One hard fall in the rodeo ring.

One maddeningly gorgeous cowboy.

One chance at love she swore she'd never take.

Billie Wallace has spent her whole life trying to prove she's more than the Wallace Ranch's "wild" only daughter. All she wants is a shot at barrel racing―and a purpose beyond crunching numbers in her daddy's office. But when her very first run ends in disaster, Billie lands flat on her back with Ryder Rivers―her childhood crush, her brother's best friend, and the town's notorious heartbreaker―hovering over her.

In all the years she's known him, Ryder has never entertained Billie's shameless flirting. But after her fall, he's suddenly everywhere―showing up to help her when she's hurt, staring at her across the honky-tonk when she's trying to move on with a bronc rider, and encouraging her to explore her dream career.

Before either can really register what's happening, their partnership sparks into much more than just dust and arguments.

Late nights turn into stolen kisses. Stolen kisses turn into something that feels dangerously like forever. Ryder swears he's not the staying kind, but the way he looks at Billie like she's the only woman in the world makes everyone start to wonder if he's ready to stop running…

This physically pains me to write but this book massively missed the mark for me. The start of the book was weird, I felt no connection to either character and didn’t feel their chemistry. There was also basically no plot, the forbidden romance felt so forced, the book was filled with so much repetitive inner dialogue, the sex scenes gave me the ick.

The only parts of the book I actually enjoyed were the parts with the side characters, I’m really excited for the new series and to read Colt’s story.

Such a disappointing end to the series, but I will always love the Rivers brothers with my whole heart.

Thank you to Valentine PR for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

A little disappointed in this final book to a great series. I found my self skimming at times because I was bored. It's full of family gatherings, conversations, and new characters. I feel like Peterson just used this book to set up for her next series. This couple lacks the passion that we get from previous characters.
Yes, there are plenty of spicy scenes but I wasn't as invested in their relationship. I would classify this mmc as a "golden retriever" boyfriend. He is sensitive and has quite a few scenes where he cries. The fmc is fun and wild and is the one who initiates things.
So if you like a basic "hallmark " plot with spice you will enjoy this book. I prefer a little more edge and conflict to my books.

Thank you to the team at Valentine PR Audio for the ALC! I was SO excited to get an early opportunity to listen to this book- I love the series!

4 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶️. *No spoilers*

The final book in the Lucky River Ranch series focuses on Ryder and his childhood friend Billie. In a friends-to-lovers storyline, the book follows their paths from bonding over music (and Taylor Swift!) to navigating grief and staying true to themselves. I liked our FMC Billie, she’s feisty and different than a lot of FMC’s you typically see in other romance novels. I didn’t love that it felt like she was chasing Ryder for a good bit of the story, but that is honestly just a personal preference for me- I think I prefer when “he falls first” in romance novels.

I enjoyed the banter between Ryder and Billie-in and out of the bedroom (these two were SPICY 🥵!), since they grew up together there was that familiarity between them and their families that was sweet and made them finally getting together all the more heartwarming. More than the romance, I actually enjoyed the character development of both Billie and Ryder. Billie finding her voice and Ryder’s healing journey from childhood loss was very powerful and, for me, the best part of the book.

My favorite books in the series were Sawyer & Duke, but Ryder was a fitting end to the series. Can’t believe it’s time to say good-bye to the Lucky River Ranch crew- it’s been one helluva ride 🥹❤️‍🔥. Now, BRING ON COLT 😜!

Jessica Peterson is a cowboy romance queen.
🤠

And our boy Ryder is a true blue cowboy.
Born and raised on a Texas ranch.
Little bit of a playboy persona
But the secret super softy baby brother

Billie
Oh gosh Billie was a wild trip.
She is who she is.
Wild child.
Also born on a generational ranch.
Stuck in a job she hates.
Barrel racer vibes.

She’s his best friends little sister.
Childhood ish friends
They bring out the best in each other.

This was a nice ending to the series.

Lucky River Ranch’s final installment hit all the feels! I’m officially head over heels for all the Rivers Cowboys.

