Growing up with a twice-divorced mother who could not financially support herself and her children, Laurie Itkin vowed to do whatever it would take to become financially independent. At 24, Itkin received a $1,600 inheritance from her grandmother. Instead of spending it on clothes and shoes, she bought 40 shares of Starbucks.
In Every Woman Should Know Her Options, Itkin outlines the steps she took to build a million-dollar stock portfolio before she turned 40. Filled with easy-to-understand examples and women's stories of wealth-building challenges and successes, Itkin's advice shows you how to take your hard-earned money and grow it in the stock market using options to reduce risk. Whether you hire a financial advisor to manage your money or manage it yourself, this book will put you on the path to financial empowerment.
Learn how to: • Grow your money by investing like the pros • Use options to generate income and lower your risk in the stock market • Stop paying high fees on your investments • Overcome obstacles women face in achieving financial independence.
Having only a very basic understanding of investing, this book was a wealthy of easy to understand knowledge that I know I will use as a reference in the future. It was also an inspiration for me to dip my toes into investing by making it seem less intimidating. The author has a very conversational and easy to read style, which is refreshing for a topic that can be bogged down in technical language. I highly recommend this, especially for young profession women!
Fantastic, fast read with a brief introduction to option strategies & investing. Good explanations and even better motivation. This is where the goods are at. ⭐⭐
I ended up buying this book after telling my best friend that I was interested in investing in the stock market. She said "you should read this book, it helped me a lot". With a trip coming up and in need of a good read on the plane, I bought Laurier's book, but began reading it right when it was delivered. The bad thing: I finished the book that day and had nothing to read on the plane. The good thing: this book was awesome! An easy read, but also a comprehensive guide for a beginner like myself. This may sound crazy for experts in investing, but reading Laurie's book was all I needed to begin investing. I opened a brokerage account the next day and bought my first stock. I totally recommend this book to any beginner or anyone hesitant and afraid to invest. Laurie's experience as a young investor shows that you do not have to have lots of money to invest. You can start small and grow over time. The book is also an excellent guide for using options to generate income. In fact I find myself going back often to several chapters in the book and using them as a manual for my investing. There are many investing books out there, but if you want simple and comprehensive in the same time, read this book.
This book is phenomenal! I first heard about the book after participating in a webminar hosted by my online broker (TDAmeritrade). I just finished reading it and is officially part of my "best books on investing" library. I have been investing in stocks for about 6 years now and have always been curious about options. For some reason I was under the impression options were complicated and that I would loose my money quickly (Kinda' like how most people feel before they start participating in the stock market). This book pretty much eliminated all my fears and is such a simple, straight forward read that really opened my eyes about how simple (and profitable!) investing in options can be. I am ready to get started and I am very excited. I am an avid investor and very passionate about it. This book just added on to my passion. Great job Laurie! :)
