Quinnève Liogenoriggia has been cursed to aid a stranger once each century. Bound to a cruel spell woven by a jealous prince, the only way to break it is to fall in love and be loved in return. But two weeks has never been enough...and love was never the point. Until now.
Mavromichaeli Bassiano is a washed-up knight with nothing left to fight for, until Quinn crashes into a tavern brawl and binds herself to his side. Sarcastic, broken, and entirely unqualified for heroism, Mav agrees to help break her curse mostly because he doesn’t believe in love, especially not the kind that has a countdown.
Together with a meddling hedge witch, a star-born cat, and a fugitive cartographer, Quinn and Mav cross treacherous landscapes, misfire magical potions, and inch closer to something real. But as time slips away, Quinn must decide whether to risk heartbreak for the first time in centuries, and Mav must prove that love isn’t about time at all.
A romantasy full of lyrical longing, sharp banter, and soul-deep devotion, A Fortnight to Forever is for readers who know love is the truest form of magic and the cruelest kind of countdown.
She scoffed. “You are not my type.” Liar. The look in her eyes yesterday? That wasn’t indifference. I caught her chin between my thumb and forefinger, guiding her to look at me. “I’ll be whatever type you want me to be.” *SWOON*
The emotions this book took me through!! I had to take a moment to process before I could even write my review. Alycia began with despair and sadness, created hope with a huge side of yearning, crushed my heart, then picked up the pieces and put it back together.
This is a story about holding onto hope even when things seem their darkest and about how you just cant put a timestamp on love.
Quinn is cursed. Cursed to sleep for 100 years then wake to help someone in need. She has just two weeks, a fortnight, to help someone with a quest before she sleeps for another century. One caveat; if Quinn can find true love while she is awake it will break the curse. But, she has long given up on that being something that she could even hope for. On her third time waking, she meets Mav.
Mav is a disgraced knight who has stopped living and is just existing. Going through each day doing just what he must to survive to the next. When Quinn enters his life and offers him assistance he takes her up on the offer, not really understanding just what he agreed to. And so their journey begins. A cursed woman, a broken ex-knight and a quest they must complete before Quinn goes back to sleep.
Add in a hedge witch, a talking cat and a cartographer with a perfect memory, and you have an amazing story that made me hope, laugh, cry and despair all while keeping a hold me in a way only the best books do. The banter is on point, the sass is sassy and the world and characters that Alycia created feel real and made me love them.
If you like a slow burn romantasy with all the emotions, and an amazing story, then this is a book you need to read. The magic, characters, the world and the plot weave together to create a book I will not soon forget.
Thank you to Alycia E. Anderson for the opportunity to read this as an ARC. This book is just one more reminder of why I will always read every book that you write.
I closed this book with happy tears in my eyes, it was that beautifully romantic and tender.
This story feels like a modern fairytale wrapped in poetry. It follows Quinn, a woman cursed to wake for only a fortnight every hundred years, destined each time to help someone before returning to her endless sleep. When she awakens this time and meets Mav… everything changes. What begins as a mission quickly turns into something deeper a connection, longing, and a love racing against time.
Despite the short window, their relationship feels earned and deeply emotional. The banter made me grin, the vulnerability made my heart ache in the best way, and the moments of quiet tenderness were pure magic. It has that whimsical fairytale atmosphere, but for a mature audience sweeping, lyrical, and surprisingly profound.
What stood out most were the themes woven throughout: healing, communication, choosing love even when the odds are impossible. The romance is equal parts sweet and aching, with those poetic lines that make you pause and reread. I absolutely adored both Quinn’s strength and Mav’s steadfastness, two characters who feel like they found exactly who they were meant for, even if time wasn’t on their side.
The ending? I was crying happy tears. Soft, emotional, hopeful and utterly perfect.
I loved this book so much. It’s romantic, poetic, heartwarming, and left me feeling like I’d just woken from my own fairytale. Thanks to the author for the gifted ARC.
Time does not wound everyone equally. For some, it passes like a gentle tide; for others, it becomes a sentence — a cycle of sleep and awakening, of love forever interrupted. In A Fortnight to Forever, Alycia E. Anderson transforms time itself into a character, cruel and tender in equal measure, the silent witness of lives caught between fate and desire.
