Settle back, keep a few flashlights handy, bolt the doors get ready to enter Elle Klass’world, where the unexplainable happens and things go bump in the night, but are they real or a figment of a young girl’s battered imagination? Eye of the Storm is one of those psychological thrillers that will leave you looking over your shoulder, listening to strange sounds and delving into
your own past to be sure you didn’t miss a family member or two.

Eilida lies unconscious in a hospital bed after fleeing from a horrendous scene of death and its gruesome aftermath. Sunshine, who works at the local newspaper becomes obsessed with finding out who the unidentified girl is and what happened to her. The webs of this tale run deep and entrap her in a world of nightmares, horrific memories and strange events as these two strangers are drawn together by an inexplicable, yet powerful force. Did fate deem that their paths would cross? How can two women share the same mental imagery? They’ve never seen each other, but there is something otherworldly going on. The question is what? Is it possible to connect with another so deeply you could take over their life or is it all a terrible dream belonging to only one of them?

Pay close attention as Elle Klass tries to strip away your skills to ferret out the answers ahead of time, by creating a whirlwind of action, twisted plotting and pure terror! I love it, I want more, but I admit, I will be sleeping with the lights on for a while as the unknown plays hide and seek with my mind.

I received this copy from Elle Klass in exchange for my honest review.

Eye Of The Storm is definitely a different type of read for me, normally I stick to romance so it was interesting getting into this one which I'd consider a light paranormal thriller coupled with some mystery.

The story introduces you to two very different women that share a special connection. Eilida becomes the victim of a murderer, but instead of dying she survives in a comma. Sunshine becomes obsessed with Eilida and can't help herself, she has to know what's happened to Eilida. This of course brings a lot of unwanted attention onto herself.

There's a lot of surprises, twists and turns that leaves you interested and with more questions. I enjoyed the story because it was a bit strange with the paranormal aspects and the mystery was very intriguing. It was also pretty creepy. I think this is a great book for lovers of thrillers and horror type books.

I have a new favourite author. This book is a gem of a read written by an extremely talented author. However, be warned. It’s not advised to turn these pages if you have anything pressing which needs attending to. Constantly explaining to my husband that I couldn’t be disturbed until I had all the answers didn’t go down to well. There’s nothing like a good mystery and nothing gets done in my house until it’s solved.
You don’t get all the information straight off, you’re tantalisingly drip-fed. At first, there was the ‘what is happening to me’ theme. Much is happening to Sunshine. Then there is the twins, doppelgangers and the mystery deepens. Connected minds and dreams and some drastic twists and turns. Now I’m puzzling over everything. At this point, I’m paying close attention to every detail as the hunger to know has me in its grips.
Then lastly comes the cascade of shockers and an explosion of many truths. I know anyone reading this will not understand what I’m saying, but I’m reluctant to reveal anything of this brilliant plot. I could now tell you how each character is real and substantial, talk about the plot or the fine-tuned descriptions but I won’t. All anyone needs to know is that this is writing at its best. You will have to pick your own copy up and go on this journey yourselves. I’m off to immerse myself in more of the authors work. I’m now of the belief the housework can wait until the winter.
Most highly recommended.

Book Review originally published here: http://www.iheartreading.net/book-tou...

I’ve read so many paranormal books already that it takes a lot to surprise me. Eye of the Storm: Eilida’s Tragedy managed to do just that. With an original plot, a character relationship that kept me guessing and dropping hints along the way without ever giving away the big reveal, this book is a little gem, the kind of read you just have to love.

Eilida’s curiosity gets piqued when she hears a disturbance at her neighbor’s house. Instead of minding her own business, she decides to investigate. But the scene at the house is so shocking she runs into the mountains, while a thunderstorm breaks out overhead. After slipping on the wet floor, she plummets down and slams into a large boulder. Then she’s transported to Lyden, where a woman named Sunshine becomes engrossed in her story, and their lives become more entangled than either of them thought possible.

The book left me guessing until the end. Both Eilida and Sunshine are engaging characters, but it was the plot, and the questions piling up that was most interesting to me. If the author can come up with any more of these gems, I’ll gladly read them.

