Dating in New Orleans is my nightmare. I've had so many bad dates I’ve lost count. Then I meet a guy who’s gorgeous, charming, and kind of turns me on. He actually knows how to hold a conversation and is as sarcastic as I am.
After three great dates and a spectacular night in bed, I feel like I've found the perfect boyfriend. Until I catch him drinking someone in a dark alley.
Yeah. He was too good to be true. It's a nightmare.
Julian Deveraux is a vampire. Of course he is.
I didn't even believe vampires existed until now. And apparently, I’m not just any woman—my blood activated due to him, and it's rare, addictive, and dangerously powerful. Suddenly I’m the main course on every vampire’s menu, and Julian's trying to protect me… while hiding a few blood-soaked secrets of his own.
There’s some nasty vampires and witches, a secret experiment, and a whole underground world of creatures who'd rather see me caged than kissed. And then there’s the fae.
But I’ve got sarcasm, stilettos, and a survival instinct sharper than a vampire’s fangs. And maybe I have Julian. -- Set in the sultry streets of New Orleans, this modern urban vampire romantasy blends sizzling tension with supernatural intrigue, humor and sarcasm.Tropes include steamy strangers-to-lovers tension, forbidden magic, fated mates, found family, a sharp-witted heroine, seductive vampires, enigmatic fae, loyal shifters, powerful witches, and one unforgettable love story that defies fate. There's a cliffhanger at the end of this book.
If you loved TRUE BLOOD and TWILIGHT, you'll love this series.
This is the first book that I’ll have to put on my DNF list. I made it through chapter 36 of 43 (page 178 of 218), but it’s just not for me. I tried for several chapters to just keep going, there’s less than 40 pages left, but all the inconsistent character changes and single word adjective sentences become grating. Keep in mind, I read this book prior to final edits, so some things may change before the final release.
The beginning was catchy and some funny quips about Ava’s dating life, but I really couldn’t relate to the characters and started losing interest about halfway through. The story feels rushed without much character development or world building to really draw you into the book. All the major reveals happen in less than a week of the book timeline, from first date to having spicy sleep, they’re in love right away, boom, he’s a vampire, then there’s all these other types of immortals, but no one seems to care about those since the vampire reveal, then oh she’s a fae too, then she’s in major trouble from her past, and Julian will be the savior... it’s been like 5 days!! I feel like the mashup with vampires, fae, shifters, and witches in this book doesn’t flow very well. It feels like they were all just thrown in because the author couldn’t choose which one to write about, it probably would’ve worked better focused on one type and just really getting into character building or even building on Ava and Julian’s relationship first. Then leave a cliffhanger for the trouble and then maybe add other fantasy characters later on, especially in such a short book. The spicy scenes were good, but far too soon for my preference.

Ava falls for a vampire, only to discover she's not human but a fae with suppressed powers. Her memories have been tampered with, and she’s been the subject of cruel experiments. Now, everyone wants a piece of her—for her power, her secrets, or their own gain.
Book two picks up the pace and dives deeper into the evolving story. The stakes are higher, the world richer, and I definitely recommend continuing the series to see where it leads next!

