I saw the full 2 pages of trigger warnings and I jumped right in! I must admit that even at my age I had to google some. This was such a well executed read, flowed well and the characters were literally alive for me in 3 D mode. It’s spicy, I’d give it 4 🌶️
Whole did I meet? I met a young woman who came from a horrible abusive past, I met 2 brothers who were her friends and took her under their wing protecting her. This went a little further the older they all got. I’d say she and they as the author put it “ were very adventurous “ I was shocked when it suddenly took an unexpected turn, nicely shocked as it fed my thriller girl juices I was flicking the pages towards the end quicker than I could blink.
If anyone says indie authors….nah, well let me tell you this my daughter and I are doing a November indie author read only, and December and January and continuing and I’d like to add we have purchased these books out of our own money, so this is as usual my honest review on this book as is always the case.
If you read dark romance give this a try

Wow, I have no words.. the ending was insane!
I absolutely loved every second of this book. Ebony my girl you were everything and more. So brave and always stood your ground and never showed any fear even when she found out who was behind everything that happened.
Caleb and cooper were so unhinged but I was here for it😍

What a wild mind fuck! Twin MMCs out for revenge. A FMC with a hidden/secret identity running away from two tragic pasts. A chance to attend university, even if it brings her back to the place she once ran from and a cereal deleter on the hunt for girls that look JUST like her…

The description of the book definitely carries all the main elements of what happens. Before reading, I would recommend taking some time to read the trigger warnings the author gives at the beginning of the book to make sure that there are no elements that might be triggering or damaging.
This book is dark and spicy. Ebony is tough and resilient while also being vulnerable. She’s cautious in some instances and in others I was really questioning her self-preservation instincts.
Caleb is the brooding bad boy and his feelings regarding Ebony are 100% there’s a thin line between love & hate while he’s processing having Ebony back in their lives.
Cooper is the more laidback of the two. Funny at the most inopportune times. He’s the more willing of the two to forgive and let go of the negative feelings he’s harboring for Ebony.
Both brothers are 100% unhinged. The definition of “touch her and die” vibes and the chemistry between the three of them is off the charts. As well as just the level of comfort the author portrays them having with each other once their conflict is resolved.
The whole serial killer angle adds a level on intrigue to the book that I really enjoyed. I had an idea about who the serial killer was by the middle of the book. Even then, when the big reveal happened, I was right but I was also wrong, and genuinely surprised. I was shocking to say the least.

I never knew I had a thing for cowboys or twins.. and then I read this book and 😳 sign me up! Caleb and Cooper are the perfect book boyfriends and the way they have loved Ebony their whole lives through everything life threw at them is just everything. Even when they think they hate her they don’t, they love her. Ebony is a strong MFC, she had a horrible life but never let it break her, not all the way anyways. Thank Goodness for HEA’s! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! This was my first book by this author and I plan to go back and read her others

Veiled Obsessions by Billie Jade Kermack is a standalone novel. But, one of the things that I did like about it was that you got the chance to see characters from the Grimmville world cross over and make an appearance in this book. That was really a very cool concept and I really enjoyed that. Although, you don't have to have read anything in the Grimmville world to enjoy this book.
I found that the synopsis of this book really carried everything, or at least all of the main elements of what was going to happen in this book. I found the synopsis to be well-written, and detailed, and had a great overview of what to expect from the book and what you were going to be reading and I enjoyed that. I actually really enjoy it when an author gives us such a detailed synopsis. It really helps to set the mood of the book and what you are going to be walking into when you start the book.
I love how this book is not only dark, but it is also full of angst and spice. I found Ebony to be tough, intelligent, strong, and resilient, and yet she still had this sweet and vulnerable side too. There were some instances where I found that she was cautious and careful, not wanting to walk into danger too quickly and in others you found yourself if she had any self-preservation instincts.
Caleb, now he's the one who you would call the brooding bad boy. And you can tell that his feelings when it comes to Ebony are there 100% and for him, there is this very fine line between love and hate, even while he's trying to process what it means to have Ebony back in their lives.