Quinnève — Quinn — awakens after a century of slumber, her lungs filling with the dust of forgotten years. Cursed to live only for a fortnight before returning to her endless sleep, she steps once more into a world that has moved on without her. There, she meets Mav, a former knight haunted by failure and disillusion. He drinks to dull the noise of memory; she walks barefoot through rain and ruin, seeking redemption through the salvation of another. Their meeting feels less like chance than destiny fulfilling its own prophecy.
Through them, Anderson speaks of love as Schmitt might — not as passion’s fire, but as recognition. Love here is not born of youth or impulse; it is the fragile discovery of two beings who have both known loss too intimately to take affection lightly. The bond that unites them — a magical tether linking their souls — becomes the image of every invisible connection that ties one heart to another: empathy, forgiveness, and that quiet longing to be understood.
Anderson’s writing has the elegance of melancholy. Her words flow with the rhythm of rain against glass, filled with both silence and music. Behind the fantasy lies a profound reflection on what it means to live, to hope, and to start again. Each page carries a question: how many awakenings do we need to finally learn how to love ?
A Fortnight to Forever is not simply a tale of magic; it is a meditation on rebirth, on the courage to open one’s heart even when time itself seems determined to close it. When the final page turns, one feels a strange peace — the kind that comes when fiction reminds us of our own capacity for tenderness.
I received an e-ARC of this book. This is my honest review.
Book facts: 🌟4.75 2🌶️ 📖It's a mid-length book 👫First person, dual POV Fast Pacing Kind of a Sleeping Beauty retelling
🔔Warnings! Don't pick up this book if you don't like: -Insta Love/lust, the MCs only have a fortnight, so it's completely understandable -Miscommunication. Just like the above is necessary for the type of plot. Normally, I despise miscommunication trope, but in this book it was needed.
The story follows Quinn, who is cursed to wake only for a fortnight every 100 years. Each time she becomes tethered to someone, and she's compelled to help them. This book was honey-glazed; it was the sweetest story, with the most endearing yearning and some plot twists that made me cry and scream some very unladylike words at the author. It's a deeply touching love story of two people who need tremendous healing and find what it takes to do so in each other. This book hits hard for many reasons, but it's all worth it.
For adults who still believe in fairy tales, this book will sweep you away. A Fortnight to Forever is a beautifully written, poetic story that delivers all the fairytale magic, but for a more mature audience. Fans of The Princess Bride and Ella Enchanted will adore this whimsical love story. I devoured it and fell for every single character, especially the supporting cast. I don’t often reach for fantasy, but this one completely stole my heart. My only complaint? It ended too soon! I could have easily read another 200 pages.
A Fortnight to Forever is a breathtaking stand-alone romantasy novel written by the insanely talented and creatively brilliant Alycia E. Anderson.
Alycia presented me the opportunity to read in both the BETA and ARC phase of A Fortnight to Forever’s writing process. The absolute honor I hold in my heart for being on this journey with Alycia is one I cherish with the utmost gratefulness. This book, this love story, is one that transcends all romantasy expectations.
This is a book that organically displays fast and true love in its purest form. It’s a book that displays concrete examples of how deeply rooted wounds can make an everlasting impact on our decisions. It’s a book that brings wit and humor to brighten up the heavy moments. It’s a book that breaks the romantasy blueprint, leaving you breathless.

Every aspect of the Kingdom of Avandria was thought out. Questions that formed organically as the reader were answered as we walked through the story with our main characters. From the overall political structures and history of the kingdom, to the conflict between the gifted and ungifted, to even the cultural differences between each village, Anderson’s attention to detail and care for her story was thoughtfully designed with remarkable depth.
Anderson reveals the layers of power, conflict, and history without ever overwhelming the story. This is done with clever writing by making her side characters equally as important to the main story. Having one companion be the “history expert” because of his gift and the other be a “master of communication” (amongst other things…) because of her gift, we find ourselves naturally learning about the world and its conflicts as we move through the story.
