Rollback

The Mirage

Rate this book
Mike Mansfield and his invisibles are back, trying to help a grieving family make sense of a terrible tragedy. But to their surprise, nothing about the event seems to make any sense, except that someone is trying to stop them at all costs, beginning with Mansfield.

As they gradually begin piecing the puzzle together, Mansfield and his team realize the original explanation of what took place is nothing of the sort. That the explanation was never meant to be anything but a mirage, and that Mike Mansfield is the last person they want involved, because people don't know what Mansfield is capable of... until it's too late.

Only one regret….

This series is fantastic. My only regret with this series is that the author can’t write fast enough to keep up with my reading speed. I work full time and have a family to take care of so it did take me two weeks to get through the first two books of the series. For the author to beat my speed he would have to be using AI, so I will happily wait until May for book three to be actually created by him. Great concepts and great characters. I highly recommend this series!

Life is to be lived and learned from

Time is a precious and ever-changing resource that continues to move forward, often without our conscious awareness. In the midst of our busy lives, it is crucial to pause and cherish the moments we have with our loved ones. Family represents a fundamental source of support, joy, and connection that can provide comfort and meaning to our existence. As life's unpredictable nature unfolds, we are reminded that opportunities to create lasting memories and strengthen relationships may not always be available. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize quality time with family, expressing love, sharing experiences, and building meaningful connections before circumstances potentially prevent us from doing so. The fleeting nature of time serves as a poignant reminder to appreciate and nurture our relationships, understanding that each moment spent together is a valuable and irreplaceable gift.

In this book, a rich billionaire has invented a computer program that captures all of the digital pictures from cell phones, traffic cameras, doorbell cameras, etc. and uses them to track crimes (usually involving human trafficking) by sequencing their past data. Then a team of retirees tracks down the bad guys, makes sure they get what is coming to them while recovering the people that had been taken. The characters aren't terribly deep but the story is engaging and much of the technology doesn't seem all that far-fetched.
I liked the book, as I did the previous book in this series, and look forward to next one.

Maybe

Michael C. Grumley has an obvious hope for the use of technology to benefit mankind. I also hope somewhere, someone(s) are using AI to find those involved in human trafficking and ending the terror of those that traffic children. "The Mirage" kept my interest. Fast paced. Those characters who are amongst the "Invisibles" are characters to emphasize with, especially Mike Mansfield. I really like this new series from MCG. I am devour "The Circle" when it downloads to the Kndle app. Thanks, Michael for the new series. NEXT!!!

Gripping page turner.

Couldn't put it down.
The characters are fully fleshed, interesting and believable
The sci-fi concept is scary, as it is so close to possibility.
The foreign conspiracy is in fact a reality.
I have read all his books and would recommend this series.
Can't wait for book three.

A great series

Another great series from Mr. Grumley. His characters are amazing. His storyline always interesting and there's always an amazing piece of Technology to tickle your sci-fi funny bone. As I've said before, my only complaint is that the books have endings. Id prefer to just keep reading.

A GREAT SERIES

The Breakthrough Series was great and I've just finished book 2 of the Rollback Series. Books one and 2 were great. The characters were interesting and the plot tight, filled with suspense and like the other books by this author, a does of technology. I got book 2 of this series on the day it was released and now I'll wait for book 3.

I’m an invisible

It was so great to read a story that included my age group and told the world that aging doesn’t mean you’re ready to be put out to pasture. The characters were whip smart and had a while ahead of them before they needed to sit on the porch. Can’t wait for the new one. Please continue with the series. There’s a need for this area.

Great series!

Can’t wait for book 3 - some of these are hard to read just due to the subject, but the justice is gratifying! Definitely recommend this series and all of Grumley’s books actually!

Amazing plot line!

Mansfield is up against an unknown enemy. Always looking out for the under dog, he cleans up a few messes along the way.
As the puzzle pieces begin to come together, a vast criminal network is exposed.

This was hard to put down!

The Mirage

Not my usual genre, but I am always entertained by Mans field's dedication to his calling. Unfortunately, I now have to wait until next March to finish the series, which is the reason for one less star than it deserves. Keep 'em coming, Mr. Grumley!

Our 'heroes' are monsters. They do not grow in their inner lives throughout. "The justice system is broken" means " We are judge jury and executioners". Vengeance replaces justice. Plus, AI being used to monitor everyone at will is praised? No.