And the comfort that Ebony gets from them and they get from her, the author portrayed this beautifully.
On top of all of this, you add in the serial killer running loose adds an entirely new level of suspense and intrigue to this book that just blew my mind and kept me enthralled. I kinda thought I might know who the killer was part way through the book, and then when the reveal happened and I was right, but also wrong, it was nice because it gave me this pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting. The ending was shocking, to say the least and I loved it to pieces.
I can't say enough good things about this book and I really can't recommend it enough. Billie Jade Kermack just did a phenomenal job writing this book and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. And I highly recommend you read and follow Billie Jade Kermack, she is quickly becoming another of my favorite authors to watch out for and read.

This story is a dark romance with a twist of dark academia, mystery, and thriller. Set in a small UK town is a nail-biting, unsolved murder. There's also dark pasts and traumas needing to be confronting no matter how much our FMC, Ebony, tries to dodge them. There are just some things one can't escape. She finds herself having to move back to the same town where she grew up in an abusive foster care. She takes a chance to improve her life by accepting the scholarship at Hell's Haven University, only her past seems to be waiting eagerly to gobble her up deeper into Hell itself. Not to mention that there's an clandestine serial killer in the midst of all this!
Eventually, she encounters the Knox twins, Caleb and Cooper. Problem is that they're now out for revenge for her getting them imprisoned. Literally two shadows emerging lurking around to stalk her, watch her every move until they can put their plan into action. When they discover the truth of why Ebony made that impossible decision six years ago, they become dangerously protective of her soon after, standing by her when she needs support and help from her inner demons. They're her saviours and her soulmates. The twins are messed up and unhinged, obsessive and methodical. I love how much they actually care for her in their individual ways even after so many years! Caleb is more on the brooding side and Cooper more laid-back, however, both have a crazy size! Ufff! Ebony is a feisty, funny, and complex character riddled with trauma.
That ending, though. Oh... my Lord. WHAT? The revenge is pure savagery, but it is so worth it in the end. Trust me. For me, the pacing didn't drag, and the world building was done just right, making it easy for me to imagine everything happening without hindrance. Throughout the book there are revelations and shocking twists, suspense and danger, betrayal and love, an intense sexual chemistry and exquisite spice, dark and devious cowboy MMCs and a bad-ass FMC, with a deliciously thrilling and darkly obsessive thriller romance - yes, quite a mouthful - then this one's for you.

This story is a dark romance with a twist of dark academia, mystery, and thriller. Set in a small UK town is a nail-biting, unsolved murder. There's also dark pasts and traumas needing to be confronting no matter how much our FMC, Ebony, tries to dodge them. There are just some things one can't escape. She finds herself having to move back to the same town where she grew up in an abusive foster care. She takes a chance to improve her life by accepting the scholarship at Hell's Haven University, only her past seems to be waiting eagerly to gobble her up deeper into Hell itself. Eventually, she encounters the Knox twins, Caleb and Cooper. Problem is that they're now out for revenge for her getting them imprisoned. Literally two shadows emerging lurking around to stalk her, watch her every move until they can put their plan into action. When they discover the truth of why Ebony made that impossible decision six years ago, they become dangerously protective of her soon after, standing by her when she needs support and help from her inner demons. They're her saviours and her soulmates. The twins are messed up and unhinged, obsessive and methodical. I love how much they actually care for her in their individual ways even after so many years! Caleb is more on the brooding side and Cooper more laid-back, however, both have a crazy size! Ufff! Ebony is a feisty, funny, and complex character riddled with trauma.
That ending, though. Oh... my Lord. WHAT? The revenge is pure savagery, but it is so worth it in the end. Trust me. For me, the pacing didn't drag, and the world building was done just right, making it easy for me to imagine everything happening without hindrance. Throughout the book there are revelations and shocking twists, suspense and danger, betrayal and love, an intense sexual chemistry and exquisite spice, dark and devious cowboy MMCs and a bad-ass FMC, with a deliciously thrilling and darkly obsessive thriller romance - yes, quite a mouthful - then this one's for you.