A Fortnight to Forever has a deeply original magic system by dividing it into two tiers—higher and lower order magics. Higher order magic giftings (all beginning with the letter T”) involve drastic earth and weather bending and mental and soul manipulations. Lower order magic gifts (or- those that begin with “H”) are known as a softer, or a “less than” magic that aren’t viewed as necessarily threatening. The higher order magics were known as complex, and often utilized for Royal use, while the lower order magics were more accessible to the outskirts and small villages of the kingdom, rooted more in everyday practices such as healing, elemental manipulation, or enchantment through song or craft. Those not gifted at all? Banished. Or - taxed heavily and permanently scarred on their face to show their fault of being ungifted. This thoughtful structure opened the opportunity to explore themes of power, privilege, and ingenuity, showing that greatness does not always come from grand abilities. In the novel’s climax, three of our main characters of lower order magic combined their abilities to change the course of the story, shifting the tide of conflict and proving that collaboration, creativity, and understanding of one’s limitations can rival even the most dominant forces. Through this layered system, Anderson not only built a believable magical world but also reinforced the message that true strength often lies in unity and the subtle power of the overlooked.
A Fortnight to Forever has a beautifully crafted love story, skillfully guiding the characters from mere acquaintances to quickly loyal friends, and then to a state of poetic yearning that unfolded both quickly and naturally. Anderson captured the ache of longing with remarkable precision—never repetitive, never overwrought—allowing emotion toflow effortlessly through every page. The growth of love into a burning, undeniable desire felt beautifully authentic, and her restraint in depicting the romantic moments made them all the more powerful. Each word was chosen with poetic grace and a natural rhythm that resonated deeply. The result was a story so beautifully emotional and organically told that it leftthe reader completely satiated, as though they had experienced love itself.
A Fortnight to Forever exceeded every expectation I had for the romantasy genre.
I’ve read a ton of books this year. Over half being Romantasy. I’ve even read and loved other books from Alycia this year, but this one stands out as her best work yet. We are a month away from 2025 being over and done with and I can confidently say without a doubt, this has been my favorite book of the year.
It’s clear that Alycia poured her heart and soul into every page—her passion for her characters radiates through the story in such a genuine, heartfelt way.
What impressed me most was how thoughtfully she incorporated feedback from her beta readers. Being a part of that process, I got to witness the genuine care and connection she had with us when we were reading. After her beta phase, and when I then got to read the ARC, I could tell she had truly listened and refined her story with care and intention. Alycia is an author who not only loves her characters but deeply values her readers, creating a connection that feels rare and special. Supporting an author this authentic is effortless, and I’m beyond excited to see where her talent and creativity take her next.
4.25 stars for me! Alycia E Anderson is firmly forever on my auto-buy list, and I continue to love her work. This is a standalone book, separate from her ongoing series, and I can definitely tell a difference to her writing with this one. The writing in this is poignant and just very lyrical to me, and it took me a few chapters to get into the groove of her voice for this one.
Quinn is cursed to sleep for 100 years and wake for only 2 weeks, with the goal to aid someone in a quest. The only way to break this curse is true love - but how can you fall for someone in 14 days? This time when she wakes up, she discovers Mav, a man who would prefer to have no quest at all, but who becomes determined to help break Quinn's curse.
These two! The banter, I just loved them as they got to know each other. There are fun forced proximity vibes here along with a slow burn as the two get to know each other. There is also a really good group of found-family friends that they travel with. I adored Vesper, the sassiest cat familiar friend ever, and the teasing within the group, who can clearly see what's going on.
I also ADORED the ending, and the epilogue especially. I just - ahhh Mav, the man that you are. I love a green flag man just hopelessly, head over heels in love with his person.
However, the 3rd act conflict did leave me feeling somewhat frustrated, which is definitely, probably, a ME thing LOL.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Delightful. Simply delightful. This is just what I wanted, just what I needed. My slump was SLUMPING and it took me 3 weeks to get through this book but once I was in, I was IN!!
I adored the characters. A beautiful found family, complete with sarcastic talking cat, a deliciously awkward mmc who has an advanced degree in yearnology, and the world’s sweetest fmc you’ve ever met. I was initially confused about how he managed to fall in love with her so damn fast. I’m no longer confused. It’s the way he sees her, the way he describes her, the way he makes her feel. And that fucking epilogue??? I would spend my entire life searching for someone to love me like that. What a pure, heart wrenching, stunning kind of love. I’m dying, this book killed me.
