What did I just read??? My heart is still racing! I absolutely love all the twists, turns, swerving, zigzags, and backflips throughout this book. I need the second book - like immediately! And such great characters! Bravo to T.L. Hill on this amazing book! Seriously - so well written and thought out. Just how??? That ending though! Oh my gosh! I gave this book a full 5 stars. I was fortunate enough to be an ARC reader and I feel so honored! I absolutely never expected how much I would love this book! Tabitha - I hope you are a fast writer for book #2!!! I hope you are very proud of yourself - how is your debut novel THIS good??? You go girl! I would be honored to be an ARC reader for all of your books in the future!!!
My heads been in Lala land reading romance book after romance book so I needed something to cleanse my reading palette. I came across this book and was lucky enough to get an ARC copy.
I enjoy thriller and mystery so I was super keen to get started. Note I really love the cover and the author acknowledgement’s were heartwarming.
Now let’s get down to business - what drew me to this book was the blurb. The story follows a newly promoted detective named Rosa Ryker. Her first case is to help uncover the infamous Wood Riddle Killer. Who is he? What do the riddles he leaves behind mean? Why has nobody been able to find him after all these years?
Author T.L Hill takes us on a journey and brings the reader along to every crime scene - the suspense is second to none and the plot twists are enough to make your jaw drop. I loooved the POV changes between each character esp when it was the accomplisist of the Wood Riddle Killer. And is it crazy to say I love Simon too! He’s rough around the edges but it’s within reason.
Overall I really enjoyed this thriller- it was engaging and left me wanting more. I can’t wait for the next book… SIGN ME UP 😮💨
1st ARC read, best ARC read? T.L. Hill has set the bar for any future ARCs I read! Her debut book is full of suspense, hooking me from the beginning trying to figure out “whodunnit”! The details made me feel like I was standing alongside the characters in each scene. Character & plot development was executed well. The ending?!? Ugh! Can’t wait for the next books in this series!
This book was so suspenseful, I was on edge the whole time. The plot pulled me in, but it was the characters that truly stole my heart. I loved them all, but Rosa? She was so relatable. Dark, twisty, and addictive. I couldn’t stop reading. 🖤✨
A poetic and emotionally charged debut that blends crime, grief, and introspection.
Tangled Splinters follows a newly formed task force as they investigate the cryptic and ritualistic killings of the elusive Wood Riddle Killer. Set in a small town haunted by trauma and secrets, this is a slow-burning psychological procedural with a strong focus on team dynamics, emotional baggage, and the weight of the past.
I smiled every time Sir Louis was mentioned — if I ever have a cat again, I think I’ll name him that, hopefully the author approves.
This story is written in third-person point of view, with named chapters and a clear, polished writing style. The tone is layered and emotive — often poetic and rich in metaphor. The prose invites the reader into an emotional space rather than focusing solely on plot, which gives it a unique literary flair.
The book leans heavily into its characters and their emotional bonds. It’s introspective, atmospheric, and often moody — more of a character-driven mystery than a fast-paced thriller. It unfolds slowly, and while the riddles from the killer are clever and haunting, I personally found the pacing difficult. At times, I felt overwhelmed by everything happening at once or confused about certain developments. Some emotional states and conversations also felt repetitive.
The investigation is layered with interpersonal tension, trauma recovery, and internal conflict. Rosa is a complex, emotionally intuitive new detective haunted by her past. She is the lead detective, and probably the clumsiest character I’ve ever met, lol. Simon, with the FBI, has his own emotional wounds and a cold, guarded demeanor. While the story hints at romantic potential between them in future books, I personally didn’t connect with Simon and found his temperament off-putting. He has quite a few red flags. I appreciated the friendship between Rosa and Raya — it added warmth and depth. Rosa’s father, Mr. Ryker, felt genuine and protective, and I’m especially curious to see what happens next with him and Rosa.
That said, I didn’t fully connect with the characters, and that made it harder for me to stay immersed. I struggled with the pacing and found myself losing focus, unsure at times whether it was the book or external distractions.
The mystery remained strong throughout the book. Although I had my suspicions early on — and they turned out to be correct — the reveal still surprised me. I didn’t expect to be right. I’m curious to see if the next books will delve into the killer’s thoughts and motivations. I need answers.