First of all, the cover of this one is absolutely fabulous!
The story within is a true dark delight.
The beginning of this one kept making references to a dark past, and I immediately wanted to know more. I love how Kermack is always able to hook me and pull me into her stories. There are always multiple layers and plenty to keep my attention from chapter to chapter.
As I continued to read, I saw more evidence of their twisted yearnings and darkened backgrounds. I was so eager to see these characters come together and share their truths.
Things got even more intense as I got deeper into their interactions. There were so many conflicting emotions, it really made me wonder what exactly would happen between these three tortured souls.
Their yearning was palpable. I was so on edge waiting to see these three collide once again.
I loved the spicy darkness of the carnival scene. All of the second guessing of herself that Ebony did afterward hit me in the feels. There was a depth of pain there that was crying out to be healed, and these two dark and dirty cowboys were the only people who could do what needed to be done for her.
The glimpses into the events of their shared past made clear so many of their present feelings and struggles.
The way that Ch. 36 ended was intense and OMG!! And things stayed heart-pounding from there as Caleb and Cooper made some terrifying revelations. I was on the edge of my seat, dying to know what would happen next.
OH WOW! Things got super dark and disturbed with a quickness. It was terrifying, but I couldn't look away. And then...another horrifying reveal!!! How would they get out of this?! And then Kermack hit me with yet another terrifying twist... WHY?! She pulled out all the stops for the ending of this one. Saying it was intense would be an understatement. The epilogues definitely made me feel better about all that Kermack had put me through with this one. She'll be forgiven...for now...

This book was amazing and I absolutely LOVED it!! Spice 4/5. Chemistry between the three MC's? 5/5 hands down!!
The book is a MFM dark romance that is SO twisted focusing on revenge, obsession, and love. It's a standalone in the Grimmville Series and the story itself takes place at Hell's Haven University. The main characters are Ebony(FMC) and the Knox brothers (Caleb and Cooper Knox).
Ebony is the FMC in the book who receives a scholarship to Hell's Haven where she is greeted not only by her new roommate, Megan, but also the news that a seriel k!ller is on the loose and k!dnapp!ng women who just happen to look like Ebony and Megan. Did I mention the k!let's signature is removing the he@ds of his victims?! Ebony has been running for years, never truly able to be herself, always watching her back with the guilt of what she did to the Knox brothers so long ago while never truly letting her love for them go.

Veiled Obsessions is a unique dark romance/mystery/thriller combining dark academia with confronting a dark past in a small town. The FMC, Ebony, is brought to an elite university through a scholarship, and to go there she must return to the town where she grew up in an abusive foster home. Returning to the town also means she runs into twin guys from her past, and they're out for revenge for her leading the police to them and getting them imprisoned.
The combination of plotlines was really interesting - particularly because the story is set in the UK, and Ebony's university is a blend of preppy academia and cowboy country. I would say the story leans more toward cowboys and less towards academia, but it's still solidly in between. The twin brothers aspect adds a little extra spice to the poly MMF dynamic, and it's interesting to see how Ebony and the boys are brought back together and drawn to each other. The spice is super hot, involving a bit of rope play and several different MMF scenes.
While I loved the story overall, there were a few points in which I wasn't entirely sure what was happening. I'm not sure if this is due to a very slight UK/US English language barrier - maybe I missed a term that means something different in British English. But these times weren't too distracting, and I still found the story unique and fascinating. Ebony's inner monologue and snarky nature add some humor to the story as well. I'd definitely recommend reading it!

Great book, filled with adrenaline from start to finish.
Ebony had already faced so much hardship prior to her return to the town where she spent her formative years and the university she was offered a scholarship at. Throughout the book we are shown little snippets of not only the FMC Ebony’s life but also Conner and Caleb the identical twins she had betrayed in the past. This allows us to form a much clearer picture of the depths of their bond between each other but it also the devastation her perceived betrayal left behind. I’ve got to say I absolutely demolished this in less than a couple of hours, it had everything, Action, heartache, revenge, betrayal, love, karma, murder, mystery and a cam girl slightly neurotic roommate who’s over the top, confident, bubbly and slightly crazy. Their friendship was absolutely a thing of beauty they were the ying to each others yang (platonically speaking) and their continuous banter added some much needed hilarity to an otherwise tense plot line. On top of that there is the super steamy, slightly kinky and love filled relationship between Ebony, Conner and Caleb what more could you want?
Will the twins ever be able to forgive Ebony for betraying them when they needed her the most? Will Megan continue to push Ebony outside of her comfort zones? Will they ever find out the identity of the Serial killer currently stalking the campus, bearing a disturbing resemblance to Ebony? And most importantly will Ebony be the meat in a Knox twin sandwich? You’ll have to read it to find out but be prepared to have your mind blown as there are more betrayals to come, and a plot twist that you’ll never see coming!