A deranged serial killer, a violent thunderstorm, a neighbor inadvertently witnessing the gruesome scene. Seen by the perpetrator as she peeks through the backdoor, she tumbles down the side of a mountain trying to escape, sustaining a concussion and near-fatal injuries. Who is she? And what is the bizarre connection that links her with Sunshine, an ordinary young woman working as a receptionist at the local paper?

This psychological paranormal thriller, reminiscent of the “Twilight Zone,” is a chilling tale with mystery and intrigue saturating every page. Told through the viewpoint of two different individuals, just when you think you have an inkling what the link between them might be another surprise comes out of nowhere, drawing you deeper and deeper into this bizarre tale.

Vivid imagery, strong characters and an intricate plot make this a story mystery fans won’t be able to put down. If you love a good murder mystery with paranormal overtones you’re sure to enjoy wading through the author’s cryptic miasma of clues trying to determine how everything ties together from the first page all the way until the heart-stopping climax.

The author kindly sent me an ARC to review.

"Eye of The Storm: Eilida's Tragedy" is a superbly crafted novel. The story isn't so much written, as woven - the threads combining to paint a picture that left me stunned and a little shell-shocked.

I found the book interesting, then gripping as the excitement and suspense built... then heart-breaking, and finally, at the end, shocking (all in a good way!).

I don't know what I was expecting from this book. Having read most of Elle Klass's other work, I knew the writing, and the quality of the story, would be way above average. What I got was far better than I could have hoped for!

My message to Ms. Klass: Keep up the good work and please write a lot more!!

My review is based on the audio book.

I had the awesome experience to listen to the audio book. The narrator did a fantastic job. Her voice was soothing and tone changed between the characters flawlessly. Overall I really enjoyed my audio experience and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good suspense.

My jaw is still on the ground after listening to this book. I was impressed with the story. It listens fast and keeps you engaged the entire time. I liked the characters. I found them to be believable and connected to them. My favorite part was the ending because it was completely unexpected. My mouth hurts because my jaw dropped so low for so long. It was amazing. I really enjoyed this and plan on sharing it with my suspense loving friends.

'Eye of the Storm' is a departure from what I normally read, but I'm glad I made the effort, especially if it's the first book of a trilogy. More to enjoy! I found myself engaged by the plot and the characters. caught up in the mystery of what I was reading. This is the first Elle Klass book I've read, but it won't be the last.

I have to admit that this book was a slow start for me. I almost gave up at one stage because I felt a little lost as to what was happening, but then there was the "ah ha" moment and it clicked!! I figured some things out, (though I wasn't right where I thought the plot was going!), and bam, the book took off. It was awesome!!!

I'm not going to summarise the plot because it is much better for you to go into it blind and because I could spoil something easily, so all I'll say is that it's a psychological thriller that brings it's A game! You think you know what is going to happen, but let me tell you that you don't!! There were times when I was reading and I was thinking to myself... what is going on here, but then the author throws a curve ball and it's like a light bulb going off!!

The characters were all well written too, though I did find myself confused at times between Eilida and Sunshine and who was doing what! But that was the fun of the plot!!! It made me think and kept me on my toes.

In all, this was quite the surprise to me. I haven't heard of this before and didn't know what to think going into it! What I got was a well written thriller that kept me hooked till the very end. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Belle Burkhart read this well. Her tones and cadences were really good and she was able to draw me in. She had plenty of tones and voices for the characters and was clear and concise. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Eilida suffers from amnesia, the result of a head injury when she frantically runs away from a horrific murder scene. While Eilida recuperates in the hospital, Sunshine, a local newspaper receptionist, not only begins to have strange dreams and paranormal occurrences connected to Eilida’s past, but also takes on Eilida’s character at times. After further investigation including sneaking into Eilida’s hospital room, Sunshine concludes that she must be Eilida’s twin. Yet to confirm her theory, Sunshine has to retrace Eilida’s steps, beginning with the murder investigation. As the puzzle pieces come together slowly, the truth unfolds. But it is more surreal than one can only imagine.

Rising author Elle Klass takes the paranormal to a different level in her latest novel. While there are scenes reminiscent of the movie The Sixth Sense, Klass draws readers into the dark and disturbing world of two young women. Eilida is desperately trying to recall her memory. Concurrently, Sunshine, who appears to be quite a levelheaded gal on the cusp of marriage, begins seeing people that no one else sees—not to mention that the weather suddenly turns stormy with her apparitions. But before a scrolling marquee of “I see dead people” runs across reader’s thoughts, Klass’s plot splits into different directions—between Sunshine’s seemingly split personality and her relationship with one guy (Jay) while she prepares to marry another (Jerry), her involvement in the murder investigation, and her delving into parapsychology and hypnosis in the hope of getting answers to her personal connection with Eilida.

