True Immortality #4

Bitten by Destiny

Rate this book
English rockstar Elijah Webb is more than meets the eye. Being different might have made his childhood hell, but as an adult it’s opened doors to fame and fortune … and the supernatural underworld. Now that he knows all about the creatures that go bump in the night, Elijah’s pretty sure he’s a warlock. Powerful than most, but a warlock, nonetheless.
What else could he be, right?

Vampire Echo Payne is more than happy to infiltrate Elijah’s life to uncover whether the rockstar is one of the seven fae-borne prophesied to open the gate to Faerie. Having encountered one of his kind before, she knows he’s fae as soon as they meet. Her adoptive father, William, might want her to kill Elijah, but Echo has other plans now that she knows William is the monster who destroyed her family. She plans to end William Payne’s reign of terror and save her sister from the same fate she herself endured. But Echo needs Elijah’s help. Who cares about the blazing attraction that flares between them? Not Echo. She needs his fae gifts, not his addictive kisses.

When Elijah discovers Echo’s deception and the truth about what he is, he wants nothing but to protect his human parents. To do that, he has to trust the sexy vampire he can’t help but wish wanted him as much as she wanted revenge. Together they will travel across continents to help the other protect those they hold dearest and in doing so discover how deeply entwined their destinies really are…

For a peaceful future together might just be in the cards if Echo can let go of the past. But to win it, they will have to join forces with the other fae and their mates. It will take all of them to bring down their enemies. And if they fail, no one can save the human world from the darkness of Faerie.

It's happening!! I honestly cannot believe this! I was scrolling through my Kindle recommendations when this book popped up. I was like.... what? Is this real?

Sooo, upon checking the author's social media and here, I realized it's actually happening!! Well, supposedly. After a few dates being set and nada, I can't say I'm 100% confident, or that my excitement is the same. Buuuuut I'm still happy to get a conclusion for the series!

I don't care about what I said before, I've waited toooooo long not to read this book. F this, take my money, and gimmeee! I'm a hypocrite, what can I say.

To whoever is interested, you can preorder it now!

Good thing I gave up waiting for this book to come out! lol Someone liked this review today and decided to check and.... surprise surprise, I mean, actually it's no surprise at all this book is STILL not out.
-------------------
December 1st, 2023

Yeah guys, it doesn't seem like we'll have this book in our hands this year after all. I'm ngl, this is incredibly frustrating...

I've been so excited about this book and, as you can see, I've been checking constantly for any progress for a long time. I even reread the whole series this year anticipating the release of this one, as was announced. However, it doesn't seem this book will see the light of day any time soon.

I have to say, in any sphere of my life, I dislike it when people don't do as they say they would, it's so frustrating. That's not to say I can't be understanding, I can. But after 3 years and building our expectations, and just... nada? No.

So if this book doesn't come out this year, I have to say, I won't be checking for it anymore. So this will probably be my last update (unless some time from now I stumble upon this book and decide I want to give it a go).

Not the final update I wanted to give, but it is what it is.

----------------------
September 8th, 2023

There has been an update on her website. Now it says:

"I'm currently working on Bitten by Destiny as a side project, which means progress is slower. Therefore, it will be released without preorder. I'll update readers as soon as it's available."

Does this mean we might not get it this year after all? Idk, let's hope we still get it by NYE #fingerscrossed

March 10th, 2022

I wanna read this book so baaad!! I've LOVED all books in this series!

On her website, all it says is:
''New blurb coming soon. Bitten by Deception will have a surprise release by the end of 2023.''

I'm READYYY!! Please don't play with my heart, Samantha Young!

Elijah Webb is a rock star from England that's become famous with his band the Strix. He was raised by amazing parents, but always knew he was different. He has unique gifts he's kept hidden, and suspects he's a warlock, but isn't very familiar with the supernatural world. Then he meets a beautiful, mysterious woman while on tour that turns his life upside down. She challenges everything he believes to be true, and makes him want things he didn't know were possible.

Echo Payne is a vampire who grew up in a dark, violent world as the daughter of a man who was the head of a supernatural crime organization. She's just existing since she learned the man she thought of as a father was actually a monster who had betrayed her. Everything she'd ever been told was a lie. All that mattered now was protecting her little sister, and that meant she'd need help from someone powerful. She seeks out Elijah, one of the seven fae-borne, and is determined to convince him to join her mission to take down the man who stole everything from her.

Elijah wants to protect his family from this new dangerous world he's encountered, so he decides to work with Echo to take down their shared enemy. As he embraces his abilities and immortality, he discovers all he is meant to be. He also develops an all consuming attraction to Echo. They share a deep connection neither can deny, and soon he feels as though there is an invisible thread between them. He finally has someone he wants to belong to, and is willing to fight for her.

