I’ve had a thing for Abby Taylor since the moment I met her.

She’s a beautiful, hardworking, and sweet single mom who I’ve never had the nerve to ask out.

When she and her daughter need a place to stay after losing their home, I offer up my house.

I tell myself we’ll just stay friends and roommates. No way she’d be interested in me, the workaholic head coach of the Denver Bashers, who’s more than ten years older than her and has been out of the dating game for so long, it’s not even funny.

But the more time we spend together, the closer we get. I open up to her about losing my wife years ago. She opens up to me about her awful ex.

And when she gets stood up one night, I swoop in and take her on a romantic date. One kiss leads to the hottest night of my life…which leads to a no-strings-attached arrangement.

Soon, my heart is involved. I never thought I’d find love again, but I’m falling head over heels for this incredible woman.

Coach Porter's book!

I’m so glad author Sarah Smith decided to write Gavin and Abby’s love story! I loved this single mom and hockey coach roommates to lovers romance! The way Gavin loves Abby and Emma is breathtakingly beautiful and I appreciated that Gavin and Abby were a steamy good match in the bedroom. I love all of the couples in the Denver Bashers series but there is something really special about Gavin and Abby. Thank you to Sarah Smith for giving me the opportunity to read this early. It was such a delight to read.

ARC review for One Good Puck by Sarah Smith

Thanks to Sarah for the ARC opportunity!

What to expect: age gap, single mom, roommates to lovers, slow burn, just once, touch her and die, toys as friends, no third act break-up

TW/CW: overall a pretty light read but neglectful parent of the FMC's child is probably the biggest and also includes past death of a spouse (off page) and references to revenge porn.

Review: 4.5/5

DADDY P!!!!!! That is all. Let's chat.

Things I liked:
- So, I've been ready for Daddy P's story since book one of the Bashers series. I even noted it in my review for that book. I just knew he would hit so good as an MMC and I'm so happy Sarah heard her readers and gave us his story. I don't know what it is about the gruff, single hockey coach finding love that makes me all melty inside but it does. So, Daddy P was sure to scratch that itch. And he did. Perfectly. (As a note, there is no daddy kink in this for those who don't like that. It's just what I started referring to him as in my notes in book one (he's the FMC's father) and I've never stopped).
- I loved seeing Gavin (Daddy P's real name) paired with sweet Abby. He's older than her but it doesn't stop him from being completely infatuated with her and sweet Emma. It was also so wonderful seeing Gavin be a dad again. Obviously he's always a dad to Sophie but she's an adult now. It was very tooth-achingly sweet seeing Gavin act as father to a child again. I smiled every time they interacted and I just know he was the best dad to Sophie when he's all she had.
- The nickname! I squealed the first time he used it and I melted a little more every time he said it. And, along those lines, the dirty talk on this man. We love a man with a filthy mouth.

Things I disliked or missed the mark:
- Sarah's writing sometimes gets repetitive. Like, the same sentiments are delivered with very similar sentences within a few pages of each other. Things get hashed out in the character's minds almost aggressively sometimes (don't get me started on the post-shower solo scenes). And there's a general inconsistency in minor details (for example, in one chapter Sam is the best defenseman on the team and two chapters later Camden is and, in a few spots, the wrong character's name is used - Abby vs. Emma and Greg vs. Alan). It makes me feel like the story was churned out but that it didn't get the proper review and editing time it needed before ARCs and release. And, again, this was an ARC review so I'm hopeful that did get cleaned up before release. Now, all that being said, I still loved the story. I've been so hyped up for Daddy P's book that I don't think these little things could have made me like it less.

So, all's that to say. Get yourself your favorite drink and snuggle up in your favorite reading spot to enjoy our hot, older hockey coach find love with his new girl. It's perfectly sweet and spicy and everything I wanted for Daddy P.

Another 5 star read from Sarah Smith!! One Good Puck is book #5 in the Denver Bashers Series and did not disappoint.

Hot Daddy P aka Coach Porter is the man of everyone's dreams!! He's sweet, he's sexy, he's possessive, he's protective. You can't help but fall in love with Gavin Porter!

One Good Puck is I think my favourite book out of the entire series so far. I love all the MMCs that Sarah writes, but there's something about Daddy P and Abby's story that just hits differently, in all the best ways.

I was so captivated from page 1 that I devoured this book. If it wasn't for sleep I would've finished it in one day lol. I laughed, I cried, and I swooned....a lot!!!

10/10 for One Good Puck and I'm excited for the next one.

