An American's petition for a British title becomes his greatest gamble for love.
Massachusetts farmer Johnathan Whittaker arrives in England with a dangerous mission: prove his claim to an earldom before the narcissistic Sir Lightwood can inherit. But claiming the title means renouncing his American citizenship and swearing allegiance to the very king his father fought against.
The Earl's granddaughter, Georgiana Lightwood, is nothing like the proper English roses Johnathan expected. She chases runaway pigs, argues politics, and makes his heart race in ways his failed engagement never did. Captivated by his honest nature and gentle strength, Georgiana finds herself falling for the handsome American-but loving Johnathan means watching him sacrifice everything he holds dear.
From ballrooms where he's taught to hide his American accent to secret garden kisses that could ruin them both, Johnathan must navigate a world of political intrigue and social expectations. As the War of 1812 comes to an end, he faces an impossible choice: return to the life he knows in America, or claim his birthright to save the woman he loves and her family from ruin. Will Johnathan sacrifice his heritage for a title, or will he find a way to claim both his birthright and his bride?
A captivating Regency romance where inheritance meets independence and love conquers all.

I'm absolutely loving the Heirs and Heroes series! I do recommend that you read them in order. The first book is, The Viscount's List, and introduces us to the Lightwood sisters. And to their crazy father.
You're going to love their grandfather and all that he does to thwart their father. And he keeps at it during this second book by inviting a distant cousin from America to come to England and start a petition for his claim to the earldom.
Get ready for lots of surprises and ups and downs! Georgiana and Johnathan are a delightful match. Their story is a bit of a slow burn, and forced distance, and a sweet and swoony love story! I was fully invested and didn't want it to end. I wanted to read quickly and see them get their happily ever after, and yet I wanted to savor it and stay immersed in this family's story! I'm beyond excited for the rest of the sisters' stories and can't wait to see if predictions I've made in regards to them and who they end up with will be accurate. Especially Alexandra! *Squeal!* I need more! But I need to be patient and let Lorin Grace write them.
While you're waiting for the next books like me, go read book one and this one! You won't be disappointed!!!
There are lots of tender scenes between Georgiana and Johnathan. And alongside those tender scenes, the banter between them had me laughing out loud! I was giggling and had my family wondering what was so funny! And the swoon factor *Happy Sigh* had my heart soaring! I will definitely be reading this one again soon!
Content: Some sweet kisses. Some mild peril but nothing graphic.
I received a copy from the author but have also purchased my own copy. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
This was an interesting story. I really enjoyed Johnathan and George. There was enough complexity in the drama of the story and quality of the characters to keep me engaged.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. However, I find it more enjoyable to read each book in sequence. I enjoy the “background “ from previous books. The author creates well developed characters that come alive from the pages of her stories. The hero was not what I would classify as a “traditional “ regency hero. Yet he is loyal, kind and honest. He is easily to like. The heroine is not one to hold to what society or her father expects. She follows her beliefs and values. I enjoyed how they both worked towards each other despite the challenges and circumstances that created challenges for them There are other characters that are lovable and others not as good. The plot is very interesting and doesn’t necessarily follow what I expected with the several twists and turns. I hope the other sisters receive their own HEA in future books. I recommend the author, book and series.
I loved reading through this book as it is a continuation from the first book in this delightful series, but it can also be a standalone book too. It is an entertaining book with some surprising changes that you will not see coming. The book is full of wonderful characters that are unique in their own ways. I enjoyed Georgiana and Johnathan's witty banters and their love for one another. If you like regency historical books that have sweet characters and amazing plots than you will also like this new series by Lorin Grace!
*Thanks to this author for allowing me to read her book in exchange for my honest opinion/review. All thoughts expressed here are my own.
I received an advanced copy of this book and have been so excited to read it. I love the way Lorin has written her characters. Their decisions are not just straight forward. You get to see the many facets of what they need to decide. I really enjoy watching the sisters interact and the ways that they surprise Jonathan. Thanks for a great story, Lorin!
