Outsiders: A Christian YA Dystopian Novel

Rate this book
★★★★★ “From beginning to end, I felt like I was right there with Robin, rooting for her to make it through. I highly recommend C. L. Richardson's Outsiders to readers who enjoy faith-based young adult novels that blend action and adventure into the story.” — Readers’ Favorite

She was loyal to the system. Then it left her for dead.

In a future where faith is outlawed and obedience is everything, 18-year-old Robin Winters once enforced the rules without question. But when one mistake turns her into an enemy of the state, everything she’s ever known is torn away. Banished from the city she once called home, she ends up in a remote town that doesn’t exist on any map, home to the very people she was trained to hunt… and slowly, unexpectedly, begins to trust them.

But peace is short-lived. As tensions rise, Robin finds herself in the crosshairs of a violent manipulator and a powerful regime bent on crushing dissent. With her new friends in danger and no easy way out, she must decide where her loyalty lies, and how far she’s willing to go to protect those she once would have condemned.

Told in parallel between Robin’s brutal present imprisonment and her dangerous past exile, Outsiders reveals the choices that shape her fate. First in a two-part series.

I couldn’t put this down. The world is so different, kinda scary but really interesting with all the weird rules and technology. I really felt for robin especially when everyones against her and she keeps fighting anyway.
I liked the group she finds outside the city, their friendship felt real and the parts with them hanging by the lake or just getting through days was nice. Some of it was pretty sad, like being banished or the stuff she faces in prison, but the book has a lot of hope too. Makes you think about freedom and who decides what’s right. It’s got action but also crazy good characters and some funny parts mixed in with the heavy. and book 2 is also amazing