This story follows the start of a relationship between the Denver Bashers coach, Gavin, and Abby, who is a teacher and is also friends with Gavin's daughter, Sophie. Gavin and Abby are thrown together a lot in this book and start to notice each other more as they attend parties for friends.
At one point, Abby and her daughter Emma are put in a tough spot when their landlord tells them that they'll need to move in a few months, and Gavin swoops in to save the day with an offer to let them stay with him. He has a big house and there is plenty of room for everyone.
Meanwhile, changes are happening on the ice hockey team with one player, McCoy, getting let go because of a scandal. In his place, they put in a seasoned player, Ryker, who helps the team feel complete as they face the season after the Bashers' Stanley Cup win.
I like the chapter-to-chapter change in point-of-view between Gavin and Abby so that we can see how they feel as the events of the book unfold.
Gavin and Abby's emerging feelings are put to the test as they deal with different situations including pushback from the banished player, McCoy, and the later appearance of Abby's ex, who is also Emma's father.

I loved how protective Gavin was of Abby and Emma during the book and how his relationship with Abby brought smiles to his face that even the reporters at the hockey games noticed. I loved how fiercely protective Abby was of Emma and how she felt like she was finally able to let her guard down around Gavin, who offered her support and comfort. I think that Gavin and Abby compliment each other perfectly as a couple, and with the dynamics of the team and their entire group of found family, I can't wait to read the next book!

I hadn't heard of this series before I was given an ARC copy of this book by the author. My opinions are my own, and I like this book so much that I want to go back and start the series from Book 1!

I am obsessed with this team. The Bashers are Denver's Stanley cup winning Ice hockey team and the men in this team are all decent and hot, so of course their leader Coach Porter is a) a stand up guy, b) a hunk and c) a cinnamon roll hero - because he's a girl dad! Gavin Porter is Sophie's dad (Book 1 - Sophie and Xander in Fake as Puck). He's been a single dad for over a decade because work and caring for Sophie was his focus. As the team get all loved up and bring in a wider circle of women to the fold, he meets Abby. Abby is a single mum, kindergarten teacher who works with Dakota (Book 4) who has a thing for older men and most definitely has a thing for Gavin and vice versa, Gavin has a big thing for Abby! Throw in a little forced proximity to aid the chemistry and bam, these two finally give into the slow burn and IT IS EXPLOSIVE. Did not expect the sweet innocent Abby to be sooooo adventurous? but loved that Coach Porter had that side of him in the bedroom.... eeekkk, it's a steamy read. This is a great series to read, this one is a stand alone but with interconnected characters, because they are all up in each others business! It's one big family of love with the Bashers and I'm here for it.

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own

I really wanted to like this book - the setup was perfect with an older widow and a single mom navigating the dating world. Instead, I was highly disappointed how Gavin sounded exactly like every other MMC in this series. The way he spoke about Abby and how turned on he was made him sound like a frat guy. And even the relations they had in the bedroom were more for experimental young couples rather than two mature adults. I wanted more swoony romance and instead it was unrealistic college banging. So far, all the stories in this series are so similar - two people avoiding being together, with the MMC giving the FMC a pet name that he calls her 100x throughout the book, all ending with the couple ending up together quickly without any struggle or hardships to create drama or suspense. And all the romance scenes in the series are literally the exact same. I wish there was more variety with how each couple is with what they like and don’t like. Every character is truly the same person in a different font.

All of this to say, I will of course be continuing the series and finishing it off. They’re all super easy and quick reads and great palette cleansers if you’re in a reading slump. I think overall the series is cute and heartwarming, I just wish there was more depth to the characters and bigger differences in the story lines.

I was waiting for these two and I absolutely loved it so much, I couldn’t get enough of these two and Gavin!?! OLDER MAN JUST DO IT BETTER!

Abby lease is not being renewed so she’s on a short time to find an apartment for her and her daughter, Gavin house is just huge and it’s just him. They both been attracted to each other for a while but neither of them did anything about it

This series is just amazing, Sarah is doing so amazing with this series I love it so much.

Abby is a teacher who’s also a single mom to 7 year Emma who’s her entire role after Emma dad left.

I love how the forced proximity made them want each other more and they couldn’t deny their feeling much longer. Their chemistry and banter is just amazing they just love and care for each other so much and the relationship Gavin has with Emma

Gavin is the hockey coach of his daughter husband team and I loveeee this man he’s just amazing and the most caring person ever and so protective. I love that about him

I can’t wait for the next book, I just know those two are going to be amazing and tension!? I need their story

Thank you for giving me this arc it was amazing <3

This was my first true age gap book and it didn't disappoint. It took me a little getting used to especially with Abby and Sophie being friends (still not sure about it tbh). I am so happy to finally get to learn more about Gavin. He is such a sweetie even though he was so grouchy to start the series. I love how honest Abby was with everything. All I gotta say is screw all of those scumbag men!! The big scene at the end had me on the EDGE of my seat. I truly cannot wait for the next one because Sarah Smith will never disappoint me with this series.