In the first book in The Ruthless Storm Trilogy, Klass’s sinister tale is replete with a small but well-developed cast, many of whom function as foils to enhance the principal characters, Eilida and Sunshine. Of course, included in the mix are a tight handful of antagonists who throw all sorts of twists and turns into the plot. Speaking of twists and turns, Klass’s narrative includes a unique point-of-view design. Alternating between the first-person viewpoints of Eilida and Sunshine, and a third-person unnamed narrator, Klass cuts down the confusion between the various voices and adds nuance in the process to those title changes by replacing each woman’s name with symbols: Eilida (◊◊◊◊◊) and Sunshine (☼☼☼☼☼). While all of these elements keep the plot flowing, Klass also throws in a few hot and steamy romance scenes, as well as quirky but eye-catching word plays, such as Dr. Jekal, Eilida’s chemistry professor, and Dr. Weered, Sunshine’s hypnotist.

An absolute thriller from beginning to end, Eye of the Storm: Eilida’s Tragedy closes with a cliffhanger that will keep readers anxiously waiting for its upcoming sequel, Calm Before The Storm: Evan’s Sins.

This is one of those stories where the title speaks for itself. "Eye Of The Storm: Eilida's Tragedy" The story begins with a short poem entitled; "Twas the Night Before Death". Believe me, it's worth reading. Not just because it's a great short poem but because once you finish the story, you'll see it's significance. Then the author; Elle Klass takes us into a prologue where she introduces us to Eilida, a woman living in the woods who's not that all afraid of the wood creatures but is terrified of storms. The prologue opens where there's a lot of signs that a storm is coming and she's deciding on whether or not to meet with her friends in town for pizza. When she decides to meet with them and before she prepares to clean herself up, she notices that one of her neighbors are arguing and causing a lot of chaos in their house. After she leaves her house and is preparing to get into the car, the signs of a storm coming are stronger and she hears whimpering in her neighbor's house. She goes inside the house to investigate and when she sees the results of their "argument", it horrifies her and she takes off running. By now the storm hits and combining with her fear of it, she starts running into trees, cutting herself and she soon slips and falls into a shallow river. She becomes unconscious after hitting a huge rock in the river. She is soon discovered and brought to the hospital where she soon meets, Sunshine a reporter for a local newspaper. After Eilida recovers, Sunshine devotes a lot of time to find out what happened to Eilida and when she finds out more about her like digging deep into her childhood and talking to her friends, she finds that she admires her a lot despite them having completely different personalities and different views on things. Now you'll probably want to know where the thriller part of all of this is. Let me just say; it's not just in the prologue and I won't give too much away but when I first found out that Sunshine and Eilida where completely different characters, I sort of figured out what kind of character Sunshine was. Now was my assumption right? That you will have to find out for yourself because it is DEFINATELY worth the read. I can see that Elle Klass is a fan of the classic Alfred Hitchcock films but of course put her own spin on it. This is definitely old fashion story telling with a little bit of modernization.

Eye of the Storm is a brilliant, intense, and shocking novella.

Sunshine is the epitome of her name. Her life is perfect—from her job at the local newspaper despite a few annoying co-workers to her wealthy boyfriend who is days from proposing—and full of sunshine until a “Jane Doe” shows up at the local hospital and sends her life into a tailspin. Not only does the woman’s appearance become the main focus of the newspaper, but she become Sunshine’s. Feeling attached to the woman somehow, Sunshine sets out to find out who she is and what happened to her.

In her pursuit to find out all she can about this woman, Sunshine begins to suffer memory loss, hallucinations, and dreams of a life she didn’t live. Her connection to Eilida, the woman in the hospital, becomes apparent, but the how they are related remains a mystery to Sunshine.

Things happen in the novel that seemingly don’t make sense, like how can Eilida’s boyfriend not know she is in the hospital when Eilida’s roommate, parents, and school all know, and they frustrated me at first because I honestly thought they were holes in the plot. I was wrong, boy was I wrong. Okay, so if I say much more, I’ll be giving too much away, and you have to read this for yourself to find out the big twist ending.

