Winifred didn't fit in with her family, she didn't look like her five sisters. She was tall where they were short, she had light hair and dark eyes, while they had dark hair and blue eyes. At eighteen she was sent to live with her Aunt and freed from the life her mother tried to force on her. What she found in the next few years explained many things. Now she blossomed into the beautiful self confident young woman she was always destined to be.
I have read most of Ms Kuhnke’s books and while they are short reads they are simple and usually can be read in 1 or 2 days. There is a bit of a repetition in the story lines usually involving a young woman mistreated by or orphaned by parents but finding love in other family members. The young woman usually has exceptional house keeping skills, horsemanship or sheep/goat husbandry. She does not want to marry and most of the time does not trust men and when she does fall in love she often jumps to conclusions all too quickly. All of the stories suffer from poor editing. I know that programs are used these days but human eyes are needed to know that you “peel” potatoes not “peal” potatoes and one would peal out of a driveway not peel out. There are many grammatical errors as well. It becomes distracting. I did enjoy the Christian approach but when the couples were “courting” there was a lot of “eyebrow wiggling” which I think would have been inappropriate for those times. All in all I still enjoyed the quick reads and could read other longer books and jump back to light reading every so often.
I am going to spend the summer with my Aunt Aggie, my mom says she is poor so they would send some money for her aunt because she would be there….my is about to change!
