Alright your favorite nightmare writing out a review (I’m never good at these but, I can tell you a good book so).

Anyways, I love discovering new authors while i’ve read one of cj riggs books this is my first go at a post-mortem read (shout out to him for sending me a copy of this to be one of the first few to read and review before it comes out)

This might be the first book i’ve read that has had an aspect of damn near every genre of book i’ve read and hold dear to me (a little touch of dark romance , a dabble of extreme horror , and so many other things in between). A solid 5 out of 5 stars for me I don’t want to put any spoilers in my review, I will say though pink human spaghetti will stick with me forever (was it the premise of the book? no. A random moment in the book that made me giggle? yes.)

WHAT I WILL SAY is if you like a little pleasure with your pain and a little fucked in your brain, you should pick this up when it comes out and give it a whirl 🫀.

There’s dark romance… and then there’s extreme dark romance, filled with gore, graphic scenes, and violence.

… and I was hooked from the very first chapter.

In this book, we follow a woman known by many names. Her story begins with horrific abuse at the hands of her father but fate sends her a savior who rescues her and raises her in an orphanage where she learns the dark arts.

But everything changes when the orphanage is raided and she’s left with no choice but to fight for her life, using her thirst for revenge as the fuel that keeps her going.

It’s not an easy fight. Even with all the skills she’s gained, she’s keeps getting caught… trapped… broken.
And when love comes knocking, it comes with a price.
This book is extremely graphic, deeply gruesome, and has scenes that are hard to stomach, but it also hits you emotionally.
Expect creatures, sorcery, creative kills, and completely unhinged characters.
The perfect formula to grab and never let go of your attention.

I want to give this 6 stars but I’ll settle for the 5 it allows.

I went into this somewhat blind but excited. I spent the entire book trying to decide what genre this really falls in. It was amazing the way both of the authors combined dark romance horror erotica splatterpunk and extreme horror. I could not put it down and devoured it.

The twists especially the one toward the end and the ending. Amazing. Beautiful. Depraved. Pitch black.

Dearest Darlings of Darkness,
Now, we know I am the embodiment of all things spooky. I thrive on gore, I breathe horror, and I sip the macabre like it’s my morning coffee. So, when two of my absolute favourite authors decided to conjure a book together, you know I was hopping on that witch hunt faster than a broom on a full moon. (Hehehe, see what I did there?)
Children of Cain rises from the wickedly brilliant minds of C.J. Riggs and Post Mortem—and let me tell you, these two don’t tiptoe around triggers. They kick the door down and invite you straight into the madness.
This story dares to ask: What if the witch wins? What if the woman gets her revenge? What if peace is found in the ashes? It’s a haunting, furious, and strangely beautiful tale that I devoured in one sitting. Gorgeously written, brutally executed, and dripping in dark magic.
I cannot wait to see what chaos these two conjure next.
Yours in madness,
E

Omg please tell me there is a part 2 to this book! I literally slammed my phone down when a certain person dies. I'm over here screaming no it has to be a dream, but sadly it wasn't. I absolutely love Lucius and Lanira their own story is amazing from beginning to end... especially the twist at the end!!! Loved it! You know who I didn't love the Priest!! What a surprise right lol but seriously fuck that dude and Luna too. How could you Luna how?!! Once again Post writes an amazing book that will definitely leave you wanting more.

“This is for the Children of Cain because we avenge without mercy and unprecedented darkness!

Firstly, this isn't dark romance. This is a paranormal horror filled with trauma and death - with a splash of smut thrown.

Just when you think you know whats going on, when you think you have some semblance of understanding, it switches.
Our FMC experiences the absolute worst that humanity has to offer. Every time we think she has found safety, we are wrong. Every time you think shes found some semblance of happiness, we are wrong.
I've read some of CJs work before and loved it but this is my first experience of Post and I am looking forward to reading more.

If you love blood, guts and gore with a side of witches and demons... then you should definitely give this a read!!!

This wasn't my usual read, but I absolutely love CJ and post Mortem is a new author which I cannot wait to explore more of their books! I found this book to be worth diving into! It's a dark, twisty tale filled with unhinged revenge that I can't even begin to describe! We follow Lanira, who takes it upon herself to right the wrongs done to her and her loved ones. Throughout the story, we see Lanira grow stronger and stronger, using her dark magic to navigate the challenges that come her way. Just be sure to check the trigger warnings; I highly recommend giving this one a read!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this book and saved it for Halloween night to get into the spooky spirit. I had just finished another book with an unhinged FMC, so diving into this one with another was a delight. As always, check the trigger warnings!

The story takes place around the time of the witch trials, so you think you know where it's going... but trust me, you don't. 😈 I spent every free moment I had with this book in my hands until I finished it.

AND THAT TWIST! If you love horror, this needs to be on your TBR.

What an opening chapter 🙌 This book had me hook, line, and sinker from the get-go.

The torture, abuse and loss suffered by Lanira is heartbreakingly horrific. Her hunger for vengeance drives her to the depths of darkness in a truly gruesome tale of unhinged sorcery with extreme graphic depictions.

This book is not for the faint-hearted so check those trigger warnings before you embark on this horror masterpiece 👌

My one mention about this book is level of detail put into the gore. Definitely talented in the extreme horror aspect. This is one of those reads you really have to read for yourself as I struggle with putting into words what you can expect with this one. I needed to process some of the plot.

I know I will be able to say more about this book in the future, but for now, after turning the last page, all I came here to say is that this is one of the most beautiful, most complex, most deeply engrossing stories I've ever read in my life.

Revenge has never cost so much.

Children of Cain by Post-Mortem and C.J.Riggs was mind blowing. It is so complex I don’t quite know what to say about it. This book showed the many forms of evil and causes of it at times. The absolutely unhinged revenge in this book was gloriously filled with feminine rage in its own way. All I can say is check your triggers, and I highly suggest this book!

I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was so brutal but so beautiful at the same time.
Happily got dragged into a world of pain vengeance and some mad twisted intimacy.

Definitely not for the faint hearted.