This reads more like a psychological procedural than a thriller, and readers going in with that expectation may have a smoother experience. It’s for those who enjoy emotional depth, slow-burn suspense, and character-driven mysteries.
I admire the ambition behind this debut. It’s clear a lot of work went into crafting this world and these characters. I’m always grateful to be an early reader. I’ll be interested to see how this series and the author’s voice evolve.
Thank you to T.L. Hill for the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.
Well well well …… didn’t see that coming! The story had me guessing at every turn. The character development and thought was awesome. This is a great background to book #2 because i just wanna know…
Wow! What a debut book! Bravo Tabitha, Bravo! The plot was intricate and intriguing. The characters are likable and the storyline hooked me early and kept me captivated all the way to the last page. I devoured this book in 2 days! I loved the interactions between the characters. IMO, it was an awesome read!! The ending was a total shock and knowing this has a 2nd book to follow leaves me hungry for the answers to some unanswered questions! I highly recommend this book and hope I dont have to wait too long for the next book in this series.
All I have to say is. . .WHAT THE FLIP JUST HAPPENED??? It’s okay, I’m okay. . .(I am not okay) But let’s get into it! For starters, I am an absolute lover of all genres and will read just about anything. With that being said, I’ll preface by stating that I do not take reviews lightly. Just because I enjoy a book, doesn’t mean I will leave a review unless I absolutely love it. So by seeing this here, you can guess how much I enjoyed it. The story picks up with rookie detective Rosa setting off in a new adventure after being newly promoted. This promotion comes with its own obstacles not only from her colleagues, but herself when she finds herself in a unique position that allows her insight into an ongoing case that has been haunting small towns and neighboring cities with a series of unalivings that have been placed almost too strategically. Not only that, but each new crime scene follows an ongoing pattern leaving behind only one reoccurring clue. A cryptic message left in the form of a riddle. As the story progresses we get an insight into each of the characters and a hint of their backstory as well as an array of intricate details connecting to the next series of events. Not only was the story engaging and intriguing, but it was filled with light humor, memorable characters, tender moments as well as well balanced action sequences. But we got an ending that not only made my jaw drop, but I was ready to throw the book and scream because I wanted more. I wanted more of Rosa, more of the Riddler (not the actual name but that’s what I like to call them) I wanted more from the rest of this unlikely group of strangers in their 30s who don’t have a clue whats going on half the time. I cannot express how grateful I am to have been given the opportunity to receive this as an Arc, but I am truly in love with this book and after that ending, Tabitha, please be prepared for me to never leave you alone because this was truly such a fun read for me and I cannot wait to read more.
I was so excited to read this debut novel from this author. Especially after a bit of a fantasy kick lately, getting into a crime novel with such a great story line was super fun. I really appreciated that the book immediately jumped into action, hooked me as a reader from the beginning, and kept me on the line through the whole book. There are many twists and turns, and very few chapters without action or excitement. I loved the character development and detailed emphasis on each character and what brought them to this place. I love books that follow multiple people’s perspectives, which this book does well. Also, let’s talk about the way the book is so detailed that it gives that eerie, suspenseful vibe that made me look over my shoulder while I was reading in the dark, late at night, alone. I loved little details that seemed so representative and personal to the author like Sir Louie, the cat, and the main character’s love for reading. I was realizing this morning after finishing the book last night that I’m disappointed I finished it, and disappointed the next book isn’t out yet because I’m fully hooked into their life, like a reality tv show that I don’t ever want to end, I don’t want to lose my connection to the characters and I feel personally invested in the storyline. I absolutely will be returning for the rest of the series as soon as it’s out, count me in for the next book (and make it quick because I’m hooked and NEED to know what happens next).
This was a brand new author for me and I was really excited to see that it was also the very first book in a new series - The Motivated Antics series.
This cover instantly grabbed my attention as it looked dark and mysterious and I just knew this would be a read that was made for me!
As you know, I never read blurbs, but I could tell this fel within my favourite genre and when I spotted that tag, I couldn't wait to dive in!
This was a brilliant start to the series as we come in fresh with our main characters Rosa and Simon - who are also meeting for the first time.
Starting to work together to solve the case that's plagued Simon for years, meant that we got to know each of them as they got to know each other and this worked perfectly to introduce them as characters and tfornus to get to know their backstories, along with learning the backstory to the case too.
This was a complex case that had piled up a good number of bodies, leaving behind cryptic clues that had evaded other detectives to far.
