Suspenseful, emotional, and full of heart, this final installment of the Heaven’s Gate series delivers a gripping blend of danger, romance, and the realization that trust and love often require a leap of faith. Can they make it together?
I live in the Midwest and I love cats, reading, scrapbooking, and swimming. I also love to write romance with humor, a little discipline, and other fun and interesting stuff! I love the alpha male hero, it's always present in my books, and strong feisty heroines who inevitably get themselves into hot water with their man. I am now retired and plan on getting many more wonderful stories out for you to read. I can be found in all sorts of places. Check out my link tree for my newsletter to get a free book, and follow me on Book-bub for updates on new releases as they come out. Much love and appreciation to my readers, Brandy Golden
The story is a contemporary power exchange romance that takes place in Boston, Massachusetts, following Ainsley's visit to her family at Christmas in book four, Christmas Secrets. This is the fifth book in the Heaven’s Gate series, but it could be read as a standalone. The story will contain many characters from previous stories, but this one will mainly focus on Ainsley MacCandish and Dallas ‘Dal’ MacIntosh.
Darro and Lucerne are returning to Scotland after a visit for Ainsley’s graduation. Not long after they leave, with her in her new apartment and preparing to begin her job with the local medical examiner’s office, strange incidents begin to happen. Threatening messages, a dead cat, and the need to add security cameras start to take a toll on her. It was difficult to hide her pregnancy from her family, from her one time with Dal. Now, these threats don’t only affect her, but also her baby.
Dal has never told Ainsley how he feels about her—partially because she has made the erroneous claims that he is a player. When Lucerne makes a comment about her concerns about Ainsley, and that she thinks she was hiding a pregnancy, it makes him decide to go to Boston and discover the truth for himself.
The story is a mystery, suspenseful with life and death danger, threats, and a man who isn’t willing to walk away from his woman and baby. Dal proves to her that he doesn’t care about other women, but telling Ainsley about his feelings isn’t easy either. He is a man of action, proving he is there for her and willing to protect her at all costs.
The haunting words from Ainsley's short-term stepmother have held her back from believing in love and trusting men. “True love is rare, and lust is a love thief in disguise. Getting trapped in it is a death knell.” Has this blinded her to the truth? From seeing that Dal’s intention towards her is genuine and true?
The story will involve a detective who has a security company installing cameras and is then hired by Dal to try and discover who the culprits are and why. The game of cat and mouse is eventually revealed, but the damage has been done. With the presence of Darro during a heated protest regarding non-American workers, Ainsley learns that Boston isn’t a place she wants to remain, and the Highlands and Heaven’s Gates are calling her home. Dal is the real deal and her future.
Dal: It smells of dreams waiting to be lived. Ainsley: What a beautiful thing to say, Dal. I didn’t know ye had a poetic bent. Dal: Ye have a way of bringing out the thoughts of my soul, honey.
This book by Ms. Golden packed a punch, and once it had its claws in me, I was hooked. I enjoy her smooth and relaxed writing style, and her characters are relatable and inviting—well, most of them. It was easy to immerse myself in the storyline and try to solve who was behind the danger towards Ainsley and why. I loved the plot twist and the feeling of being one step away from falling over the edge. I felt Ainsley's confusion and Dal’s anger, but they could have saved themselves so much pain if they had had one honest conversation. Alone, pregnant, and living in Boston, Ainsley was in danger from an unknown stalker who was escalating. Dal arrived in Boston on a hunch that something was amiss with Ainsley never expecting what he found.
One night of passion between Dal and Ainsley left her with a permanent gift that would change her life. Ainsley returned to Boston determined to make it on her own. She was convinced that Dal was a player. Once Dal found out that Ainsley was having his baby, he set out to convince her that he was in for the long haul. Ainsley frustrated me, and I felt like shaking her sometimes, but it was not all her fault. Dal, like most men, was reluctant to talk about his feelings.
This contemporary romance can be read as a stand-alone, but reading the previous books in this series gives you a clearer picture of the secondary characters. This was such an entertaining, effortless read with a happy ending
Ainsley + Dal = HEA ! Return to Neamh is a standalone AND yet my enjoyment of the story was enhanced by the revisiting of other couples in the McCandlish family. Ainsley & Dal have basically grown up together, and he is adrift when she goes away to school. Ainsley is in love; but she doesn’t trust her heart to Dal because of his reputation as a player. One tryst in the hayloft, over Christmas break, and pregnancy changes everything. Don’t miss this story. It has danger, intrigue, spice, spanking, and an unplanned pregnancy. Pick up the complete series and meet the entire family as each couple achieves their HEA.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "RETURN TO NEAMH" This was one of my first reads by this author I enjoyed the journey Ainsley & Dal take you on. Ainsley & Dal have known one another for awhile she went away to school leaving him floundering, she has feelings for him but not sure she can give him her love. Theres some danger, intrigue, steam, an unexpected outcome of them acting on their feelings. Will Ainsley get her HEA with Dal its a must read to see how it all turns out you won't be disappointed.
This is a very well written book with all the romance, some drama and of course a happy ever after. Ainsley and Dallas have a complicated relationship especially when Ainsley moves to America. When she gets dumped by her boyfriend and goes home to Scotland for the holidays things get even more complicated. She keeping a big secret from everyone. On top of all that there's the stalker. You've gotta read this great book to find out more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