The plot is the romance, in a fantasy setting. It’s almost giving a dnd style adventure. I feel like you’d like this if you liked Tusk Love. It’s the same kind of sweet, wholesome sort of unserious love story with a very sweet and kind fmc. There’s a couple of fun truth serum type spells, there’s only one horse AND only one bed, and that forced proximity had me sweating. Seriously, they’re magically tethered and can’t be more than a few metres away at any given moment. They have to be physically standing next to each other for every moment for two weeks straight, or they’re in intense pain. And they don’t fight it either, there kept being moments where they were apart through no choice of their own and our man Mav just kept going to her. He crawled to her at one point. I adore this man. He’s a fucking idiot, no question, but I adore him just the same.
There’s a couple of pacing issues that almost had me giving this 4 stars. Like I would have liked for some of the plot points/adventures to be a little longer because I felt like everything got resolved too quickly, and the villain was kind of one dimensional. But it is a standalone with limited space to develop more complexity, so I’ll give it a pass for that. I’m just used to reading series where everything is dragged out to 2 or 3 or even more books, so this was a nice change of pace. And to be honest, I enjoyed the ending and especially the epilogue SO much, it did feel maybe just a little bit rushed but I’m gnawing at the bars of my enclosure at how that man loved her so damn much!!!!!
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a standalone fantasy romance!!!! Thank you so much for the e-arc 🥹🫶
4⭐️ — “Love—true, lasting love—is a choice made again and again.”
This book was pure poetry in love and time. The emotions it stirred in me as I fell in love with these characters—who themselves were learning what it means to truly love—were incredible. It’s a story about choosing love, even when the odds are stacked against it.
The tale follows a woman cursed to slumber for 100 years, only to awaken for a mere fortnight. She endures this tormentous cycle for centuries, clinging to hope that she’ll one day find the cure to break it. But is two weeks ever enough time to find the love she needs?
Quinn and Mav are the most unlikely duo—one graceful, the other… less inclined. Their banter is sharp, their chemistry undeniable, and watching it bloom was pure delight. I giggled, laughed, swooned, and screamed (more than once).
The world itself is enchanting, filled with fascinating creatures, rich cultures, and the injustices that plague its kingdom. Alongside a few hilariously entertaining companions, Quinn and Mav navigate it all—and what a journey it is. This is one adventure that’s absolutely worth taking.
Quotes that invoked so much awe in me:
“…she felt like a ballad half-written. And for the first time in longer than I could name…I didn’t hate the idea of joining the melody.”
“…love isn’t always about time. Or logic. When it’s the right person, sometimes time’s the least important part of the equation.”
“I will never stop reaching for you. When the world tries to divide us, I will fight back with every breath. When darkness rises, I will stand between it and you, no matter the cost.”
“I don’t believe in fate, but I believe in you.”
Thank you to Alycia E. Anderson for providing me with an ARC of this spectacular new fantasy romance in exchange for my honest review!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via the author)
4.5 stars
Is this cute and cozy? Yes. Will it also put you through an emotional wringer? Also yes!
I may have only discovered Alycia earlier this year but she has very quickly become an "I'd read their grocery list" author for me. She struck the perfect balance of slow burn with the premise of the book being about falling in love in a fortnight. I loved the banter between Quinn and Max, the found family in the group they had, and Vesper was a delight. I love him lol.
If you're looking for standalone with Sleeping Beauty vibes I suggest checking this out.
Favorite quotes He was not without scars, but he had long since learned how to remain standing when there was nowhere safe to fall.
“It’s Tuesday,” Thistle said, pouring cordial into a collection of goblets. “Which means we survived Monday. That deserves celebration.”
“I can’t promise you perfection. Saints know, I have none to give. But I can promise you this: I will never stop reaching for you. When the world tries to divide us, I will fight back with every breath. When darkness rises, I will stand between it and you, no matter the cost.”
This book felt like a warm hug, and by the time I turned the last page, my heart felt so full. It was tender, heartfelt, and beautifully written, and the way the story was delivered filled me with hope. The soft, emotional moments felt like a balm to the soul.
I loved how deep and tender the connection between the MCs felt. Quinn, who has long stopped believing in true love, and Mav, a disgraced knight who’s simply drifting through life, cross paths at a time when they both need someone to believe in them. Even though their time together is brief, it’s filled with banter, vulnerability, and moments of intimacy that made my heart ache. Their romance is grounded in emotion, understanding, and shared longing which makes their connection feel even more profound.