Rosa was really trying to prove herself within this new unit but could she solve the clues before more bodies appeared.
I loves this storyline and the way the detectives went about working through all the clues left behind.
I tried to come up with my own theories too along the way, but as ever, I was kept guessing throughout.
This was really well written and I was hooked from the start and engaged right through to the end as the tension really built up and had me racing through to find out how this would end.
Obviously, some things have been left open ended and this has me already craving the release of book 2 to see where this series will take us a next!?
I gave this a 4.25 Great story for the genre, which is known to have so many overlaps. If you are a fan of the writing style of M.W Craven and Sam Holland, then I think that you will fully enjoy this book. I liked how the reader was involved with the story by trying to solve the riddles. I found myself pausing and trying to work them out in real time. The pacing was good also. Sometimes, thriller books can drone on. The format was consistent, the dialogue believable and the overall story compelling.
I really enjoyed reading this novel. Thank you for allowing me to have an ARC copy.
I hope to read more from this author in the future
Whenever anyone says that in a book, I know immediately that there is nothing to relax about and the worst is going to happen.
Rosa is starting her first day as a detective and is immediately thrown into helping the FBI catch a serial killer that’s been operating for thirty years. Between the riddles the serial killer leaves, to the drug operation, and the small town gossiping like crazy, it’s getting too much especially when bodies start appearing quicker than they’ve ever done before.
This is a debut novel by @t.l.hillauthor and the first in a series. It definitely doesn’t read like a debut novel. The chapters are quite short and I feel like this makes a book so much better. The author gets to the point quickly but also you always think “just one more chapter” and before you know it, you’ve read another 50 pages.
I adore Rosa, she’s clumsy but smart. Honestly it feels like me. I even empathise with her about starting a job that she’s worried others think “she’s stolen from them”. She doesn’t believe in herself and it’s such a shame. She’s such a strong character and I think Simon, William and Kershaw from the FBI would have struggled without her.
It feels like you are being thrown into different directions as the misdirection and red herrings get floated about. And it does feel like a lot is happening in such a small town, but everything does come together almost nicely. The people that are accused of doing different things within the book, I did have suspicions on. At one point in my notes, I wrote “I really hope it’s not this person”
I say it’s almost tied up nicely because there are a few things we don’t get to the bottom of, the main one being: what actually happened to her mother? We’re never explicitly told who the serial killer is, but it is heavily implied. I’m glad this is a series and I hope this is continued in the next book, which I will be searching for and adding to my preorders as soon as it’s released.
First off, I just want to take a moment to celebrate my amazing friend and her journey to this moment. I’m so proud of what she’s done and it was an honor seeing her along this journey, and helping any way that I could!
Second, yall! This book is so good! I’m not normally a crime/thriller reader, but I took the opportunity to read this and I throughly enjoyed it! It’s definitely made me want to read more in the crime/thriller universe.
I think that T.L. Hill has crafted a wonderful debut novel full of secrets, twists, and shocking moments. For me, the story flowed well and was set at a great pace - not too fast yet not too slow either. I find the characters well thought out and fitting for the story/case that they are wrapped in. I would have to say one of my favorite aspects of this debut novel is T.L. Hill’s capacity to create such vivid imagery with her detailed choice of words - I felt as though I was able to recreate each scene within my mind with ease, and that is so so important for me as a reader.
I loved the use of riddles throughout the storyline - I would quite literally stop and try to see if I could solve them myself before continuing on with the read! I think the use of riddles makes the novel interactive for readers, much like it did myself, and I think that adds a uniqueness to it as a whole. I’m also a huge fan of the subtleties throughout this story… (you have to read to know what I mean by these hehe). I felt like my own detective trying to piece everything together!
Overall, what a great read and I am so excited to see how the rest of this story unfolds through the series (because excuse me THAT cliff hanger?!). We are just getting a taste of everything within this first novel and I am a firm believer in that T.L. Hill has so much more in store for us. 🖤
Cliffhangers are amazing. Cliffhangers are the bane of every reader's existence. When they're put to such deliciously devious use like they are in this book, you can't help but admire the sheer craftsmanship. However, now we have to wait on tenterhooks until T.L. Hill releases the next book to find out what happens, which is exactly what her delightful, masterful mind wanted. Hats off to you. I need this next book in my life, and I cannot wait to get it!
