Kernersville Enterprises is an advertising and marketing company in Greensboro, North Carolina; the company was originally started in Kernersville, NC. This compilation of stories examines the lives of the company owner, Stephen Silver; marketing Consultant Evelyn James; Carte Seay, lawyer to C.A.K.E. owner, Kenyatta and Doran, C.A.K.E. employees and Brice, C.A.K.E. antisocial salesman.

When I originally read these stories (and reviewed two of them in 2013 giving them an average 3.5 stars), I read them in the incorrect order and realized that this series, which was called GSO Story, is best read in the way it is presented here.

The underlying thread in most of these short stories is that the main character has been lusting after the other person for a while and never had the courage to do anything about it. After Stephen, the owner, and Cree get together in C.A.K.E, the first short story, it seems the gloves are off for many other employees in that circle. Cree and Stephen worked together for six years before anything romantic took place.

In Tulips for Tonica, Carte lusted after Tonica when six years prior she interned at a law firm he worked at and now would have his chance with her. In Irish Luck, Kenyatta and Doran work in the same department and unknown to each other both have crushes on the other person. In Icing on the Cake, Brice, gets his bosses sister fired after she, in his mind unnecessarily insults him.

I enjoyed that each story had HEA’s and that the connection between the characters in each separate story stayed strong throughout. I recommend everyone who wants some quick reads to read this compilation