The book opens up with the head coach, Gavin Porter standing his ground against, Alan Arden the GM for, the Denver Bashers. With Alan asking him, “You sure this is the hill you wanna die on, Gavin? You’re positive?” Without skipping a beat Gavin says, “I’ve never been more certain about anything. Get rid of this guy. I don’t want him on my team anymore.” Alan shakes his head, he’s pissed. He knows Alan is and he doesn't care. “We’re gonna catch hell for this.” “I don’t care.” “I’ve always admired your conviction, Gavin—your no-nonsense approach to coaching and how you treat the guys on our team.

But I gotta say, I’m not with you on this. Zach McCoy is a great player. He played his ass off for us during the Stanley Cup series. And he had some key plays during the championship game.” “I don’t care,” he repeats. “He released revenge porn of his ex. I don’t want a player like that on my team.” “What he did was illegal.” He’d always been on good terms with Alan. They’re not friends, but they're cordial. He’s his boss. He doesn’t like to blur the lines with professional colleagues. But this is the first time he’s questioned his character for standing up for a player like Zach McCoy.

“You can keep McCoy if you want, Alan. You’re the team's general manager, so you get the final say when it comes to our roster. But if you choose to keep him, I’m gone.” His eyes go wide at the ultimatum I’ve thrown at him. “Come on, Gavin. You don’t need to make threats.” “I’m not making a threat. I’m just telling you the facts.” He shouldn’t have to explain anything. Because what McCoy did was wrong. Illegal. Immoral. Beyond f--ked up. “Fine,” he mutters. He picks up his phone. “I’m calling McCoy’s agent right now.

He’s gone.” “Good,” he murmurs back. He knows this would change their work dynamics forever. He walks down the hall of the arena where the Bashers play, toward his office. Gavin, unlocks his phone and pulls up Xander’s contact info. He’s the star center, and the fiancé of Gavin’s daughter Sophie. Gavin didn’t like him when he first met him. He’s an incredible player on the ice, but off the ice, he was a playboy. Until he met his daughter. “Hey, Coach. What’s up?” “I met with Alan. McCoy’s off the team.” Xander lets out a slow breath. “I’m really glad to hear that.”

“You had to push pretty hard with Alan, didn’t you?” Xander asks. “Yeah. He thought McCoy deserved another chance. I didn’t.” “I’m glad you stood your ground, Coach. I don’t wanna play with a guy who thinks revenge porn is okay.” “I’ve always got your back,” he says, the edge in his voice gone. “You’re the first player on the team I’ve told. I still have to contact everyone.” “I’m with Richards, Thompson, Blomdahl, and McKesson right now. I’ll let them all know about what happened with McCoy.” “Thank you.” “Are you okay?” he asks. “No, but I will be.” “Come out and have a drink with us.”

“It’s the off-season. You really wanna see your coach when you don’t have to yet?” “Of course we do.” I can tell he’s smiling. “Come on, I bet you could use a drink after the day you’ve had dealing with this mess.” “Okay, sure. After I contact the rest of the players, I’ll join you guys.” “Glad you joined us, Coach,” Xander says. “Yeah, it was fun having a drink with you,” Theo Thompson says. “You should come out with us more often,” Sam McKesson says. I stand up from the table and drop cash on the table. “You don’t need to pay,” Xander says.

“I crashed your hangout. It’s the least I can do.” “See you at training camp next week, gentlemen,” When he walks out of the men’s room and back into the main bar, he hears a familiar voice. Gavin turns around and sees Abby sitting at a small booth in the back corner with some guy. He’s met her a dozen times. She’s the friend and coworker of Dakota Richards, who is Del’s younger sister and the girlfriend of Sam. Since Abby is looking at the guy sitting across from her, she doesn’t see him, which is probably a good thing.

He bets he looks like his eyes are about to pop out of his head. Her blonde hair is styled in pretty waves, and she’s wearing a yellow sundress. She looks gorgeous. She always looks gorgeous. The first time he met her, Gavin probably came off like a bumbling idiot. He couldn’t help it. She’s stunning. And way out of his league, old man. Abby is in her early thirties and is a kindergarten teacher. She’s sweet and kind and funny. A few of the times we’ve talked, Gavin got the impression she was flirting with him. He thought about asking her out, but he talked himself out of it.

