Who is Jake Maddox? Athlete, author, world-traveler–or all three? He has surfed in Hawaii, scuba-dived in Australia, and climbed the mountains of Peru and Alaska. His books range from the most popular team sports to outdoor activities to survival adventures and even to auto racing. His exploits have inspired numerous writers to walk in his footsteps–literally! Each of his stories is stamped with teamwork, fair play, and a strong sense of self-worth and discipline. Always a team-player, Maddox realizes it takes more than one man (or woman) to create a book good enough for a young reader. He hopes the lessons learned on the court, field, or arena and the champion sprinter pace of his books can motivate kids to become better athletes and lifelong readers.

I like it but wasn’t what it was expected to be. I thought their would be more action in the story based of the title of the book

Max loves playing paintball and looks forward to spending the summer doing so. But Alex, a bully from school, brings his campaign to belittle Max to the paintball league. As Max feels helpless to do anything to stop Alex, he considers quitting paintball and turns his own anger and frustration on his friend Owen and little sister and refuses the help of his team leader. The book provides plenty of spot-on reactions to bullying, and while things aren't resolved with a new-found friendship, at least Max has no longer lost his way. This title might be good to start conversations about dealing with bullies.

From my son: I liked it because it involved paintball and I have only found 2 other books on paintball. I liked the character traits of Max but did not like Alex's. Alex was sort of a bully while Max was nice but could get frustrated easily. I liked the time sequences and stuff like that.

Max is trying to stop Alex, his school bully to quit bullying him. I like the traits of Max which is smart and kind but I don't like Alex's traits which is mean and annoying.