The start of an exciting new Romantasy series starts off with Ava Winters, who is tired of the dating scene and being set up with strange men. When Julian Deveraux sends a text that he wants a date with her. Ava almost declines but goes along anyway because it really couldn’t get any worse. When Ava meets Julian, he seems almost too perfect. He’s a gentleman and loves Ava’s witty sarcasm. Also, Julian just understands her too. As Ava spends more and more time with Julian, she instantly falls for him, and he is with her. Ava knows that Julian holds secrets, but she yet goes out with him and, as she gets closer to him, she wants to be with him forever, but Julian holds a deep, dark secret that he’s a vampire. Julian not only craves Ava physically, but her blood drives him crazy. Will Ava discover the truth about Julian and the secret of who she really is as well? So, since I finished one series of Ms. Jade Christy about vampires. I really couldn’t stop and wanted to begin this one. This book is a little different from the Blackthorn Manor series because there are fae in it which, out of all the supernatural’s I love the fae the best! Now this book has some confusing bits because the fae aren’t really described very clearly, even though she drew up Ava quite well. Another minor character’s name changed from Alden to Arden, which I kind of overlooked, but still, as you were getting caught up in the story, it was a little discombobulating. Also, he’s a shape-shifter, so maybe with the name changing that is just part of his character too? Julian was a bit faultless, but when his senses started to wake up, I wondered if his craving for food and drink became more noticeable? So, I wanted a bit more explanation as to why it did it in the first place. Still, since this is part of a series, it ends abruptly, so, of course, I will read the next book just to see what happens and if the fae are defined a little better. Reviewed by Roslynn Ernst
Thank you to @JadeChristy3 the author, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Immortal’s Lie was such a fun and addicting book. I was hooked right from the opening line. Dating disasters, sharp sarcasm, and then, vampires, witches, shifters, and fae? Yes, please!
The FMC is instantly relatable. Smart, snarky, and just over it when it comes to men (understandable!). So when Julian shows up all charming and swoon-worthy, of course it’s too good to be true. And when she finds him drinking someone's blood in a dark alley? Let’s just say things get real interesting, real fast.
The chemistry between them is fire, and I loved how the romance was balanced with action, danger, and plenty of supernatural drama. The pacing kept me hooked, and I was totally into the moody, magical New Orleans setting, it added the perfect touch of mystery and atmosphere.
There’s a lot going on plot-wise (in a good way): fated mates, forbidden magic, found family, secret experiments, and some very cool world building. A few moments felt a little chaotic, but honestly, I was having such a good time I didn’t mind. The banter was great, the vibes were dark and sexy, and I loved how capable and self-aware the FMC was throughout.
And yes! heads up, there is a cliffhanger. But it’s the kind that leaves you itching for book two.
If you’re into steamy romantasy with a sassy FMC, a broody vampire, and a whole supernatural mess to untangle, definitely give this book a shot.
Jade Christy has written another enthralling book about a strong woman and the vampire who loves her. This time Julian is the dark and dangerous vamp and he falls for the spirited Ava, a modern day woman who loves sarcasm as much as he does. The two fall for one another and Julian finds himself dreading the moment he tells Ava what he really is. But it turns out there is far more awaiting Ava, including the revelation that she is part human and part fae. Oh, and another vampire wants to imprison her to acquire her blood, which was altered years ago to be used as a weapon. This is the first of a four book series, and “The Immortal’s Lie” introduces us to most of the major players, as well as the dangers that await Ava. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Ava and Julian, especially their sarcastic quips and banter. And I love that the characters fall for one another and aren’t afraid to declare their love. It’s that all-consuming love that drives the story. Things end on a cliffhanger, of course, with Julian desperate to be reunited with his Ava. And me desperate to find out what happens next. Recommended.

Who doesn’t like a good vampire story. Now add shape shifters, human hybrids, witches and humans to the mix in New Orleans no less . This give you a great beginning of a whirlwind storyline. Blooming love between a vampire , Julian and Ava a fae, human hybrid . She was an experiment of an evil vampire that made her blood more powerful and dangerous because of the addictive effects. This book is fast paced for all the discoveries that Ava has to face since she thought she was human . It is a very powerful love story for Ava and Julian. Everyone wants to control Ava even her own aunt. Ava is taken against her will to faedom. This ending give me so many questions about what will happen to Ava in the land of faedom and who will Julian find her.

Ava is tired of dating. The men she dated were all zeros. She used a dating app, and found Julian. He was everything she wanted in a man-- intelligent, handsome, worldly, and funny. Ave is wary, waiting for the shoe to drop. Julian has secrets, and plans to tell Ava the truth. He does not want to scare her. Julian knows she is special. He is able to smell, and taste food again. He has not felt this way in centuries. Once Ava knows he is a vampire, will she accept him? The storyline flowed well. The characters were realistic, and likeable. This book is intriguing, and mysterious. I loved reading this book!!!!.