He’s pushing fifty. No way she’d be interested in a guy like him—a grumpy workaholic hockey coach. She laughs at something the guy she’s with says. She’s clearly on a date. A second later, he notices her smile goes tight. “I should get going,” she says. “Where do you want to head next?” Her smile falters. “Sorry, but I don’t have time to do anything else. I need to pick up my daughter.” “I can give you a ride. I love kids.” Gavin frowns at the smugness of the guy’s tone. “No, that’s alright. I’m not comfortable with strangers around my daughter.”

He sets his credit card on the table, but Abby shakes her head. “It’s okay, I can pay for my drink.” She grabbed cash and went to set it on the table, but the guy grabbed her hand in his, holding her back. Gavin notices the way she tenses immediately. She tries to pull out of his grip, but he doesn’t let go. A protectiveness flares up inside of him. This guy needs to keep his hands to himself. “Come on, Abby. What kind of date would I be if I let you pay?” Abby lets out a tired sigh. “This isn’t a date, Logan.

I told you that.” With a sharp jerk, she pulls her hand out of his grip. And that’s when he notices the change in his expression. His smile drops. He looks pissed. Gavin pissed too. Whoever this guy is, he’s blatantly ignoring Abby’s boundaries, even though she’s made them clear. And he doesn’t take no for an answer. That internal protectiveness of his sharpens. She shouldn’t have to put up with this. Before he can talk himself out of it, he walks over to their table and stands next to Abby.

He glances down at her and watches the recognition flash in her eyes. “Gavin. Hi.” “Hey, sweetness. Sorry, I’m late.” Welcome to their meet-cute 2.0. The love that radiates from Gavin throughout the entirety of the book is so much fun to read. Abby is a lucky woman.

Back with the Bashers, in this book we hang out with Coach Porter (Gavin) and Abby (Dakota's coworker). As established in previous books, Gavin had an insta-crush on Abby and visa-versa. However, as these things go, they decide to be roommates instead of the more popular choice of getting naked and doing the nasty immediately. For us, that's a bummer... For them, it's also a bummer. But what's a girl to do when the most generous man in the world says "you and your daughter can live with me" when he hears her dismay about losing her housing situation. It's obviously unethical to boink your landlord... though it's rent free so...

I digress. This story was so much more wholesome than the previous Denver Basher's books. I mean there is a child involved. The very sweet, Emma, is Abby's mini-me. They were left by her father when she was 6 months old and Abby hasn't had a a serious relationship since. Gavin is a widower and hasn't really dated seriously since his wife passed 10+ years ago. So they're both primed for a good time - in the privacy of a bedroom, or alley, or you know the kitchen- no judgement.

The following tropes are observed:
🏒Age gap
🏒Hockey coach and single mom
🏒Roommates to lovers
🏒"Just once to get it out of our systems"
🏒"Touch her and d!e"
🏒Slow burn
🏒Dirty talk
🏒Toys
🏒No third-act breakup!

I liked this book. It hit on different themes than we're used to, but I feel like the execution was there. Sometimes I wanted the meandering thoughts to just stop for a bit and sit. If these two would have had an honest conversation on multiple situations, they would have reached Happily Ever After much faster. The mutual pining sometimes got to be a bit much. Like, Abby, remember when he said yes immediately to your stipulations, no questions asked? Dude was taking whatever scraps you left out for him... He absolutely likes you. Also, F*ck off McCoy, Levi, and Alan (in that order), Ya'll are terrible. That being said, I loved the filthy things that came out of Gavin's mouth, and I mean all of the things that came out of it. What a silver fox. I guess, I liked Abby, she was nice.

Some fav quotes
"Do you know what I love about you, Sweetness?"
“What?”
"Everything. Every single thing."

The woman I only ever thought would be a friend. The woman I wanted since the day I met her. And tonight, she’s all mine.

I love that you don’t care about hockey, but you go to Basher games to cheer me on.

And I love that, out of all the guys in the world, you chose me. I feel like the luckiest man on the planet to get to love you, Abby.

You are the most incredible man I’ve ever met in my life. You’re so respectful and kind and thoughtful and giving. You always stand up for what’s right, no matter what. You go out of your way to make me feel special. I’ve never felt this cherished-this doted on.

It’s just a little unconventional. We were friends, then roommates, then friends with benefits, and now we’re in a relationship. That’s not how things are supposed to go.

“One night to have you in all the ways I’ve been fantasizing about?” Gavin growls. “Get it out of our systems. Then we can focus on just being friends.”
“you think we can go back to being friends after seeing each other naked?”
“There’s only one way to find out.”

There’s just something about a man who would burn down the world for the woman he loves

“I can’t just kiss you, Abby.” “Why not?”
“Because I know that one kiss with you wouldn’t be enough. I know I wouldn’t be able to stop.”

