series recreated it!) probably make this worth reading and the story itself is pretty solid. However, should you give this a shot, be ready for some painful Batman dialogue.

Don’t you see the joke?
This issue took me back to the mid-early 1990s when I'd watch Batman: The Animated Series every weekday afternoon. Not to mention, the climax was the same as the episode The Laughing Fish.
The Joker is a real mystery man, since he leaves clues wherever he goes.

A classic, well-executed story.

To say this is a great story isn't completely accurate. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved it, but it has not aged well. Batman just knows everything. No clues for the reader, just Batman showing up and already knowing the bad guy. But it is filled with great lines like "Tower of firey rage."

Old campy style.
Great story from the past. Loved it. It reminds me of the old TV series. I never paid more than 12 cents for a comic but it was worth the dollar to get this on my tablet.

It definitely upgraded Joker from being just a joking clown to a more savage and psychotic villain- but the dialogue in this comic is beyond corny and not very good. Batman also doesn’t feel like himself at all in this- it’s still an important comic- but I’d say it hasn’t aged very well. 3/5 stars.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the way my Kindle app allows movement of the comic panels. Definitely a plus! The story was a fun one too.

"I may be insane, but I am not crazy!"
Such a fun read! Definitely one of my favorite Batman comics. Although I thought the ending was rather cheesy (at first), it made for a witty remark from Batman. Then after giving it some thought, I was alright with it ☺️