But Ryder came in full swing 🤠

Ryder Rivers, oh, I was waiting for this man! If you know me, you know I love my Cowboys, and he did not disappoint. The youngest sibling and Duke’s twin brother, little bit of a playboy, always trying not to burden anyone with his problems, is guarded, & hates to admit he loves it when Billie comes around and riles him up.

Oh, and he’s the musically talented one out of the family.

Billie Wallace, she’s got spunk, so witty, full of spark, that girl’s confidence is contagious especially with her shameless flirting. She knows what she wants, and it’s him she’s been eyeing her whole life. She’s literally my intrusive thoughts if they came out. 🧡

The dynamic between these two felt so natural; we get glimpses of them in the other books, which made me thrilled to get their full story. Now that we have it, it was perfect.

The banter, the tension, bonding over music, the tenderness, learning to overcome both of their obstacles - I loved it all. Opening themselves to each other and just being in their own bubble of healing. They knew, and I knew it was endgame.

Playboy/broken boy reformed 😌✨

We get a glimpse of Ryder’s possessive side, because a girl has needs, okay, and well ummm BILLIE got him wrapped around her finger.

The spice? Talk about H-O-T. Both characters who ain’t afraid to say what they like.

5 ✨, because I was vibing with the whole book. Lots of laughter with the found family, the dirty jokes, and our spotlight couple.

(Don’t forget to get that bonus epilogue, ya’ll, it’s so good)

I’m so sad this series has to come to an end, but Ryder and Billie’s story wrapped up everything so sweetly. It’s not a goodbye but a hello because this really set the tone for what’s to come in Jessica’s new Double U Ranch series, with Colt being the first book. I just know the hate to love is going to DELIVER. I see those cameos👀

Not me falling for another fictional cowboy like it is my full-time job.

Ryder and Billie’s story is such a heartfelt, flirty finale that completely pulls you in. He is that soft, slightly broken cowboy trying to keep it together, and she is bold, chaotic, and impossible not to love. Their shared history makes everything feel easy and natural right from the start.

What really works is how well they balance each other. Billie pushes, Ryder softens, and their connection grows in a way that feels genuine and earned. The banter is fun, the chemistry is there, and even though the pacing slows a little at times, the emotional moments land exactly where they should.

It feels so good to be back with this family one last time, and the ending ties everything up in a way that feels both satisfying and a little bittersweet. They may not be my top couple of the series, but their story still lingers in the best way and makes for a warm, emotional send-off.

Proof that I will, in fact, fall for every soft cowboy I meet on page.

Huge thank you to Jessica Peterson and Valentine PR for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

i’m sorry, i genuinely have nothing nice to say. the writing of this was all over the place. the chapters have no structure and jump around from scene to scene without ever telling the reader of the previous scene ending, which made it extremely confusing and hard to follow along with.
i understand these characters have known each other for practically their whole lives, but my god the instant love and quick to just all horniness and the way he so easily was like “oh these things i’ve struggled with my whole life i’m just gonna not struggle anymore” it was just extremely unrealistic and not my cup of tea. which was just all the more disappointing bc ive read this entire series and ryder was the ONE i was most excited about and then you do his book like this..

YOU GUYS! This was the absolute perfect way to end the Lucky River Ranch Series. Everything about this book was top notch from start to finish. Ryder and Billie were so good together, I devoured this book. Jessica, Sawyer will always be my favourite iykyk but Ryder is definitely a contender for second place. I'm so excited for Double U, like I'm literally chomping at the bit for Colt's book because ugh i love this world so much! Thank you to valentine pr for this arc.

What a great way to end the series! I felt like Ryder was the brother I knew the least about. We had obviously gotten glimpses of him, but I found myself really enjoying the quieter more sensitive brother. I liked watching him come out of his shell for the girl he had a secret crush on for years. Him and Billie were a hoot. That girl had NO boundaries when it came to flirting and pushing his buttons. I loved every second of that. I loved how caught off guard she was when he started flirting back and showing her he wanted more. I loved how Billie knew when to push and when to not and how much she helped encourage Ryder to embrace his feelings- not necessarily about her but about his grief from the death of his parents. He had been hiding behind hookups with no connection until Billie helped him reconnect with himself. I also loved how Ryder helped Billie realize her dreams and helped her take steps to be able to achieve them. These two were HOT and so so cute together!!