The world-building is so magical with the enchanted forests, the talking cat full of attitude and charm, and the other characters who add humor and a whimsical touch that perfectly balances the emotional depth of the story. The themes of healing, courage and the power of love were highlighted beautifully. The writing feels so poetic and lyrical that I found myself pausing multiple times because the lines hit so deeply.
And the ending was absolutely perfect. This book is enchanting, whimsical and deeply comforting, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something similar.
Wow—just wow. Another well-deserved five-star read from Alycia E. Anderson. Her writing is pure magic: immersive, vivid, and impossible to put down. You want yearning, slow burn, banter for days…pick this up now! The plot, characters, world-building, and magic system are all flawlessly executed—she truly excels at it all. She’s an automatic read/buy author for me, and I will always recommend her books.
This story will leave you aching for more as the clock ticks down for Quinn, Mav, and their friends, raising the tension with every page. And let’s be honest—there’s a talking cat. What’s not to love?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🌶️🌶️.5 spice
*thank you forever for allowing me to be a part of this ARC team*
I genuinely did not expect to adore this book as much as I did. The writing is beautifully poetic, layered with surprisingly profound themes that hit harder than you’d expect from an adult fairytale. Our FMC, Quinn, is cursed; our MMC, Mav, is a disgraced knight; and fate throws them together with just fourteen days to break the curse…or fall in love. Their dynamic is everything; soft, tense, emotional and the romance builds in a way that feels natural and earned, never rushed. The side characters shine just as brightly, including the sassiest talking cat ever, adding charm and humor to the storyline. The pacing is spot on, the slow burn is delicious, and the spice lands at a mild-to-moderate level that fits the tone perfectly. It’s whimsical, warm, full of hope and surprisingly deep. An adult fairytale done right. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
How Alycia always manages to write the most interesting stories, I’ll never understand. She’s amazing. I love the Enchanted Isles series, and I’m super excited for book 4, and A Fortnight to Forever is just as incredible as the Enchanted series!
The writing and the magic system kept me absolutely glued to the book.
Every hundred years, Quinnève Liogenoriggia awakens for only fourteen days. Cursed by a jealous prince, she is doomed to spend each brief awakening helping a stranger, and the only way to break the spell is to fall in love and be loved in return. But in centuries of waking, two weeks has never been enough, and Quinn has long stopped believing in the possibility of love.
Mavromichaeli Bassiano, once a knight with purpose and now a man with nothing left to lose, becomes entangled in Quinn’s curse when she stumbles into a tavern brawl and magically binds herself to him. Cynical, wounded, and convinced he’s the last person who could ever be a hero, Mav agrees to help her mostly because he doesn’t believe love could ever be real, especially not under a countdown.
Joined by a mischievous hedge witch, a celestial cat, and a runaway cartographer, Quinn and Mav cross dangerous lands, face magical mishaps, and slowly form a connection neither of them expected. As the final days of Quinn’s two-week awakening slip away, she must decide whether to risk heartbreak after centuries of disappointment, while Mav must prove that love isn’t defined by time.
I loved how Quinn and Mav bonded, how protective he was of her, and the tension between them, chef’s kiss! The side characters are equally important, and the journey they all make together adds so much depth to the story. I absolutely adored the found-family vibes and the way every single one of them stood up for Quinn. Their bond felt real, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
A huge thanks to Alycia for the arc copy 💖
That opening line instantly caught my attention and made me eager to dive into this ARC, especially since I’d fallen in love with this indie author earlier this year through the Enchanted Isles series. It honestly pains me to give this a lower rating, because I enjoyed the Enchanted Isles so much. Sadly, this story didn’t quite capture me in the same way.
The writing is undeniably beautiful, filled with poetic imagery and emotional undertones, which suit the fairytale atmosphere perfectly. I appreciated how intentional the mood felt throughout. That said, the prose sometimes felt a bit too flowery. Some descriptions - especially early on - were so detailed that they became distracting rather than immersive, and a few metaphors didn’t quite land. I also struggled with the pacing: the first half felt slow and light on action, and I didn’t feel fully engaged until around the 30% mark.
