Right ... first of all this book has been wrote by someone who lives the life style
that part of the book was brilliant !
But Robin & Roberts story which lead to the disappointment with me it just seemed to drift & skip a month hear or there ! it never seemed to expand much when I thought there good of been a good dark twist but nope !. the ending was sort of a disappointment for me.

but that been said I did enjoy it just frustrated in places (hope that makes sense) xx

I saw a FB friend commenting on this while she was reading it and it piqued my interest. First, let me say that I have never read a romance book by a male author. Not that there aren't good ones out there, I just have always gravitated toward the female authors because they just seem to "get" female emotions. However, I will say that Southwick pleasantly surprised me with the depth of emotion and connection that he crafted between the characters. Although the story was highly erotic in nature, the relationship between the characters was not at all lost because of the eroticism of the story. From the very beginning you felt a connection between Robin and Robert. They were older and more settled in their lives. He is a fifty year bachelor while she is a 45 year old, mother of two, divorcee. Their age and their life experiences draw them to one another. Robert doesn't want a "twinkie" submissive (as he calls them) and Robin doesn't want a dom who is the age of her son -- which leaves them at an impasse until they find each other in the BDSM club one night. The attraction between them sparks instantly and Robert stakes his claim on Robin almost immediately. Although the claim is immediate, Robert takes time to get to know Robin and what makes her tick. He cherishes Robin and makes her feel beautiful, something she never felt from her husband of twenty years. Robert takes the time to coax reactions from Robin's body that she has never experienced and he totally wins her heart in the process. But all is not quiet for Robin, even though she doesn't know it. There is a third party voice in the story, simply called "Other" who is stalking Robin. He watches her as she comes and goes and is even tracking her cyber activity. He has nothing but ill intentions toward her and you don't find out the "why" of his actions until the end. Although I enjoyed the bit of suspense with the inclusion of the "other" I would have enjoyed a stronger conclusion to that plot line in the story. The resolution with that party fell a little flat and felt a bit anti-climatic. However, that one minor detail did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. I think Southwick did an exception job crafting an erotic but very sweet story.

If you liked Cherise Sinclair's Master Z, then you will most certainly love Robert, too.

I absolutely LOVED this book.
The characters felt so REAL to me. They're older and easy to relate to, stretch marks and all! I loved the emotional depth. It was an interesting premise that I related to in interesting ways. I loved that the typical themes and character types were avoided. The characters were NOT young, skinny Barbie dolls. They were actual human shapes with flaws who were self-conscious and unsure of themselves.
The sex was incredibly hot with kink-but not to the extent that might be a turn off for somebody who isn't into that sort of thing.

This book was a journey of self-discovery and an incredibly sweet love story. It's the new-found love of a couple who never thought they'd find their HEA. It was beautiful, IMHO.
I strongly recommend this book for open minded adults.

Happily Surprised

I have to say that this author really knows his stuff. This is not just a romance novel. It's a look into the life of a couple finding themselves. I look forward to his next book.

I'm not a fan of erotic books written by men but I read that this author is a friend of Nikki Sex, an erotic author whose books I have enjoyed. The author is also a real life Dom.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the way it is written. There is far too much inner dialogue of which Robin the heroine's is annoying. She is always thinking 'jeez' and 'wow'. It made her sound like a teenager rather than a grown woman in her 40's.

Because of the lack of dialogue, it is hard to believe in their 'love story'. Robin is far too trusting of Robert within a few days of knowing him and goes back to his home where he introduces her to the Dom/Sub relationship. The author likes to explain away the lifestyle but it ends up reading like a 'self help' book rather than a novel. The sex scenes were distinctly lacking. He should take a tip from Nikki Sex on how to write a good erotic sex scene.

The timeline is odd. One minute they've only been seeing each other for a week, they go out to dinner then next minute she's saying they've been seeing each other for two months. All the 'getting to know each other' parts are the author 'telling us' and not 'showing us' so it's hard to feel any connection to the characters. Robin's grown children are hardly mentioned then appear later in the story and the dialogue and actions were really rather ridiculous. This I think is where the author being a male let him down. As for the ridiculous side story of someone watching Robin...I just never saw the point of it. It went nowhere and culminated in the very last chapter of the book being told from a bouncer at the club's pov who finds the 'stalker' and it's all 'tell not show' when we hear who he is and what he was doing and going to do to Robin. It was just laughable and I'm surprised the Editor didn't advise in taking out this plotline.

