This first book in an older series is not my cuppa! The writing was stiff and felt lethargic. There wasn't any real spark to this story or the characters. Just meh and blah. Though the story had some potential, it struck out! The whole scenario was just too make believe and unrealistic. The plotline missed all the important bases -- just one foul ball after another. This romance between a small town librarian and the 12-year-older-than-her major league baseball player continues in a second installment, but I won't be returning to the ballpark. I wasn't inspired and didn't connect with either of the main characters. The supposed hero's father was more entertaining by far than anyone or anything else connected with this story!

I love books about single parents. It's definitely one of my favourite genres
And this one was no different. Wes was a pro ball player, but now he was let go by his team. Bad but maybe now he can spend more time with his daughter.
Kristin is trying to build a new life and she was well on her way till Wes Martin came back to town. The more time she spends with him the more she can't help falling for this single dad. But then things change for Wes. So is she just another notch on his bed post or did this mean as much to him as it did to her
Loved this story and defintely loved the narrators and I am so buying Burnt as well❤️ This one had lots of sweetness, drama and single dad hotness and you definitely could hear it in the way it was narrated ❤️

I didn't think this was going to be for me and guess what... it wasn't!

So that was a bummer, but I definitely think it is for someone if that makes sense.

I just don't think sports romances in general are for me.

I haven't read any books by Lacy Hart before, but I saw the baseball player on the cover and knew I needed to check it out.

I'm actually pretty happy that I gave this book a try. I liked the twist of an older ballplayer who also happens to be a single dad. Wes was unlike any character that I've read in a sports romance. He's confident on the field, but in his relationship with his daughter and with Kristin, he's out of his element. It was interesting to watch him flounder with the uncertainty of his baseball life, trying to navigate his relationship with his teenage daughter and then figure out what's exactly happening between him and the town librarian.

I had mixed feelings about Kristin. The character herself isn't bad. I like that she's a librarian, is pretty confident in life, and just generally a nice girl. I think her age is a little off though. The author ages her at 22. I think she should have been a couple years older considering a librarian needs a master's degree on top of their 4 year degree. 22 is pushing it a little. It also creeped me out just a touch that she's 22 and Wes's daughter is 15. Personally, I prefer less of an age gap between my characters. That said, outside of the couple times that age was mentioned, it wasn't terribly noticeable. It's not like Kristin was extremely immature or anything.

The author did a good job of the character and relationship development. There was enough tension to make things interesting and hold my attention. I see myself reading more from this author in the future.

The narration by Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis was pretty darn good. The dual narration was much needed and welcomed. The only thing that really stood out to me was the fact that Kristin is a southern girl and there was no accent. I really could have used that little touch. Otherwise, I enjoyed their performances.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I was a little leary about reading a book about baseball but once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Kristin moves to a town called Chandler to become the town's new librarian. Once there she meets a teenage girl named Izzy and her Dad, Wes who was a former player for the Pirates.

I really enjoyed the story, especially how Wes was so likeable and down to earth. He didn't come across as cocky as one would have thought. I will definitely recommend this one and look forward to more from this author.

Single-dad and respectable pro-ball palyer Wes Martin finds himself at home after being released from his team. Kristin Arthar is the newest librarian in the town of Chandler.

A whirlwind adorable romance that tackles family, love and everything in between. Lacy Hart made this beautiful story come to life that had me turning the pages until the end. I loved the dialogue of this story – the way the characters addressed each other with respect and kindness. I felt apart of the story, like I was there in Chandler with Wes and Kristin. I felt like I was at the ball game when Wes played and watching with his family at home. I can’t wait to start book two – Burnt.

Baseball and love...a perfect combination

Just when you think you have everything figured out in life it all falls to pieces. Wes has been playing professional baseball for 15 years and gets cut from his team before opening day. Going back home is time for him to reconnect with his family and finally time for him to take over the care of his daughter. But crossing paths with the new librarian Kristen leads to instant chemistry and hot passion. Will this new relationship make it hard on Wes and his daughter? Or will being called back to baseball put an end to his new romance? With a beautiful heartwarming storyline and great characters this book is a must read. This had the perfect ending.

The heroine cried because the hero's daughter yelled at her.

Are you seriously crying because a teenager yelled at you? Bye.

Stand up for yourself instead of crying, running away, and then pouting.

I love sports romance, especially involving a baseball player. This book didn't disappoint. But this book was so much more. Wes feels like he has reached the end of baseball career but he isn't read to let go. When it seems like he has no choice, he returns home to his parents and teenage daughter to figure out his life. He expected to rekindle relationships and get himself situated while he waited to see what his future held. What he didn't expect was to fall for the new librarian in town. Kristen didn't expect to fall for the famous baseball player Wes in the small town she recently moved to. Neither of them knew that their attraction would be so strong and their romance would happen so fast. As they both try and figure out what they want and life events happen, they both realize one thing: they may just need each other like they haven't needed someone before. But their lives seem to be going in different directions and they may not be able to meet in the middle. I loved how this author really understood baseball. As she explained the games I felt like I was in the stand watching the game myself. I love a good librarian story. Thrown in a sexy baseball player and I'm all in. And I was in this story. I'd love to see more of these characters in the future. A must read for romance, especially sports romance, fans. But this is more than a romance. This is a story about finding yourself. This is a story about what's important. This is a story about family. And hello single dad romance fans, get ready to swoon so hard this single father who just wants to do right for his daughter. You'll fall hard...I did.