The romance was sweet and emotional, but I couldn’t fully cheer for their relationship, and at times I lost interest. While the fourteen-day countdown was an intriguing concept, it wasn’t developed as much as I would have liked, particularly at the beginning. Some emotional beats felt rushed, and a few romantic or physical moments seemed slightly out of place.
The characters each had their own unique qualities, but I couldn’t fully connect with them. Mav, despite being flirtatious, witty, and charming, didn’t fully convince me for most of the book. Quinn was fine, but I had hoped for a colder, more hardened edge, given the decades she endured under her curse. Their banter was fun, though I sometimes wished it had taken a different tone. On the other hand, the side characters added humor and warmth and were a delight to follow.
The plot had moments that felt like gaps or slower sections that could have been handled differently, and the same goes for the characters. Quinn’s overuse of formality in conversations sometimes made things hard to follow, and overall, the story’s flow and depth occasionally fell short. That said, the concept is fantastic, and the author’s imagination and twists make the story uniquely her own.
That said, there were moments in the story that felt like plot holes and didn’t quite land for me. Overall, I had the feeling that the story read more like a collage of events rather than fully explored situations, which could have added more depth and weight to the narrative.
Despite its flaws, A Fortnight to Forever is still a charming and heartfelt romantasy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to read the eARC. Look forward to exploring more of Alycia’s work in the future!
Five word description: Cosy Romantasy with D&D Vibes
Review: A Fortnight to Forever is a rarity in modern day fantasy literature drawing on elements of lyrical ballads and 80/90s fantasy stories. Think "The Neverending Story"; "The Princess Bride"; and "The Swan Princess".
Quinnève is cursed to sleep for a century and only wake for a fortnight to serve another before returning to slumber. A fairytale curse with a fairytale solution.
At it's core is the sweet romance between our two protagonists: both isolated from the worlds' they had always known and loneliness shredding them from the inside. Although, at times their relationship felt rushed, it also felt realistic. They communicated with one another. They had anxieties and fears that made them hesitate towards revealing their vulnerabilities. They both had flaws that led to conflicts real couples find themselves in.
I found myself excited to return home from work and tuck into the story.
Quinn, herself, is a rarity - both in the story and in modern fantasy literature. She holds a strength that inspired me, refusing to let the curse drag her completely into despair although she has many reasons to give into it. She is not your typical "Strong Female", swinging swords and concuring kingdoms. She exists for the little things and holds her chin high in her own pecularities. She is who I would recommend my young self to look to as a role model. Someone quiet, observing, and steadfast.
Mav embraces every value of a Medieval Knight. Loyal. Chivalrous. Self-sacrificing. I could list on. Numerous of his chapters made me laugh because he was so engaging felt like a real man. Not just some construct of the feminine gaze. I often found him reminding me of Flynn Rider (Tangled) and Westley (The Princess Bride). That touch of comedian glowing through.
The one thing I wished to see was more of their interactions with the wonderful found family they discovered. Every chapter felt like I was on an adventure with them. Yes, the plot revolved around the curse tying our protagonists together, but I still had questions unanswered at the end about the supporting cast. Little tidbits scattered in the chapters that left me curious.
I have also concluded I need a cat to provided running commentary in every aspect of my life.
The novel is entirely romance/character driven. Yet, in its outer layers exists a world that I could envision more stories emerging from. It's vast. Imperfect. I would however love to have explored and understood the setting more. Perhaps having it woven into the chapters more seamlessly rather than chunks of exposition told by other characters. Making it more essential to the plot.
From what I read, I believe the setting of "A Fortnight to Forever, is full of so many potential adventures. Further conflicts await to tempt you into its chaos but Anderson resisted them just enough to not stray the plot. Something many modern authors would have done. I can see myself picking up another Anderson novel in this setting.

“You know.. love isn’t always about time. Or logic. When it’s the right person, sometimes time’s the least important part of the equation.”
I couldn’t put this book down (literally)!! This was the perfect fairytale with great, quick-witted banter that had me actually laughing out loud. Quinn is cursed to wake every century to complete a mission that only lasts a fortnight, and runs into the mission: Mav. They embark to try to break the course, and along the way theres heartbreak, action, longing, and a one horse trope? 🐎👀 (don’t mind if I do).