The story in my opinion was over long and the 'love story' aspect was lacking. I downloaded this as a freebie. I think I'll stick to Nikki Sex stories.

One of the things which appealed to me about this book was the age of the characters, it makes a nice change to read about an older couple finding love and satisfaction.
Robin may be forty-five but life is just opening up for her, after a bad marriage to husband who's cheated on her and then left her, she's lacking in confidence but determined to fulfil her fantasies and desires.
Robert is a fifty year old bachelor, he never planned to be single at this age he always thought he'd be married but it just hasn't worked out for him and while he loves his lifestyle he's getting sick of the young skinny girls throwing themselves at him.
The scene is set for Robin and Robert (I wish their names hadn't been so similar) to meet and see where this takes them.
It's an enjoyable little read although while being very nice neither the characters nor the story really grabbed me but it is a standalone although I did wonder towards the end if it was going to finish or be continued.

This book was a total surprise for me. It was so much more than I expected. I loved it.

There are so many things I loved about this story. The characters are portrayed as real with real flaws. Robin is a 45 year old divorcee. Robert is an older Dom. I just loved that these characters were older than what I normally read about. After her divorce Robin decides to explore BDSM where she meets Master Robert.
I would have liked more about the stalker but my view on that took away nothing from my love of this book.

Have I said how much I love this book?? One of my naughty pleasures is to get lost into a really good well written story. This story captivated me and left me hoping this author is busy writing more. If you like bdsm stories with the real factor then I certainly recommend this story. Loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lawrence captivated the raw emotions associated with divorce and the loss of self esteem brought about by a long loveless marriage. It is very evident that Lawrence is in the lifestyle himself and I found that very refreshing. The scenes were very erotic and I loved all the emotion that was expressed throughout. That first kiss scenes between Robin and Robert brought back all those butterfly feelings of first love.

Robin has been divorced for a number of years and Robert has been alone for a very long time as well. Their attraction to each other is immediate when they lock eyes at the local BDSM Club. Master Robert weeds through all of Robin's walls and brings out erotic feelings that she has never felt in her life. Naturally submitting to Master Robert was easy for Robin and she soon finds herself happy.

I love how real these characters are with all their stretch marks and pasts. This story captured me from the very beginning and didn't let go until I finished. I wanted to see more from the mysterious man that was following Robin, but overall it didn't deter from how I felt about this book. I am looking forward to seeing more from this amazing author!

I was interested because of the age of the progagonists and the fact that it was erotica by a male author, which I don't find that much of (at least not that I know of). Sadly, this was terrible. There were some almost-good moments (there were opportunities for gentle humor that could have elevated the whole thing) and the BDSM stuff was well explained, but the characters never felt real except Lewis the bouncer. The writing had no flow and the emotional beats were often undercut by being buried in over-analysis and man-splaining everything to the reader. I was also super uncomfortable about the scene where a "mean girl" gets beaten. It's supposed to be cathartic for the heroine and she has this revelation that these men love her because they're willing to beat another woman for her. Er, what? When the point is not connection or sexual gratification, it's just abuse. I also didn't like the part where he pushed her to her limits without explaining it or what he was doing. WTF? Maybe the fact that he kept breaking his subs with this method should have told him that this method sucks. You don't tell someone with a sub personality "I control everything" and then beat them until they realize they can break the rules (and clearly some of them don't). Ugh. No.

I REALLY wanted to love this book because of the premise but this one just wasn't a good read for me. Robin has a LOT of inner dialogue and for me that is a turn off. The basic story is solid however the way it was told didn't really unfold and flow well. Robert is an older Dom who wants to find a long term sub who has had some life experience and that is refreshing. There is even the added mystery of Robin's stalker with the introduction of the "Other" which was supposed to add an element of danger and suspense. The idea of a woman in her 40's finally getting in touch with what SHE wants sexually after a long marriage of sexual repression and raising children appealed to me so I went in rooting for this book. However by the end the story still hadn't really grabbed me so I am forced to admit that I was a bit disappointed.