4.5⭐️

After reading the other books in the series I really wanted Coach to get his own book and I am so happy that happened! Gavin (Coach Porter, MMC) and Abby (FMC) are so cute together, and there is just something special about them as a couple. They are both single parents, though Gavin’s daughter is an adult (she is the FMC of book one of this series), and they understand each other on a deep level. Their feelings for each other develop at the same speed, though they both are concerned that the other doesn’t feel the same so the tension is there but it isn’t angsty by any means. The only thing that kept me from rating this one a little bit higher is the fact that it ends a bit abruptly. All of the loose ends are tied up and the epilogue is a peek into their future together, but it ended in a way that made me feel like there should be more if that makes sense.

This is a slow burn, but I love that we get to see their relationship progress in a way that feels natural and on a timeline that makes sense. Abby isn’t ready for a relationship and Gavin just wants to go at whatever speed makes her the most comfortable. This is one of those relationships where they are in one, even if they haven’t labeled it that way (and insist they are “just hooking up”) because they are in denial. They start as acquaintances who are mutually attracted to each other, then roommates and friends, then friends with benefits, then more. The spice is spicy, those who like praise, this one is for you. He is so protective of her (and her daughter), and when it matters most he proves to her what his priorities are.

I don’t always enjoy love after loss stories, but I think this one was done well. The FMC isn’t competing with the memory of the MMC’s wife, but it isn’t like his past never happened either. Gavin steps up to be a solid male figure in the FMC’s daughter’s life, and the relationship they form is so sweet. Overall this book met my expectations and I am so happy that Coach and Abby got their HEA!

I’m a fan of this series and when I finished the last one I was eager to go back to this world and see what happens with Gavin Porter and Abby, because sincerely, they deserved their happy ending!
Gavin doesn’t disappoint. He’s loyal, cute, well-balanced and romantic.
Abby is a school teacher, friend and coworker of Dakota (Gavin’s daughter best friend) and single mum, and after some meet cute (that you can sense the tension between Gavin and Abby), they ended sharing Gavin’s house (Did I mention Gavin’s heart is pure gold?)
So Gavin, Emma and Abby live together and the inevitable bonding between the characters appeared. Emma is a funny, witty seven year girl and reading her relationship with Gavin is something special, because is not forced at all, he treated her with respect and kindness and Emma really shows she cares Gavin and enjoys living with him. On the other hand Abby and Gavin attraction between each other is undeniable and it’s just a matter of time. But the way Sarah approaches that mature relationship, the respect and the boundaries that Abby proposes in order to protect her daughter is sooo well written and very adjusted. And well, you know the lines are meant to be blurred.

Tropes you can find in this book:
- Age gap
- sport romance (hockey romance)
- housemates to friends with benefits to lovers
- touch her and will die
- slow burn
- single parents
- hot coach/ school teacher
- dual 1st person POV
- no 3rd act break-up

This book is an open-door one. Although the spicy level may be lower than in other titles in the series, do not underestimate Gavin and his well manners in the rink because he’s full of surprises (anyone says dirty talk??)🫢🥰🥵

My ratings:
4,5/5⭐️ 2/5🌶️

We’re back with the Denver Bashers team, and once again, Sarah has pulled me right back into this world.

From the start, I’ve had a soft spot for the grumpy coach, so I was thrilled to learn he was getting his own book. Now, I’ll admit—single parent and age-gap romances aren’t usually my favorite tropes, but this one? Swoon! 😍

Coach Porter is a workaholic, stoic, no-nonsense kind of guy. His life revolves around the Denver Bashers, and his only real soft spot is for his daughter, Sophie. But when he unexpectedly finds himself stepping in to help a single mom and her daughter, his world is about to change.

Abby is a hardworking, sweet kindergarten teacher and a devoted mom to a young daughter. Life is always hectic and tough for her, but when she suddenly finds herself in need of a new place to live, help comes from the last person she ever expected.

Sarah has a unique way of making readers fall in love with not just the main characters but the side characters too. I adored Abby from her introduction in previous books, and even though I’m not a single parent myself, I really connected with the way Sarah portrayed the struggles of parenthood, both for Coach Porter and Abby. This book hit me especially hard because I could relate to Coach P and Sophie’s relationship, as well as Abby’s experiences with motherhood—particularly now that I have a child of my own.

This story had me all up in my feels from start to finish. It was heartwarming, tender, and the spice was chef’s kiss 🤌🏼 —a slow, sexy burn that just hits differently.

If you're in the mood for a book that will give you all the feels and leave you with that cozy, feel-good comfort, this is a must-read. I highly recommend it!

A huge thank you to Sarah for the ARC of this beautifully written book.

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love when a book leaves me with a smile and warm fuzzies, and this one definitely did that. I've always liked Coach Porter. We first meet him in book 1, as he's Sophie's dad and the Bashers' head coach. Having raised his daughter after his wife died and focusing on hockey for so long, he finds himself lonely in his big house.