This book is about professional baseball player Wes Martin and the new town librarian Kristin Arthur. Wes meets Kristin at the library, where he is surprising his daughter, Isabella, after being dropped from the Pittsburgh Pirates during spring training. Actually, for the first probably third or half of the book, there is almost no mention of sports (or in particular baseball), which is unusual for a sports romance book. I wanted to totally be in love with this book, because I luv the "Single Dad" trope, but this book made it tough. Yes, the story was sweet and cute and was all wrapped up neatly by the end (although I personally think an epilogue is ALWAYS necessary). This book was looooong, really unnecessarily, as the author tended to describe literally every little thing and action the characters did sometimes with too much detail. And then other things that maybe needed more detail or explanation were just sort of glazed over with very little specifics. I would say the story is probably closer to a 3.5, but perhaps it's just a case of "it's not you, it's me", since my tastes have definitely been evolving. I listened to this via audio which was narrated by Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis, who did a pretty good job.

********** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW **********

My first book/audio from Lacy Hart and I of course, loved Change Up! I’m not huge into sports but for some reason I love some good sports romance. I adored Wes and his daughter, Izzy. I really adored the little match-making that happened here. Kristin is the local librarian. The characters are all sweet and totally match the tone of the story. I do wish we got to know the characters a bit more… perhaps just a bit more layered and a bit more complex. I enjoyed the chemistry between Kris and Wes and the heat was nice. I do wish there was a bit more action… either angst or just more feelings. However, this is a great sweet and happy story with a bit of conflict.

The narrators Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis were fantastic! Even though I wish there was more conflict or feelings… I found that I flew through this. I think I happy and sweet story is just what is needed every once and a while! I feel like Solo and Lewis really complimented each other.

Change Up is a sweet romance.

Wes has been playing baseball for 15 years. He's a 35 year old man with a 15 year old daughter whom he hardly ever sees, and when he's let go from his current team, he heads home, hoping to get to know his daughter. When at home, he meets the town's young librarian, Kristin, and suddenly, he's not thinking of baseball any longer.

I liked Change Up and thought the characters were sweet, if a tad one dimensional and generic. I didn't quite feel the connection between Wes and Kristin, honestly, and I kinda skimmed throughout a good portion of the book because I was starting to get bored while reading. I was hoping for something super sexy and exciting, but what I got was something mellow and sweet, but lacking in intensity. Still, it's a decent story, if not that exciting.

I liked this story. It was a sweet, small town romance with a hot pro baseball player. What's not to like?

Wes is a hottie with a good heart. I liked that while he may have made it big, he didn't let it change who he was as a person. He could still be down to earth, and he valued where he came from. Kristin was a sweet girl looking for a fresh start. She was quiet, and not looking to hit it off with anyone famous. I found her easy to like and wanted her to get her fairytale ending.

I will say that the beginning of their relationship felt a little rushed. However, I think this was addressed within the book in a way that it wasn't completely unbelievable. Izzy (Wes's daughter) definitely threw in some doses of reality for them to deal with.

Overall, the writing was well done, and while the narration wasn't my absolute favorite, it was professional quality, and any criticisms I had were completely a matter of personal preference.

Change Up KU 346 pgs **** 10/3/21 Wes & Kristin

4 stars. This book was so good and was very hard to put down. The flow was easy and steady, there were some grammatical errors and some omitted words but not enough to take away from the story. The romance build up was perfect, not instant love, their chemistry was magnetic, slow build but it was there. Izzy was a typical teenager, especially one that has been raised by her grandparents while Wes played pro ball. They weren’t close and open like they should have been so hopefully that will come to play in the next book. I loved Wes’ family. The play by play of a few baseball games was awesome! That was one of my favorite parts of the book! That is what is supposed to be in a sports book, not just the mention of a person playing. Great job on writing those scenes, they were perfect. I am really looking forward to reading more by this author.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.

The author did a really great job writing this sports themed romance. It is on the sweeter side of the romance spectrum and it is a heartwarming tale. The story flows very smoothly with characters that feel genuine and seem more down to earth. This was a pleasure to listen to as we watch Wes and Kristen's relationship develop over the course of the story. Also, it does have a happily ever after!

I think the dual narration was a great touch to this well written story. Since the point of view alternates between Wes and Kristen throughout, I feel as though having two narrators really helped magnify the writing and the feelings the characters experienced. Both did a fabulous job and I really enjoyed their performances.