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

Honest with Kink

This book is quite honest is down to earth and something that you could relate to. She's a woman who has been through divorce, and appreciation in life from her past husbands. She's been taken for granted. Truthfully, this book captured what Robin and her Master are going through. It's nothing as bad as the 50SOG, it contains material where an older woman who is trying to find her sexuality, finds passion and love once more. This man will teach her all about appreciation and much more. He's the guy who will be right for her. Teach her. And most of all love her. But some dangers from a stalker may cause Robin much harm. Will Robert or Robin be in time to watch for the danger? Read on to find out.

The premise was good, but the execution left much to be desired. The points of view hopped from her head to his and back, and then there's the mysterious "other". I didn't like how the male MC just swept in and started telling her what to do. I didn't really like any of the MCs, tbh. This was not for me, but ymmv.

ETA: the misogynistic slurs and "real women have curves" are also not my thing. You can like fat or older women without putting younger skinny women down. And I say this as a fat woman in my forties.

Run From The Day to a Strange 🌙Night of Stone

Robin👗 is a lost woman, divorced, in her 40s , kind of frumpy, feeling fat, depressed about her future. Probably pre menopause. She talks to no one, no one talks to her. She moves invisibly through her days and nights. DANG!

What a depressing empty life she is living now. Not that her married life was any better, but she did raise a family, even though it appears she never really loved her husband and he was just A User, anyway. As soon as the kids are gone, he dumps her for a younger woman. GAD! This just gets worse as it goes along!
Finally she's had enough and decides to try to find a little happiness somewhere. She wants to explore some alternative life styles, mainly bdsm before time runs out. Sex🍌🌋 with the ex was pretty much a dud, unfulfilling at best. She always wanted more! There has to be MORE, something better, something More, something for HER.

Robert🐺🍌🌋 is an aging man, he has lost his hair but he keeps himself in good shape, because he is a single man and he's been a long time Dom🐺🍌🌋👋. He's a Dom that has grown older, and grown tired of the club scene.

He seems to be looking for a relationship that will last, he is looking for that other four letter word, LOVE!💓 YEHAW!

Liked the book, lots of insight into what a real bdsm relationship might be like, since the author is a real Dom🐺🍌🌋👋, but there were a couple of red flags🔥 for me. In the caning scene, he should have told her in the beginning, he was testing her limits instead of just whopping on her forever. This is supposed to be consensual, right? Didn't seem consensual, he just expected her to comply. He never discussed her limits much, especially about pain.👋👋 That disappointed me.
What woman in her right mind would let some guy she barely knows, restrain her and whip her hard? They should have gotten to know each other a LOT better before the tying up and immobilizing started.
I felt Robert was taking advantage of this woman's fragile state, and he moved too fast.
The book was written with both points of view, which was great, although the inner thoughts mostly came from Robin. Robert never explained himself much, he just expected her to go along with the things he wanted.

GEEZ! I guess this kind of lifestyle👋👋 isn't for me! I'd be the constant bad girl!💋💋👋👋
YEHAW! Ride em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎

Oh my! What an adventure! This book absolutely took my breath away. This is the first book written by this author that I have had the absolute pleasure of reading, and can honestly say that I hope it is not the last! The characters are "real", not "plastic dolls" but the average person, with life experiences, including a bit of extra weight and stretch marks, adult children and all of the demons we tend to harbor as we get older. Robin is a middle-aged divorcee in her forties who has never been truly "satisfied" by her ex, and is finally deciding to look after herself, in the ways she needs, after raising her children and putting up with her asshat ex for so many years. She's finally going to take the first step, starting with checking out a BDSM club and the many opportunities that lie within. Robert is a Dominant, never been married and tired of all of the "barbie doll" subs. He aches for a "real woman", complete with curves, and a true submissive soul. He's decided to attend the club after having kept away for a while, hoping to find someone to fulfill his needs. What he doesn't expect is to find his "little bird", a beautiful woman who not only catches his attention, but pulls at his heartstrings as well. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles thrown in their way as they travel down a new road together?
Beautifully written, with a bit of added suspense thrown in, this journey to find happiness and heal a couple of drifting souls is a breath of fresh air. I love the fact that it is written from a man's perspective, gentle yet firm.
Absolute must read!

