Crush #3

Just a Little Kiss

Rate this book
In the sizzling new novel of Renita Pizzitola’s Crush series, Felicity knows that “Summer Boys” are only good for one thing. But what if hooking up with the right guy could lead to a fresh start?

Like most of the residents of her dead-end beach town, Felicity Daniels doesn’t know what she wants from her future. Instead of college, she’s waiting tables at the local grille where she’s more likely to run into the guy who was the love of her life—until one decision changed everything. Now as this year’s tourist season kicks in to high gear, Felicity realizes that whatever she wants isn't going to be found here.

Mason Hayes is the quintessential Summer Boy: hot, impulsive, and born without strings attached. While in town helping with the family fishing charter, he plans to have a little fun—and hopefully get over a certain girl. He’s never had a long-term relationship, but when he meets Felicity, he wonders if he’s found the girl who could change that.

With her heart still in repair, Felicity’s happy to have a distraction like Mason, but her best friend thinks he could also be her ticket out of this town. What’s the harm in using him to escape more than just her boredom? After all, he is just a Summer Boy, and they never stick around. But after one kiss, Felicity wonders if only one summer with Mason will ever really be enough.

Sweet new adult series : This is the third book in Ms. Pizzitola’s Crush series and focuses on Mason, Brinley’s (the heroine from Just a Little Crush) BFF. He’s getting over his own crush on Brinley, so he volunteers to go to Port Lucia and work for his uncle’s fishing boat service for the summer. There he meets Felicity, a waitress in the small town who’s good friends with his cousins. Sparks fly and what starts as a summer fling turns into full blown romance happening...after a few obstacles, of course.

Ms. Pizzitola’s writing has appealed to me and I love how her little ‘verse has grown book by book. Mason’s cousins deserves some love of their own, and I sincerely hope we’re getting a book for Isla (Felicity’s BFF) and Colby (Mason’s cousin). Besides the fact that Isla’s Latina, I loved the little scenes with her grandmother. Felicity may want to escape, but I liked visiting Port Lucia.

Soft spot for Mason : Now Mason was the sweet best friend for Brinley, the guy who didn’t get the girl, but to be fair, he was never really in the running. I like the fact that Mason realizes that quickly and bonus, can tell the difference between a crush and love when he sees Felicity. I’ve wanted to see him get his own love, and while she has her issues, I think they do work well together, and their banter about their “old married couple status,” from the very beginning really establishes their connection. He’s a stand up guy, knowing that to care for Felicity he doesn’t have to protect her from the world. She’s capable of standing on her own. Speaking of...

Felicity loves her Summer Boys : Felicity prefers to hook up (not all the way, just fooling around) with Summer Boys because it’s simple, fun and best of all, over once they leave town. She’s already had a serious relationship that went wrong, and she wants no more of that, thank you very much. Unfortunately, Port Lucia is a small town and it seems like all the guys are determined to protect her whether she wants them to or not. Felicity When she sees Mason, she realizes how well they click, and it’s great...

Until it freaks her out : When I read the first two books, for some reason Mason’s friends felt older than nineteen. Here, I really noticed it. Felicity isn’t that far out of high school, and alot of her anxiety felt as if it stemmed from her age and life experience. She’s determined to control her life and wants to change, but is paralyzed by the thought of it as well. She’s contradictory and frustrating at times, but she has some measure of self-awareness and when she screws up she does stand up.

Plus, she’s not the only one to screw up, since Mason has his own moment. Like I said, it felt like their age and maturity level played a part in the conflict. It made sense and they acted age appropriate. That may or may not be your cuppa, but Ms. Pizzitola made it work for me.

I’ve enjoyed Ms. Pizzitola’s Crush series and Mason could be my fave hero. Felicity and Mason are the on younger side of new adult, so I’d recommend for fans of young/new adult romances.

Just a little kiss
okay so I more than likes this one. it may actually be the best of the series for me

4 more than like you stars

this one is just AMAZING . so my review may up itself in rating while I digest this super sweet more than summer romance book its much deeper than that
I happened upon this Crush trilogy by accident on Netgalley
Each book is set up like a standalone but better if you follow the story
I love that it is truly an NA and not a YA flirting with the idea of NA
If you have followed the story this is what happens when Felicity breaks up with her boyfriend after he has a kid with another woman (during their break ) And she is lost and trying to find herself in a town that thinks Felicity and Brody will never be the past and will never let her let that go.
I wasn’t in love with Brody anymore, that much I knew. Of course, it took me almost a year to figure that out, but it finally hit me one day. Couldn’t be currently in love with something that no longer existed. Life wasn’t meant to towkr thatway. If I still loved anything, it was the memory of him. The relationship wed once had. But it was no longer him. I hadn’t spoken to him in over a year. Whose to say he hadn’t change. But it was no longer him. And I would like to belive he felt the same way. I wanted brody to move on, not just physically, but mentally. I needed him to.
Mason is related to Colby who is Brody’s best friend and is interested in Felicity and what starts as summer fun turns into something much deeper and diferent than expected
How many rules do you have for yourself. Does it make life less scary that way?
Felcity doesn’t want to do relationships because she cant trust herself
Move one. Please. Move on …with me
Mason turns out to be an outstanding male role where he doesn’t know how to do relationships but he wants one. And more than anything he wants Felicity
and there it was. I was wrapped up in the fear of losing her, while she was wrapped up in the fear of losing herself. But how in the world did we meet me in the middle?