The future is uncertain, but lately Echo wonders if maybe she wasn't destined to be alone after all. She hasn't been happy in six years, but Elijah reminds her there are still good people in the world. Will the underworld be too much to conquer, or will true love win in the end?

Bitten by Destiny (True Immortality #4) by S. Young is the final book in the True Immortality series. It's a slow burn, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, found family, paranormal, fantasy romance about supernaturals, immortals, fated mates, revenge, redemption, survival, trust and self discovery. This was an intense, original story full of emotion, electric chemistry, sizzling desire, danger and magic. I really loved this entire series, and this world. I was so happy to get more of all the couples. This book was the perfect conclusion to an amazing series! <333

Bitten by Destiny was a great conclusion to the series. I liked Echo and Elijah's characters, and their relationship was both passionate and tender. The writing was great, there was a lot going on, but all the plot points were woven together in a seamless way. Overall, I never expected to enjoy True Immortality as much as I did. There were ups and downs as I didn't love every book, but given the lore, the well-developed characters, the heartfelt (and steamy) romances, and the riveting action, this series is a hidden gem in the paranormal genre!

I have to say, this might be the perfect way to round out the series. It can’t come without pain, loss, grief, or mourning. But it also can’t happen without the hope, love, learning, and family that make it work. Between everyone coming together in ways even I didn’t quite expect and the family by choice that is now so tightly woven together, this was a ride that I both wanted to finish and wanted to slow down so I didn’t have to say “well, that’s really the end, isn’t it” about this group.

Echo is far from what you’d expect. She’s torn, miserably so, and knows that she’s not meant for anything good. But when your mate is the one person you truly shouldn’t have, it’s sort of tough to stick with the fears of being only a monster or being undeserving of anything good in life. She and Elijah take us on a journey that has more than a few bumps but also just as many surprises, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

All in all, this is an excellent read. It’s a bit bittersweet, a lot hopeful, and shows us that no matter what you are, something good can be your future.

I have been waiting for the conclusion to the True Immortality series by S. Young and it was 100% worth it! Bitten by Destiny is Echo and Elijah’s story. Echo is a vampire who misses being alive, and Elijah is an English rockstar who has no idea what’s going on in the supernatural world. These two are forced together when Echo is sent to find out if Elijah is one of the seven fae children. There is so much going on in this book as Echo and Elijah run from those who are trying to open the gate all while trying to accomplish their own goals. I feel like their romance sneaks up on them a bit being that they are so focused on other things, but their story was perfect and I love them together! If you haven’t picked up this series, now is the perfect time!

RATING: 4 HEARTS!

Bitten by Destiny is the long-awaited, epic conclusion to the True Immortality series, giving us an action-packed plot, toe-curling romance, and camaraderie between characters old and new more than worthy of a final instalment.

"I think you might be the most beautiful woman I've ever disliked."

Ms. Young does a beautiful job linking all the various pieces together leading to the final showdown that impresses and dazzles with its beautiful strength. In between action sequences, we get moments of vulnerability from Echo and Elijah and a romance both passionate and tender, giving us butterflies before we’re plunged once again into danger.

The highlight of this story is Ms. Young’s spellbinding writing in creating characters that are vital to the story in their own right so that none feel as though they are secondary. Questions are answered, loyalties are tested, and love is both lost and gained, leaving us emotionally wrung out but ultimately extremely satisfied with our final moments in this high-octane and stunningly hopeful world.

Bitten By Destiny was incredible and the perfect way to end this series!!! Elijah is a rockstar and thinks he a warlock. Echo has learned her father, the leader of the Garm, is a monster and is determined to save her sister and get revenge. When Echo is sent to find out if Elijah is a fae-borne she sees this as the perfect chance to get his help in exchange for helping keep his parents safe.

I loved Elijah and Echo so much!! Echo is ruthless and acts cold but she’s actually compassionate and has a very sweet side. Elijah is the sunshine to Echo’s grumpiness, has a cocky rockstar persona but is actually down to earth, and definitely has a protective side. I adore how these two grew closer and that Elijah got Echo to let him in. They have amazing chemistry and tension, and I think they were magnificent together!

The final battle delivered too! We got a decent amount of time with the previous couples, which I adored of course. I loved how everything and everyone came together. I did cry at one point but I was also swooning and laughing throughout the book.

I do wish it was longer just because I wanted more of Echo and Elijah but it was amazing and it really was the perfect ending to the fae- born stories!! If you haven’t started this series I highly recommend picking it up!

