I did not enjoy this book. If you have a book based on a fighting game it should have some decent fights in it right? Well thus book does not.

Plot (I say plot very loosely) of each story is just to give the reason for the fight. Then battles are all over the place and it is impossible to enjoy any of it cos something is going on everywhere. I would have preferred if each was shorter and was a showdown between two characters. Way more quality than quantity. Unfortunately they gave gone for high quantity with low quality.

Thus is really an advertisement for Jeff the Land Shark. Selling points he is cute and overpowered. The book finishes with variant cover gallery and a short (two page) silent story.

It was alright. Bit annoying reading on my phone screen. Nice how Jeff is treated as this warm break time bubble.

Marvel Rivals is my most played game in the past year so I was really excited to start reading this comic, only to be disappointed pretty early on.

This book is just a collection of smaller stories. It felt like I was thrown into a narrative without context or conclusion. However, the writers dumb it down a lot through Galacta. For some reason, they have her make a summary every two pages. At times, it really took me out of the story.

It's also sad there are so many characters in the game that don't make it to the comic. Squirrel Girl, Thing, Rocket Raccoon are in almost every story yet Invisible Woman or Mr. Fantastic are nowhere to be seen. I did really like how they used Jeff. Between the battles and discussions, it was a nice break to see Jeff the Land Shark just be cute and play around

3.5 stars, rounded down
Having never played the game, but being a huge fan of Marvel (and the variant covers these issues released) intrigued me enough to read this collection. With that in mind, I was completely lost, I felt like I jumped into the story with no background of what was going on, and no real conclusion to things that went on.
I did enjoy the artwork throughout, and the unique takes on the characters were refreshing as well. The last half (King in Black and Ignite) were the best books with the best artwork.
This whole collection just felt like a mess though. Interesting read, but chaotic and hard to follow if you don't play the game, I guess.

I like Rivals but I don't play it, so admittedly this was probably not really 'for' me. I did not like Galacta's narration at ALL and found that it massively downgraded the stories. The only one I really liked was the Peach Momoko one with Psylocke, the Punisher, and Peni.

The art was fun but the story was mid. I want more funny dialogue between the characters idc about trying to give lore reasons for why they're fighting!