Wow, this book had it all! This twisted why choose dark romance was a roller-coaster I never wanted to end. I devoured this book. There was action, suspense, spice, mystery, and so much more. I loved the characters and their stories. Billie Jade Kermack is a new author to me and she hooked me right from the dedication. She has a way of captivating and pulling us into the story. Her attention to detail was fantastic. I had so much fun reading this book and was surprised by the villain that was revealed in the end. Check your TW.
Even though our FMC Ebony had a difficult childhood, to put it mildly, she's still a feisty fighter with dreams.
The level of obsession the two MMCs have has no limit. The Knox twin brothers Cooper and Caleb have known Enony since childhood and even after she betrayed them they want her still. They will do anything to find her, claim her, and make her pay. They won't let anything happen to her and will protect her against all other psychos.
They had some serious heat together, they just made sense together.
This is book three in the Grimmville series with crossover characters and can be read as a standalone.
I will be going back to read the rest of this series.

Oh this was dark, and some parts deliciously so! This is Book 3 in a series of interconnected standalones by Billie Jade set in her Grimmville universe.
For me, this was the darkest in the series, and that’s saying something as the whole series is. There are some pretty intense themes in this story which are set in the MFC and hinted at in the MMC pasts, so please check the trigger warnings.
Billie Jade brings to life the world of Hells Haven University and introduces us to Ebony our MFC, and to Caleb and Connor our MMCs. The story takes its time to set the scene, buts its needed, there is so much packed in that it’s absolutely thrilling.
I got pulled into the emotion of the book and felt all the angst, despair, guilt, loneliness, and longing alongside Ebony, Caleb, and Connor, then their relationship starts to take a turn and your cheering from the side lines (and getting a little bit under the collar while at it) as we see them work through their past. It was entertaining, had a few laugh out loud moments, lots of angst, intrigue and a boat load of suspense, and then that ending, I just did not see that coming! The ending was so Wbony and her boys, and it was beautiful. I highly recommend this one if you like your dark romance a little twisted.

Veiled Obsessions is a dark why choose romance.
This has quite a few dark moments. However, the twists and turns with this story were amazing. Figuring out who is behind the mask of the Horseman, as well as what the actual betrayal was that Ebony did to the brothers.
Ebony was able to hold her own for quite a bit. She has been through a lot in her past and knows how to fight her way out of things, but sometimes she needs a bit of help. Enter the brother who she betrayed in the past and caused them to be locked away for six years. Now they are back to get the answers and the revenge they want and need. Cooper and Caleb are hurt by what Ebony did to them, but once they all reconnect together, the heat is high. There are a lot of kinky and spicy moments between all of these characters.
It was a great read with big revelations that I wasn't expecting.

The Knox brothers are my type of unhinged cowboys I need in my life. Ebony is one lucky girl in the sense she found these 2 in the hell she had to deal with in her foster home. Her soul mates, her protectors, the ones that were there for her in her darkest moments and helped quiet the demons she was dealing with!! Even after 6 yrs. They may have been mad and thought it was hate but they were all hurt by what happened. They still loved each other and fought to protect one another!! I almost threw my phone when I was reading the ending because I didn't know if it was going to be an HEA. This book is dark and the sick and twisted ending was worth the read. Now I need to hear Megan's story!! Billie you did a great job. If you like a dark obsessive revenge thriller romance than this is for you. The spice cooks so perfectly!! I loved this book!! A MUST read!

This story is clever, spicy and dark. The interaction between the Knox brothers is funny and edgy. The FMC Ebony (their dove) is strong, brave and sexy. There are lots of plot twists encountered while the Knox twins seek revenge, Ebony seeks a new life and a serial killer known as the headless horseman seeks punishment on all three.
Standalone novel but leads into the next in the series 'Tainted Truths'. Definitely adding this and others by Billie Jade Kermack to my TBR.