4 stars. I feel like this book was such a satisfying end to the series. I've read the previous books in this series when they were released, so it's been a while since I was back in this world. But honestly, it did not take much for me to be completely absorbed in everything. Sam did a really great job of reminding us what happened previously, without hitting us over the head with it. That said, you do 100% have to read the previous books before reading this one-- Bitten by Destiny is not a standalone. As many of you know, I'm a sucker for shifter romances. And although Bitten by Destiny featured vampire/ fae romance, I still really enjoyed it. Both Elijah and Echo were really compelling characters that had complicated histories (especially Echo and her family dynamics). Something that I really loved about this book was that Sam gave us a really great couple to root for, but a big chunk of the book (including the epilogue) also included the previous couples. So we got to spend a lot of time with the characters we loved. All in all, as I stated above, I thought this was a really great way to end this series. I've always loved Sam's PNR, and I hope this means that maybe she'll have some more PNR series for us in the future.

Thank you so much to Valentine PR and Samantha for the ARC!

I think i have the syndrome of "i waited that long for this ... ?" Don't get me wrong i enjoyed reading about Elijah and Echo and i loooved reading about all of them getting together but honestly i finished with a bittersweet taste in my mouth because the ending was a bit too full of sadness. Even the epilogue didn't help that much ... I wish there was a bit more honestly, even an opening 'even if it will never happen to have a following)
Overall it was good but not enough, it deserved a bit more. Those characters deserved a bit more ^^
As usual though i always love reading a SY book.

It’s been a long time coming, but the fourth and final book in the True Immortality series is absolutely worth the wait! An exciting and action-packed paranormal romance, this is a fantastic enemies-to-lovers, fated romance with a gorgeous love story, and it’s a fantastic finish for the series.

I wouldn’t recommend reading this book as a standalone, but there is enough background given where you could follow the story without having read the previous books. It’s very useful for those of us who had forgotten some of the details leading into this one, however there is a lot of character crossover, and you will definitely understand and appreciate it more if you’ve the earlier books – which are all fantastic reads, so don’t miss out on those!

Echo is a vampire who has recently learned that her adoptive father is an evil monster and her whole life is a life. When he tasks her to track down and kill one of only seven powerful fae who has the power to open the gate to faerie, she realises that this could be her opportunity to get herself and her younger human sister away out of his clutches once and for all.

Rockstar Elijah has lived his life with special powers. He has learned about the secretive supernatural world and figures he’s a warlock, but when Echo crashes into his life declaring him one of the fae and insisting that his life is in danger, his whole world is upended. She offers safety for himself and his family in return for his help protecting her sister, and so the two team up on a globe-crossing, action-packed adventure, to help their families and bring down her father, all the while avoiding their many enemies.

It's not the easiest situation, but despite their difficulties, neither can deny their mad attraction, and the chemistry and sexual tension is SO good! Luckily there’s lots of forced proximity so they have time to talk and get to know each other, they get deep and open up about their pasts and their vulnerabilities, and they throw themselves into exploring their wild passion for each other, quickly realising that there’s so much more to each other than they initially thought, and they fall hard and fast.

“You are not a monster. You are not just a vampire. You are a woman. My woman. I think I claimed you from the moment we locked eyes in that bar. And I think you claimed me right back.”

This is such a great read and I love these characters! I love that Elijah is a rockstar, even if it’s not a pivotal part of the story, it definitely brings an extra edge, and though we see him embracing all that comes with the rocker lifestyle, he’s a total golden retriever – sweet, sexy and protective, and I just adored him. And Echo is fabulously complex. She’s dealing with a lot, and a relationship was never in her plan, and even in the midst of all of the chaos, there’s an emotional element to this one as they come to terms with their immortality, their connections to both the human and supernatural world, and what a future might look like.

The characters from the previous books show up right when things really get intense, bringing some much needed support, and Elijah’s fae siblings and their mates all join forces to help Elijah and Echo on their mission to take down the bad guys and ensure all of their safety once and for all in an epic battle to save the world.

Full of all of the excitement, drama, action, and supernatural badassery that I have come to expect from this series, I devoured this book and read it in a day. I couldn’t put it down and loved losing myself in this world and the heartfelt journey of the characters. There’s an epilogue which gives closure for all four couples of the series, and I finished this book feeling so satisfied with how it all ended.

Such a great read – 5 stars!