Do you need more? Maybe not, but you're gonna get it. Every chapter was filled with tension you could cut with a knife. We start with an already well-developed serial mystery, dropped into a small town onto the lap of a rookie cop. But she's got mad riddle skills, and that's what we need to solve this case. She's also just got something about her that makes our main, stand-off detective lose his cool - in the good AND bad way. Because sometimes there is a fine line between love and hate. Did I mention the tension, because if you're into that - whew, boy, it's there in absolute spades!! Is it hot in here?!
Rosa and Simon couldn't be worse for each other if they tried. Also, they couldn't be more perfect for each other if they tried. And, while this isn't a cozy - it's way too dark for that - since it features a small town, there was my beloved string of small town characters, including a "Boo Radley" type who let Rosa show off just how amazing she really was.
I really appreciated the old folks gathered at the Waffle House to gossip. If it's not there, it's some ol' coffee shop. If you're not Southern, you might not know, but this had a very Southern character to it. And as a fellow Southern writer, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
As a debut novel, Tangled Splinters is a good, albeit slow-burning mystery. The plot and premise are well thought out, but the character buildup took away the tension it would've otherwise evoked. I was privileged to receive this ARC from BookSprout, and have waited a long time to read it, and came out with a mixed bag of experiences.
The writing style is descriptive and detailed. While it lays bare the aspect of beautiful prose, it has the gloss of a screenplay—detailed and meticulous down to the character's gait, gaze, and facial expressions. I personally felt that it was overkill at times and impeded the story's progress.
Also, the author apparently loves the idea of people sneaking up on each other or the opposite angle, when someone scares the crap out of another who is unaware of their presence. This is a good scare tactic and works great in movies, but it gets old fast in a novel.
Having said that with total honesty, I still feel this is a great book for lovers of mystery and gore, and thank T.L. Hill and Tabitha Hill Books for allowing me to read this page-turner. If the author is reading this, I want you to remember that I was only the second person to request the book, and you sent me a sweet message of gratitude. I wanted to reply to your message on BookSprout and give you my best wishes for the book's success. However, there was a message at the bottom that said that I could not reply to you until you activated their plan or something. It's always thrilling to receive a personal message from an author, so this will always be a special book to me :)
Plot: Rosa Ryker has just been promoted to detective in the small town of Chattingsburg when the Wood Riddle killer strikes again. He has avoided capture for 30 years, leaving behind a riddle at each crime scene. FBI Special Agent Simon Pikes has been after this guy, haunted by his past failures and determined to capture him. Rosa’s ability to solve riddles brings her into the picture along with her friend Raya and 2 other agents. Can they find the killer before he strikes again?
My thoughts: I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading until I found out who the killer was. I had my suspicions early on and for once I was right, although I kept changing my mind. The book is a thriller, but it has the flair of a Sherlock Holmes mystery. Rosa is a strong, formidable detective who was a worthy match for Simon, who could be a jerk sometimes. I loved trying to solve the riddles along with Rosa. There were some shocking, unexpected deaths and twists I couldn’t see coming. I’m not crazy about the open ending, but it’s part of a series. I already can’t wait to read the next book to hopefully get some closure. Well done for a debut book!
What to Expect: —riddles —serial killer —shocking twists —dark secrets —multiple povs
Not my usual genre, but I tore through Tangled Splinters. For a debut, it’s impressively confident—a character-driven psychological procedural/serial-killer hunt with multi-POV, brisk, propulsive chapters, clever, creepy breadcrumb clues, and a twisty finale that genuinely blindsides. If you enjoy Karin Slaughter or Jeffery Deaver—especially The Bone Collector—this scratches that itch while still feeling fresh.
I really liked the multi-POV approach (it adds tension without feeling gimmicky) and the task-force dynamic: Rosa is easy to root for, Simon is prickly but compelling, and the team banter gives the investigation heart. Little touches (hello, Sir Louie) made the world feel lived-in.
Tone-wise, this reads like a psychological procedural with thriller spikes—fast and twisty, but also a bit moody and atmospheric. My only small wish: an extra beat or two of emotional aftershock in a couple of big moments. Otherwise, it’s a well-crafted start to a series.
Bottom line: a confident, twist-happy debut with momentum and a cast I want to follow. As an author myself, hats off to T.L. Hill for a great debut!