Abby is a single mom, friends with Sophie, and a kindergarten teacher with Dakota (Del's sister). She's met Gavin several times and developed a bit of a crush on him, but has no idea that he's nursing his own crush on her. When Abby finds herself without housing and Gavin finds out, he immediately offers her and her daughter space in his home.

Will they realize their feelings and find each other as the months go by, or will they keep things in the friend zone to maintain a stable living situation?

I sometimes have issues with age gap romances; I mean, when he got his driver's licence, she was just being born. But, you know, they're both adults, both single parents, and it doesn't really seem to matter that they're so different in age. Their experiences match up, and they just fit.

There are some new characters introduced, and they, along with the ones we already know and love, help add fun, joy, and heart to the story. We all know I'm a sucker for found family, and the Bashers absolutely qualify for that. I'm so happy for how this story turned out, and can't wait to find out what will happen with Ryker. I'm so glad there will be more of this world to read about!

For those who enjoy single parents, found families, age gaps, spice, and heartwarming conclusions in their romance, this will fit the bill.

Thank you so much to the author for having me on your team and gifting me with this ARC. I am happy to share my voluntary review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another 5-star read from Sarah Smith!!

One Good Puck (Denver Bashers #5) absolutely did not disappoint.

Hot Daddy P (aka Coach Gavin Porter) is the man of everyone’s dreams — sweet, sexy, protective, and just the right amount of possessive. You cannot help but fall for him. And paired with Abby? Their story is pure perfection.

I think this might just be my favorite of the entire series so far. I love all of Sarah’s MMCs, but there’s something about Daddy P and Abby’s journey that just hits differently. Their chemistry, their banter, and the way they cared for each other (and for Emma, Abby’s daughter) completely melted me. Forced proximity + found family + silver fox vibes? Yes, please!

From page one, I was hooked — if it wasn’t for sleep, I would’ve finished it in one sitting. I laughed, I cried, I swooned (a lot). Gavin and Abby’s slow-burn, roommates-to-lovers romance is everything I wanted and more. And Gavin’s bond with Emma? Heart. Stolen.

✨ 𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚎𝚡𝚙𝚎𝚌𝚝 ⋆˚✿˖°
– Teacher x Hockey Coach
– Single Mom
– Friend’s Dad
– Roommates to Lovers
– Age Gap
– Slow Burn
– No Third Act Breakup
– “Just once to get it out of our systems” 👀

Sarah continues to deliver the perfect mix of heartfelt and spicy, and Gavin’s filthy mouth? Let’s just say, older men really do it better.

10/10 for One Good Puck. This series keeps getting better, and I’m already counting down the days until the next book. Thank you so much for the ARC — I couldn’t get enough of these two!!

One good puck was such a heartwarming, wholesome read. It was refreshing to read a story about two mature people who communicated what they wanted with one another.

I loved seeing how Abbys and Coach Porters' relationship grew. Going from friends to roommates to friends with benefits to lovers.

It was hard not to love both the MMC and FMC, as they were both so likeable. Abby is the sweet, caring, single mum and kindergarten teacher.

Whilst Coach Gavin Porter was known as the grumpy Bashers head coach, when in fact, he is a stand-up, honourable, caring guy. He himself had become a single dad when he lost his beloved wife.

Gavin welcomed Abby and her cute daughter, Emma, into his home. His relationship with Emma was adorable. I loved how he cared for everyone around him, his daughter, Abby, Emma and his hockey players.

We had seen Abby and Gavins instant attraction in the previous book. That attraction developed into a sexy, loving relationship.

To the outside, Abby comes across as sweet and shy, and Gavin is grumpy and protective. From
Abby stating what she wants to Coach Porters filthy mouth, their chemistry is hot. The shower scene 👀🔥

I really enjoy how Sarah Smith brings all the characters from the rest of the series into each book. They feel like one big extended hockey family.

If you love an age gap, forced proximity, hockey romance, then you will love this.

Thank you to Sarah Smith for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

One Good Puck
Denver Bashers Book 5
Sarah Smith
ARC

Read by: Me on my Ebook -

"One Good Puck" -or- as I like to call it "The one where everyone has an engagement party"

I have been WAITING for this book!! We really only have known coach Porter as the grumpy coach or over protective dad.

But we got a hint of what he may be like whenever Abby Taylor was around.

This kindergarten teacher with the sweetest daughter has a way of putting a smile on this grump's face.

When a turn of events leads to coach asking Abby and her daughter to move in with him when she loses her house.... it gets harder and harder for him to deny his feelings.