I think the next book will be Isla’s.. shes going to be a firecracker!
I think the author is truly getting more comfortable with writing and her characters because truly I did not want to give this one a chance and now I am glad I did and I will keep giving her chances because the writing is coming out more relatable and real and opposed to forced.

I became a fan of Renita Pizzitola's writing after reading (and loving) Just a Little Crush last year. The second book in this companion series, Just a Little Flirt, solidified that. And now, with Just a Little Kiss, I'm convinced that Pizzitola Just Can't Miss. :)

At 19, Felicity feels like her life is stalled in her small hometown. She yearns for more and is also desperate to escape the inevitable run-in's with her ex. But change doesn't come easy for Felicity. To avoid messy entanglements she keeps things simple: no life-altering decisions and definitely no relationships. When it comes to guys she sticks to the summer boys who are temporary distractions. But what if there is more out there for her, beyond her small town?

Just because I was interested in Mason, didn't mean I had to lose myself in the process. The rules were in place for a reason. To keep myself from getting hurt and avoid hurting others in the process. Keep things light, simple, fun.

Mason is in town for the summer, helping his uncle on his charter boat. It's just the distraction he needs from his own life. Getting over his unrequited love for best friend Brinley hasn't been easy but he's ready to move on. Meeting Felicity has him considering that a summer fling just might be the real thing.

"If you think you're going to be able to hide behind some ridiculous rules you have for yourself and never plan to let go, then this is probably a waste of our time." My lips returned to her jaw as I slowly made my way to her ear, and my free hand lowered down her thigh. "Because if there's one thing I can promise you, it's that you're about to lose all control."

I loved watching the relationship between Felicity and Mason unfold. They both had been hurt in the past but one was willing to take a chance while the other was determined to avoid another possible heartbreak. I loved as they slowly found their way and navigated this new relationship. It was easy to pull for Felicity and hope for so much more for her. And Mason was completely charming and so patient with Felicity and her doubts and fears. I mentioned in review of the two previous books in the series how gifted Pizzitola is with dialogue and it's still evident here. I loved the banter between Mason and Felicity and the way they used humor to lighten a mood or get to know each other better. I was truly pulling for these two and their road was not without its bumps along the way. They both made mistakes and seeing them each hurt because of it was heart breaking. Mason and Felicity and their story felt completely realistic and I loved every minute of it.

But what I never expected to happen while running away from my problems, was finding my solution. My answer. My Felicity. Because I knew, hands down, without question that there was no one in this world more perfect for me than this girl right here.

Pizzitola writes that kind of New Adult that I love. Characters that are never cookie cutter, story lines that are completely believable without unnecessary drama, and sweet/swoony romance. She strikes the perfect balance between character development, plot and romance. I hope this series continues because as long as Renita keeps writing it I'll keep reading it.

Just a Little Kiss is the third in the Crush companion series but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Mason thought he was in love with his best friend, Brinley. When Brinley fell in love with her boyfriend, Mason had a hard time and felt like he was loosing her so he took a summer job with his uncle on his fishing boat, He wanted to get away from everything. Felicity has lived in the same beach town her whole life. She waits tables and lives on her parents broken down boat. She wants more out of life and knows she's not going to get it living there but she doesn't know how to make that happen. Felicity had her heart broken and doesn't want it to happen again so she prefers Summer Boys - those guys who come to town just for the summer for a little fun, no commitments and are not permanent. That works for her until Mason comes to town and what starts as a summer fling, quickly turns into more.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a lot more angsty than I was expecting and there were a few times I wanted to smack Mason and Felicity but this was so good! These characters had fantastic chemistry from the first moment they meet and there is a lot of sexual tension. This book was super hot with lots of steamy scenes. I really liked these characters and hope that this series is going to continue with Mason's cousins - would love Owen or Colby's stories!

Just A Little Kiss is the third Renita Pizzitola book I’ve read, having read the first two books in the Crush Series: Just A Little Crush and Just A Little Flirt. I loved the first two books in the series, and part of me expected my luck would change. That I’d go into Just A Little Kiss and find it didn’t hold up against the first two books.

I was wrong.

I loved Just A Little Kiss. Of the three books it was easily my favorite.

I’m not a big fan of recapping plots of the books I read (I know, I know, I say this in every review), so I’m not going to give a whole lot of detail on the storyline other than: It was good. Really, really good.

Readers of the series will know Mason from Brinley’s story. He’s all kinds of screwed up. After all, he’s just watched his best friend and crush fall in love with another guy. So he skips town for the summer to help put Brinley out of his mind and move on. Enter Felicity. And when it comes to the screwed-up scale, she’s right up there with Mason. Neither of them expected to fall in love—and, that’s what made their story great. Although, I will admit to squeezing my Kindle a little too hard because one or the other was always getting on my nerves. But that was great too.

Character development was awesome. I admit, I’m always worried that an author will fall back on what’s comfortable when it comes to character development. I mean, it takes work, knowing your story, and getting into the heads of your characters to write them properly. Anyone can write the same character over and over, book after book. And I was pleasantly surprised (although, not really, because I already knew Renita Pizzitola was a talented author) that the characters in not only this book, but all three in the series, had different personalities, traits, and issues. I really liked that the author wrote a male character that wasn’t an ass. It was refreshing to read about a nice guy. Well, two nice characters, really. But not overly sweet… just real.

