Following her best friend's passing, Chloe has been finding solace in the world through her VR headset, including going on virtual dates with the charming Blaine amongst the glittering skyline of Manhattan.
Everything seems to be perfect, except for the obvious, that Blaine is just an avatar she doesn't know in the real world. As their chemistry grows, offering Chloe the escape she has been seeking, Blaine throws out the idea that Chloe should go to New York to find him. But going to New York will open more than just a search for the mysterious Blaine, as the city holds old wounds too with Chloe's ex boyfriend Jimmy now living there. The memories of Jimmy, as well as of her friend Kerry, begin to come flooding back with each step closer Chloe takes toward New York City.
Deciding to go and find Blaine, Chloe finds herself reuniting with Jimmy and she is forced to ask herself the question of what it is that she really wants.
“I thought of the two women laughing at their brunch, and I thought of all the times I’d laughed like this. Lately, I’d wondered if I was going to laugh like this again, and yet here I was.
And just like that, my heart felt a little lighter.”
This was one of the loveliest, most heartfelt romances I’ve read in a long time, and my first by Anna Bell. While the circumstances that bring Chloe to New York are unconventional, her journey feels beautifully full circle as she slowly finds herself again in a city once tied to so much sadness.
At the centre, this is a tender romance about reconnecting with lost friends and learning how to open your heart again, but it also explores grief in a way that feels thoughtful, gentle, and deeply respectful. Anna Bell handles these heavier themes with so much tact and grace, my heart almost broke so many times, but it was worth it to see Chloe reconnect with her old self once again!
The ending was absolutely perfect, and I closed this book feeling the warmth in my heart. I truly loved every moment of it. Thank you so much to Bedford Square Publishers for sending me a copy!

After losing her best friend, Chloe escapes reality through virtual dates in Manhattan with Blaine, a man she’s never met in the real world. When their connection pushes her to travel to New York and find him, Chloe is forced to confront more than just a Metaverse romance, including unresolved grief and her past with her ex, Jimmy. As old memories come to light, Chloe must decide what she truly wants.
This review has me reflecting on how much of our lives are spent behind a screen! Virtually Yours is a thought-provoking look at connection in the digital age, showing a reality that many people are living today. I’m giving this a 4-star review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Review: I really liked this book. The author does a fantastic job of exploring why someone would want to live in the metaverse, and it feels incredibly relevant to what is happening to so many people in our current society. It raises some great questions about whether love can truly survive outside of a virtual setting. The Good: The social commentary is spot on. The way the virtual world is contrasted with the real world is compelling, and you can really empathize with the protagonist's desire to escape into a digital reality. The Not-So-Good: The pacing was a tad slow at times. While the internal exploration was interesting, there were moments where I felt the story could have moved a bit faster toward the real-world confrontation.
I wasnt expecting this to delve into more than just a case of You've Got Mail storyline, but I think it made this more than just another romance. The way Chloe wasn't dealing with everything, and how we were slowly told what happened because she refused to talk about it, felt true and I can imagine that happening to far more people than I'd like. Going on her journey through grief and finding herself again was an experience and really made me think. There were some big topics in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc!
This is not my first book from this author and it's definitely not my last! This was an interesting concept with VR and dating. I enjoyed it but it was a bit predictable. I did like that this book explores grief and the strength as well as courage it takes to put yourself out there even after loosing someone you love. It was a heartful and quick read.
Grief hits us in many ways and we all react in different ways, I got really into this story, and I just wanted for Cloe to Find closure. I loved the trip round all the places in New York as she looked for Blaine. I think Jimmy deserve 5stars for opening up his home to her. A story that touched me in many ways and one I may read again. Anna Bell never disappoints with her books
This book didn't go they way I thought or expected it to. Does staying connected to a loved one who has passed help you overcome grief? And what if you meet a virtual stranger you connect with? Do you forget your actual past physical connection with a person?
A poignant and heartfelt book about to opening yourself up again after losing your person. Chloe is a grieving heroine taking solace in a metaverse world. She will be frustrating but you totally understand why she does what she does. I loved that this story had a bit of a twist with the romance. It was clear there was a lot of love there but he was unable to reach Chloe who was struggling but in denial about how much help she needed.
I am a huge fan of Anna Bell books as they are just that little bit deeper than you expect and sometimes they really do pack a punch! Virtually yours deals with grief and and does it very well. Chloe loses her friend and is struggling with the loss and so she turns to virtual reality world to escape her own reality. She meets Blaine in the metaverse and she decides to go to New York to track him down, which was madness!
A great story written so beautifully, I will admit i was a wreck whilst reading some parts but i must say it came full circle and I was left feeling like Chloe worked though her grief and found herself