Gavin hasn't loved since his wife died but watching the life come back to his home was a joy even for me to watch. The relationship that Gavin cultivated with Emma was the sweetest, this little girl without a dad found herself the best one.

The relationship between the two didn't happen overnight, and you get to watch it grow and develop and you see a family form and it is really beautiful.

There's a couple of surprises, a lot of spice and some laugh out loud moments. I love seeing the whole team from the previous books. And yes we get to go to all the engagement parties and they are each unique to the couple. It's pretty great.

“One Good Puck,” takes you through my favorite sweet lives of-
(✨🏒Gavin Porter & Abby Taylor🎨✨)
As they explore an adventure of tropes, Age gap, hockey coach, single mom, a sweet roommates to lovers, a hot slow burn and so much more! But here’s a peak of those lovers-

Gavin Porter💋✨Is officially now my new favorite Husky MMC and everything more that comes with it when it comes to him🤩Gavin is truly written as such a sweet and loving character, that you can feel his genuine love through the pages the way it’s expressed endlessly🥹Soon as you meet his character he will steal your heart in seconds with his soft touching affection and words of wisdom and kindness🥹 Making him an absolute beauty with his golden heart and amazing personality that constantly shines bright whenever he’s around his loved ones! AKA his lover Abby and his sweet daughters🥹🩷that words can’t even express how proud and happy he is for them that I don’t think there will ever be a day he isn’t giving his all to everyone with his protectionism flair & compassion even when it’s his hardest days he will always continues to be there & show up
even if it’s his last🥹✨

Abby Taylor✨my girlie is absolutely a true favorite character of mine especially when we shared our ways in Art🎨✨ her passion for what she loves is beautiful! But her loving heart for her daughter and her lover Gavin is truly stunning and so touching and sweet🥹their beautiful dynamic duo as an couple will warm your hearts and wish this book never ended (I really wish it didn’t😭It was way too good). Abby’s character truly embodies so much strength as a mother and as an amazing women🥹She has gone through so much and you see her growth with each passing chapter and as she always pulls through fighting at her hardest for her loved ones and who couldn’t fall in love with that🥹✨

Grumpy Coach finally gets his happy ending! After falling head over heels for him in the last book, I was really looking forward to his book with Abby. Watching these two go from strangers, to roommates, to reinds with benefits to lovers was such a fun journey. And little Emma? I adored her.
Gavin is the quintessential gentleman, always going the extra mile to care for Abby, even before they were anything more than friends. He gave her and Emma a place to live, and their forced proximity allowed them to expand on their feelings. Watching him interact with Emma was truly swoon-worthy. The way that he stood up for Abby in multiple different situations showed his true character, that while he may be this soft and sweet guy around Emma and Abby, he can be a hard ass who takes no one's shit and doesn’t let anyone talk poorly about the women in his life.
I loved that there were no awkward situations between Sophie and Abby, seeing as they are relatively close in age, and Abby eventually ends up in a relationship with Sophie’s father. It was sweet to just see that Sophie was happy to see her father so happy again.
I did enjoy this book more than the last book, as there was no usage of terms for spicy scenes that didn’t match said scenes. And that bonus scene?! Phew! Get your man, Abby. I can’t wait for the next one!

Chapter 55 will have you wanting to fight a fiction character. IYKYK.

I knew after reading Of Pucking Course I was going to absolutely love Coach Gavin Porter and Abby.

Abby is a kindergarten teacher trying to survive being a single mom to her 7yr old daughter Emma. She gets a call from her landlord telling her that she will need to find a new place because he was selling her apartment. Where else could Abby go but Gavin's house?

Even though Abby and Gavin think each other is attractive they don't want to act on it because they are roomies. I am telling you Sarah did some edging in this book with these two but it was worth it. Couple goals. Gavin was amazing with Emma and would do anything for her.

The word thrashing was used a little to many times but other they that I have no complaints about this book.

I was given this ARC by Sarah for my honest review.

As always, Sarah Smith’s hockey romances just hit different! Having seen Coach Porter for the entire Denver Bashers series so far, it was so fun to see him fall in love. Gavin and Abby were so adorable in their journey to realize their feelings for each other. The forced proximity made everything soooo good, and I laughed out loud a few times at how frustrated they each were getting over it!!

There was something so compelling about how both Gavin and Abby are single parents. They instinctively relate to one another so effortlessly. The relationship they both have with Abby’s daughter Emma is so precious. Even with their age gap, this shared life experience really unites them and helps bring Gavin and Abby closer together.

I love so much how many of the characters from this series are regulars in One Good Puck! After ARC reading Fake as Puck a while ago, it’s been amazing to see Sarah fill out the rest of the characters and the world. Gavin and Abby are such a lovely addition to the Bashers crowd, and I really am loving this series so much!

