A video game fairy queen is trying to kill Damon in the real world, and he hasn't got a clue why.Damon is your average three-fingered VR he wants to slay virtual baddies, get oodles of views, and earn enough quid to cover rent. Unfortunately, playing Draichot Online gets a lot more complicated when a monster from the game shows up in his London flat and tries to kill him for real.

Damon is saved by his loyal dog Petunia (who can talk now?) and a gnome named Simon (a guardian gnome, not a garden gnome, thank-you-very-much) and is thrust into a mad world where magic and fairies and Magic Fairy Queens are all real, and they can all kill you—in or out of the game. And one of the Queens is gunning for Damon.

Luckily, he’s got friends who can help him the girl he loves, her girlfriend, his dog, a gnome, and a mysterious American wizard from Appalachia. If they’re lucky, brave, and clever, they might find a way to survive the very real fairy war that is occurring in Draichot Online, thwart the Queen of All That Bleeds and her murderous henchfairies, and save the day.

But if they lose, the war in Draichot Online might very well spill out onto the streets of London.

This novel is chock full of LitRPG elements (the main character is a VR streamer, after all) but it also has the occasional real-world encounter with monsters/wizards/gnomes/magic. If you ever wondered what would happen if the bad guys from your favorite video game tried to invade our world, well… check out Damon’s adventures in Draichot Online.

What if Wade Watts from Ready Player One woke up on the horse cart at the beginning of Skyrim? If you want to know, you need to read Damon Silver.

Wiseman fleshes out real, compelling heroes that you cannot help but visualize as they livestream from their flat, walk their dog, and fight monsters virtually or in the real world. The main villain is rich and deep, making their manipulations and brutality all the more believable; you will love to hate them.

The story's arc draws and holds a perfectly balanced tension that drags you inexorably along, wanting and needing to know what happens next. And the climactic ending delivers enough twist and punch to rival a Sanderlanche.

A fantastic read. Wiseman has delivered a novel that will stand tall alongside Ready Player One, Dungeon Crawler Carl, and the Arcane Ascension Series. It will open your eyes to a world both familiar and wonderfully, magically new.

Great engaging story

Loved the characters and was engaged with the story from the first chapter. Interplay of the game world with the real worlds was a unique experience that added to the drama throughout. Battle scenes were well written and left my heart pounding. Its not often that you get a visceral reaction from the written page like this.