Billie has had a crush on Ryder Rivers since forever ago when he played a guitar game with her. When he helped her through a tough time. But then tragedy struck his family, and ever since then he has kept walls up and never really entertained her flirting. That all changes when Billie flies off of her horse during a ride. It's like the fall affected Ryder- he seemed freaked out. And was genuinely concerned about her. And now he is not only entertaining her flirting but flirting back with her. Billie feels like she needs to pinch herself. Is she reading these signs right? Does he want to explore something with her? She knows he only ever does hook ups. And of course there is the complication of him being her brother's best friend. But Billie has never been one to let other people dictate her life. So she puts herself out there. She tells Ryder how she feels. But he still seems scared. Fine- she knows that she came clean. If he isn't ready, he isn't ready. But she isn't going to wait around. Which is how she gets Ryder's attention again. Which is how she finds out he has wanted this for a long time too. Which is how she gets to experience Ryder in all of his glory. And now he is singing to her again. She is seeing glimpses of the old Ryder. They are planning on telling her brother Colt of course, but when is the right time? It doesn't matter what he says because Ryder Rivers has always been her endgame- as long as he is game so is she.

Ryder has accepted his fate of never pairing off like his brothers have. He is so happy for them and maybe just a smidge jealous, but deep down he is scared to let someone in. Because something could happen to them like it did his parents. He can't go through that again. So he does casual hookups. And he keeps his best friend's little sister, Billie, at a distance. Despite her taunting remarks and her beauty. Despite how she makes him want. He can't go there. But then she gets hurt in front of him. And she opens up to him about her dreams and the challenges she is going through to get to them. And now it is like there is a crack in his chest and his emotions are slowly seeping out. Instead of trying to shove them back in though, Ryder decides it is time to embrace them. He wants to do this with Billie in his life. He realizes he really hasn't been living, and she makes him feel ALIVE. She pushes him to be better and to open up. She pushes him to remember what makes him happy. SHE makes him happy. She makes him want. And after pushing her away one more time, he decides enough is enough. He can't watch her be with someone else. He realizes he has been hers for a long time. And so he goes for it. Consequences with her brother be damned. Because now that she has cracked his heart open, he knows all of this love he has is for her and his family.

I loved the wrap up to the series. The glimpses we got of all the other couples and how much they were encouraging Ryder to go for what he wanted (Billie) and how much they all welcomed his old self with open arms. I liked the sneak peeks we got of Billie and all 5 of her brothers, and I LOVED the sneak peek we got of Colt and his leading lady Laney. One of my favorite tropes is sibling's best friend, and I thought that tension in this one was perfect! I definitely recommend reading this one (and any books in this series) for some mean who fall HARD for their ladies while also talking so so hot in the *bedroom* and treating their ladies like queens (eventually haha).

🔥Dual First Person POV

Ryder is the epitome of a cozy small town romance, fun, flirty, and emotional. I love Ryder and Billie. Ryder is a true cowboy. He’s the ‘baby’ of the family and has always wanted to be the easy child. After his parent’s death he shut down all of his emotions and never showed how much he was struggling. Billie is feisty and hilarious. She’s the wild child but has always felt pressured to be the perfect daughter and feels stuck in her job as the accountant for her family’s ranch. Billie has had a crush on Ryder and has shamelessly flirted with him whenever she could. Ryder always shut it down because she’s his best friend’s little sister. Billie isn’t afraid to put herself out there and express how she feels about Ryder. She challenges him and asks the tough questions. Ryder has always felt weighed down by his grief. When Billie is brave enough to express her feelings, he starts to realize that he can sit with his grief without being pulled under. Ryder also starts to acknowledge his feelings for Billie, but they don’t rush anything. They match each other’s wild energy, their flirty banter is top tier and yet is still emotionally gripping. The Lucky Rivers crew are genuine and original characters.

What a way to end a series!

Ryder and Billie are birds of a feather cut from the same cloth, just in different ways. Ryder retreated into himself after his parent’s death, making himself small and doing what he can to not be a bother. Billie is a bit wild and yearns for a life working outdoors, but saddled with being an accountant for her family’s farm.