One more thing, the epilogue will definitely, leave you wanting the next book in the trilogy. Speaking of…

Oh, I forgot to mention that I listened to the audio version of this novella (a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review), and the narrator made a perfect Sunshine. At first I thought she sounded too young, but once I got to know Sunshine and just how sweet and innocent she is, I knew the narrator was perfect for her.

One night Eilida notices that something isn't quite right in the Turnwells household, a family who lives across the road from her. When she goes to investigate, what she discovers is beyond belief, making her feel sick. In her panic, she runs through the neighbouring woods causing her to trip and fall, rendering her unconscious.

Sunshine works in the office of the Lyden newspaper, where she is highly respected. Jerry is her long term boyfriend who is very considerate and they spend most of their free time together.

When Sunshine arrives at work one morning, the usually quiet office is in an uproar and she is informed that a young lady with unknown identity has been brought to the Lyden hospital. She then starts having experiences such as seeing someone who disappears in the next minute, the weather taking a turn for the worse even if short lived. She starts having dreams which appear to be related to Eilida! She has this compulsion to find out what really happened to Eilida and takes a personal interest in the case but as one thing unravels, another puzzle surfaces.

The story is very intricately written and it's impossible to guess as to what happens next. As it progresses the questions which keep cropping up are "Is Sunshine really Eilida or vice versa"?" Are they related"? It's an interesting and intriguing paranormal story. When I reached the end, which is not all bad, I still wanted to know more. As this is the first book in the Ruthless Storm Trilogy, I for one can't wait to read the next instalment.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and I am very grateful as this is one of the stories that will stay with me.

Reviewed for Readers Favorite.

Eilida is planning to meet up with friends at the local bar, but instead something draws her to the neighbors house. As she slow sneaks over and looks in, what she sees is so horrific and terrifying that she takes of running, it has started storming hard, but she just keeps running until she slide down a hillside landing in a heap against a rock. Sunshine is a receptionist at the Lyden Times Newspaper and she loves her neat and orderly world, only this day nothing is neat and orderly. A young woman was found in the woods with no identification and no memory, strange thing is she looks just like Sunshine only with different color hair. Eye of The Storm: Eilida's Tragedy (Ruthless Storm Trilogy) (Volume 1) follows Sunshine as she turns reporter and tries to discover what sent this woman running and ending up in her town. Elle Klass gives us a wonderful tale of tragedy, survival, repressed memories and recovery.

Eye of The Storm centers around Eilida's fear of storms. She hates them, and as the story progresses we slowly learn the reasoning. Sunshine on the other hand can never remember a day of rain, but as she investigates this case, she is suddenly plagued by storms. Elle Klass creates a compelling story using tragedy, survival, guilt, repressed memories, visual triggers and storms to create a tale that empcompasses so much more than you expect. The tragedy of three families are told in this one story. It is a well written and compelling story that is worth the read. Great for young adults and adults as well.

A challenging read from the mystical realm!

Author Elle Klass takes a bold step into the mystical and paranormal genre with her Eye of the Storm. The title itself is open-ended, as readers will discover, and Klass leaves readers with the notion that the storm is not over, its effects spreading widely into a world of shadows and unknowns.

Klass apparently has a streak of playful wit as she sets up her story for her readers. Be sure you read every word of her book carefully or you’ll miss it. I did, until a fellow reader explained. Klass plants her challenge, and buries deep other nuances for the reader to figure out. After all, you’ve now entered Elle Klass’s mystical world.

Fans of the paranormal genre will welcome Eye of the Storm to their reading shelf. It’s a fresh take on the off-center, the off-kilter, and the unexplainable world without the clear-cut boundaries of reality.

But Klass is not content to deliver a neat little cookie-cutter story for her readers. Instead the ending is the beginning of yet another mystery with an edge as sharp and penetrating as a precision scalpel, and yet as murky as the mystical twilight zone.

Writing about things or an “existence” that reeks with the unexplainable must be difficult and a challenge for a writer. I tip my eReader to Klass’s debut entry into the paranormal genre and give her Five Stars for Eye of the Storm.