And sexual tension. Whoa. Off the charts. Mason will make you melt with his sexy smirks and his famous line: Get comfortable because I’m going to be here for a while.

It’s a sweet romance that focuses on hope and love and moving unafraid into the futures, regardless of what happened in your past. But don’t think it’s all gumdrops and sunshine. There are two very big communication break downs that the couple have to get over in order to reach the HEA they deserve.

So, here’s my take. Writing style: can’t go wrong with a Renita Pizzitola book. Character development: Great! Although, I will admit I connected with Mason a tad more than Felicity, but I still enjoyed her character when she wasn’t too inside her head. Pace: a few little hiccups for me here, but not enough to knock a star off my rating. Storyline/plot: Loved it. The author didn’t fall back on overly done plot lines or try to hid a bad plot beneath a mountain of sex (although, trust me, you won’t lack for sexual heat between the characters).

My Bottom Line: Loved it. Loved Mason even more now than in the first book. Renita Pizzitola has solidified her spot on my bookcase. I’m not sure if there is another book scheduled in this series, but I hope so. But, if not, no worries. I’ll read just about anything with her name on it.

Having read both of the books in the Crush series before this I was eager to get my hands on Just a Little Kiss which is the third book in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books and was anxious to see where Mason's story would go.

For people who have not read Just A Little Crush and Just a Little Flirt, the first books tells Brinley's story and the second one tells her roommate Fallon's story. In Just A Little Kiss we get to read Mason's story who is Brinley's best friend. The books do not have to be read in order. Each one can be read as a stand alone but in my opinion I would read them all because the characters are fabulous.

I was hooked right away with this story. I remembered really liking Mason and in fact mentioned that in my review for the first book. Yes I liked him but I absolutely LOVED him in this book. He was completely swoon worthy and I'm pretty sure he may even be short listed for the book boyfriend category that I keep in my head! His demeanour and sensitivity with Felicity was pretty incredible and the hopeless romantic in me was loving every minute of their attraction and restlessly anticipating the moment they would throw caution to the wind and give in to their desires.

As with any new adult book, it wouldn't be complete without the hot and sexy factor. Pizzitola delivers on that front but what I actually enjoyed most was the chemistry and interactions outside of the bedroom. There was something about the attraction and build up of Mason and Felicity's relationship that I was drawn to. Just like Felicity was anticipating the first kiss with Mason, so was I. I might have even gotten a little teary eyed a couple of times. Sigh...

This book was about letting people in, moving on, letting down your guard and learning from your mistakes. It was about two people trying to overcome fears and insecurities in an effort to come together. It is filled with complications and obstacles that challenge Mason and Felicity every step of the way.

Usually by the time I get to the third book in a series I find that my interest dwindles and the stories get monotonous. This is absolutely NOT the case with this series. I have enjoyed each one equally for different reasons. The characters that Pizzitola creates have something to do with it I think. They are all so different but interesting at the same time. This was another job well done! I loved every minute of it!

I sense a great story with Isla. Is it possible we will get to read her story next??

It’s Mason’s book!

description

Mason thought he was in love with Brinley, thinking that his heart was broken, he went to work for his uncle and cousins in the family fishing charter for the summer. He wants to have some fun, and perhaps found someone to med his broken heart. You can’t help but love Mason, I adored him ever since, and I was glad that he was finally going to have his happy ending. I admire his patience and tenacity to stand by Felicity. Because being with this girl was a piece of work, a really piece of work (but proved to be worth it). But his patience has also some limits, and when it did – ah, it was something else. Something I never thought he was capable of.

Heartbreak caused Felicity to build some walls around her heart to protect it. From then on, she just placed some silly rules that only summer boys are allowed in her life. They’re predictable, and there was no way she was going to fall in love with someone in a short amount of time. Her rules kept her life stable. At first, I thought Felicity was not good for Mason. I mean, all she wants was her summer fling. She was a lost soul who didn’t know what to do with her life. She didn’t want any help from anyone around her – and that was the most frustrating thing of all. Nevertheless our heroine does have some redeeming qualities.

The chemistry was obviously there – it was off the charts. The sexual tension was just overwhelming as much as the emotions that were all over the page, how can they be together with that kind of stubbornness?

Well, if Felicity is a runner, Mason knows how to chase someone relentlessly. It took a lot of running, road bumps and twists and turns, but it ended up pretty well. This is the third book in the series that just got hotter and better, with a lot of feels. Good thing they can be read as stand alone, with relatable characters that will surely win your hearts.

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Renita Pizzitola's books. I loved Just a Little Crush, the first book in the Crush series, which followed Brinley and Ryder. I equally loved Just a Little Flirt, the second book, which featured Brinley's roommate, Fallon. And I have to admit, when Just a Little Kiss showed up on Netgalley, I may have squealed a bit (just a bit) with delight that it was all about Brinley's best friend, Mason. I always liked Mason. And after reading this book, I like him so much more.