Both Ryder and Billie had great growth throughout the book with both of them finally asking for what they want. It was great to see them not only improve themselves, but bring out the best in each other. Plus, their chemistry was fire. I thought this book was a perfect way to end the series, and it was great to see a slice of life with all the characters from the previous books.

Now….when are the Wallace Boys getting their own series…

Thank you to Jessica Peterson and Valentine PR for an advanced copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Ryder is such a green flag! The healthy communication, the therapy, the consideration for Billie's goals and dreams, the guitar, the work ethic, the yearning. I really loved his story and I'm so sad to see this series come to a close.

Colt really ticked me off during this one, but I'm excited to see if he can win me over in a few months when his story releases! I'm really glad we get to stay in this world while we get Billie's brothers stories!

It is with a heavy heart that I leave a part of myself at Lucky River Ranch. And what better way to end this series than with this book, which has become my favorite?

I wasn't prepared for the intensity of the relationship between Billie and Ryder. Between them, it's an unspoken love that has existed for years, an incredible alchemy between soulmates. It's undeniable. A connection that inevitably draws them back to each other.

I knew it. I knew Billie would hold a special place in my heart. Simply because she's the kind of woman who knows what she wants and the kind I want to become. She reminds me of the heroines from the horse movies I used to watch when I was little. I'd love to have her confidence, her self-assurance and her sense of humor. But behind that tough exterior and that free spirit lies someone sensitive and romantic. I absolutely loved everything about her character. She's been forced too often into a box that didn't suit her. But Billie has a wild personality that always comes galloping back.

For a long time, Ryder was a secondary character: a brother, an uncle, a rancher, a businessman but he was always at the top of Billie's list. Ryder is the man who smiles, is easygoing and doesn't make a fuss but suffers in silence. He is proof that the path of grief is long, with its ups and downs but that we always find our spark again. I had tears in my eyes every time he talked about his mother. I loved every word he said: he's a charming, loyal and patient cowboy who deserves to have someone waiting for him when he comes home every night.

I cried for Billie and her dreams, for Ryder, all the things he keeps hidden deep inside and his gentle heart. I also cried for Colt and what happened to him. I can’t wait to get my hands on his book because I know it’s going to devastate me.

But it's okay, the Rivers and Wallace families were there to pick up the pieces. I loved getting to know Tate, Beck, Nash and Mack, protective and devoted brothers. I'll miss them but I'm already looking forward to seeing them again at the Double U Ranch.

what have men done to deserve billie wallace!!!! (even if he is a rivers man!!!!)

nobody does cowboy romances like jessica peterson for me. i am so in love with her books and the small towns and characters she creates!! i am DEVASTATED to be saying good bye to lucky river ranch but this was such a fun way to introduce whats to come and the place we will fall in love with next!

it was practically impossible not to fall in love with billie and ryder from the very start, i loved the little flash back we get to set the scene of how important these two have always been to one another whether they realized it or not hen immediately fast forward into this cute really fun and playful friendship between them. the way billie lived to exasperate ryder was everything and more to me lmao.

the way billie brings ryder back to life was breath taking to say the least. even though there are SO many moments to love through out this entire series i think that this is definitely a contender for my number one favorite lucky river ranch moment. i was in shambles CONSTANTLY and so SO proud of ryder for the little steps he took with billie and especially the ones he took alone to overcome his grief so he could be the man billie deserves and the brother that the rest of the rivers boys have missed seeing.

now that the whole series is out i absolutely cannot wait to do an audiobook binge and revisit all of my favorite cowgirls and cowboys while (im)patiently waiting for double u ranch this fall!!!

📕Book Review📕
Now, I’m not one to cry over books, generally, but when this ended and I realized it’s the end of the Lucky River Ranch series I got a little weepy. This book wrapped things up so beautifully, the found family epic. The swoon, the grief and mental health rep and the way each character comes into their own. Gosh I adored this series, gosh I adore Jessica Peterson’s writing and man oh man was I over the moon fortunate to get to be a beta reader here.

