Impact didn’t read like a typical crime story to me. Impact is mostly like watching people slowly come apart after a sudden, violent moment. The shooting is jarring, but what stayed with me was Cynthia's confusion, her grief, and that uneasy feeling that she might not have known the people closest to her. The investigation moves along, but the parts that hit me hardest were the quiet family tensions and the small, morally messy decisions people make when they’re scared. As a reader from the Brighter Horizon Book Club, I closed the book feeling thoughtful, aware of how one act can quietly reshape so many lives long after the crime itself.

Impact isn’t so much about solving a crime as it is about what’s left behind once the noise dies down. I was struck by how ambition and secrecy subtly shape people’s choices, sometimes without them even being aware of it. The story moves in a restrained way, letting those moments sit rather than forcing them. I finished the book still thinking about how violence doesn’t really end when the scene is cleared, it lingers, shaping lives in small, unseen ways.

If you look for a great thriller taking place in the international town of Geneva (Swizerland)... you will love this book full of suspense and happenings chapter after chapter. I read other books from Marlene Jeanrenaud and this one is the best ! Once you start reading it, you won't stop until the epilogue page. Enjoy it and it would be a nice Christmas present...