The Heart of the Master

Robin is an older lady with two grown kids and an ex who is a complete pig. She has been interested in the BDSM world since the publishing of Fifty Shades of Gray. She decides to join a Fetish site called FetLife and finds out that they meet every week at a restaraunt as regular people. There she signs up to come to a BDSM club in hopes of meeting a man that will be for her a dominant in the bedroom. Upon her second time coming to the club she finally does meet a man named Robert who just happens to be a Dom. He finds her interesting too. They began to see each other and over several months they get closer and closer. In the meantime there is someone following Robin unbeknownst to her and it turns out he wants to do bad things to her. In the end everything comes to a head and you find out good and bad things. The sexual scenes are well written and make you hot for Robert in your own way if your a woman.

Her Master's Heart

Thought this would be a good read. I get tired of reading the same same thing. This here was based of a woman in her mid forties and she is not thin. She has curves, cellulite, saggy boobs, stretch marks, gray hair coming in, and recently divorced. She is the typical housewife whose husband left her for a younger woman. That right there interested me. Then there is Robert who again is older and balding (why that appeals to me I can't say). He is tired of meeting woman who are fake. He wants a real woman. There were many times through this story where I couldn't help but chuckle because of how or what was described about someone's body. Not meant to be intentional but more as a another point made that the people in this story are like the rest of us out there. Anyways, I enjoyed the story up until the end. Felt the ending was an after thought.

I actually rate this book a 2.5. I only liked 2 things. The fact that Robin found herself later in life and was brave to embrace it and defend herself. And also that the author, being an actual Dom in real life, explained a lot of things about the lifestyle. I was able to read the book without getting bored because it was informative while telling a story and it was a fairly quick read. If I didn't have the time to read this faster i definitely would've DNF'd it becauseit wouldn't have kept my interest. I really didn't care at all for the OTHER person. It was silly, and the ending was even more silly. There wasn't much character building at all or much talk about each person's personal life so that the reader could get to know each character and fall in love with them.

I liked it.

A good read, different, interesting and a great plot. A bit more on the mellow side of most BDSM's I have read. Great characters, Hot sex. Robert and Robin had good chemistry. He was looking for her and she needed his knowledge and understanding of the lifestyle. They fell for one another quickly like they were created for one another. I loved how she dealt with her adult children and their rudeness to Robert. They were not so young and appreciated how it was brought out in the story. I felt like the ending could have been better, was not really ready for it to end. This was a first book for me by this Author, but won't be my last

Her Master's Ego is More Appropriate

I have never read a romance written by a man and I never will again. The story lacked any passion and chemistry. It was technical in every thing that was done. For someone who looked past flaws of the mature woman he surely pointed them out repeatedly. Speaking of repeating that is all this story did was repeat itself. And what was up with the "other" storyline. It had no place or reason to be written. I just hope that this author is better at being a practicing BDSM person than he is a writer because if not then he is a very boring vanilla person.

What a refreshing change. I have read numerous books centering around the bdsm world and they are all pretty similar, this one finally gives another look from a couple who are middle aged but also real people rather than the standard beautiful people that generally tends to be. It was nice to read from an author who knows about the scene and not just written about it, because it was about the whole experience and freedom of dominance and submission rather than the fluff stuff. The only thing I would have liked was closure to a few open questions but for me a wonderful read.

For an erotic book, it was well written, though the plot was not exactly great, the eroticism was well done. It well explained the eroticism of BDSM and in fact seemed to go out of way to explain things to any who had previously never encountered BDSM in any form. For an erotic book, the author did a credible job of bringing forth some rather believable characters. If you have the least interest in BDSM and what such a lifestyle might entail, you would do yourself a service to read this.

Never to late to find your calling

The story started off kind of slow and at first I felt like I was reading an owners manual. As the chapters continued the story began to flow smoother. I really liked the different POV.. That the characters were realistic with rolling tummies and insecurities. With the right person none of that matters and your confidence soars. The inner explanations and musings were very realistic and truthful.

This was recommended to me and I was intrigued since it was written by a male. I really enjoyed it. Really liked that it had duel POV. I loved that both MCs were older and more mature. They knew who they were and what they wanted, which made the sexy times only hotter as a result. Love a man who wants nothing more than to give his partner pleasure. My only dislike was the abrupt ending with the subplot.

On writing

If you are going to write and you don't know grammar please have someone edit your work. Having your tenses wander all around a sentence, let alone past and present and other aspects of grammar being, apparently, completely interchangeable throughout the entire story, is extremely discomfiting.