Mason's always been a bit in love with Brinley. It's no secret. But Brinley is with Ryder, and they're happy. Mason doesn't think he'll ever get over her without some space, so he agrees to help out his uncle by doing manual labor -- on a fishing boat, no less -- all summer. Mason soon finds that the ocean doesn't agree with him, but his cute new neighbor, Felicity, sure does. It doesn't hurt that she gives him some of her family's super-secret seasickness remedy, either. It's not long before Mason is head-over-heels for Felicity, and while Felicity sure likes him, he's not sure he'll ever break through the walls she's built around her heart.

Just a Little Kiss was a contender for my favorite book in the series until, near the end, Felicity and Mason had yet another unnecessary misunderstanding. You see, their relationship is really cute and really great until one of them does something that the other misconstrues, and then they have a huge fight and refuse to speak to each other. Which, honestly, is probably realistic. But it was so frustrating, because they're clearly meant for each other, they're just really stubborn and proud. The angst was a little over-the-top for me at the end, but I have a pretty low tolerance for it anyway. Someone who's really into angsty romances would probably love it. The ending, though, was really cute, and probably the best ending so far in the series.

Just a Little Kiss is a very cute, very fluffy, very quick read that I would highly recommend -- just as I would highly recommend all the books in this series. I'm not sure if there will be another book coming up, but if there is, I really hope it follows Felicity's best friend, Isla. I loved her character and hope to see more of her!

This is the third installment in the Crush series. Do you need to read all three to understand what is going on in this book, no, but you will be missing some great back story and you will understand Mason even better. However this story can be read as a stand alone if you so desire.

We met Mason in Just A Little Crush, he was the best friend of the female main character. I really felt for Mason in the first book and I was thrilled to see he was getting his own story.

Mason has had to adjust to his best friend, the girl he believed he was in love with, finding another. Mason needs to get away for a bit so when the chance to go to the beach and work for his uncles fishing boat he jumps at it. The last thing he expected was for it to be so hard and for him to get so sea sick. However then he sees Felicity and she saves him from her sickness. There is just something about Felicity that is different, something Mason wants to learn more about.

Felicity Daniels doesn’t know what she wants from her future or what is in store but she knows that she is stuck. Stuck in a job with no future, living in a town with her ex and his new family, and surrounded by friends who still treat her like her ex's property. Felicity wants to move on but there is something holding her back, fear. Felicity made a choice in the past, one she thought was for all the right reasons, but it sent her life and that of her ex on a course she never saw coming.

Felicity sees Mason as a possible distraction for the summer, but is doesn't take her long to realize that Mason won't fit into any molds she has put him in.

I really like this series, I really enjoy Renita Pizzitola's writing. She does such a great job with character development that you can't help but to feel everything they feel. As the story progresses I really felt for Felicity in how she has to deal and get over her past as well as dealing with her anxiety and fear and taking a chance on Mason. It isn't all sweet sailing. There are miscommunications that lead to drama but luckily it is nothing too drawn out and angsty. This is just a really good read.

Big thanks to Flirt Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC copy for review.

I have been eagerly awaiting for Mason's book. I have always had a soft spot for him and was so thrilled that he was finally getting his book because I wanted to see him happy. Renita definitely made this story well worth it. Mason and Felicity's journey was one filled with summer fun, romance and misunderstandings, but also about taking chances and following your dreams and your heart.

I really liked Felicity. She was loyal, selfless, and caring. She has aspirations for herself, but she's hesitant to go forward with them. She just needed a little motivation from someone she never saw coming, Mason. Yes, wonderful Mason, who is handsome, sweet, sincere, honest and completely devoted to Felicity. This's guy is a close second after Cade Ryan.

The chemistry between Mason and Felicity was instant, but the relationship was gradual and I liked that. There were a few frustrating moments when I wanted to shake them both, but the road to love can be a bumpy one. The intimate scenes were perfectly steamy and tastefully done.

"I slowly let my gaze travel down then focus on where our bodies connected. Not sure how much longer I could bear the torture, I held my breath and watched as slid in and out of me." ~ Felicity

Renita can write some damn good love scene alright. There was also brief appearances from Fallon, Brinley and Ryder, who I enjoyed seeing again. And while things got a little scrambled with couple at times the ending definitely made up for it and I couldn't be happier.

"But what I never excepted to happen while running away from my problems, was finding my solution. My answer. My Felicity. Because I knew, hands down, without question that there was no one in this world more perfect for me than this girl right here." ~ Mason

Felicity is stuck in her little fishing town and dealing with the hangover of a relationship that went bad. Thinking she was doing what was best for the one she loved, mistakes happened and lives were forever changed. Dealing with that guilt she only allows herself the pleasure of her summer boys, those who come to town but will be going. No commitments or lives to ruin.

Mason needed to get away from the front row seats he had to Brinley and Ryder's love story. We met Mason in the first book in this series by Pizzitola and I was so glad he was going to get his story. Initially thinking he was up for a little fun this summer he is looking forward to getting to know Felicity more, if he can get that idea passed his cousin who seems a little too protective of Felicity.

Before long, the attraction between the two is something neither can overlook and despite reservations on Felicity's part the two start spending all their time together. Along the way there are two really big misunderstandings which threaten to sink this relationship before it really gets going. I have to give mad props to Pizzitola for creating a pit in the stomach type feeling with the first misunderstanding. My heart felt like it was breaking and I really didn't see how this was gonna be fixed. Let me tell you, I never saw it coming and I loved how everything works itself out.

