I’m the author of a children’s adventure fantasy series filled with action and mystery—The Lords of Dimensions: The Night Slayer, The Princes of the Abyss, The Demon Ripper, and The Pyramids of Power.

The series began in 2002 as weekly phone stories I told my nephew so we could stay in touch. Years later, in 2010, I wrote them all down for my son. He read them, laughed a lot, and way too often forgot to breathe. I acted cool about it, but inside, I was doing a victory dance.

My goal was simple—write something fast, funny, and packed with characters 10-14-year-olds could relate to. But as a busy entrepreneur, perfecting the books took time. Once I dedicated myself full-time to my dream of writing for kids, the process sped up.

All four books are now complete, and I’m just waiting on final touches like covers and formatting. The adventure begins with The Night Slayer on August 14, 2025, and the entire series will be released in less a year—by August 2026!

As for me, I like to say I stopped growing up around age thirteen. My body kept going, but my brain said, “Nah, I’m good.” Some might call that a problem (go figure), but it’s helped me run rapidly growing companies—and it’s perfect for writing funny, fast-moving adventures for young readers.

My heroes—Alex, Lin, Whiz, and Cleo—have become like family to me. I hope they’ll find a place in your heart too, and that you’ll enjoy their adventures as much as I’ve loved creating them.

The Night Slayer is Book 1 in The Lords of Deminsions by George Jankovic. This book is targeted for middle school readers. But, I thought this book was fantastic; I couldn't put the book down. The characters are so well written and Alex is an interesting main character. I thought the story was enjoyable and it built to the climax that left me saying "NO" when the book ended. The Night Slayer is not a book you want to miss. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

The Night Slayer: The Lords Of Dimensions is an action-packed, high energy, fast paced, mysterious, gripping, un-put-downable, and delightful read! I love this middle grade adventure fantasy! I was intrigued within the first chapter and absolutely hooked laughing out-loud by the second when the main character referred to himself as a beefy pre-breakfast snack for the terrifying monster in front of him. Fans of Percy Jackson and The Avengers are advertised to adore this book and I can see why! The creativity is out of this world yet completely pulls you into the fantasy land created. The characters have very distinct personalities which helps you grow to love them and their banter quickly. The humor and use of funny comparisons is plentiful which is one of the things that led me to fall in love with the Percy Jackson series. A bonus is multiple perspectives throughout the book highlighting each member of the unexpected team in a new light. Needless to say I quickly fell in love with this book due to it containing many elements I love yet retaining a distinct voice and unanticipated sequence of events. I am so excited this book is a series and cannot wait for book two! I highly recommend this book!

Great first book in the series. Action-packed book that’s a cross between Percy Jackson and Harry Potter with epic fight scenes. Excellent world building and characters development. This is a story about the quest for justice and saving loved ones while making lifelong friends along the way. This is a great start to the series and keeps readers wanting to know more!

Such a good book! I really enjoyed reading it. I liked the powers that the characters had. It appealed to my enjoyment of both fantasy and science fiction. The protagonists were really cool and I wish I could meet them in real life. I enjoy hearing the story told from all the different perspectives. Very excited to read the rest of the series, counting down the days until it’s out!

“Fast, funny, and filled with characters kids can relate to”. I look forward to reading the rest of the books

This is the first book in the series, a great read for those who enjoy fantasy adventure stories about a boy who finds he has special powers, who along with friends he makes along the way, has to find a special sword to help stop the creature who is after him.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend reading it.

What worked:
The plot quickly gets into the drama, as Alex rescues a fourth-grader from a bully in chapter one and then finds himself at the bottom of the ocean in chapter two. He discovers he’s a Vela, can communicate telepathically, and can manipulate land, air, and water. As with most middle-grade books, he’s joined by two companions. Lin exhibits superior Vela skills and has visions of the future. She dreams about Alex’s death, and keeping it secret torments her. A boy named Whiz is extremely intelligent, but his fear causes him to freeze up in stressful situations.
The plot is a quest to find the Night Slayer before the main protagonist, Moloch. The Night Slayer is the most powerful sword full of positive energy in the world, and it can be used to defeat all evil. Moloch would love to get his hands on the Blood Snatcher, an indestructible, bloodthirsty sword that pulls the souls out of its prey. Alex, Lin, and Whiz don’t know how they can defeat Moloch, but they’re joined by another Vela named Cleo. She is the captain of a crew called the Vanquishers, and readers may find they’re similar to fearsome pirates. Alex and his friends convince Cleo to join them on their quest, but she wants to locate the formidable weapons for herself. Her secret desire creates an unspoken problem, and readers will anxiously await the moment when the sword is found. Also, Lin’s gentleness contrasts with Cleo’s hardness, but all of the characters immediately notice clear similarities in the girls’ physical appearances.
Whiz is an entertaining and valuable character. As mentioned, he’s frightened of all of the dangers the group encounters, and he’s aware of this weakness. Readers will often read the thoughts in his mind that reflect the “bock, bock, bock” sound of a chicken. Cleo’s disdain for Whiz’s fears and relative weakness creates some amusing moments. On the other hand, readers will feel good for Whiz’s character whenever he successfully uses his elemental abilities to help defend the group. Whiz’s real value is his knowledge, and Cleo labels him with the nickname, The Professor. Whiz seems to know everything about history, and he knows various languages, too. He’s the only character able to read the writing on an ancient map, so Cleo is forced to tolerate him.
What didn’t work as well:
Each chapter focuses on one of the main characters, so readers must remind themselves that their perspectives are constantly changing. Also, there are instances where events are unnecessarily over-explained rather than letting readers infer the information. Conversely, the author creates an exciting climax that will carry over to the book’s sequel.
The final verdict:
Readers must get used to the author’s writing style, but surprises await as the plot moves on. The characters suspect they don’t fully understand Moloch’s plans, and he’s the one who provides the climactic twist. I recommend you try this book for yourself.