👋 Therapist Take:
This story was complex in how we learned about another Rivers sibling and their personal experience of grief. That’s what I love so much about this series, how it reminds us all that grief is personal and changing all the time and how we manage it changes as we grow around our pain. I loved Ryder and I so enjoyed the playfulness that he and Billie shared. Carving your own path while navigating family expectation, loyalty, guilt, grief, and all the things we thought we might have but can’t is really a challenging journey, but man is it less of a challenge when you ask for support. The story here was important, it’s reminders relevant to likely everyone who reads it and the spice was just downright steamy. I love a cowboy romance (as you’re aware), but the family element of this series, the idea of not being able to sit around the New House table again (well, unless I comfort read which you know I will) made me realize that the end here (though bittersweet) really just makes room for even more new and beautiful things I’m sure Jessica P will deliver to us soon.

Well, giddy-up, cowboy! It's time to get messy with the best friend's sister.

Ryder is the fifth and final book in the Lucky River Ranch series. And wow! Ryder and Billie gives us a spicy cowboy romance that brings all the brothers stories to a close. Hot. Forbidden. Unrequited. And full of family and love all on a ranch.

Ryder is Duke's twin and the "baby" of the family. While each of his brothers have found love, Ryder has been closed off to the possibility. And it all seems to stem from the loss of his parents years ago. He's shut himself off and given up things he cares for, but with the help of his best friend's sister, Billie, Ryder opens up himself to feeling grief and finding himself again.

And then there's Billie. She's an absolute spitfire. Stuck in a family job she hates, she ventures into barrel racing where she feels alive and free. But just when she seems to have found something that gives her life, it all gets taken away. But Ryder comes in as her knight in shining armor and they start reconnecting on another level and it's just what Billie needs. She's always had a thing for Ryder, but with him being her brother Colt's best friend, she knows that the one man she craves can never be hers. So what happens when they start opening up to each other and realizing theres's more to life than what they currently have?

I loved these two together and the taste of forbidden Peterson gave us. Both Ryder and Billie complimented each other well. Billie's fun, flirty and feisty side pushed Ryder out of his comfort zone. She made Ryder see what he was missing out on and Ryder's softer side allowed Billie to see things from a different perspective. Their friendship that was filled with banter and sexual tension slowly turned up the heat and exploded after Ryder allowed himself to feel all the grief and love he held down. And let's just say that these two know how to satisfy each other in all the ways, in AND out of the bedroom.

This was a fitting end to the series where we got to visit each previous couple and the family that they had created. The real treat was the great audiobook narration from Stephen Dexter and Lila Winters. I've hyped up their performances with each book, but I have to give credit where it's due. They give life to the characters and made me fall in love with Ryder and Billie and the whole crew. The feels. The love. The family. I felt it all.
I'm sad that the series has come to a close, but the taste that Jessica Peterson gave us of what's to come in a whole new series? Let's just say that I'm ready for some more cowboy romance!

Hey Alexa…. Play “ She’s in Love with the Boy”

This book was everything. These brothers and this family are everything. Ryder was a fantastic end to a series that I have loved with my whole heart.

I loved everything about Ryder and Billie and the fact that Ryder is my very favorite type of MMC… yeah I’m absolutely say for this man…. 🫠🫠🫠

A Broken Boy, Golden Retriever Cowboy…. Yeah Ryder set the bar in the sky. And Billie…. I could relate to her so so much and I loved everything about her.

✨ Small Town Cowboy
✨ Brother’s Best Friend
✨ Secret Relationship
✨ She Falls First/ He Falls Harder
✨ Feisty FMC
✨ Mental Health Rep

Look I had the highest expectations going into this book, and Jessica surpassed every single one of them. I just loved the entire dynamic between Billie and Ryder from the very first chapter, and loved it even more as Billie teased Ryder within an inch of his life

Also in true Jessica Peterson fashion, we get a bar and a car scene and let me tell you, they are so hot 🥵🥵

But what I really loved about this is Ryder and Billie SAW each other, truly gave each other the space and support to open up and heal, and let down all their walls to each other.

This book was the perfect ending for Lucky River Ranch and this book is going to live rent free in my head for a while. This is one of my favorite Cowboy series of all time and I will forever be in Hartsville Texas.