I really loved Mason as a hero and Felicity is good enough as a heroine but I didn't love her. Now her best friend Isla is someone I think I could really like and I hope her and Colby get a book. Overall, like the other books in this series this is a sweet read which was totally enjoyable.

Now in all honesty after the first two books I wasn't so sure that I liked Mason. This book definitely changed my opinion though. I can say without pause or hesitation that Mason is my favorite part of this book from start to finish. His character brought the humor, sincerity, romantic gestures that I didn't even see coming, and maybe cause I wasn't comparing him to Ryder for the first time- he brought the sexy.
I went from not sure if I liked him to kinda sorta definitely loving him.

There was only one thing that kept this from being a four star book for me. Unfortunately it was kind of a biggie... Felicity.
Getting to know her situation made me feel for her. She's recovering from a broken heart, which is hard to do in a town full of people who all seem to know her business or make it their business to "protect" her. She knows she doesn't want to stay there forever, she knows she wants more... but that's where her certainty kind of ends. As much as I felt for her situation, her character did a little too much wishy-washy wobbling for my liking.

Beyond Mason, I really enjoyed the background story between the secondary characters. At the end I wished we'd gotten something (a sign of resolution, closure...hope for progression) more about them. Isla seems to be the friend we all love to have and I wanted more of her. Then there's Mason's cousin Colby who gave me the impression that his story had a lot more going on then we got to see. I'm not sure if there's another coming story in this series but I'd love to see it focus on them.

All in all, it was a fun read and I gave it 3.5 stars!

WE FINALLY GET MASON'S STORY!!! AAAHHH!!

 photo tumblr_mrcj0gA6941ssmh0so1_500_zpsxhlp18ld.gif

And it was as amazing as I hoped it would be.

I loved the slow development of Mason and Felicity's relationship. Even though Felicity was kind of annoying at times, she was just so stubborn about doing everything all on her own. I think that all of the problems that they faced were pretty realistic, no crazy exes, no murder plots or schemes. And even though I was annoyed with Felicity being so stubborn, it was hard not to be proud of her because she did learn to make it on her own.

I always like a good, slightly cliche book with a HEA, but the author made this one feel like a new perspective somehow. I think that if you do read this book, make sure you read the others in the series first, it just makes more sense, there would have been a bunch of missed details had I not read the previous ones. I don't know if there will be any more additions to this series, but I will be more than willing to read them if it happens!

Review by Nicole Lorenzo

Felicity Daniels feels trapped in her small little beach town. She is surrounded by memories of better days and the life she could have had with her ex-boyfriend. She waits tables, lives in her boat house and has no idea where her life is headed. Afraid of getting hurt again, Felicity has rules set in place to keep the little control she has over her life firmly intact. She refuses to fall in love again, instead spending her time with “Summer Boys”. Summer Boys make for the perfect fling, coming just for the summer and gone again in a few weeks or less. It’s the perfect fool proof plan to guard her heart until Mason Hayes shows up. Mason is here for the summer working for his Uncle’s fishing Charter and happens to be her new neighbor. Felicity notices the chemistry between them immediately and welcomes the possibility of Mason becoming her next “Summer Boy.”

“….I don’t know what it was about Mason but something told me he was the kind of guy girls could get attached to. Which was rule number one: Never fall for a Summer Boy.”

Mason thought getting away for the summer would help him move on from the girl he thought he loved. Helping on his Uncle’s fishing boat and spending the summer with his cousins seemed like the perfect plan. The deal is sweetened when he meets Felicity who is living on the boat next door. Their attraction is immediate and Mason knows at once that he wants to get to know her but he finds he has a few obstacles in his way. For one thing his cousin’s are fiercely protective of her, and pretty much tell him that she is off limits to him. Another is Felicity herself, she has walls built so high that he questions whether she’s even interested in him at all. Mason is determined though and when he gets the confirmation he needs he is settled on breaking down Felicity’s walls so he can show her how good they can be together.

“You aren’t off limits, Felicity. But you definitely push me to mine.”

After a lot of convincing and wavering Felicity finds herself in a relationship with Mason. Something she swore she would never do. She couldn’t seem to help herself though and things with Mason are better than she could have ever expected. She still has her rules in place and Mason is ever patient when it comes to her insecurities and fear of the unknown. Felicity is holding back in the relationship, scared of the inevitable, when Mason leaves when summer ends. Mason tries to convince her that it doesn’t have to be that simple. He also tries to show her that she is worth more than what she values herself as. But Felicity’s fear and anxieties get the best of her and she questions time and time again whether or not she is crazy for pursuing a relationship with Mason when she is convinced it will end. Mason knows his future is with Felicity, the problem is convincing her of that.

“I have no f*cking clue where we’ll be tomorrow, yet here I am, reaching out, taking whatever I can get, minute-by-f*cking-minute, knowing it’ll never be enough, yet happy to get anything at all.”

With Mason’s help, Felicity finds that she may have a way to pursue her dreams after all and get out of this town. She lets her guard down with Mason, finally trusting that things can work with them. She pushes her fears aside and decides to strive for her goals. The road ahead of her is not going to be bump free though, and Mason and Felicity’s relationship will be tested more than once on this journey for their happily ever after.

