Two years after Mr. Bennet’s death and four years after refusing Mr. Darcy’s first proposal—and never seeing him again—Elizabeth Bennet pays a visit to her old friend Charlotte Collins, née Lucas. Having lived on the Collinses’ charity since Mr. Bennet’s passing, Elizabeth feels she cannot refuse Charlotte’s invitation—especially as her friend seems to have an ulterior motive for it. Little does she expect her return to Hunsford, the parsonage, and the grand Rosings Park will coincide with a visit from the man she once refused, who she has since learned was not the scoundrel he had been painted as.
After avoiding Mr. Darcy for so long—and a significant fall in her life circumstances—Elizabeth expects him to continue avoiding her in turn. A surprise meeting under less than ideal circumstances reintroduces them into each other’s lives, and an explosive revelation sheds new light on old matters. Will it be enough to make them take this second chance?
Return to Rosings is a novella-length, clean and sweet Pride and Prejudice variation featuring chance encounters, second chances, rekindled feelings, Lady Catherine’s interference, the second proposal Elizabeth deserves, and happy endings all round.
It's been a while since the Disastrous Hunsford Proposal, and Elizabeth is back in Kent. Nothing much happens in the free sample but I put the book down as a maybe.
While here wasn't much mystery, as it was obvious what Charlotte was up to, seeing it all play out was very sweet. Like a little one act play the bulk of this story is our dear couple and interactions with the Collins'. Who are halfway to normal after several years of marriage.
Elizabeth was burdened by life, yet she bloomed more and more on every page of Darcy's timid attention.
I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what else this author will publish.
Five years after Elizabeth refuses Darcy's dreadful proposal at Hunsford, she revisits there and rekindles a romance with Darcy, despite Lady Catherine's objections and Mr. Collins' silliness. Cute and sweet, low angst, and a happy ending.