ARC Review

4,5⭐️

“For the first time in her life, Echo had a real home. The eternity she’d been so afraid of no longer terrified her.” (BBD)

✧ Key aspects: 3rd person POV, grumpy&sunshine, mated vampire and fae, supernatural universe in a contemporary setting, anti-hero FMC, golden retriever MMC, enemies to lovers, found family
✧ Rating: 𝟒,𝟓 ☆/ 𝟓

First of all, I want to thank @authorsamanthayoung and @valentine_pr_ for the opportunity of reading this book in advance. It was truly an honour to receive an ARC from one my favourite contemporary romance authors.

― It’s been some time since I’ve read a fantasy book set in a contemporary setting, but this one did not disappoint. What I appreciated the most about the plot was that the love interest didn’t feel rushed at all! I don’t know if the intention of the author was to create a slow-burn, but the effect was amazing! Everything falls into place at the right time.
― The plot is intricated, but the author always gives you some insights into the previous books if you haven’t read the series, so it wasn’t hard at all to get into the universe.
― Samantha Young does not disappoint when it comes to the power of the community! The subplot of the found family brought me to tears at times, seeing how the characters from the previous novels were ready to sacrifice their futures in order to help the others!
― Also, the setting being in the Highlands? Who writes about Scottish heroes better than Samantha Young?! I love the fact that she gives us the readers a realistic insight into Scottish language and dialect. Swooning!
― If you like vampire romance, intricate plots, reversed grumpy&sunshine, found family, supernatural beings into a contemporary setting and Scottish heroes, then put your hands on this book as soon as it is released!

Samantha Young brings us the dramatic conclusion of the True Immortality series. Here we meet vampire Echo who has a plan but needs rockstar Elijah to carry it out. Unfortunately, Elijah is unwilling to help or believe anything she says. All he knows is the strong attraction he feels towards her. When the threat to destroy everything they hold dear is about to come to a head, will they be able to set aside their differences and join forces with others?

Samantha Young brings us not only the story of Echo and Elijah and all that stands between them, but also those who came previously before them. Readers do not need to have read the previous books in this series, but it will make you want to read their stories and learn more about them. Seeing the other characters make an appearance is always nice in a series where it is more like visiting old friends and catching up with them. Discover what has been going on since last we saw them and how they come together in this final chapter in this series. See how Echo helps Elijah realize who he really is and in turn shows Echo who she has been hiding and what is truly important to them both and what they will do in order to achieve it. See how they all are connected and how that connection either helps them forge the future they all want or if there is too must distrust among them to be able to work together.

I have received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank Samantha Young and Valentine PR & Literary Management for this privilege.

this book is the very definition of an epic finale 🙂‍↕️

From the very moment this book was announced I have been counting down the days until I can read it and my expectations were beyond high because I have full trust in the author and I can honestly say that the story has exceeded every expectations I had.

the world building in this series is done sooo well that you start to feel like this is real and not fantasy you start to want the fea born are among us, and this book gave a stunning completion to the True Immortality series.

I love Echo and Elijah so much! From their very first meeting to the epilogue (which deserves a review of its own btw) every single scene where they're together or apart they are this couple youu cannot stop rooting for.

Echo is such a beautiful complicated character. And I just wanted her to fully and completely love herself and see how good she is! She's another Samantha Young kick-ass female character.

Elijah had me swooning from the very first page, he's definitely one of my top favourite mmc of this series! I love his character soo much!! The way he went along with accepting what he is and what he needs to do and his willingness to stand for what is right no matter what had me falling more in love with him.

Them as a couple is a real perfect coupling 🙌🏽

The way the series wrapped up has been well planned and some scenes at the end were such unexpected and had me mind blown. Seeing the characters from the series all come together and see the bonds they've formed had me soo emotional while reading about them. This is surely my favourite fantasy series.

For me, getting an ARC for this book before its release has made my entire summer, if not my entire year. I've been waiting for the book for YEARS and I am so happy about every single thing in it.

thank you soo much VPR for accepting my request!

This is such a great book, and I will definitely be reading the others in the series. Despite this being the 4th book, you don't have to read the previous books prior to reading this. It was so easy to just completely fall into the story. I think it helps that this fantasy is based in a contemporary setting. It's also one of the first fantasy books based in a contemporary setting I've read, which felt effortless.

The story follows Echo (vampire) and Elijah (fae) as they help stop the gates from being opened and destroying the world as everyone knows it. Elijah, who is a rockstar, doesn't believe a word Echo initially says. All he knows is that he has this strong attraction to her that he can't explain. Their banter is great, and the chemistry is sizzling. Both Echo and Elijah help each other see who they are more clearly, and that just brings them that much closer.

If you like found family, vampires and fae, fated mates, magic, and so much more, then I definitely recommend this one.