"But what I never expected to happen while running away from my problems, was finding my solution. My answer. My Felicity. Because I knew, hands down, without question that there was no one in this world more perfect for me than this girl right here."

Just A Little Kiss is the third book in the Crush series. I really liked the first two books and this one didn’t disappoint either. This was Mason’s story. He takes a summer job with his uncle to try and forget Brinley and meets Felicity. Felicity just wants a summer fling but gets a whole lot more. Their story is filled with doubt, heartbreak, love, insecurity, and a healthy dose of college aged angst. I felt bad for Felicity, I truly did. Her breakup with her ex really did a number on her. Mason was just what she needed, even though she tried to fight it tooth and nail all the way. Mason wasn’t giving up on her though and he was the epitome of perfect except for a few flaws, but hey no one is perfect! Despite his flaws I truly loved Mason and his fierce determination to get through to Felicity and show her that she is worth loving.

We got a glimpse of the other characters from the previous books and what I hope was the setup for the next one which I’m praying is Colby and Isla’s story. This would be a great beach read for this summer and can be read as a stand-alone or read in order!

Still getting over the best friend he crushed on for so long, Mason needs distance, and he finds it by leaving town for the summer to work on a fishing boat with his uncle. But shortly upon arrival, he sees Felicity, a local waitress and perhaps the one to make him forget all about his broken heart. But Felicity knows better than to get too involved with one of the “Summer Boys,” those guys who come around to work or vacation for the summer and then return to their lives elsewhere. It doesn’t mean she’s above having a fun little fling, but falling for a Summer Boy was never in the plan.

The Verdict: This series just keeps surprising me in the best way, and I think this may be my favorite of the Crush books! The first two were great, but I was thrilled to see that this one gives us more of Mason, Brinley’s BFF from book #1.

Remember how Mason was a little head over heels for Brinley? So of course, he’s a bit heartbroken that she picked Ryder, who we all fell in love with in the first book. To get over it, he needs space, and to get space, he agrees to help out his uncle on a fishing boat for the summer. It’s not something this computer whiz has any experience, but it just may be the change of pace he needs. Throw in some seasickness and the hot girl in the next boat over, and it’s going to be a summer he won’t want to let go.

Life has been terribly unfair to Felicity, and her story is just heartbreaking. In trying to do the right thing, she broke up with her first love right around high school graduation, determined to see him chase his dreams and not be held back in a dead end, small town life with her. But one night of too much drinking and a bad decision while drowning his sorrows ruined everything. Felicity gave up the boy she loved only to have him get stuck changing diapers and trying to do the right thing by the girl he knocked up. I can’t even explain how terrible I felt for the two of them, seeing her painful but selfless gesture get them nowhere, while Brody gave up his own heart to live up to his new responsibilities. Reading their story and watching them awkwardly still care about each other is probably one of the saddest things I’ve read in a story like this — without being over the top.

But then came Mason, a nice guy who perfectly matched Felicity in the humor and banter department, and it didn’t hurt that he was hot as hell. His staying on the boat right next to hers had them running into each other, forming a cute friendship, and creating some serious chemistry. Felicity, of course, had her walls up, both because her heart had been broken before and because she knew that in a few weeks, Mason would be returning to his life at college. But despite both their best efforts, they were quickly in over their heads.

It wasn’t immediately clear that Felicity had bigger issues; it just seemed like she was overly cautious due to past events. But as things started playing out, it was great to see her grow and learn to follow her heart. Mason was patient and sweet, frustrating and all boy, and when they were at odds, they both acted exactly like the flawed people they were. In some ways, that made them even more perfect for each other.

Just a Little Kiss is a sweet, mostly fluffy read with a little angst thrown in to balance things out, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with the characters. I have no idea if the series is over, or if there will be more, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that Isla will get her happily ever after soon.

When I was lucky enough to read Just A Little Crush (the first in this delectable series of stand alone's) I had know idea who Renita Pizzitola was. Lets just say I am so glad I have been introduced. I absolutely love this series and Just a little kiss definitely did not disappoint. Just a Little Crush is my favorite but Just a Little Kiss is in close second!!

If you have not read the other books in this series it is fine, this story is complete without the history. However, for those of us who have had read the other books, this is Mason's story!! Mason who we have been mad at, our hearts have broke for, and we sympathized with.... that Mason. Let me just tell you he does not disappoint and it is so great getting to know Mason in um.... more intimate ways!!

Felicity is stuck in a small town kind of life. She has grown up in the same place, her family all surround her, she has had the same friends since kindergarten. It's the kind of place where it's impossible not to see everyone you know everywhere you go. This small town life and atmosphere is quickly suffocating the life out of Felicity. What makes it worse, is she is constantly bumping into the one person she has tried her hardest to avoid. The person who broke her heart!

Felicity knows she wants more than this town has to offer and has always have plans to escape, the only problem is she has no money, and has no idea how she is going to escape or what she will do when she does. Until she finds her way out.... she will find her entertainment in the summer boys. The kind of boys that don't form attachments and provide a temporary destruction. Anymore than that doesn't fit in with the plans or the rules. What rules you ask? The seemingly endless rules Felicity has in place to be sure she can never be hurt, or hurt others again. If that looks like baggage to you then you are correct, Felicity is carrying around a ton of it.

