Ivy Johansson is living the only life she’s ever known, in an underground colony in what was once a remote part of the Australian landscape, now almost seafront property… And it’s her birthday.
The Earth’s surface is uninhabitable, but small pockets of humanity survive, and some even thrive, in highly controlled underground cities. Ivy is one of the lucky ones. But she yearns for more. She’s never been on an adventure… and she’s never fallen in love.
The Eternity League, a secret society within her colony, offers hope for change, to return the Earth to its former glory. Ivy doesn’t know the details, but she knows she wants to be a part of it. And she has skills that the League needs.
Risking everything that is safe in her life, she joins the league on a mission to the distant past. But what she finds there is not what she expected. Nor is the mission’s actual objective.
In a world of abundance and mystery, Ivy is challenged in ways that push her to the limits of her soul. Can love save the day? Or will an act of defiance cause Ivy to lose it all, including her life?

Shan L. Scott is an Ipswich, QLD, Australian writer with a penchant for the dark and macabre. Her interest in all things supernatural and her natural instincts in deftly weaving it into a tale makes her storytelling riveting. Her vast life experience can be perceived in the mature themes of her books, and the manner in which she approaches and explores often dark, yet extremely sensitive topics is a testament to her insight and innate desire for exposing the truth of a situation.
Shan has a diverse background, from a career in Electronics in Central Queensland’s Coal mining belt, to Quality Assurance and bridge building in Brisbane, she has always enjoyed an intellectual challenge. She studied a B Digital Design at Griffith University and BA Archaeology at USQ and also had a brief stint at Medical School.
Shan’s passion is for the arts, however. She enjoys writing, designing digital artwork, playing classical guitar and building flatpack furniture (there’s an art to putting anything from IKEA together!) She has two cats who love to sleep close by while she is writing, and Shan can often be seen rubbing a soft tummy while pondering what to write next.
The Second Sight Trilogy is a modern day tale which begins with a dark supernatural romantic drama, and increases in intensity and foreboding with each book, culminating in a nerve-wracking horror story by the final instalment.
Such a refreshing book to read. It has a mixture of adventure, fantasy (time travel) and reality, protagonist and antagonist, powerful imagery, romance and an underlying theme that is inspirational and totally relevant to our present world. No matter what your preferred genre I think you would like this book!
If you like to grow, and if you enjoy the mystical, this book will gratify you. The writer weaves an epic adventure across three time zones, peopled by characters you will love and hate, but who, it cannot be denied, reflect the human condition. It is an emotional roller coaster that will challenge your feelings, hopes, dreams and even your mistakes and faults. While achieving all this, the author binds the various elements together with a thread of tender love. It is an exquisite piece of art which reflects not only what society is like now, but how it once was and how it might be in the future. I must mention the landscapes which are sometimes blissfully Eden like; sometimes so broken that your heart will break. It will make you reflect on the characters, who could very well be your ancestors and progeny. Moving through the landscapes was rather like being in therapy, with time to think and reflect and more importantly come to important conclusions. The novel is rich with paradoxes that tease and lead you into profundity. These contrasted beautifully with passages of ego melting simplicity. The book cover should not be overlooked for it becomes part of the plot in such an original way that one is constantly turning back to it in order to consider what is written in a different way. I loved this novel. I rarely read books twice, but I will definitely read this one again..
What an intriguing read! This book is so descriptive with amazing settings and storyline. I love how it all comes together towards the end. Beautifuly and creatively written with a message that will stand true for years to come. An uplifting and enjoyable read. Thanks Shan.
