Budapest is Burning

Rate this book
Never let your guard down. That's the most enduring lesson in the life of Nathan Grant.

It's been years since Nathan Grant had the courage to truly open his heart, but Hungarian artist Judit Szabó has cracked the code. After meeting in Rome, their first weekend together in her native Budapest opens with a promising start. Nathan has learned, though, nothing good ever seems to come easily for him. A killer is on the loose, and Judit is a target. Are these attacks merely random, or is there method in the madness? The local police are either too incompetent or too corrupt to solve the case, which leaves it all to Nathan. Someone has to bring the killer to justice, one way or another.

Passes Time

Author Rosenberg has a nice writing style, mixing dialogue and descriptions in a way that’s very easy to read. In this sixth book in the Nathan Grant series, Rosenberg doesn’t make his hero appear very capable, perhaps on purpose. The result is a novel that has trouble holding your attention.

“Please, sir, I want some more!”

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Nathan Grant series and am very sorry to see it end…for now at least. Every book gives you wonderful insight into the country in which it takes place, and Budapest is Burning is no exception. One is given a taste of its culture and politics as Nathan endeavors to find who is responsible for a series of fires that at first appear random. But when someone close to Nathan becomes a victim, he sets out to discover the reason behind the arsons and uncovers corruption, medical malfeasance, child trafficking, etc. and finds himself in more scrapes than even his former employers are willing to help him out of. But does it come to a satisfactory conclusion? You’ll have to buy the book to find out.

Nathan Grant novels always provide action and intrigue and this latest book does not disappoint. Budapest and the seedy side of its politics provide a nuanced backdrop for this thriller. Grant relies on both the training and instincts from his past to uncover secrets and surprise heros along the way.

Goodness versus Evil

Kenneth Rosenberg’s latest Nathan Grant thriller kept me enthralled! I’ve read all of his series and will be eagerly awaiting #7. His stories are so good, I like to slow down and not finish them too quickly. Highly recommend and can be read alone but going through all the Nathan Grant’s in order would be best.

This latest book in the series differed so much in just about everything that I have to wonder if it was written by the same author…

Nathan Grant is he of the best heroes of the novel nature. He strives to find justice for those that the authorities have given up on. Excellent read.