Some rules are made to be broken, and some chances are worth the risk, Felicity just has to decide what those will be.

Mason is running away from heartache, after all its not easy seeing your best friend, the girl you have been in love with forever, fall head over heals for another guy. Mason has had enough and needs to get away from it all. What better place to do that than on the water. He decides to go help out his uncle and cousins on the family fishing boat. Things seem great.... until he has to actually get on the water.... what was he thinking?

However, there does seem to be a silver lining to fish guts and sea sickness in the form of his crazy haired yet beautiful neighbor. Does he have what it takes to break down her walls, does he even want to?

Mason is absolutely lovable in this story! He is definitely equal parts sweet and hot. He has just enough push in him to get the job done without losing the sweet.

I love Felicity and Mason's story of overcoming fear and hurt and learning to love again.

4.5 stars -- Mason's story!!! It's been awhile since I read the first two books in this series, but I remember being sincerely hoping that Mason got his own story. This book was filled with so much hilarity, I had trouble not highlighting all the bantering and teasing between Felicity and Mason. And I just looked back at my review for Just a Little Flirt and had the same comment, so Ms. Pizzitola knows how to NAIL that sexy/funny chemistry. I really appreciated that Mason wasn't as hung up on Brinley as I'd expected him to be....I knew he took the job to get away from it all, but he really had accepted that how he felt for his best friend wasn't the love that he thought it was. So, on his side of things anyways, this story really was about his developing relationship with a girl he meets on a summer job. I appreciated that his character remained consistent to what I remember of him in the first book.... He could be sweet, but he had a bit of arrogance that remained in this book. But I never doubted his feelings for Felicity....he just had a few moments of dumbassery to make things complicated.

Felicity was a bit of a different story. It was interesting to have a character who may have been out of love with her ex, but was still profoundly affected by how that fallout happened. There were times that I really loved her, but there were just as many times that I wanted to bang my head against the wall with her back and forthness.... While Ms. Pizzitola does eventually give some great insight into why Felicity is the way she is, in some ways I think I would have been more sympathetic to her character had I learned about that earlier on (or maybe if I had just realized what was happening on my own). Basically, I ended up agreeing with Mason...she truly was a frustrating girl.

As per usual, in addition to the main characters, there were some equally intriguing secondary characters. Can I just say I squealed a little bit when I read the next book excerpt and saw that it was Isla's book?? Can't wait for that one to come out.

If you haven't read the other books in this series, you can still enjoy this one on its own. But I have no doubt that once you've enjoyed it, you'll want to read more of Ms. Pizzitola's characters.

I'll leave you with one of the many amazing pieces of banter found in the book:
"What do you think? Should I go with the silk or satin sheets?"
"Are you going to school or making a porno?"
"You say that like it can't be one and the same."

***I received a copy of this book from the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!***

Having read the rest of the series, I was looking forward to Mason's story. I wanted him to get the happy ending that he deserved. After having been hung up on his best friend Brinley, he needed a break to be able to let the idea of them go. As a result, he decided to spend the summer helping his uncle on his fishing boat. While there he meets the beautiful Felicity who is very good friends with his cousins. Though he is warned to stay away from her, there is something about her that he just can't resist.

This book had a lot of back and forth. Neither Mason nor Felicity planned on any really serious, they both just figured it would be a summer fling. With all the confusion and interference, they actually got to know each other very well and their summer fling developed into a real relationship. While Mason is usually the one who is hesitant to talk about his feelings or want a relationship from a girl, he is actually the one who pursues something more with Felicity. She had been burned in the past, and so was a little shy of getting involved with someone on a deeper level. She also over-analyzed every little thing, thus driving herself and those around her a little crazy.

I thought that this relationship developed naturally. I liked that they didn't just hook up immediately and then get to know each other, rather they developed an actual friendship where they felt completely comfortable with one another. They were able to share things with the other that they wouldn't normally share with anyone other than their best friend or someone they had known their whole life. I liked that this book showed the dance that people do when first getting to know someone...wondering if they are attracted to you, do they want something serious or casual, are they just flirting and so on. It was a very realistic portrayal of a new relationship. I liked the side characters, and thought that they added something to the story, especially Felicity's best friend. I also liked that Brinley and Fallon made an appearance, however brief, because I definitely enjoyed their stories.

I thought this was a well written book, entertaining yet addressing real issues, and I enjoyed the chemistry between Felicity and Mason. I have a feeling we may see some more stories from some characters who were introduced in this story. I would recommend this book, especially if you are a fan of the author's other books in this series.

I loveeeeed it!

I really liked the book, the romance, how it plays, the chemistry between the characters, the few messed up things that happen and the cute little things too. It's a really good story, entertaining and fun, a light read but a realistic one, something you can relate to, it's about two normal people trying to live normal life, with all that encompasses, with no unnecessary drama. Sometimes these "normal" kind of books are underestimated and we got some stories that have so much going on and they get so repetitive! So it's really nice to have something like this. And I LOVED IT!