About the Book
The Night Slayer is a thrilling adventure that follows the journey of Alex, a young orphan who stays in a group home. On his 13th birthday, Alex receives a mysterious letter from his parents, revealing a hidden world of magic and danger. The letter revealed that he had extraordinary powers and that The Man with No Face, a powerful villain, is determined to capture Alex, and our protagonist must embark on a quest to evade capture and uncover the truth about his powers and his family's past. Who was The Man with No Face? And why would he want to hurt him?

What I Love About It:
The author has crafted a richly detailed world, full of magical creatures, mysterious landscapes, and hidden dangers. The underwater setting adds a unique twist to the story, and the author's descriptions are engaging.

Alex is a likable and relatable protagonist, driven by curiosity to understand his powers and protect himself from harm. His journey is both exciting and emotional, making it easy to become immersed in his story.

The book is filled with action, suspense, and humor, making it an engaging read for kids and adults alike. The author's pacing is well-balanced, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

The story covers themes of courage, friendship, and self-discovery, which are essential for young readers. I find Alex's relationships with his new friends heartwarming and authentic.

Recommendation
I highly recommend "The Night Slayer" to:

Middle-grade readers as the book's themes, tone, and language make it an excellent fit for this age group.

Readers who enjoy stories with magical worlds, action, and suspense will love this book.

The book's themes and content make it an excellent choice for classroom discussions or book clubs.

Rating
I give "The Night Slayer" 4 stars out of 5. The book's engaging storyline, memorable characters, detailed world makes it an amazing read. While some storyline may feel slightly predictable, the author's execution and pacing make up for it.

“A thrill-a-page, fantasy adventure, perfect for reluctant boy readers looking for excitement, suspense – and danger!” The Wishing Shelf

REVIEW
What a wonderfully fun adventure story this is from the talented pen of George Jankovic. Written for 9 – 12 year olds, it’s a fast-paced adventure with a good dollop of fantasy; not only that, it’s filled with memorable characters (good and bad), a twisting plot and plenty of suspense.
So what’s it about? Well, in a nutshell, it’s the story of a boy called Alex (who has purple blood, I might add) who discovers he has – powers (from a note from his mum hidden in a broken pen). He also discovers there’s a Man with No Face who’s out to get him, and he has to get to a place on a map if he’s to be safe. What follows is a smartly plotted adventure as he (and his pals) attempt to get hold of the Night Slayer, a sword of incredible power.
I must say, there’s a lot to enjoy here. Firstly, I loved the pacing. Middle graders like a lot to be happening all of the time; and that’s what you get here. In fact, there’s never a dull moment. Secondly, I also enjoyed getting to know Alex; for me, he’s the best character, a brave lad, determined, the sort who kids enjoy rooting for. And thirdly, having written a number of middle grade books myself, I suspect George Jankovic knows his readers (9 – 12 year olds) and knows how important it is to give them what they want (a daring protagonist, a suspense-filled adventure, and lots of danger!).
So, if you happen to be on the hunt for an accessibly written adventure novel for a young reader (I suspect reluctant boy readers will enjoy it the most), then check out The Night Slayer. I think most readers will enjoy rooting for young Alex, and, as it’s book 1, they’ll be keen to get hold of the sequel!

The Night Slayer is the first of its series, and honestly, the writing is there. The fun is there, and it works for young adults I'd say. I found Alex and Cleo way overpowered in comparison to Lin and Whiz, but, with there being four books, there is a possibility for that to change. They all had different strengths and weaknesses, and overall, it was a fun read. Some of the phrasing was a little off, but once the realization of "that's how it's happening using the characters' povs" that awkwardness lessened. The real issue I had was that it has a very slow start, and Alex seems to learn a bit too quickly for someone who just gained his power. Overall though, it was enjoyable, and I think I will read more of this series.