Audio Review

Change Up by Lacy Hart is a single dad sports romance, narrated by Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Wes is a professional baseball player, he's also a single dad to 15 year old Isabelle. When life throws a curve-ball and Wes finds himself back in his home town indefinitely he meets Kristen.
Kristen is the local librarian and when she meets Wes she has no idea who he really is, there is this immediate chemistry between them even though Wes is 13 years her senior but with Wes having a teenage daughter the age gap will be the least of her worries.

I have listened to a Lacy Hart book before with these same narrators and although I didn't feel much of a connection with them in that book I can certainly say that with this book all that changed.

This is a good story that has feeling. These characters are struggling with a couple different things. They have family strife, job struggles and fitting in with a new town. There is some fun times, great friends and family.

Secondary characters are wonderful. The parents really added and helped this story move along. I loved how the Mom would say the Dads (Wyatt..) name when Wes needed something “explained” to him that she thought he should already know. Ha ha! Plus the dad really helps out with Kristin when she is struggling. Very nice!

Overall this is a good heartfelt story. It has some ups and downs that make the story good. The story had a nice flow to it. The characters are well rounded and have some growth to them. I did listen to this on audio. The two narrators did a wonderful job.

I generally don't do a lot of sports romance stories, but I thought this was absolutely adorable. Wes is a stand-up guy who lost his spot on the team because, in the world of baseball, 35 is old. Hey, everyone has a birthday! He meets Kristin, the local librarian, and sparks fly! I thought they were great together. It took me a while to warm up to Izzy. There was one moment, she made me extremely angry. But she came around, just as I did. What was missing for me was conflict. Other than Izzy, there wasn't any real drama. I'm okay with that, but it would have been nice to have. The narrations were spot on and the sweet personalities injected into each character made the story sweet and endearing.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how famous you are not everyone will recognise you

This is the unusual situation Wes finds himself in he has been playing baseball for 15 years and everyone knew who he was now he has been let go and he has decided he needs to build a relationship with his daughter, but then he meets Kirstin the young librarian and she has no idea who he is a novel thing for Wes. When family meddle the two of them eventually go on a date and you can see straight away that it will be the start of something special. This is a sweet book about a may/december romance and is a pleasure to read

i was given an ARC copy of this book but this is a true and honest review

Wow, what a wonderful story.
It is a book that you prefer to read at once during a rainy day. The main characters are well described and the chemistry in the book is the god of the pages. They are made for each other even though they only know each other briefly. Nothing is skipped and there are no loose ends in this book. I am not going to tell anything about the content because it has to be read by myself. From me 5 stars.

This story features librarian Kristin Arthur and major league baseball player Wes Martin. Their initial meeting and first date was pretty quick but actually felt genuine. The way it all played out is just how it would have played out in real life. The events were predictable but you get so swept away by the sweet and steamy romance that it doesn’t matter how predictable it was. Wes is fit, sexy and he knows how to make her feel like she’s the only woman in the world.

This is a fantastic read that makes you sigh when it’s over.

This was my first Lacy Hart's book. I love this small town, single Dad, older man/younger woman, and Sport Romance. Wes and Kristin are great together, and they share an instant attraction. I also love Izzy, Wes's daughter, and Wes's parents. This is a sweet and fun listen, with a great ending. The narration is really well done. Juliana Sola and Daniel James Lewis have a great voice, easy to listen to. I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Change Up is a sweet love story about a pro baseball player that has been dropped by his team, he heads home and finds the local librarian is someone he wants to get to know. There is a large age gap between these two as well as struggles with his 15 year old daughter and his career.

The narration is really good for this story. They keep your interest throughout and make it believable. I received a code from Audiobook Obsessions to listen and review and give my honest opinion. I enjoyed it, it's a solid 4 for me.

So... I'm not sure where to start with this. This book had an excellent premise! The big bad baseball player (who is actually sweet) falls for the new hometown librarian (who is actually naughty) and there are a few hiccups along the way. There is potential there. It was hard to connect to the characters and the every day minutiae killed me. I assume when someone gets in a car, they're going to close the door before they start driving. Things like that don't really need to be said. I liked the book, but I feel like 100 pages of daily goings on could have been cut out and it still would have made sense.

Wes plays for the Pirates, he is over his thirties though and one day they just let him go. He comes back to his hometown, to his daughter and parents. Little does he know a young librarian would steal his heart. This story is all about choices. Family, romance or business first? I think Wes handles it pretty well and gets his sevond wind and a chance to be happier in life. I loved his parents, they are pretty cool and supportive.

Change Up (The Home Stand Series Book 1) was a great read by Lacy Hart. Wes is a pro-ballplayer who finds himself without a team to play for. He heads home ready to focus on his daughter. Kristin came to Chandler to build a new life. Things abruptly change when Wes comes back to town. They have a chance meeting in the library which leads to more. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