This book has so many messages that is inspiring to take away into the real world, including messages about love, communication, and inner strength/determination. Some of these hidden messages had me tearing up and warming my heart! I also felt that all the characters were well-rounded and strong in their own ways, so much that they truly felt like family through and through. Quinn was an inspiring FMC with traits that would normally defy the common perception of a woman, but made her relatable all the same. Mav was equally as inspiring as a MMC, proving that strength does not always come from status.
Overall, I would give 4.75⭐️, and 10/10 would read again!! Thank you for having me as part of your ARC team!
A Fortnight to Forever treats time as both a gentle tide and a relentless judge, shaping its characters with unequal mercy. Quinn, cursed to wake for only a fortnight after a hundred years of sleep, rises into a world that has long left her behind. Her path crosses with Mav, a former knight numbed by disappointment and haunted by his past. Their meeting feels less like chance than fate quietly correcting its own course.
Anderson’s prose has a graceful, wistful melancholy, the kind that moves with the hush of rain against glass. She layers her fantasy with reflections on what it means to live again after loss, to carry hope despite exhaustion, and to offer love even when time seems determined to close the door. The bond between Quinn and Mav unfolds with a quiet inevitability, touching on redemption as much as desire.
In the end, the novel becomes more than a tale of magic and curses — it is a meditation on rebirth and the fragile bravery of opening one’s heart. When the final page turns, it leaves a lingering calm, a reminder that tenderness is still possible, even in the smallest, most fleeting moments.
I received an e-ARC for this book for my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would give it a 4.25! It was one of the coziest reads of my year.
It is full of fairytale and wonder, and partially reminded me of a combination of a Tessonja Odette book mixed with the Princess Bride. (Which are some of my favorites)
What I truly loved about this was I really liked how the story started quickly — the characters meet early on, and it immediately builds into a team dynamic centered on helping her. The tone felt light and refreshing and everyone’s sensitivity and care to her situation added to that sense of calm and warmth throughout. The romance itself is adorable, and we do get to see both characters’ perspectives. I also loved how their companions are all in on it — full of knowing looks and eye rolls as they help the FMC & MMC in their adventure.
This book!! I have no words! I absolutely devoured it!
The yearning - “She felt like a ballad half-written. And for the first time in longer than I could name…. I didn’t hate the idea of joining the melody.”
The writing is poetic and flows like a song. The story is paced well for the short time line in which it takes place. The magic structure is unique and the plot flows smoothly.
The FMC, MMC and found family are equally relatable and I could feel their stories come alive. And I mean- like really feel.
I would recommend this book to anyone! Not just fantasy readers!
I really enjoyed this start to finish. I loved that it was a standalone fantasy that gives tangled vibes (for adults). Mav and Quinn were adorable throughout the story and it made me laugh and cry. I think my favorite scene is when they’re stealing from the Goblins and in the forest and eat fruit that make them only speak in couplets. That had me cackling.
This book is perfect if you love fairytales and want a little bit of spice and a lot of yearning. The book was so fun and unique, the minute I seen cursed I knew I would love it. The side characters are great as well and the vibes were immaculate especially if you love a knight/honourable man and soft feminine FMC trope 👀💕
This felt whimsical, magical, a fairytale enchanted with lyrical verse. It was also romantic that had you at awe while reading. The emotional depth this book delivered between the characters really shows that love can defy time. This was enjoyable to read as it gave you all those cozy fantasy vibes you could want and imagine while reading ✨
I loved this book ! I love a good curse breaking romance story and this book does that and more ! The comedic timings had me laughing and the deeper moments had me reflecting on life. The world building and environment felt lived in and well fleshed out . If you're into sleeping beauty, forced proximity with a bit of yearning and strong willed leading female characters ,then this is the book for you .

This book was provided to me as an ARC for an unbiased and honest review. Thank you to Alycia and publishing team for sending me a copy of the book and trusting me to provide such feedback.
If I had to summarize this story into a single word, I'd say whimsical. The author uses such stunning poetic imagery to describe the environment and emotions. The story is beautifully written and I LOVE the ending. I also appreciated the extensive trigger warning list at the beginning of the book even if I, personally, didn't feel like it was necessary.