I was lucky to beta reader this book and I'm happy to give my honest review.
This book grabs you from the very outset. It's fast paced and action packed. A team assembled to track down the killer, one who had been out there for years taunting law enforcement with the riddles left on each body. The team characters develop as you read and you get more of their backgrounds and drives with all their strengths and flaws.
The Team dynamics were a great mix of serious, all-consuming drive to succeed alongside the much needed comic relief and the sweet and endearing, brave and brainy that the others brought to the table.
There are twists and turns that you aren't going to see coming and the unsettling atmosphere is felt throughout the book with murders and drugs lurking within a small unsuspecting town where everyone knows everyone. It helped to keep me guessing who should be under suspicion at different points and kept me turning the pages wanting more.
The riddles were clever and thought provoking, and they felt like a great way to involve the reader within the story.
It’s hard to believe that this is a debut novel and the first in The Motivated Antics series. It’s a gripping and atmospheric thriller that pulls you into a chilling cat-and-mouse game from the very first page. The premise—a cryptic serial killer leaving puzzle-like crime scenes—delivers on both tension and intrigue. The Wood Riddle Killer is a fascinating, sinister creation, and the riddles scattered throughout the book add an extra layer of depth and suspense.
Detective Rosa Ryker is a strong, compelling protagonist—determined, sharp, and refreshingly human in her vulnerabilities. Her dynamic with the brooding, world-weary FBI agent Simon Pikes adds emotional weight to the story. Their uneasy partnership and contrasting approaches to justice create some of the novel’s most engaging moments.
The pacing is mostly excellent, with short, punchy chapters and well-timed twists that keep you hooked. A few sections slow down in the middle as the investigation becomes more complex, but the tension always simmers beneath the surface. By the time the final reveal arrives, the payoff feels both satisfying and suitably haunting.
This is book one in the motivated antics series and follows new detective Rosa Ryker, who finds herself working with FBI special agent Simon Pikes and his team on the wood riddle killer case, a serial killer who has left a trail of death and destruction spanning several decades.
This is a psychological thriller and we have twists and turns, secrets, lies and betrayals of epic proportions. This is an emotional rollercoaster ride where nothing is as it seems, and with each clue comes more questions and the team are unsure who they can trust.
This book certainly keeps you on your toes and on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed the writing style and the plot was fab too. The character development was great, and the plot twists didn’t allow you to catch your breath at all. It is fast paced without feeling rushed. And oh my God, that ending! Talk about cliffhanger, there was no hanging to be found, it was more like bass jumping off the cliff! I will definitely be reading the other books in this series. This was a strong four-star read for me and I would definitely recommend.
I love a thriller, and I’ve devoured countless novels in this genre over the years. I haven’t come across one like Tangled Splinters before though. Rosa Ryker is keen to prove herself as a new detective and teams up with some highly experienced in the field. The seriousness of their jobs and the crimes they were investigating seemed to be juxtaposed with playful, almost sorority / fraternity behaviour at times.
The story is action-packed and fast-paced. I found myself confused at times about who was involved as there were quite a lot of secondary characters, but a quick referral back to earlier chapters every now and then put me back on track.
The ending was tense and while some elements of the plot were wrapped up, others have been left for future books in the series.
I’m rating this ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 and I think this would be an excellent read for those dipping their toes into the thriller genre, particularly if they don’t usually read novels with darker content; the author lightens the crime scenes and past trauma with light-hearted discussions and scenes to break it up.
WOW, this one had me hooked from the start! And I binge read this in a day.
This book follows Rosa, a newly promoted detective as she teams up with Simon, an FBI agent and his team to track down a serial killer who has been evading capture for 30 years.
This is the first book in a series and the authors debut. There are so many twists in this. It was totally gripping and had me on the edge of my seat so many times. The tension and suspense in this was on point!
I absolutely loved Rosa. As a naturally clumsy person myself, she was totally relatable 😂 and her friendship with Raya was adorable. I loved that she was the one picking up on the killers clues and helping the investigation move forward.
This ended on a shocker that will have you second guessing where this series is going next. And I so can't wait for book two.
Thanks to Love Book Tours for my gifted book and tour spot. All thoughts are my own.