I'm a little bit disappointed in this if I'm being honest.. It wasn't bad by any means, it just... wasn't my favorite. I feel like everything was happening so fast, I didn't even have time to feel anything. I don't even know if I can say that I felt the chemistry, and it geniunely felt like Billie was the one doing.. everything, which just isn't something I like in romance books...

That being said.. I'm soooooo looking forward to Lainey and Colt's book.. THAT ENDING!!!!

Thank you, Valentine PR and Jessica Peterson, for the ALC of Ryder!

This is the final book in the Lucky River Ranch series, and it’s available now!

I loved this audiobook, the narrators did a fantastic job! I’m a big fan of multiple-POV romances, and having two narrators who execute it well makes such a difference.

This final book really blew me away. It’s definitely my favorite in the series. The yearning and banter were 10/10. Billie was freaking hilarious. Her quick wit and relentless flirting had me smiling the whole time. She did not let up!! And of course, she’s a Swiftie, my kind of gal!

I feel like Ryder’s character stayed more in the background throughout the series, so it was especially nice to finally get to know him and see who he really is. I loved his creative, musical side and how he allowed himself to open up and be vulnerable.

The way this story wrapped up was really sweet. I loved to see how all the Rivers brothers found their person and how much the family has grown. I also did a little eyebrow raise at how the ending set up the next series. I can’t wait to read Colt’s story next!

I’m really sad this is the last book in the Lucky River Ranch series, but I’m glad knowing we’ll see these characters again in Jessica Peterson’s next series.

Billie was such an easy FMC to love. She knew she had a crush on Ryder from the age of ten and never hid it, and I loved that she was willing to put herself out there so openly.

Ryder took longer to come around, mostly because of the grief he was carrying and his fear that he wouldn’t be enough for Billie. Watching her help him open up and work through that was one of my favorite parts of the story.

I will say the first 40% felt a little slow for me, but once they finally stopped fighting what was between them, the story really picked up and I flew through the rest.

The small town family feel is one of my favorite things about this series, and this book delivered that same warmth that made Lucky River Ranch so easy to love.

The last one of the Lucky River Ranch Cowboys! I didn't think they could get any better, but each book trumped the previous one! But no need to be sad, because Jessica is working on her next Cowboy series!

So in Ryder, we follow the youngest River brother. He is the one who wants to please everyone, but doesn't want to deal with the trauma of his parents dying when he was still young. He has been known to be a heart-breaker and is not ready to settle down.

Then we enter Billie. She has had a crush on Ryder since she was little. But never dared to try anything with her brother's best friend, afraid of that he won't condone their relationship.

Billie is the accountant of her family's ranch, but she would rather work with the horses as well, and decides to become a barrel racer. During her first race, she falls off her horse, and Ryder ends up saving her. This event brings them closer together, and Billie finally finds the courage to speak up about her feelings.

Will Ryder reciprocate them? Will Billie be able to tell her family she doesn't wanna be an accountant anymore? Will her brother approve of their relationship? Read it now in this final installment of this amazing cowboy series!

one last trip to Lucky River Ranch🥹

first i have to say my swiftie heart was bursting❤️‍🔥 I absolutely adored all the references!! I loved seeing them as kids and their connection even back then, Ryder really did so many things for Billie and just wanted her happy and always believed in her! Their love story was so beautiful and healing!! They both really started to grow when they finally got together and it was so beautiful to see! I always love seeing scenes with all the characters from the series and their found family is everything to me!! I can’t believe this series is officially over, I have loved every single book!! and Jessica does a great job at the lead up to the next book we are going to received! So excited for Colt!!

The final book in a great cowboy romance series. Brother’s best friend and secretly pining after each other for years, say less! Billie was a girl obsessed and not afraid to push Ryder’s buttons. Although she fell first, he definitely fell harder. I liked the emotional side to the story. He’s the broken one and she's the wild child. This book has romantic love confessions in the rain, some hot jealousy, and plenty of banter. Prepare to laugh, cry, and blush.

If you like the small town ranch stories with found family, swoon, and spice then check out Lucky River Ranch. It is a now completed five book series that follows a group of brothers and their journeys to finding love.