BInitially this book pulled me in quickly. The writing was great and I genuinely wanted to know what was going to happen. Ava's love life could be a podcast about bad dating but all that changes when she meets Julian. He's a vampire and she's seemingly human. So far so good right? This is where the story started to grate a bit. The flowery prose between them, the texts and communication. I found myself skipping pages to get thru that part and back to the actual story. It was just a but too much. The story also does the thing where we see Julian's perspective then Ava's. It's certainly a different POV from each but again, I just want to continue the story, not re-hash the thing that just happened. So once the plot kept progressing I did enjoy it. The cliffhanger...not so much
This is my first book by Jade and I will definitely be reading more of her books. This book is very well written. It grabbed my attention from the very first page. It's so beautifully written I felt like I was right there in the story. The characters are charming and witty making me laugh a lot. It's suspenseful with all the secrets that are slowly revealed. Ava discovers that she is more than she ever thought she was. And now everyone is trying to keep her safe from the evil that wants to exploit her for their own power. The romance between Ava and Julian is a bond like no other. I highly recommend this book. Fae, Vampires, Witches and old magic. It's a must read
The storyline is great, very intriguing. I wanted to like it more than I did, though. It breaks my heart to leave reviews like this because this is someone's passion and art, but this just didn't do it for me. The writing style was interesting but not enough. There was no depth to the characters, no inferring, no discovery... everything was just presented to us which made it boring. The worst part was when the POVs would just change in the middle of a chapter. It was sloppy and disappointing. If you want an easy, quick read, this is the book for you. Like I said, the story is good, but the execution isn't the best.
This is a very interesting book. Vampires experimenting on Fae and human children. I love how we have a lot of paranormal beings in here, with a legend that is ;ike a prophecy that will be fulfilled. It sounds like Julian and Ava are fated mates since they were drawn together. It ends in a cliffhanger that makes you want to keep reading just to find out what is going to happen next. It will be interesting to see if a Fae and a Vampire gets together and has a happy ending in the end.
Absolutely loved! This book is very well written and grabbed my attention from the very first page. I absolutely felt like I was in the story. The characters are lovable and completely unforgettable. A suspenseful story with all the secrets that are revealed slowly. With character Ava discovering that she is more than she ever thought. The romance between Ava and Julian is *chefs kiss* I highly recommend this book. A must read!
The book has some wit. It's an easy read. Ava falls for a vampire and then finds out she is fae not human, who has had her powers suppressed and been experimented on and made to forget. Now everyone is after her, to use her. Definitely have to read the next book to find out what happens. Just finished book 2, the pace picks up, the story evolves much more, I encourage you to continue the series.

Ava is human and Fae, meets Julian a Vampire, the two do hit it off and of course their are those that have their own agendas. This is a story that drew me in and had me cheering Ava and Julian. There are some twists, but the story is awesome. I am waiting at the cliff, for book two! I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!! No Blurb Repeats!.

This series started off with a revelation of species and a very steamy moment between Julian and Ava. It was an interesting start, and the world building was a great way to bring this story into the light. I could not get enough and the cliffhanger was a great way to taunt more to come.

This was a fun urban fantasy with vampires, fae, witches, and shifters. I loved the witty, flirty banter between Ava and Julian and the sarcastic humor between each of their inner circle friend groups. This is the first book in the series which ends with a cliffhanger, so I’m jumping right into the next one.
This is a pretty good start to a new 4 book series. Ava and Julian meet through a dating app and hits it off right away. The more entwined they get, the more of their secrets get revealed. It was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

This was my first book in quite a long time that featured vampires and fae. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this, but I did. She falls for a vampire and discovers she is fae. Trouble is coming soon, and well, you'll just have to read this! Trust me, it was good; I read it in one sitting. This is also the first book I have ever read by Jade Christy.
I truly despise those! However, this book is beautifully and elegantly written. I’m definitely interested in the main characters. I’ve got mixed feelings about the plot and I’m not sure if I’ll go directly to the next book or if I’ll read something lighter to take a break in between. I do intend to finish the series.
This is so good. I was hooked immediately. I love Ava and her friends. They are the kind of people I'd want to be around. Julian seems amazing and like he'd destroy the world to keep Ava safe. This major cliffhanger is killing me. I have to start the next book!
A good intriguing beginning to a fantasy romance with vampires, witches and fae. Ava and Juilian are good characters. Enjoy reading looking forward to the next. Voluntary reviewed.
I so loved this storyline. Absolutely the best of both Worlds, the fae and Vampires. I very much liked how the author did points of view from each character in real time. It made for an Amazing read. I'm ready for book #2 !!!!
It took me a while to read this book. I got bored in the middle and stopped reading, then when I decided to finish it, it ends in a “cliffhanger.” Boring. Oh well. Won’t finish the series.
Ava is haunting. I love her wit, the banter and Julien is the same. This story ended with us knowing that she is okay, for now. I am looking forward to the second story, please don’t end it on a cliffhanger, I hate those.