I was definitely completely absorbed in the tense drama that unfolded in this book. The blurb gives you an exciting and very interesting look at what is to come, buy it still will not really get you prepared for just what will unfold and the twists of the book. I really liked the character building in this one. Simon was hard not to feel for with his belief that he had muddled life up in generL. Rosa was your typical hard working person. Who just wants to ensure that everything is perfect and that they succeed. The case is one that packs a punch, as so much has been lost to it and the puzzles really give it that extra creepy factor of it being like someone being played with. I thought the book had a good pace to it and the bread rumbs is hat were given really made you feel part of the puzzle, but left enough unspoken that there were surprises. A good read.
Wow wow and wow. What have I just read. Fantastic the twists the turns the suspense keep me guessing all the way through. I really need book two so I can continue the journey with the amazing characters I’ve got to know through the book. An extremely well written book a well deserved 5 stars. I feel extremely honoured to have been an ARC reader for this book. Bravo T.L. Hill fantastic. Please tell me book 2 isn’t too far away and I would love to be considered to be an ARC reader for your future books. But before I forget Sir Louie made me smile with his whole persona that came through with your writing.
Want a book that reminds you of Nancy drew but the adult version this is your book.
This mystery is about a detective Ross Ryker who has just started her career being a detective. She’s quickly roped into an investigation that will leave anyone unsettled, where bodies are turning up left and right, and they feel farther and farther away from the case. Will they catch the killer?
This book really caught me off guard because I didn’t see the ending coming! I love a book that can sweep me off my feet. I loved the fact this book felt so cozy. I loved the characters I connected very well with them the book felt almost like a warm hug of action and mystery! And now I’m stuck waiting for the next book to come out haha
T.L. Hill comes out of the gate swinging with this debut novel. It's fast-paced without missing out on all those juicy details. Kept me engaged and flipping pages. I read it in two sittings, and I already can't wait to get my hands on the next one.
I enjoyed the different characters, and I thought they developed well throughout the story. Enough that I cared what happened to most of them. Of course, no one cares about the corrupt SOBs. That ending, though, the cliffhanger. No spoilers here, but I'll admit it was a hell of a ride, and I for sure was cackling at the end because I had a feeling, and I felt so damn vindicated.
I started the book first thing this morning and finished it few hours ago! 👩🏼🏫 This books follows Rosa Ryker, who had been promoted to detective recently. 🙌🏼 Rosa got roped into working with a FBI special agent, Simon and his team, investigating the serial killer who was behind the murders over the decade. 😵 Would they catch the killer?! 🤔 This book is full of suspense and got me hooked on “who dunnit”….📖👀 Annnnd it caught me off guard as I never saw the ending coming?! 🤯
I’ve fully enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for next book to come out! 📕
I would like to say thank you to Tabitha and Love Books Tour for letting me involved in this tour. ♥️
Although, I personally paid for the book out of my pocket when I preordered ages ago as I would like to support Tabitha by buying her book! 🥰
As this is T L Hill’s debut as a published author, I had no expectation as to where my reading experience would take me, but my goodness did it prove to be rewarding.
What an absorbing thriller. Tangled Splinters has everything - gripping plot line, fully captivating, full of cat and mouse intrigue, complex and troubled lead characters and what an ending. One I truly never saw coming.
So very well written - couldn’t put it down!
Tangled Splinters is a must for anyone who just loves to be entertained by an author who evidently has what it takes to become a great in the very competitive psychological genre. I for one will definitely hope this is the start of more to come.
Tangled Splinters by T. L. Hill. Motivated Antics Book 1. This was a really good read. I listened to this book. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. That's why I signed up for this tour. I liked the writing style and the story I did like Rosa straight away. I liked Raya too. Chadford I didn'tlike from the start. I didn't trust him. Simon, and Heyshaw, and William grew on me. This book was different. I loved the cryptic messages left behind. There was action from the start. I loved the short chapters. Gripping and twisty. I certainly didn't see that coming. Ends on a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next book. I most definitely recommend this book.
Rosa is new to her job as detective and her first case turns out to be a big one. She’s trying to prove she deserves to be a detective rather than a patrol cop so she has to put her best foot forward. Dead bodies appear with cryptic puzzles written in what appears to be blood on a piece of wood. Thinking they have a serial killer on their hands, the detectives want to solve these crimes quickly.
I’m glad this is the first in a series because I want to see where Rosa goes. She’s smart but has a lot to learn. If you love a police procedural, this is the book for you!
