When not seeking out interesting new locales for his books he can be found dinning with friends and enjoying all the city he adores has to offer.
Though he has not yet met the supernatural denizens of NYC, he does hope too one day. And yes, there is a "letter Lounge" albeit under a different name.:)

This story is part of a series and while it can be read as a stand-alone it is best read in order for continuality. Mark and Vinnie both have their hands full, P.I. Mark is left to deal with their upcoming wedding and the office by himself while detective Vinnie is caught up with a secret case that has him working constantly, and Mark’s assistant Jaime is off looking for the perfect wedding dress for her upcoming nuptials. Mark’s life is about to get harder when he gets an angelic client, he has to find the missing sword of the Archangel Michael to stop evil from arising again. Mark discovers two dark angels are also hunting the sword and they have no qualms about using violent means to discover its whereabouts. Mark is about to face his worst crisis as the case drags in his loved ones.

This is a brilliant addition to the Mark Julian, Vampire P.I. Mysteries series, where an ancient vampire is about to confront an evil that just might destroy his happy life. Mark is over two thousand years old, he’s happy with his life as a private investigator for the paranormal world, and, with his human lover Vinnie. Vinnie is a detective and although his mind is still a bit boggled by the paranormal world he is happy with his upcoming wedding to Mark. As Mark delves into his newest case Vinnie is tied up with his own investigation, their wedding is the last thing on either of their minds but Vinnie’s mother is going head to head with the archbishop who refuses to allow a prayer at her son’s wedding.

Well boys and girls I have to admit that I loved the way this story unfolded, while Mark’s and Vinnie’s relationship is more in the background I found that it still shone through at times. Mark is very much the center of this story as he hunts for clues for the elusive sword, the two dark angels are as evil as you could imagine, so there are some scenes that could be disturbing. We also discover that manipulation is not solely a human vice, in fact humans have nothing on the manipulation done by angels.

This is a really well written story, it fills you in briefly of the main facts of Mark and Vinnie but it is still better to have read the first two books so you get a better understanding of them and their relationship and also other characters that are in this story. We also see flashbacks to Mark’s previous life as a human as he remembers his previous marriage and the circumstances of his being turned. The hunt for the sword is well arranged and it keeps your attention as the race for the clues heats up, and we are left reeling by the turn of events. So this isn’t the usual sparkly vampire story, there is terrible violence and danger, there isn’t a particular happy ending but there’s an ending that makes you want to read the next book now.

I recommend this to those who love vampires stories that are just that bit more realistic, who love stories with a bit of grit to them, who love bumpy relationship struggles, who adore stories with danger and violence and who also love a story where true love faces its greatest challenge yet.

Original Blog Post: Blog Tour & eARC Review: The Case Of The Heavenly Host (A Mark Julian, Vampire P.I. Mystery #3) by L.G. Fabbo-Gonnella

I have read so many vampire themed stories I have lost count. So what makes Mark Julian different from all the rest? Well, for one, this is no Twilight character, another, he has no uber-drama-queen reaction to fighting off his instinctive response to the presence of blood, third, well he panics!

This is the third of the series and while reading it, I found this could stand all on its own. Of course, being a third of a series, those who decide to read this alone will be kept guessing over what was going on in the previous installments without really getting to that point where I felt lost without them. (Yes, I read the first two, so now worries for me :D so I recommend reading the whole to get the full impact of the way this one ended!)

From start to finish this had an air of mystery to it. Mark is on full panic attack mode because he is left to do all the arrangements for his and Vinnie's upcoming nuptials. Thing is, Vinnie's mom and her best friend are coming in to help out. They have a thing going these two women and Mark is scared of them. Then there is Mark's sort of boss who wants to have a hand in the ceremony itself. Things go to a head with the Church itself when an archangel comes in to hire Mark to find something for him.

Yes, an archangel. You read right. Archangel Raphael has come down from Scotland and bids Mark to find the Sword of Light fashioned by Archangel Michael. He gives him a list of people who have fragments of information Mark would need to get to the location. Sounds easy enough.

Unfortunately, Mark discovers that his list is a death list of sorts, one that a couple of malignant fallen angels in the guise of angelic innocence are using themselves. The race is on. The violence gets nastier by the turn of the page.

Vinnie falls into danger and Mark does everything he could to save the love of his life.

This was a really interesting read, especially as the story flits from the present to the past when Mark was still the First Citizen's nephew and heir to the Roman Empire that was under Augustus. This serves as a comparison to the present situation Mark finds himself in from wedding preparations to how the unexpected can affect his life.

What I really liked was how light this read. This is a mystery thriller and the romance between Mark and Vinnie are treated more like a backdrop to the search for the elusive sword. However as the surprises escalates, this romance becomes the core to who Mark is.

For those who like vampires and angels and blood and gore, this is quite the interesting read and keeps you on your toes to the bitter end.

Until the next book, that is.

This has been one of the best anthologies I’ve read so far. I love stories that tackle the science fiction, the supernatural in all its shape and sizes, and add a healthy dose of man on man loving to it! All the stories of this anthology are so unique and different that you can’t help being surprised, or taken aback, and certainly you will be entertained. Yet although some of these stories are fun and light, others will bring you to tears.

I couldn’t really pick favorites this time around. Some have been special to me though because they tugged on some special strings. I’ve been a Justin Gaylord fan since the very beginning, when Taylin and Lily told me of their stories, then they game me small bits (they are cruel like that), so I was so happy to finally read the whole story! He’s just amazing and his inner dialogue is to die for.

Jonas I’ve always found an interesting character, but Asta Idonea’s A Whale of a Time brought an interesting new spin on this Biblical story for the high-school student who still remembers the Romanian play inspired by it. And The Gift by Frostina? She’d warned me it was short, but how someone could sketch such compelling characters in less than 3000 words and link their lives in such a beautiful, heartbreaking way, that’s just amazing. Great debut for her!

These are however special mentions because of very personal aspects, I honestly enjoyed each and every story of this mind boggling collection that will test your grasp of reality. I strongly recommend you go get your copy right now and start reading!

Ok, so i'm starting to get a bit more of a feel for these book now, and while they could still do with some tightening up, and way way less use of buddy or honey as an endearment they does seem to be a bigger picture emerging.
This book starts off rather silly, and ends up in a rather dark place. The mystery here is a lot stronger and more interesting that the first 2 books, and I got a better feeling for Mark as well, Vinnie remains a blank to me.

Book 4 beckons..