Ebony has had a traumatic life she is trying so hard to find that normal happy life which we all want, but its never as easy as she thinks its going to be,
The Knox brothers are twins who were betrayed by the girl they loved, now they are out for revenge, will they get it though?
This book is full of twist and turns you will have theories of who and what is going to happen but you won't get it right till it smacks you in the face,
There's betrayal, revenge, spice and love but its never going to be easy or normal so strap in and enjoy the ride 😉

so deliciously spicy and sexy with the two brothers Caleb and Cooper....one is demanding and one is sweet ...Ebony is the definition of a bad @$$ FMC ... SHE has been through it all and has overcome it all.... the dark past coming back to kick her and her taking it all ... she is also so funny with her inner monologs... they were one of my favorite pieces of this story ... I was eating this book up ... I could not put it down .. it kept my attention from start to finish !!!! if you like dark taboo romance with suspense and twists and turns ... check this one out !!! I am so honored to have been able to be an early reader for this amazing book. one of the best reads of the year for me !!!!

These might well be my favourites, but don't tell Jax and Ezra. I fell in love with these gorgeous twins when I read a little snippet of their story in an anthology, but nothing prepared me for how obsessed I would become once I read their full story. The twists and turns in this story kept me on the edge of my seat, turning those pages until my eyes wouldn't focus properly at night. I didn't even see one of the twists coming, probably because the twins' pierced attributes blinded me, because damn, they are fine! I must also mention Ebony. She may well be one of my favourite FMCs; she's feisty, stabby, and so fiercely loyal that I may have fallen a bit in love with her too. I cannot shout about this one enough; you just need to read it.

This book was discovered unexpectedly and proved to be a pleasant read. It served as a refreshing interlude. While I appreciated the concept, I found it to be somewhat superficial. I wished for a deeper exploration of the relationships. Additionally, the narrative occasionally felt hurried. Nevertheless, the central idea was excellent, and I enjoyed the characters. I felt that Ebony faced continuous challenges. I also admired Megan's capacity to accept Ebony's circumstances. Caleb and Cooper, both let down by the adults in their lives, were compelled to forge a life with a missing element, which was Ebony. The book does touch upon difficult subjects.

I love a dark and spicy book where the female can hand you your @ss on a silver platter while you are searching for a come back. This book was very good and had a twist at the end that I never saw coming. The twins were of course hot, tattooed, and overly protective. Obviously with a feisty FMC and twin hot cowboys at her side, you are going to get some spice and fun along the way. The darkness, the spice, the mystery, and everything in between made this book very easy to read. The relationship with her roommate does overshadow the main story at times, but honestly she adds light to this dark story and I enjoyed every second of their interactions.

This book was something else! I was completely and utterly invested in the story of Ebony and the Knox brothers. I was hooked from the beginning, learning that there was a dark past and wanting to know more!
The story is very dark, and the knox brothers are super unhinged. The spice does not disappoint (I would recommend wearing a pantyliner🤣)!
The intwining storyline of the serial killer brings another level to the book. The twists of the ending are great, and I honestly had no clue it was coming!
If I could rate more than 5, I would!!

This started super strong, and the spicy was pretty good. Loved the friendship that Ebony created with her roommate.
To the point I think it pulled this story down a little, even tho It had a pretty interesting plot, I few times I felt lost in the timeline of the story, and I had to pay a lot of attention to figure out some of the jumps. Also, I feel like a few of the answers questions to about the plot were done a little rushed not creating a big impact.
Overall was a solid read, and I am definitely interesting in reading more books from this author.

I loved this! It's Ebony & her guys' story & it was awesome!! They've all known each other for a long time & there's a lot of history between them. A lot of things happen & she goes away for a while. When she comes back there's so much happening & she finds that other people are pulling strings to get her back there. Her past comes back with a vengeance, & the guys are looking for payback. Ebony has been through a lot of trauma & the guys have as well. Secrets come to light & questions are answered. I loved the story & the spice was fantastic!! Highly recommend this book & author!

Unexpected in a good way. Ebony was in the system after her parents died. She didn’t have a good home life even before going into the system. But she met Caleb and Cooper and they became her saving grace. She was offered a scholarship to this school but it took her back to the town she grew up in. She met her roommate Megan and they got along so quick. Ebony didn’t open up about her past and Megan didn’t press it. Ebony lost contact with the guys because of certain events. She didn’t know it but they kept a close eye on her. I loved this book.
