Nakatsu's mom is in town, and she has plans for her son: she wants him to go home after graduation to take care of the family business! Volume 20 is basically a “Will they finally figure it out?” marathon—and the answer is still no. Between festivals, competitions, and the usual identity-close-call bingo, Mizuki keeps dodging the truth like a pro. Nakatsu’s internal monologue deserves its own comedy spin-off at this point. Four stars for being both ridiculous and addictive.

Daripada mengeksplorasi fenomena soal gay love, I guess tema yang diberikan Hanakimi lebih menekankan pada panseksualisme: I love you no matter whether you're a boy or a girl. Kesan itu semakin kuat setelah Sano mengungkapkan perasaan itu pada Mizuki untuk menjawab pertanyaan: "Apakah aku terlihat seperti perempuan?". Sano menggunakan kata "like", sih. Bukan "love". Baik Nakatsu, Nakao, dan Akiha, semuanya menyukai seseorang secara spesifik, bukan karena gender orang tersebut. Cuma dr. Hokuto Umeda yang terang-terangan bilang dia nggak tertarik sama perempuan karena sebal dengan kakak yang selalu otoriter padanya sejak dia kecil sampai sekarang.

Sungguh aku berharap ada cerita serupa dari penulis muslim dan membawakan tema Islam yang berani mengeksplorasi masalah ini secara lebih mendalam dan empatik, tentunya dengan resolusi yang tak bertentangan dengan nilai Islam. Karena cinta itu menyakitkan. Lebih menyakitkan lagi bagi mereka yang bukan heteroseksual.

Backstory for the Reread: Pregnant me is trying to knock out a whole bunch of house projects. One of those projects was mounting additional bookshelves and digging my manga out of storage.

After rereading for the books I already owned for the ??? time, I have finally hit new material! I know how this is likely to work out because of all the dramatizations I've consumed, but for some reason, I never returned to the manga?

Anyways, this is my fluffy avoiding-my-bitey-toddler read at the moment and it's almost over!

The Japanese drama has tainted me because I only remember how ridiculous they ‘resolved’ the issue of Nakatsu’s mom not agreeing with his decision of becoming a professional soccer player. Like I said in the previous volume, we have hit the lull point of this series. It’s just dragging itself to the end now. The only thing that happens is Sano kind of confesses but Mizuki is too clueless to realize. Also, Nakao confesses on Valentine’s Day. I still love the characters and this is probably still one of my favorite mangas of all time. ~3.2/5

and Nakatsu's story arch is so wholesome and OOOF he's still my favorite character
also, I like Dr Umeda way more the second time through. I think it's because I understand his type of personality more, and I think I relate to him a little, unlike when I was 14😛

Before I took a break from this series and finally, like finally got around to finishing this and already getting near the end. Really good series. Give it a read and check out the show as well. More than one version but still same story.

Very fun. I'm so proud of Nakatsu. And Sano. And Mizuki. I loved Io being in this one too, filling in for Umeda and even wearing the coat. Normally I don't care for Nakao or Nanba, but I actually kind of enjoyed their stories. I can't believe I've almost reached the end of Hana-Kimi!

The difference between being oblivious and being slow. Sano was hinting very heavily but on the opposite side, it was all about "oh he's friendly". There was a nice part about dreaming about job and being worried as a parent, I like how the series uses varied ages and personalities.