This is a great psychological thriller. Eilida begins to have strange visions. She feels compelled to travel to a different town to investigate a disappearance. She has never investigated a case before. In this town, people mistake her for the missing girl, Sunshine. They believe that she just dyed her hair. She takes on Sunshine's life and boyfriend, even though she is supposed to be getting married.
Sunshine is found in a hospital. She fell down a hill during a storm. The detectives believe that Sunshine might have witnessed the murders that had taken place across the street from her house.
Eilida and Sunshine don't cross paths. Eilida goes to the hospital but doesn't go into her room. Would they have recognized each other? Are they twins? Why don't they know about each other?
Eilida doesn't know if she's losing her mind or not. She likes Sunshine's life and boyfriend. She's becoming distant from her fiancee. She even visits a specialist to see if she's okay.
From here, the story takes on more twists and turns. The ending is expected and yet not expected. You'll just have to read it to find out.

Eye of the Storm” is a work of art. Elle Klass’ construction of a story that touches the heart, tingles the spine, and boggles the mind, begins with a chilling, telling and beautifully-done poem entitled “Twas the Night Before Death.” It grabbed me and wouldn’t let go right then and there. From there, she pulls no punches. She dives right in to a story that leaves the reader panting, desperate for more and more. Despite this, you never lose track of this wonderful story’s train or who is speaking at any given time as the pace moves toward an ending that you will not see coming. Speaking of the characters, Eilida is one whom you will both feel with and for. I won’t give anything away, but I will say that Elle Klass is a wonderful author and I am looking forward to reading more and more of her.

With Eye of the Storm: Eilida's Tragedy, Elle Klass has created a thrilling paranormal suspense story with a touch of horror. With Eilida and Sunshine, Eye of the Storm: Eilida's Tragedy comprises believable characters, having to deal with partially unsettling situations and interesting interactions to solve a set of crimes. It took me a while to buy into the story, then I had a great time reading - this is a very intriguing read. I was really drawn into the story when reading the chapter 'Opportunity', thrilled to solve the mystery 'together with Sunshine'. This is for you if you like a thrilling paranormal suspense with a slight horror streak.

A thrilling book and/or series to read again. I'm eagerly waiting to read the other volumes of the trilogy.

Recommended.

I was given this ARC for an honest review.
This book was very exciting. This was the first time I read a book by Elle Klass. I was had many twists and turns. It had excitement and had me asking tons of questions. I did like the book and I did like her writing but I was confused for awhile that I had to go back and re-read the narrator parts again because of the parts were the narrator was speaking. Sometimes it seemed as it was Sunshine or Eilida speaking which was is where the confusion was other than that I really enjoyed this book. That is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5,
I think that others should read this book since I think it was really good.
Thanks Elle for a great read!!!

Thanks a lot for sending me this book as a giveaway, that was a wonderful surprise.
A great psychological thriller that kept me glued to the book till the end. The characters were amazingly drawn that I felt like watching a movie. I loved Sunshine and Eilida so much. But let me ask, as that wasn't clear to me, Eilida used Sunshine as a vehicle to deal with her memories and tragedy, But weren't they sisters, twins, despite their birth dates and identical looks? and what happened to Sunshine after all that? I just can't stop thinking about that. Waiting for volume two of the triology!
Thanks a lot for that amazing book.

This is a Thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. The story follows the two main characters: Eilida, who is in the hospital with amnesia from a fall and Sunshine, a receptionist at a local paper who becomes fascinated with Eilida's story. As the story progresses and they find themselves with a psychic connection to each other you must keep reading to figure out what that bond is about. There are great twists and turns in this story, you won't be bored. In fact when I finished it I had questions running through my mind for two hours after! It was a great read and ended all too soon.

This is a good Psychological Thriller written in the paranormal category but is more a horror. The book is well written and the plot is bizarre, but something was missing for me in the excitement area. This is my first read by the author, Elle Klass. It is an enjoyable story, however, I didn't care for the narrator, Belle Burkhart. To me it sounded like a little girl was reading it. She delivered the story well enough, just the little girl voice was off for me. I did like the poem at the beginning of the story - very clever!

This audio book was gifted to me from a book event contest.

Wow, I loved this book! It's the first one I've read by this author, but I definitely want to read more by her. I also want to read the rest of this trilogy. Edge of your seat suspense, and well developed characters make this a great book! Some questions weren't answered and still have me puzzled. I guess I'll have to read the others in this series so I can understand. Check it out, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