That being said, I do have a few things to note that stopped this from being a higher rating.
For starters, the use of such flowery language as a tool to build out imagery was occasionally overdone. In the first few chapters alone, the description of the rain coating everything was so over the top, it was almost a distraction rather than an accent. In addition to over-embellishment, there seemed to be some imagery that didn't quite hit the mark for me. "His tone mimicked that of a door closing." I wasn't sure where we were going with that. It needed WD-40? It was sharp? It left no room for question? What was the goal here?
I also struggled with pacing of the book. As a good portion of the first half of the story was an adventure of sorts, I didn't feel like there was enough happening to keep me completely invested. I feel like such a wonderful tale deserved more action to keep readers interested. If this wasn't a ARC, I can't say I would've pushed so hard to move through the first part of this book. That being said, once the 60-65% mark hit and we started building towards the meat and potatoes of the story, I was finding it easier to stay engaged.
Another issue I had was that I felt some of the scenes depicting a physical connection were out of place or didn't make sense. They felt forced, or seemed out of character, or felt thrown in by the author because she thought that it was what the readers might want. In particular the first kissing scene felt like the entire events leading up to it was pointless and a more active physical scene later took place in the middle of an emotional outburst where the sudden shift to sensuality felt completely out of left field and did not make sense.
Finally, probably one of the bigger issues that is COMPLETELY subjective, is the timeline of the romance. I typically don't care for love stories where I'm supposed to believe people fell in love within a day or two of connecting. I struggle to buy into the romance and often have trouble staying invested in their relationship. I think it would have been more of a hit for me, personally, if the acknowledgement of romance came closer to the end and hit more like a truck than it actually did. I do acknowledge that this is not the author's fault, but my own preference, so grain of salt this part.
Despite it's flaws, the overall story is very charming and saw many elements of some of my favorite classical fairytales as well of some of the author's own imagination woven in. It felt both like rereading a favorite and reading some new simultaneously and was a delight.
I was so grateful to be given the chance to read this ARC!
This story had a cosy, romantasy vibe with whimsical and sometimes poetic writing. I found myself really invested in the characters. I loved the emotional tone of the story. It felt comforting and descriptive, and the slow burn romance worked beautifully even with the dual POV. There were some lighter action scenes that kept the pace moving, and the characters were genuinely lovable, believable, and easy to root for.
The magic system was cool, and the names for the different types of magic were interesting. I would have liked the magic to go a little deeper, and the worldbuilding was fairly light, which makes sense for a standalone. Toward the end a few parts felt slightly rushed or too easily resolved, but the tone of the book is lighter and as a standalone it needs to be wrapped up within one story. This is probably more about my personal preference, because I did enjoy the writing. There was also one moment right at the end that made my jaw hit the floor. It was a really interesting twist and a lovely touch to close the story, and it kept the story from being super predictable which was satisfying. It was an enjoyable read, and a particular highlight for me was the author’s descriptive writing. The emotions, character interactions, and visual atmosphere were all captured in a vivid and expressive way.
This is a great pick for anyone who enjoys cosy romantasy, whimsical vibes, and character-driven story with a gentle tone. I would give it around 3.75 stars (rounded up to 4!) which reflects my preference for higher-stakes fantasy rather than anything lacking in the book itself.

I have such a deep appreciation for writers that answer their life’s calling to create.
This book was so so wonderful and I (almost) have no notes.
To begin, we have a FMC who is able to be awake every hundred years for only 14 days to help someone complete their quest. Enter a MMC that is a disgraced knight and you have a story filled with love and passion and lovable side characters. The magic system was unique and the storyline was very solid in my humble opinion. There were parts where I laughed and kicked my feet and I already want to reread it!
The only qualm I can see readers getting frustrated with is the miscommunications. There were times when I’m Mav’s perspective I was ready for him to confess his feelings, but then it would immediately turn into a “I don’t think she likes me like that” even though all other signs pointed to yes. I understand why it had to be this way for the sake of the plot, but there were times where I wish they would’ve had deeper thoughts and conversations to get them both on the same page.
If you are a fan of Ella Enchanted, My Lady Jane, Rapunzel, or whimsical stories in general- I URGE you to read this book! You will not be disappointed!
Rating: 5/5 Spice:1.5/5