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.

ARC Review of One Good Puck by Sarah Smith

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶🌶🌶.5/5

I absolutely adore the Denver Bashers series, and One Good Puck was such a fantastic addition! Coach Gavin completely stole my heart - he’s the perfect cinnamon roll hero: sweet, steady, and impossible not to love. From the moment he noticed Abby, you could feel it was love at first sight. Even before anything happened between them, his protective nature toward both Abby and Emma made me melt. With tropes like forced proximity and an age gap romance, Sarah Smith created the perfect recipe for swoony chemistry, and let me tell you—it was absolutely spot on.

Also what really stood out was the relationship between Gavin and Emma. Their connection felt so natural and sweet.

This story gave me everything I love in a sports romance: heart, heat, and characters that linger with you long after the last page. I can’t wait to see what Sarah has in store next for this series!

What To Expect:
🌶 Age Gap
🤱 Single Mom
🛏 Roommates To Lovers
🔥 Slow Burn

Denver Bashers Series Book 5

Holy Age Gap! There are no words suitable enough to describe how fantastic Gavin Porter is!

This book follows Abby after finding out her lease isn't being renewed and is needing a place for her and her daughter, in swoops Coach Gavin Porter, he has been attracted to Abby for a while and thought even after offering her a place to live he would be able to keep it to himself...

This series is truly the gift that keeps on giving, I absolutely devoured this one as I did with the previous. From both of there upsetting pasts and finally finding someone worth it is just so beautiful and uplifting, this will really get you in the feels in the best way.

As always with being book 5 in the series we see the return of all of the Bashers and their other halves as well as a few new faces this is the found family you want to have in your life, I would recommend this series to anyone looking for their new favourite Hockey Romance. For fans of Hockey Romances, Age Gap, Single Mum, Hockey Coach, Dirty talking and some very delicious Spicy Goodness.

Thank you Sarah smith for the gifted eARC in exchange this is my honest review.

One Good Puck is an easy, steamy, slow build, hockey romance with an acceptable age gap (only adults please) that I loved.

Gavin, coach of the Denver Bashers, nearing his fifties has been attracted to Abby since he first met her. The friend and coworker of one of his players’ sister and another’s girlfriend, and she feels off limits, being a busy working single mother, and she is almost twenty years younger and his his daughter’s friend. Abby has a thing for older men, well man, Gavin, her new roommate who invited her and her daughter after her landlord had to sell her place. In such close proximity what could possibly happen?

I loved these two so much and age gap really only works for me when they are all adults. That was nice. I also loved how caring Gavin was and understanding of Abby being a single mom. I loved how attentive he was to her needs and how she gradually let him in and help. The chemistry worked and felt natural. Smith once again wrote some excellent spice that I just loved reading. Can’t wait for the next book!

Overall, 4/5 stars. One Good Puck is out now.

oh my god i love this series!!!
i am not someone who usually enjoys age gap, there are few books i have read with age gap i like, but this is totally one!

i love how we get to continue a bit about the hockey players lifes through this book, it gives more truth so to say to the stories.

i give this book 4 out of 5 stars because there were a few interactions between Abby and Gavin that for me put a bit of a damper on the situation. But otherwise i freaking love this book! i love the characters, Sara Smith has really captured wholesome personalities, again! Abby is such a sweetheart and an amazing mother, it kills me that she is so insecure about herself. and oh my god, Emma is just too adorable! So full of energy and love in this cute little innocent girl🩷

And it is so hot to see two sides of Gavin! one side this broody and full-focus coach, and the other this caring, loving and hot dad. He is so amazing with Emma, it just brings warmth to the heart. and as always, the interactions between all hockey players as well as the coach is freaking hilarious!

i can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romcom with a bit of age gap (but the age gap was hardly noticeable).

I love the Denver Bashers series, and I have been waiting for Coach Porter's book. It was everything that I was hoping for and more.

We have seen glimpses of Gavin and Abby throughout the other books. Abby is a kindergarten teacher who works with Dakota. When Abby needs a new place to live, Gavin invites her and her 7 year old daughter, Emma, to move in with him. They agree to keep things on a friend level because of their living arrangement. This sets up a slow burn that leads to such amazing spice!

They decide to do it once to get it out of their systems, but they can't fight their feelings anymore. Gavin may be a quiet guy, but he brings the dirty talk! He also enjoys using toys with Abby, and he also calls her a good girl.

Gavin is protective of Abby and her daughter, and he gives off touch her and die vibes. I loved their relationship and how it was built on friendship. They were great together!

I recommend this series to anyone looking for a spicy, hockey series with amazing spice and fantastic character development.