A huge thank you to Samantha Young and Valentine PR for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

I’m loving the supernatural team that is True Immortality, and this story, the final one in the series (sadly), sees rockstar Elijah Webb discovering (thanks to vampire Echo Payne), that he is in fact an immortal fae, and not the warlock he suspected he was. Echo tries to warn Elijah that his life is in danger, he only thinks she’s a crazed fan, until the dark side actually shows itself. With nothing left to do but go on the run with Echo, Elijah helps her in her mission to save those that they love and end evil. Along the way we get to see more action and adventure from all the previous immortal fae and their mates as they try to bring down the strongest fae of all, as well as covens of witches and warlocks and blood thirsty vampires, all out to open the gates to faerie, and end the world as we know it. I was hooked from start to finish. Addictive, sexy and one of my favourite reads this year. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

ARC Review of ‘Bite of Destiny’ by S.Young

This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I have to say it was good!
It is part of a series, so characters from previous books will come in play also, but I was glad that the main story was a standalone: It didn’t make me feel I missed too many clues or innuendos from the previous books. Means those books did not have loose ends! And that is exciting! Cause now I want to read the other ones too🥰

Echo is a vampire told to kill Elijah, but she has other plans ever since she found out the truth about her monstrous adoptive father and her real family.
So she asks Elijah for help instead. Echo is a bada$$! On the outside. Inside she yearns for normalcy. I liked her character. No nonsense.
Elijah is a rockstar warlock/fae with powers hidden deep within him. Delicious, sensitive, great 🌶️ attraction. I really could imagine him.
Their chemistry together with some banter was very nice!🌶️ chemistry was yummy 🤤. All of them well written.
The storyline flowed smooth and didn’t have any boring episodes in between. So that was awesome!

Well deserved 5/5⭐️ Would definitely read more of her books🥰

This was a fantastic wrap up to this series and well worth the wait!

I would definitely recommend reading the entire series, as there is an overarching plot through all the books. I will say, the author did a great job at giving the readers little reminders throughout!

I really appreciated the extended epilogue, with views of each of the four couples. This series has been very unique, and each of the romances have had amazing chemistry.

This book definitely had a bit of an enemies to lovers feel at the start, but these two could not fight fate or the chemistry they had for each other. This was paced pretty well, considering how the story needed to be wrapped up, and it was done well. You might need some tissues for this book!

this story was a long time coming, but it was well worth the wait.

echo & elijah’s story was everything i could’ve ever dreamed it to be! while i think i would’ve better enjoyed this story having reread the prior 3 books, it only took a few chapters to jog my memory and feel fully immersed in it. i really, really liked echo and elijah. more than i expected to, if i’m being honest, but samantha is such a talented author, i’m not at all surprised.

echo was so endearing, and i loved her dynamic with elijah. this was a wonderful but bittersweet conclusion to such an epic series!

•My Thoughts•
I can’t believe this series has reached its conclusion!! The True Immortality series was one of my first by this author and I have truly loved it. This started off really strong but I felt like Elijah and Echo’s story was a bit rushed, especially their romance. I really enjoyed their “she’s the grump to his sunshine” dynamic and the fae rockstar vibe was so unique but I felt I didn’t get enough time with them! Elijah and Echo were such interesting characters and I felt like they became side characters in the second half! The last part of the book gave a lot of page time to other couples from earlier in the series and while it was great to see them, it took away time from our main couple. Something else kept me from really connecting at some really emotional moments (maybe the pacing? maybe the switch in POV?) and it kept pulling me out of the story because I knew I should have been more moved. Regardless, I did love the overall plot line that has been building through all the books concluded. I loved Elijah’s family and his ability to love Echo for who she was, prickly exterior and all. The epilogue drop in to each of the couples and their different happily ever afters was also a lot of fun. Still recommend this series for all paranormal romance lovers!

Thank you to Samantha Young for the early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I absolutely love this book! It just really sucks you in from the beginning and keep your interest to the very end. I am very happy. She finished this series. I’ve been waiting on this book. Elijah and Echo had an instant connection, that she tried to fight. But they were perfect for each other this book has everything romance suspense, and keeping you guessing. It was nice seeing the prior couples and this book as well. I highly recommend it.

Quickie review: 3.5 stars. This was a good ending to this fun paranormal series. This book was pretty good, if not my favorite in the series. Echo was a little too prickly for my liking, but was an okay heroine. Elijah was sweet. The book was a bit long, but had a good story and chemistry.

This was a super sweet and emotional love story. This was the perfect ending for this series. I enjoyed the epilogue and how the author finalized everything for us in this world.

A great series finale. Echo and Elijah chemistry is on fire in this enemies to lovers fantasy storyline. A must read to see how everyone comes together to save the world.