I really don't have much to say, but I'm telling you this:
I have this little notebook and pen on my night stand, next to my kindle so I can take notes on it about the books I'm reading to make my reviews later and remember things. If I don't use that notebook it's usually because it's a book from an author I know and love and don't have to say anything about it or because I absolutely loved the book and there's nothing to add. In the particular case of this book I only added 2 things:
-I feel really connected to Felicity the leading female, and her fear of failure and to try out new things, I totally get it, I am that way too. Also, I see that she guards herself a lot and damn that is so me and I'm not proud of it but I relate to it, to her anxiety, to her over-thinking things, so that makes this book super special to me.
- I really love the friendship between Felicity and Isla, I love how Isla encourages Felicity to improve, to be better, to get out of her comfort zone and she reassures Felicity about the possibility about a better future. She's the best BFF!

I'd like to add that this series has really grown on me with each book, this is probably my favorite of them and I think I see a growth in the author, or maybe it's because I like it more with every new book but whatever it is I really recommend it!

Felicity Daniels feels as though she has no future. Living in what she feels is a "dead-end beach town" her friends all know what they want in life but she never has. She didn't do well in school so she has no clue what she wants to do in the future but she knows that college isn't in the cards. The only thing that she is certain of is that she will not be hooking up with or dating anyone that lives in town ever again. These is what leads her to only hooking up with summer boys quest but she has rules. No serious relationship and "hooking up" does not involve sex, she made that mistake before and it only ended badly.

Mason Hayes took the job on his uncles boat to get away from his best friend and her new boyfriend. He couldn't take another day of sitting around and watching fall deeper and deeper in love when all he ever wanted was for her to look at him that way. He never would have guessed that his summer job would lead him to someone like Felicity. From the moment that he saw her, he couldn’t stop thinking about her and she's different from any other girl that he's ever met. Will she meet him halfway and realize that what they've found is lasting and more than a summer fling?

This is the third installment of the "Crush" series and it might just be my favorite one yet. I loved Mason and Felicity together. They were both funny and quick witted. I loved the innuendos that they threw back and forth.

Each of these books can be read as a stand-alone book but trust me when I say that each of them are really great. I love her writing style and each of her characters have enduring qualities that you can't help but to fall in love with. I highly recommend this series and I'm hoping that Felicity's best friend Isla is next in the series.

I really enjoyed this quick and flirty read. Mason has been a character in the other books, and he's memorable but not as likeable as he is in this book. Being able to see from his perspective helps the reader to understand where he's coming from.

I think Ms. Pizzitola did a great job with alternating between the character POVs. Mason felt very real and honest. He's also very sweet and could easily be a new book boyfriend. :)

Felicity was interesting as well. There's a lot and not a lot going on in her life--which is the biggest challenge she is currently facing. I think that a lot of people can relate to her worry about not having a future planned out--or even having a direction. She has some very real traumas from the past, and I think that was an important thing that the author touched on, especially in regards to feeling anxious about our life choices.

I can see how Ms. Pizzitola continues to grow in her writing and storytelling, but something I was disappointed in with this book was the classic/cliche "big misunderstanding"--used twice. I believe that in new and fresh romances of today, readers want more than that. We want a different reason as to why characters are splitting up--and not because they jump the gun with their own immature conclusions about the other. Yes, it's college-aged and caused some angst and tension, but I was hoping for more than that from the characters.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read, along with the great chemistry of the two MCs. Very steamy and electric. Definitely recommend for those who are into new adult and college romance.

Just A Little Kiss was such an adorably, romantic story. I completely read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down !
It's about finding unexpected love and pursuing your dreams.
Mason and Felicity's chemistry was pretty amazing. There's definitely struggles and confusion along the way between them but when you know it's real, it's freaking real.
This book set my emotions pretty high. I felt the fuzziness, the frustration, and definitely had me crying with some parts of the book.
I TRULY ENJOYED IT !
That ending though, freaking loved it.
I sure am going to start reading the other books from the Crush series :)

5 SWOON WORTHY STARS !
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND !

Oh Mason that boy exaggerated a tad, "that dress was killing me. Death by blue balls. That’s how I’d leave this world." Sometimes Felicity is so into the moment she doesn't realize things:
"What is that?” I asked, patting her skirt.
“My phone.”
“It’s digging into my junk."
Mason is funny and he's laid back I found myself falling hard for him, "he grinned. “hearing you talk like that has me pretty turned on, but the way you’re murdering that lettuce has me kind of intimidated as well."living with Mason means following his rules, "good. Last rule: We should have sex no less than three times a day." I enjoyed this book so damn much.

Just a Little Kiss was a sweet, fun and easy read.

Felicity was guarded, stuck and looking for more. Felicity was stuck in her town with no idea of what she was going to do with her future. She had a waitressing job, great friends but yet still felt as if something was missing.

Mason was running from his life and needed a change. He was new in town and there to help out family. Felicity saw Mason as fun but it became so much more.

The love, hope, friendship and fun in this story makes this book enjoyable and hard to put down.

It's not a secret that I love Pizzitola's work. I love her Crush series. I love the way she strings together complex characters, compelling story lines and witty banter. I loved how endearing Felicity was, how you really hoped that she could get passed her issues. I adored Mason; he was charming and hilarious, but also determined to help Felicity fight her issues. In the other other books, I wasn't a huge fan of him, but now, I'm one of his biggest. Pizzitola has this way of writing these characters and I absolutely love it. Any way, I'll stop rambling on about her, and just say, this book was a brilliant addition to an already brilliant series.
