Dedicated to the impoverished in forgotten places of the world, this book questions whether the likes of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United States Agency for International Development and other big international aid organizations help or hinder the world’s poorest people. It also questions whether the aid packages provided are genuine or whether they are scams designed to subjugate Third World countries. BANKRUPTING THE THIRD How the Global Elite Drown Poor Nations in a Sea of Debt, by novelists, filmmakers and independent researchers James Morcan & Lance Morcan, exposes the culture of corruption within the aforementioned aid organizations and the arrogance with which they treat their Third World ‘clients.’ The Morcans reveal there’s a nefarious hidden agenda at play whereby the ‘generosity’ extended by international aid organisations in assisting the development of the Third World and providing relief in the event of natural disasters comes with serious strings attached. Strings designed to fleece vulnerable nations. The reader is reminded the economic hit men popularized in John Perkins’ 2004 bestseller ‘Confessions of an Economic Hit Man’ are still alive and well – in Africa in particular. BANKRUPTING THE THIRD WORLD puts two poverty-stricken nations under the magnifying glass to reveal the long-term impact of being the recipient of substantial financial aid from the West. The resulting debt accrued by these nations may surprise even the most skeptical reader. In writing this book, the authors were motivated by one sickening 21,000 people die from starvation every day. That’s one person every four seconds! More sickening is the fact such deaths are unnecessary given there is more than enough wealth in the world for everyone to at least receive the basic necessities of life, and more than enough in the Third World for it to organically sustain itself. By the time you get to the end of this book you’ll see there’s as much wealth to be found in the Third World as there is in the First World. In fact, terms like ‘Third World’ and ‘impoverished nations’ are essentially misnomers as they imply wealth and resources are limited in these forgotten places. The authors aim to dispel that myth once and for all. It’s hoped BANKRUPTING THE THIRD WORLD will contribute in some small way to the masses pressuring world leaders to eradicate the extreme poverty that sees millions of our fellow Human Beings – men, women and children – dying unnecessarily every year.

I received the book from the author for an honest review.
GREED!! Once again this is the highlight of this book as third world countries are exploited for their resources, minerals and land. The author allows you to think as he talks about the grip the World Bank and its counter parts has on the world and how poverty and war triggers the greed of these institutions to have more power and control. Third world countries are mere puppets in the puppeteers hands and with each tug they do has required without second guessing the action leaving devastation behind all over the place. Third world countries are worst off than ever before with poverty on the rise as the controlling mop's bank accounts rise with deaths every few seconds and the world watch seemingly unnoticed and uncaring about what is going on in the rest of the world. The book raise questions and allows you to ask more questions, even to do some research on some of the issues to make your own assumptions of what is stated. James Morcan has a neck for these kinds of books allowing you to open your eyes and discover what is in plain sight. In his subtle way he gives you some hard facts and what you do with it is up to you but at the end you cannot hide behind ignorance. A great book to read and one that will challenge you. Thanks for the opportunity to read the book.
For me, this sixth book in The Underground Knowledge series is the most important one, alongside the preceding book ‘International Banksters’, which it feels like it goes hand in hand with. There’s a lot of hard facts in these two books and the authors don’t shy away from telling it how it is.
This quote from Ron Paul which is included in the book sums up how things are – and what Bankrupting The Third World is all about: “Western governments tax their citizens to fund the World Bank, lend this money to corrupt Third World dictators who abscond with the funds, and then demand repayment which is extracted through taxation from poor Third World citizens, rather than from the government officials responsible for the embezzlement. It is in essence a global transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich. Taxpayers around the world are forced to subsidize the lavish lifestyles of Third World dictators and highly-paid World Bank bureaucrats who don’t even pay income tax.”
It’s pretty damn clear to me that this is how things work in essence, and this book does a great job of giving some great examples of how the so-called Third World is hustled by the ruling global financial elite. This isn’t in the realms of conspiracy theories – all you have to do is follow the money trails.
There are a lot of books out there about this sort of stuff, and I did feel that this one didn’t contain enough information, but it does outline the cons of bankrupting poor nations in clear and precise terms so that any reader can grasp this important information easily.
This book answered a lot of questions for me. It had never made sense to me why Africa with its vast natural wealth has remained so very poor - now I know why.
We all too familiar with the images we see daily of poor people across the world, but we never stop to ask ourselves why are these people so poor when they are living in the most resource rich places on the globe? Why is it that Western Governments continue to applaud themselves for giving large sums of aid to the poor nations, but abject poverty continues to be a scourge in the 21st Century. Is it just fate, mismanagement by the leaders of these nations as many would have us believe or something more sinister?
In "BANKRUPTING THE THIRD WORLD", the authors show precisely what is wrong with the aid industry, which mask scams that leave fragile nations paying more than they receive in foreign aid. Part one of the book shows all the ways that Western institutions (organisations, private companies and banks) rip-off those most in need. The two case studies in the second part of the book, demonstrate how people living in the vicinity of great wealth are made to lose control of their own resources and so left destitute.
This is a well written and thought provoking book. We should all be questioning the aid policies of Western Governments which not only provide little benefit to the poor across the world, and results in much of the money donated by many ordinary people, together with the aid budgets (which come from the taxes we pay), being left in the hands of private companies and central banks. Recommended reading.
BANKRUPTING THE THIRD WORLD: How the Global Elite Drown Poor Nations in a Sea of Debt (The Underground Knowledge Series, #6) by James Morcan & Lance morcan
This book questions whether the likes of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United States Agency for International Development and other big international aid organizations help or hinder the world’s poorest people.
The Authors have researched a few third world countries and digs deep into the funding received by the United States and other countries. Some of the findings may be a bit shocking to readers.
I felt this book was very knowledgeable, with a lot of references and research that was put into this book (and explained on the pages). Also questioned whether the aid packages provided are genuine or whether they are scams designed to subjugate Third World countries.
“Father-and-son Lance & James Morcan draw the reader’s attention to some of the lousy and downright dirty economic tactics used against poverty-stricken nations!” https://walkerputsche.wordpress.com/
The authors expose corruptions within the international financial aid organisations and their arrogance and general superciliousness towards their third world ´clients´ and research the impact it is having of being the recipient of substantial financial aid from the west. This book also questions whether or not, the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, USAID and many other large international aid organisations help or counteract the world’s poorest people. With numerous research and invaluable references, the authors present what is wrong with the aid industry and equip readers with an underground knowledge to question why these barbaric aid policies of Western Governments, private companies and central banks are in place.
The investigative journalist Lance Morcan has put pencil to paper, or rather fingers to keyboard, and addressed one of the political issues I am passionate about. The enslavement of third world countries to the IMF and World Bank on the lifetime of debt merry go round. I could not express myself as well and certainly have never marked the trails as well as he has and cannot see how any intelligent person could read this book of reasoning and come to any other conclusion. The problem is, when and how will it end? Probably not in my lifetime. I fail to understand how these people and their cohorts can arise each morning and rob the citizens of these countries of a decent standard of living and watch them spiral into abject poverty without a glimmer of conscience whatsoever. Thanks for bringing this out into light Lance and James. You continue to be the conscience of those without one. Well done.
